August 4th. It was coming up in a few days, and Horror has been very tense lately. This would be the tenth anniversary since he ‘received’ the crack in his skull as an oh so gracious birthday present from the Queen, and he intended no one to find out.
Fate, of course, had decided otherwise.
Or, Horror hates his birthday and everyone else wants to fix that.

“Is he going to be okay?” Nancy asks, watching Steve put all of his energy into the chest compression. Jonathan feels the towel soaking with blood each time Steve presses into Eddie's chest, the blood finally dripping through the towel. “I NEED ANOTHER TOWEL!” Jonathan yells, Nancy running to grab one. “Come on, Eds. Come on….” Steve says while he continues the compressions. He pulls his hands away checking for a pulse. Looking at his watch and counting silently while Jonathan places a towel on top of the already soaked one. Steve immediately begins doing compressions again, starting over his count. “Come on Eds don't do this to me…” Steve felt his chest getting tight, a lump in his throat as he kept doing the compressions. Nancy and Jonathan holding the towel tight to his side. “thirteen. Fourteen. Fifteen.” He keeps cycling through the numbers, his voice dripping with desperation as he counts.

Summary
Vecna won, but everything seems to have at least calmed down for now. Still, Steve can't help but feel upset, guilty, and maybe just a tad strange. He knows he can't keep blaming himself for Eddie's death, but the more he tries to convince himself, the more complicated his emotions become. Unfortunately, that's not his only problem. The bites he got in the Upside Down aren't healing right, and the changes he's going through are just another level on the pile of sh*t that is his life in Hawkins. Sounds bad? Turns out that Eddie Munson appearing out of the blue with a thirst for blood is the straw that'll break the camels back.

Summary
Steve called out to someone who could no longer hear him, no longer see him. He shook Eddie’s shoulder, wanting the light to come back into those eyes, collapsing onto Eddie’s chest as he let the sobs wrack his body, guilt and grief swirling around in inside his stomach as his life seemed to split into two: the half with Eddie in it, and the half without.
OR
Steve is struggling to keep himself together after Eddie’s death in the Upside Down, and is trying his best to return to the status quo. However, a certain undead creature is intent on tracking him down, and he will stop at nothing to find him.
