It wasn't exactly good friend etiquette to make bets about your friend’s potential cryptid-ness. Right? She figured it couldn't have been but then again she wasn't entirely sure what anyone else would have done in this situation. Rumi was hiding something from them and if the two of them decided to make stupid bets trying to guess what it was to cope, that was between her and Mira.

Summary
And suddenly, the pieces aligned.
The growing distance from the other girls. The long sleeves and heavy layers she wore even in the suffocating Seoul heat. The insistence on separate dressing rooms. The gentle, almost ashamed refusals whenever the bathhouse was mentioned.
Mira’s heart sank as the final piece fell into place, her mind replaying the lyrics Rumi had been singing not even a mere ten minutes ago:
“When your patterns start to show, I see a pain that lies below…”
She wasn’t singing about the demon marks the Saja Boys bore. She was singing about patterns she had carved into herself.
OR
What if in Mira’s confrontation, she pushes just a little harder and learns that the meaning behind the lyrics ran far deeper than she ever expected? A canon divergent fic where Rumi’s patterns are revealed, but not at all the demon kind.

Summary
Before the Idol Awards, Rumi's demonic features were never as prominent as they are now. It takes time and the assurance that Mira and Zoey don't see her as the monster she feels like to really start to embrace all of who she is, half-human, half-demon, just Rumi.

Rumi touched her fingers to her ribs. She could feel the heat radiating from her skin, even through her clothes. A distant, miserable part of her said, this is going to hurt.
She pushed her fingers down.
The rib shifted.
The thing about telling one very big lie is that it requires a foundation of hundreds of smaller lies to hold it up, lies such as "I'm fine," and "nothing's broken," and "it doesn't hurt."
Rumi finds this out the hard way.

Maria glanced between her now empty hand and Romanoff, “Sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it, Hill. At least I managed ten minutes this time?”
“Almost. Eight minutes, fourty-five.” She cringed at both her watch and Pepper coming up for air after drinking the entire cup so quickly. “I’ll catch up with you later, agent. Ok, Pepper, what’s going on?”
“Last night Tony went and not only blew himself up, but poor Jarvis too!”
“I forgot about that. That was hilarious.” Romanoff chimed in.
Maria lifted two of her fingers to massage her temple while trying to hide her grimace. “It’s a good thing that Jarvis is an A.I program. No doubt Stark has a backup hiding somewhere.”
