Or, the one where Gatsby has been wining and dining Nick for weeks and Nick comes to the logical conclusion. Which is not, actually, the correct conclusion. Or is it?

Summary
Nick loses his keys, gets stranded in the freezing rain after work, and accidentally reminds Jay Gatsby that loving someone means occasionally driving around Manhattan at 11 p.m. looking for a very stubborn husband sitting at a deserted bus stop. Jay takes this as an opportunity to be unbearably observant and painfully in love about it.
(Nick and Gatsby are already married in this; I just didn't wanna write another dating or getting together fic, it started to get annoying for me.)

“But she’s not coming back, is she, old sport?”
“No, she’s not,” Nick said softly, as if his tone might spare Gatsby’s feelings.
Or: Gatsby doesn't from the gunshot, instead he becomes entirely Nicks problem and they both have weird repressed gay feelings about it. Gatsby's caught between a woman who he's chased so far he's not quite sure how to stop and a man who will has been and always will be waiting to help him catch his breath when he finally does manage to stop all this chasing. Who likes cardio anyways?
