While adventuring, Mario meets someone who, to use as few words as possible, is incredible. They bounce off each other nearly instantly, and quickly form an unbreakable bond with each other.
At least, what they think is unbreakable.

He's ready to move out of his best friend's apartment to find someone, settle down, have a family, and move forward in what he feels is a life that has been stagnant for some time. It's not as if he doesn't enjoy what he has with Charlie; they're best friends and have been for years, but what he feels for Charlie beyond their friendship isn't something that could ever be reciprocated. He might as well give up now and just make the little time that he has left with him worth it.

First, that the destines of Mobius and the Mushroom World would be forever entwined because their worlds were forever entwined—and the destiny of their heroes was similar, no matter which way he picked. Secondly: despite his strength, and the strength of his brother, Mario and Peach wanted them to stay, not because they were helpless, but because they wanted them to grow up safe.
And thirdly, he really didn’t mind that prospect.
Somehow that was the strangest part about this.
