“Why not?” Adam’s trembling now, though he won’t appreciate Eve noticing it. “What’s the point of life if you don’t have a dream to chase? What’s the point of everything we did if you can just throw us away like that?!”
“Tell that to Shuu!” Rom growls back, loud enough to make the coffee cups rattle.
Rom comes to the cafe to tell Adam and Eve he's leaving the band, too.

It has been unusual having Dice around the last week. As much as Riou appreciates the company and the spare pair of hands, it’s been a long time since he’s spent so long in close quarters with the same person. A long time full of ghosts.
Yesterday’s spare rabbit catch is curing in the salt barrel. If Dice stays over again tonight, they’ll have to go hunting tomorrow. Riou never gets tired of watching him eat, or the enthusiasm with which he goes back for seconds and thirds. He’s getting better at hunting, too. Mostly at making noise to chase the prey towards Riou’s ambush, but that is a great assistance. He has a good eye for edible plants, as well. And as long as helping Riou continues to be the most exciting option around, he has boundless energy.

Knowing what really happened the day Sasara told him he hated everything about him doesn't change how Samatoki feels.
He hadn’t let himself consider the possibility that Nemu wasn’t the only mindhack victim. What’s more plausible, simple human cruelty or the government going out of its way to intervene in his personal life? Samatoki sees those odds play out every day. Allowing himself to hope that maybe Sasara hadn’t meant what he said would mean allowing himself to stay as weak and gullible as he was back then. He didn’t survive this long by hoping.
Samatoki doesn’t know what to make of the revelation that apparently Sasara really hadn’t meant it. Unexpected good news smells like a trap. Better to stay wary. Even if it was true, it doesn’t roll back the last two years.

He wrote this song for this night, though they’ve been playing it for the whole tour. They can’t say he didn’t warn them. Well, he’ll probably still complain, but that’s his fault for never listening. If he’d ever been listening to what Shuu was saying, maybe he wouldn’t have had to push him like this.
Soon it will be time for Shuu to sing the bridge, to passionately declare that even if this is a mistake, the hand of the clock can never be turned back. That if he must lose everything anyway, then he’d rather break it with his own hands. He’s thought about it over and over and he knows it has to be this way. But tonight, the night he makes it all come true… he opens his mouth, and he can’t make the sound come out.

After their first cigarette kiss in Samatoki's safehouse, Samatoki and Sasara find it harder and harder to ignore the gravity between them.
Even fresh out of the shower Samatoki smells of bay rum aftershave and the clinging scent of tobacco, and some more fundamental Samatoki smell that Sasara recognizes from the jacket and from sitting across from him in the office and from walking next to him. It envelops him now, alongside the insistent heat of Samatoki’s body over his. When Samatoki takes another pull of the cigarette and leans in impossibly closer, Sasara opens his mouth wide to take it. The thought of Samatoki’s breath mixed inextricably with the smoke that fills Sasara’s lungs thrills him.
“Is this a skit?” Sasara asks after a few more slow puffs, when he finds his words again. He’s never been good at not ruining a moment. “It's been a while since I played tsukkomi. I'm not sure what the joke is.”
“So improvise,” Samatoki murmurs, only a little hint of a growl in his voice. “You don’t like it? Because you look like you like it.”

There’s no other sound in the apartment. No knocking on the door, no cheerful humming. No smell of freshly cooked breakfast, either.
