Summary

Summary
As soon as the hellhound is dead, Charles collapses down and in. Part of Edwin expected it, so he is able to catch his soul before he hits the ground.
“Jesus, is he okay?” asks Crystal, staring at the brightly glowing orb in Edwin’s hands.
“He's just tired. He'll be right as rain in a day or two,” Edwin assures her, but his mouth curls down of its own volition. Charles never likes the vulnerability that comes with this form, and he’s always in a bit of a mood afterwards. Besides, Edwin always misses him dearly when he’s gone.
He runs a thumb over the surface of the orb. “For now, it's our turn to protect him.”

HELP WANTED: Maintenance Worker (late hours)
Seeking a person of steady disposition and keen intellect. Generous compensation. Room and board available upon request. Not suitable for those possessed of a delicate constitution or nervous temperament. Mechanical aptitude a must, fast runners strongly preferred. Priority will be afforded to candidates with no dependents or other living relatives. Applicants may report to Mr. Edwin Payne, acting head curator and recondite warder of the London Athenaeum.
Office hours: 11:30pm – 5:30am, Mondays only.It’s the weirdest bloody job interview Charles has ever done.

I shall be horribly heartbroken to make them feel guilty and any subsequent romantic partner who is a bit more... mellow than you will be quite welcome.”
Charles stared at him, unsure of how he could’ve ever thought of Edwin Payne as innocent. “Damn... you are a conniving little bastard, aren’t you?”-
Charles Rowland's first impression of Edwin Payne can be summerized as privileged, rich and aloof – also incredibly pretty, but that’s besides the point. However, when Edwin presents him with a scheme to piss off his conservative parents and get some money out of them in the process, Charles can’t resist the siren call of causing mayham for some Tories.
