Summary
It’s a trip for them as well as some makeshift Valentines Day celebration, yet neither of them really cares much about what constitutes properly celebrating the day with the other person.
In other relationships Anthony has been self-conscious about where he stood with the other person and the need to please them, to know they were happy with them. With Ian, he knows. Ian doesn’t need some big show of words and gestures, but Anthony is happy to give them anyway. Their actual Valentines Day together had been spent at Ian’s place, eating take-out Thai food and working their way through Ian’s Letterboxd watchlist.

“I have an idea,” Anthony says.
“Oh no.”
Anthony smiles and lets out a laugh, and Ian feels a grin stretch over his face. There’s something about being able to make Anthony laugh, maybe its because the sound of it feels like a childhood memory, gives him a rush of serotonin in his brain, or maybe it’s because he knows what it’s like to have missed the sound, but Ian cherishes making Anthony laugh more than he, or anyone else, really, would know.
“Hear me out,” Anthony says.
Ian nods, setting his hands on his desk and giving Anthony his full attention.
“I was thinking what if you and I go on a trip together?”
