Summary
"Why is there —" his head is pounding, "— there's no —there's not —!" Jon's breath keeps hitching, like there's something lodged in his chest. Still glancing around wildly through the gaps between his fingers, Jon's gaze finally latches onto Elias' eyes, and he watches something like understanding dawn there. Something almost like fear. "Where am I?"

Summary
Ever since Jon became Head Archivist, he'd had a real stick up his ass.
Tim would normally laugh off his new bosses snide remarks and go about his business. Until Martin started taking the brunt of Jon's attitude and Tim wasn't above getting a little payback. For everyone's sake. And what better day than today? He'd heard the rumors about Jon having a phobia back when they were in research together and Tim knew Jon could stand to be knocked down a peg or two.
----------- OR ------------

Summary
“Jon thinks he knows what you’re going to get,” Tim says conspiratorially.
“Oh!” Martin says, and turns towards Jon, holding the menu between them. “Please! I’m indecisive. What did you see?”
Jon raises his eyebrows at Tim as if asking for permission, then taps at the menu. “They have an Earl Grey French ‘75,” he says. Martin squints at the description: Earl Grey infused gin, honey, lemon juice, prosecco. Color is rising in Jon’s cheeks, he thinks, although that could just be light reflecting from the sofas. “I was mostly joking -- you can get whatever you like, of course. On me.”
“Is this from our social budget?” Tim asks.
“No, this is -- on me. Truly. After the week I just put you through, it’s the least I can do.” Jon wrinkles his nose as Martin waves down a waitress. “We have a social budget?”
ADDED 5/13: More epistolary poetry (ch 10), and a timeline (ch 11).

Summary
And then Jon is snarling into his face, demanding what are you hiding with a strange, bright-eyed intensity Martin has never seen from him before, and Martin thinks god, maybe he should just come clean about his CV, Jon thinking he's a fraud can't be any worse than Jon thinking he's a murderer-
Martin opens his mouth to speak. To his absolute horror, what actually comes out is: "I used to pretend to cry because I liked how nice you were to me when you thought I was upset!"
