When they were younger, Katsuki used to use his Quirk to create tiny fireworks in his palms. Izuku thought it was the most amazing thing ever, Kacchan! And any time Izuku was sad and would hide away in his room to avoid the world, Katsuki would create tiny fireworks for him and say, C’mon, stupid Deku, there’s no point in fireworks without you.
Izuku remembered that. Of course, he remembered. Katsuki remembered, too.

The phone call comes on a Thursday.
Katsuki has Thursdays off. He had been in the shower and missed the call, so he puts his Voicemail on speaker to hear the message as he cuts vegetables for the curry he’s making for dinner.
Hello, Mr. Katsuki Bakugou. This is Shiro Takayama from Musutafu Hospital North. I’m the social worker assigned to the case of your mother, Mitsuki Bakugou. She has been placed in intensive care as of 10:43AM this morning. You are her second emergency contact after Masaru Bakugou, so we wanted to reach out to you. Feel free to give us a call back if you have any questions or concerns.
Katsuki stares at the phone as if it has suddenly turned into a monkey with three heads. “What the fuck?”

"Izuku?"
The relief that fills him is euphoric, but peeking around the door and witnessing Ochaco standing in the eye of a paper-laundry storm with a single eyebrow raised dwindles it quickly to uncertainty.
"You wanna tell me what this is?" Ochaco asks, her innocence betrayed by the curiosity that laces her words and a smile so crooked it's near-wicked.
His mouth parts in confusion until a flurry of white and purple draws his attention, looking just beside her head to see -
A to-go cup, one that would be relatively innocuous if not for the story it tells: a unique lavender wrap cut off by a cream lid, droplets of the same shade dripping from the lip to create waves that 'ripple' at the bottom; a row of mauve boxes curved right along the edge and marked to show that it once held a triple-shot Americano with extra, extra caramel syrup…
And the logo for 'Lavender Lattes', barely legible thanks to the name 'DYNAMIGHT 🖤' scrawled across it.
