Chapter Text
Waking up on the ground with survivors around him once again was getting annoying. He heard some shouts, some gaps, and also someone touching him. Groaning, he opened his eyes and noticed Claudette sitting next to him touching him.
"Oh, god, how did it happen?" She asked concerned and Danny blinked a few times, looking down. The mark from Freddy was still there, the F seemed like it was healing slowly. Wait.. where was-
"Where the hell is your shirt?" Meg voiced Danny's question and raised her eyebrow. Before the man could reply, someone hugged his side when he tried to sit up. It was Feng.
"Jed! Oh no, what happened, are you okay!? I heard it was awful!" She started talking and Danny tried hard not to just roll his eyes. Instead, he smiled at her. "I'm alright, thank you for your concern."
"Jane said you went against Krueger," Kate spoke up, she looked scared for poor Jed too. "That sick, bastard." Someone said, "That must've been horrible!" Feng exclaimed and before she could hug Danny again, he managed to gently push her away. "Hmm.. yes. Horrible." Danny replied, trying not to laugh.
Claudette was the next one to speak. "I am going to see if we have some bandages but we usually don't get injured outside of trials." She said and stood up. Waving her hand around the people before continuing. "Guys, please, just let him, I need to make sure he's not bleeding anymore.
The survivors slowly left, some wanted to protest but they soon all went to their own things they were doing. Danny could finally take a deep breath. Standing up, he dusted himself off, as he was always doing, and stretched his arms. Thankfully in the realm, there was barely any changing temperature, only a few places had it, so he didn't feel cold without a shirt. It was interesting how the entity healed the rest of his wounds and cuts but not the newly acquired mark. Not that he was complaining.
Soon, Claudette appeared again, but instead of carrying any bandages, she had Mikaela with her. "We didn't have any, but Mikey said she will try to heal it." The girl explained and before Danny could argue, she pushed him lightly onto a nearby log to sit down. Danny huffed but didn't complain. Glancing at the witch, he kindly smiled. "Hello, I don't think we met yet." He said and the girl smiled a little bit. She seemed shy. Kneeling next to Danny, she glanced at his wound and placed her hand on it. "I'm Mikaela. I heard about you." She said and focused on whatever she was going to do. I heard about you too…Danny thought, slightly annoyed. She was the person behind those fucking boons…However, he didn't voice his thoughts out loud.
"Heard about me? I hope nothing bad happens." He joked and chuckled. "I am Jed." He introduced himself as he continued watching the red-haired girl. Why was he the only guy with ginger hair while there are two girls, not fair.
After a few minutes, the witch sighed. She stood up and looked sad. "I'm sorry Jed. I only managed to heal it halfway. It will still leave a big scar." She apologized and Danny shook his head like it was no big deal. "It's.. it's alright, don't worry much about it." He said and watched Claudette put a hand on Mikaela's shoulder. "I'm sorry that you must've met that bastard." She said with anger Jed hadn't seen her with before. "Krueger is one of the worst. We all hate him, but I think Quentin does the most." Claudette continued explaining and Danny knew he needed to act like he had no idea. "Quentin? I don't think I met him yet." He said and the girls looked at each other.
"He mostly spends time alone, sometimes he hangs around with Johnathan… Quentin was the one who came from the same place as Krueger. He still has nightmares about him." Claudette explained and Danny almost laughed. What a weak bitch. He thought. Quentin looked like a wet sad dog, no wonder Freddy wants to kill him, Danny sometimes targets him too in trials. It's funny. Maybe he should pay him a visit sometime.
When the two girls left, he stood up and looked around. He should go and socialize and as much as he wanted to bother Quentin, he should try to meet others first.
Noticing some guys nearby, he went towards them. "Hey…" He said in his awkward voice and waved as he was close to them.
David was the first to respond and notice him. "Hi. Jed, right?" He asked and Danny nodded confirming David's question. "I must say, I'm impressed by your ability to outrun the killer for that long." He continued and Danny just whispered a small thank you, acting like he was shy to get a compliment.
"From what I heard, you act like you have done this before." Ace said and raised an eyebrow. Bill was the next one to speak. "Yeah, you seem like you knew what you were doing…" He said and it was obvious he was suspicious of him.
Danny chuckled awkwardly and shook his head. "I mean… I used to be a reporter but most of my job was running away." He explained hoping they would stop asking him. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
"Running from who?" It was Jeff who asked now. He was the last guy that was in the group. He was tall, taller than Danny, and a pain in the ass to carry around. The ginger sighed and nervously looked at him.
"I.. uh.." He might as well say half the truth, so they can leave him alone. "It was a murderer that I was writing about. I almost died multiple times." He then acted like he was scared about the confession.
The survivors seemed to be satisfied with that answer and didn't press any further. Thankfully. However, he knew these noisy idiots are going to want to know more sooner or later anyway.
They resumed their conversation and Danny just listened. The men talked little about some uninteresting stuff before moving to tactics on trials. They sometimes nodded towards Jed so he could maybe try to learn some stuff. Danny would love to laugh, he knew so much basic dumb stuff these people do to avoid the killers. No one of them seemed to taunt them as he does though.
Trying to keep his Jed persona, Danny managed to befriend most of the survivors. There were a few he hadn't met yet and a few that were already suspicious about him, like Dwight or Nea but Danny didn't bother with them for now.
Soon he felt like he was getting pulled into a new trial once again.
The first time Danny was happy he wore the red coat. His turtleneck was back on his body too as he stood up. If the cold snow didn't say it already, he noticed the big ski lodge in the middle of the trail to indicate he was in Ormond. It was one of Danny's less favorite places but still better than some others. At least it had spots to hide and the perfect map for him to blend with the outside when Entity decided he looks better with an icicle through his body.
Danny turned behind him and saw Claudette with Feng. The Asian girl already started running towards him. Meanwhile the other looked around before she noticed a generator and went to work on it. Danny sent a fake smile toward Feng. "Oh, Jed! I am so happy that we are together in a trial." She said and Danny tried so much to not roll his eyes.
Before he could say something back he noticed Feng didn't look at him anymore and instead was looking past him. Danny turned around and noticed someone running towards them from farther away. They had a knife raised and since he was the only other killer with a white mask and a knife it was obvious who was after them.
The ginger turned his attention back to the girl. "Go and work on a gen I will distract him." He said and Feng shook her head. "But, Jed…"
"But nothing. Do this for me alright?" Danny cut her off and looked at her with pleading eyes. It was obvious she blushed and then lightly nodded before running away.
Turning back towards the direction of the killer who was running his way, he smirked. Danny started running too but instead of away, it was directly towards the attacker. Not slowing down at all, he smirked when he was close to the killer. Watching him swing, Danny did a roll on the ground and managed to stand back up as he stopped laughing. Turning towards the Legion, he was groaning in frustration as he missed.
"What's wrong, Frank? Do you have performance anxiety?" Danny said and laughed again. The man who was now obviously Frank turned quickly to the ginger. "Danny?" He asked and tilted his head to the side.
Danny chuckled and nodded. "Of course it's me. You know, I'm surprised you recognized me, it must've taken a lot for your poor brain to process it." He said, mocking Frank who didn't like it one bit.
"You are on the opposite side now, I can hook and kill you." The teenager said and Danny shrugged. "You are getting better at your observation skills, shame you will not be able to catch me." And with that, he started to run away towards the snow lodge.
Danny could hear the fast footsteps running not too far behind him. Jumping through a window he made his way upstairs of the building, the Legion right behind him. A generator being finished sounded in the background as Danny smirked. Running behind a corner on the outside of the second floor. He saw a glimpse of Frank right behind him. Picking up his pace, Danny managed to run through the corridor towards a wooden pallet and slam it exactly at the right time, hitting Frank who let out a loud groan. Just then, another two generators started up in the distance.
"What's wrong Frankie? Bad depth perception?" Danny mocked the teenager who groaned in annoyance. "I am going to fucking kill you with my own hands." He exclaimed and after taking a deep breath he vaulted the palette. Danny quickly turned around and managed to jump through the window that was next to him, unfortunately, Frank was still fast enough to stab him in the back. Danny let out a loud moan from the pain but there was no time to react to it. Rolling on the ground as he fell from the top floor, the ginger turned around the campfire and back on the stairs going to the second floor. Knowing that Frank was basically breathing on his neck, he panicked and turned around a corner he didn't mean to.
Realizing he just ran into a room without any escape, he turned towards the Legion who was laughing, and slowly took steps into the room.
"Well, well, well…" Frank said as he tilted his head to the side, the smile on his mask taunting Danny. "You are going down, Danny…" He said and laughed. However, what the teenager didn't expect was that the other man started to laugh too.
"What do you fucking laughing at?" Frank said, pointing his blade at Danny who didn't stop laughing.
"Oh, you are so funny. You know, Frankie. You are forgetting one vital thing." The ginger said and took a deep breath. He knew he was going to go down soon, he needed to start moving or it would be too late. "I am maybe a survivor now." He said, continuing. "But I still have my strength." With that, Danny raised his leg and kicked the wooden wall that was on the left side of him. Running out, he jumped from the second story again and ran away.
Frank was about to follow him but another generator rang in the background. Leaving the chase, he needed to pay attention to the last generator now.
Danny managed to run inside the killer shack and pulled out a bandage from his pocket. Binding it around his lower body, he then stood up, calmly breathing again. He wasn't fully healed but this was going to need to be done for now. Maybe there was a medkit in the basement chest. Turning towards the basement entrance, Danny silently walked down. No one, good.
It was easy to locate the chest, kicking the rusty lock like he did before, Danny opened the chest. However instead of the red first aid kit. It was a flashlight. Oh, how he hated these things. Taking it anyway, he went up the stairs again. There was a scream in the distance which meant someone just got hooked. Great, just great. He leaves them for a few minutes and they are already dropping like flies. Not that he cared much anyway.
When another person screamed, Danny knew he needed to help them. Running across the whole place, he saw Claudette healing with who seemed to be Ace, he was the last survivor with them in the trial. In the distance, he noticed Feng's blue shirt as she was running from the killer.
The two healing survivors will probably go work on gen so he could go and help Feng. Running as fast as he could he stopped behind a big rock. And just as he predicted. Feng got hit with Frank's blade and fell to the ground. Danny slowly crept around the place to get the best angle. Waiting for the killer to pick up the poor girl, Danny jumped from his hiding and pointed the flashlight at Frank. Managing to blind the man, he released Feng who quickly ran up towards Danny, hugging him. "Oh, Jed thank you!" She was however quickly pushed away. "Not the time, run towards one of the gates." He said as the last generator started working powering the gates. "Go, now!" He shouted and she ran away from them.
However Frank seemed to ignore Danny, he wanted to get at least one kill. Not on Danny's watch. "Hey, fucker!" The ginger shouted, flashing his flashlight toward Frank. Who still seemed to ignore him. "You coward!" He then managed to shout. Running after the Legion, he realized his flashlight lost all its power. However, that didn't stop him. When Feng was running towards the opening exit gates where Ace and Claudette waited. Danny raised his hand with the flashlight and threw the item toward Frank, hitting the teenager in his head. That made the Legion stop and finally turn around. Holding his head with his hand, he growled. "You are so fucking annoying!" Frank shouted and started running towards Danny at a faster speed with his raised blade.
Laughing, Danny turned back and ran away taking them around the whole lodge. The best thing Danny can now hope for is for the rest of the survivors to leave the trial. Frank soon managed to catch up to Danny and slashed him across his back which made him fall to the ground. Out of the corner of his eye, Danny noticed the hatch but the other man didn't.
"You are dead, Johnson." Frank kicked Danny which made the man turn on his back. Looking up at Frank, Danny was grinning which made the other mad. Raising his blade, he was about to stab Danny but the ginger raised his hand, stopping the blade just before it would manage to stab him. A scream was heard through the snowy place as Danny now had a hole in his hand. That didn't stop him however and went to overpower Frank. When the teenager pulled the knife out of the ginger's hand, he was about to stab him again but he got kicked in the stomach, which made him fall to the ground. "See you later, loser!" Danny shouted and with his bloody hand staining the snow, he crawled up on his feet and ran towards the hatch, jumping through it, letting the darkness cover him. The last thing he heard was Frank shouting his name.
