Chapter Text
The palm trees sway in the gentle evening breeze. The sand still warm on my feet from the heat of the day. "Well, now that we're done Levi, what would you say about just buying a tent and sleeping out here? I know it's filthy as you would say, but considering our financial state I don't think we could ask for much better if we want food."
He looked at me, his eyes giving me the look of disappointment. He looked at me like a disappointed parent, it even reminded me of how my dad used to say "I taught you everything I know and ya still don't know nothin!". I stood in the sand for about a solid minute. This man just doesn't back down, his silence seemingly intended to say more than it did considering I have the tendency to be socially stupid. Finally, he spoke.
"Maybe."
Maybe..
I took it as a yes, it was either food or a motel. Obviously a room was expendable over food security. I could only hope that with time, he would be more talkative with me, more open to me. If only he could reciprocate the love I secretly have for him.

"Levi, I brought us some fruit. I have bananas, dragon fruit, mangos, and pineapple. Before you ask, I brought some utensils, soap, and a bucket. Would you mind getting the fire going to purify the salt water?" He sighs as he gets up. I can't help but worry for him, knowing he has people in his world to come back to. That makes getting him home all the more important to me. As much as I want him to be with me forever, I recognize my selfishness in such ridiculous thinking. Science takes trial and error to be successful, but with existence itself and the power of the universe at my fingertips, error is not an option.
Error is not an option
Error is not an option
I find myself sitting in the sand, my fingernails bleeding slightly as I realized I chewed too far down. I let myself over think, so I start setting up the tent. As I reached for it, I hear Levi call me over.
"Y/n! Get over here!" I run over to him against the heavy warm loose sand over to the smooth shoreline.
"What is that ugly frog titan thing and why won't it leave?" I look over next to his feet in the water, a frog fish like creature is nuzzled under his ankle. I gasp at the sight, my heart melts at what looks to be an axolotl somehow surviving in saltwater. Although it was larger and friendlier than the ones at home, I smile at the pink little creature. Levi, of course looks at me skeptically.
"So, what is it?" He asks, clearly irritated. "It's an axolotl! They are usually freshwater from what I know and are usually smaller, and a lot more skittish but this one must like you." I smile at him, of course he only looks at it and frowns.
The sun begins to set as Levi washes his hands in the bucket. I was somehow surprised when instead of eating the banana normally, he peels off one side and starts taking bites out of it with his fork. I can't help but burst out laughing. He looks at me confused, which makes me laugh harder. "I'm sorry for laughing, I just wasn't expecting you to eat a banana like that!" I knew it was dumb of me to laugh, but I felt even dumber when he put his fork down and didn't finish his food, at least I wasn't sure because I went inside the tent to get our bedding ready.

I looked up at the sky, one nearby planet resembling the moon. I then looked at Levi, his eyes glowing against the flickering flames of our camp fire all the while matching the moon. He's nothing but pure beauty. So close, yet so far. I thought to myself. I longed for him ever so dearly, but I knew in time that I could explain it to him.
