Chapter Text
Jisung misses Minho.
It took him hours to accept it.
He doesn’t want to wait till the afternoon. Jisung has nothing to do except for everything he needs to get done.
He doesn’t want to wait for Minho.
Jisung ponders until 11am. It would be weird to pick him up, right?
He drives to the café anyway.
The café is not too full today. Jisung can see a lot of somewhat familiar faces. Seems like only regulars are here.
Soongie, Doongie and Dori are roaming freely around the café, sometimes stopping to get some pets from the guests.
He doesn’t see Minho, but Jeongin is by the bar, chatting with the tall, beautiful man from the other day.
Jisung doesn’t know if he should approach but Jeongin spots him before he can make up his mind.
“Jisung! Good to see you! How is the furnishing going?” Of course he knows. Minho must have told him.
Jisung sighs a little and makes his way to his usual bar stool. Right next to Hyunjin. Just his luck.
“Hyunjin, this is Jisung, the newbie in the village. Jisung, this is Hyunjin, our village artist.” Jeongin introduces them to each other.
Hyunjin reaches his hand out, but Jisung refuses to take it. “I’m Jisung.” He tries not to sound too cold.
Jisung averts his attention back to Jeongin. “We bought some furniture yesterday. Minho wants to help me assembling it later.”, he’s almost bragging. Jeongin raises his eyebrows.
“That’s great Jisung. Are you here now to pick him up?” Hyunjin intervenes.
“Yes. I am. Does that inconvenience you? You and Minho seem close Hyunjin.”
“Uhm… yeah, Minho is awesome. I love the guy. He’s helped me a lot. Do you know him well?” Hyunjin is even more beautiful than Jisung originally realized. For some reason, it makes him angry.
“No. I don’t know him well. I just moved here if you’ve already forgotten.” Jisung spats.
Hyunjin raises both hands protectively. “Hey man I don’t know what your problem is but calm down.”
Jeongin looks concerned. “Is everything alright Jisung? Do you want a cheesecake?”
“No thanks Jeongin. I think I have lost my appetite.” Jisung rushes to stand up but trips over his feet.
Two big hands catch him by the waist. “Whoa, Hannie, you good?”
Minho stands behind him. Too close. Way too close, and Jisung is still pissed off.
He shakes Minho’s hands off. “I’m fine. I should have waited at home.” He rushes outside, leaving the three of them behind.
“Hannie, wait!” Minho catches up with him at the parking lot. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing. I’m fine. Just go back.” Jisung doesn’t want to be mad anymore. He has no right to be. He was rude to Hyunjin. He knows he shouldn’t have been.
“Hey, are you mad at me or something?” Minho is standing there. A concerned look on his face as well.
“Why is that always your first thought Minho? No, I’m not mad at you.” He feels guilty. Guilty for feeling jealous. That’s what this white, hot pit in his stomach is, he realizes. It’s jealousy.
The realization struck him sooner than appreciated. He was jealous of Hyunjin. Of their close bond. Of their relationship, whatever it inclines.
“What’s the matter then, did something happen? Did Hyunjin say something to you?”
“I was the rude one Minho. I stepped out of line, I’m sorry.” Minho seems confused but doesn’t know what to say to that apparently.
“I’ll just drive home.” Jisung opens his car door.
“Jisung, wait.”, Minho grabs his shirt lightly, “Just wait five minutes, please? I just need to grab my stuff, we want to start furnishing your place, don’t we?”
Jisung doesn’t answer. He doesn’t do anything.
Minho sighs. “Just five minutes Hannie, wait for me.” With that, Minho turns and runs back to the café.
Jisung should drive home. He messed up. Really messed up.
He waits in his car nonetheless.
Jeongin and Hyunjin still sit at the bar, confused as to what just happened. Minho jogs right to them.
“Anyone want to tell me what happened?”
Hyunjin shrugs. “To be honest, no idea. We just had a normal interaction, and he suddenly got super pissed off. Did I say anything wrong?”
Jeongin shakes his head. “Nothing comes to mind.” He turns to Minho. “I just introduced those two. Jisung didn’t even take his hand when Hyunjin offered it. I’ve never seen him like that.”
Minho nods, deep in thought. “Alright, I have to jump. Hyunjin, be a dear and help Jeongin with serving. Just bring the cats upstairs after you close shop. My key is by the sink!” Minho doesn’t wait for an answer. He grabs the paint bucket and a green pillow he found and runs back outside.
Jisung waited.
He doesn’t ask about the bucket or the pillow when Minho gets in the car and doesn’t talk to him during the drive.
But he waited. That’s all that counts.
