"She offered her prayers and thanks to the gods, particularly whichever one had decided to take mercy on her brother’s fall. She felt a breeze brush past her bangs, one that sounded like a sigh, and thanked them more fervently. She hesitated, then continued with the request that had been resting heavily upon her heart.
“Please let Mother keep loving me. Please let Zuko keep loving me,” she whispered, not sure who she was asking anymore.
She did not bother asking for her father’s love."

“Father sent me to get the Avatar.”
“He already sent me to capture the Avatar, 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰.”
“Yes, but the Avatar wasn’t actually around three years ago.” She says slowly, like she’s explaining it to a really dumb child. “Now he is. So Father sent someone competent this time.”
Her brother crosses his arm, like a child.
“Then why are you here, if you’re meant to be out there 𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 the Avatar?”
“That would be because Father sent me to kill you.”
Zuko’s good eye widens. Uncle bodily shoves himself between them, hands ready to fire bend at her. Azula rolls her eyes.
“I’m not going to.”(The Avatar State AU where Azula commits a tiny bit of treason, Zuko becomes one with the righteous sort of rage that leads to patricide and Iroh is not sure if this is the best way to stop the war, but he'll go with it).

Everything is wrong and Zuko knows this now. He finally understands just how wrong everything is as his fathers burning hand aims at his face, and his rage boils over. He does the only thing that instinct will allow him. Zuko breathes in, and roars.

Zuko figures out just how wrong the war is and fights back against Ozai in the agni kai. This changes a lot.
