Intro:

WELCOME TO THE 'BACK TO SCHOOL' COMMENT FEST 2016. A DARK COMMENT FEST RUN BY THE HP DARKARTS COMMUNITY TO COINCIDE WITH SUMMER DRAWING TO A CLOSE AND THE RETURN TO HOGWARTS

The format for the Back to School Comment Fest: This fest is intended to be a very low-stress comment fest. There is no minimum or maximum word count (drabbles are welcome) and for the artists among us we welcome rough sketches/drawbles as well as the more polished fully complete pictures. We also allow photo manips, icons and so on for this fest.

Theme: The purpose of the fest is to explore the darker side of Hogwarts, Hogwarts staff, produce fanworks based in or around Hogwarts grounds and utilise the potential for things to go horribly wrong when teenagers have access to the darkest magic. Perhaps you want to focus on the multiple things at Hogwarts that have creepy or dark potential such as The Forbidden Forest, the Room of Requirement, the ghosts, undiscovered rooms or passageways etc. Maybe you want to consider exploring a dark story relating to one of the Professors or some of the students. You might want to create something which explores dark themes when teenagers confronted with the challenges of falling in love and growing up have access to all kinds of potions and magic. Perhaps an unscrupulous Professor takes a particular interest in one of their students or a school trip goes horribly wrong. Hogwarts 8th Year might be your thing. How has the trauma of war impacted upon the students who return? How might Hogwarts have been for those attending during wartime? Use your imagination and go wild.

Prompting: Leave prompts from now onwards by replying to THIS POST ON LIVEJOURNAL. We suggest no more than ten prompts per person, but we won't be too strict about it. Please note for this fest we are not accepting prompts based on The Cursed Child as there is no way of keeping those comments hidden for those who do not want to be spoiled with a fest of this nature. You may, however, write for your own Cursed Child compliant prompt without leaving a comment here, provided spoilers are tagged in the content/warnings.

Claiming: There's no need to formally claim any prompts as each prompt may be filled a number of times. If you want to let the prompter know you are working on a fill for their prompt however, you may do so in reply to their comment. That does not preclude someone else from creating for the same prompt. You can also create for your own prompt if an idea grabs you and there's nothing that fits in the fest prompts.

Posting/Fills: Post your fills anytime between Friday 2 September – Monday 12 September. We will post a masterlist shortly after the fest concludes. We ask that all headers are posted to the HP Darkarts Livejournal community. If you don't have a Livejournal, please complete a header with a link to your fanwork and send it to [email protected] and we will post it for you. Please feel free to use this AO3 collection or your personal journal and then provide the link to your fanwork. You are welcome to pimp the fanwork out to ship or content specific communities as you wish, on Tumblr or elsewhere.
