Summary
Brockton Bay is dying, but no one realizes just how deep the rot runs. The city teeters on the edge, and something waits in the cracks, watching. Listening.
Andrew thinks he knows what lurks beneath the surface. He can see the doors that shouldn’t exist, the alleys that stretch too far, the streets that lead somewhere else when the clock strikes thirteen. He understands. And knowledge is power.
But the deeper he looks, the more the Mad City seems to look back, and the more he sees that the abyss he stares into is deeper than he could have ever imagined.

Summary
The Mad City... a place of Nightmares and terror, where only the Awake can go. One such place within the City is the High School, where the horrifying Mother When ruins the lost children that wind up within her care. The Entity seeks to add such a delectable place of suffering to its domain, but it's not the only thing with designs for the school and its headmistress. Four survivors have wound up in the Mad City, neither a Sleeper or Awoken, and are caught in an impossible game with players and stakes they can scarcely fathom. Though the High School is just as dangerous than the Entity's realm, can they finally find salvation somewhere within the Mad City?
(Part of the Cross Crisis project but has been designed to be read standalone. Nothing else in the series needs to be read to understand this work.)
