Bio

I am a PhD candidate who enjoys reading and writing fanfic to unwind from my dissertation research. I just do this for fun and don't typically have a beta. I adore eighteenth century Victorian literature -- specifically by women authors who wrote strong female characters.

Because of my academic background, I can't bring myself to include quotes from other authors into my own writing without distinguishing them in some way. After a lot of tweaking, testing, and reader feedback I've decided on using dark colored text to distinguish quotes (instead of footnotes, font changes, or italics -- because then I can't use them for thoughts or emphasis). The tense, pronouns, or wording of these quotes may be slightly modified to fit the scene so that we don't have large blocks of quotes that switch in and out of color if the context calls for slight changes to the original text. I'm not condemning any other authors for subtly integrating quotes into their own stories. I understand that this is not the standard practice in fan fiction, that most members of the community are fully able to distinguish original quotes on their own, and that it can be jarring. I'm sorry and I hope you'll bear with me. If you absolutely can't stand the colors, click on the "Hide Creator's Style" button at the top of the page and all of the text will be black.

I like to edit my stories after the whole plot is written to catch any inconsistencies and make sure there are no plot holes or loose threads. I also personally don't like reading stories chapter by chapter -- I have trouble sleeping without plot resolution -- so I upload entire stories at once. I understand that this may cause me to get fewer comments and subscriptions and that it'll take me longer between uploads, but I'll also never strand you in the middle of a cliff hanger. ;)

P.S. I absolutely click on every user who leaves comments or kudos my work, so leave me feedback and I'll go read your stories too!
