I am the mother of four children, aged 25, 19, 13, and 11 (Referred to here as Maeve, Ika, Bees, and Nimmy.) I teach microbiology and other similar subjects to students preparing for allied health professions, and I dabble in fanfiction and original fiction.

I frequently populate stories with original characters because the settings of some universes are characters in themselves, and I often like to get out and explore places where the main characters don't go.

I have an inordinate fondness for telepaths. Really inordinate. It's rather embarrassing.

My personal philosophy: I dislike when franchises write off an entire category of people, like ST does with genies and Doctor Who often does with cyborgs and synthetic people. Everybody gets a seat at the table. Everybody. This may relate to the inordinate fondness mentioned above and almost certainly relates to my being autistic and having ADHD, along with my husband and children. I'm becoming increasingly political about that--and have since begun a second graduate program to study Universal Design in Higher Education. Also I am yer mom. I am everybody's mom.
