The main reason I made an account was to support my new but beloved writer friends. UPDATE: five years later, and we are still friends!!
beta reader: n. most often found in its natural habitat of the internet, this voracious creature survives on a diet of fresh words (genre/fandom preference may apply depending on strain). Many beta readers form symbiotic relationships with species such as Authors, Storytellers, and Wordsmiths, with the betas emitting feedback and praise and the other species providing a steady nutrient source. Within the beta reader species hides the elusive editor beta. While sharing habitat and dietary needs with the beta reader, this specialized subspecies may also expel grammar, cadence, story structure, and characterization suggestions along with praise. Despite its more aggressive nature than the beta reader, good editor betas can be invaluable in the production of text-based works.
