I wrote my first fanfic when I was in high school and had never actually heard of fanfic yet. It was... awful. Soon after, I fell in love with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and discovered there were others who liked writing fanfic like me, and it's been downhill ever since. (Note, I'm not that old, we had the internet back then, I just didn't think to try looking up other people's writings.)
In 2001, I discovered Harry Potter and while I can't say everything from those days was good, I had learned a lot from my first adventures in writing fanfic, and I'll at least admit my HP fics are mine. I was a big MWPP fan, and those works are posted at ff.net. :) (my BtVS fics are still out there, but I'm afraid to actually look at them to see what they're like now.
I've bounced around different fandoms since then, but my primary interests have been: BtVS/AtS, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, CSI, Doctor Who (10!), NCIS, Supernatural and Batman.
I tend to stick to canon pairings, and the older I get the more interested in family centric fics I get, rather than any pairings.
Fandoms, Characters, and Pairings:
Supernatural - Sam and Dean as brothers. No pairings.
Batman -Dick Grayson!! is my fav, bonus points for Batfamily. I'm a casual Dick/Babs shipper too. I also really love the Dynamic Due 2.0.
Avengers team fics. Cap and Thor are my favorites.
Star Wars - Jaina Solo & Jagged Fel. J/J.

Buffy & Angel - Um, Buffy and Angel? And Buffy/Angel? :) (This is an old pairing and I can tell I've grown up because the fact that the series starts in high school is uncomfortable to me.)
