Strong writing can bring tears to my eyes. If i leave kudos on your story, that's probably what it means. Comments, on the other hand, are usually about what made me laugh, guffaw, chortle, chuckle, or snicker. Sometimes, however, I leave weird mediative comments (only vaguely related to the story) when reading in the middle of the night because I can’t sleep, and it seems that some authors find those exceedingly annoying.
I am persnickety about grammar and vocabulary, in no small part because awkward use of language can very easily spoil the emotional effect for me. American English is my native tongue, and if asked very nicely I might be willing to give advice on its use.
