Chapter Text
Their relationship was weird.
Everybody in class 3-A could tell you that. Hell even a person that had spent at least five minutes with those two could agree on that.
They didn't know much about it though.
Midoriya Izuku and Bakugou Katsuki were childhood friends, probably knew each other since they were four or something, played sometimes together and stuff. And okay that made sense because they lived in the same neighbourhood. Nothing too deep, right?
Well, wrong.
They didn't just know each other.
Midoriya Inko and Bakugou Mitsuki had met during college and quickly became friends, a strong relationship that later developed into best friends. They lost contact some years later due to Inko finishing college and moving to another city.
They were still best friends, though.
Fuck distance Mitsuki used to say.
Years later they found each other again, pregnant and surprised after Inko went to welcome the new neighbours. Long story short, they became best friends again and promised to not let go again of each other.
Which basically meant that Izuku and Katsuki knew each other since literally birth.
They shared birthdays, spent christmas together, ate All Might themed candy while watching Mitsuki's soap opera on fridays, had playdates and sleepovers and sometimes they even went on vacation together. If you asked their mothers they would tell you they acted like they were attached by the hip.
They were best friends. Family even.
So you can imagine how weird the first years of the fallout of their friendship were.
Inko and Mitsuki stayed friends though, which was something Izuku apreciated a lot, his mother didn't have any other friends and their family seemed to have turned their backs on them after finding Izuku was quirkless. His father abandoning them. So yeah, the fact that Bakugou Mitsuki hadn't let go of his mother even with all of that and instead offered support and love made Izuku want to cry.
Katsuki and Izuku were not best friends anymore, but even with that, they were probably the person who knew the most about the other.
But people didn't need to know all of that. So they kept quiet about it and didn't correct their classmates.
Things were improving though. The good mornings of the grenette were now answered, they gave each other advice and sometimes even watched some All Might movies together in each other's room.
Izuku and Katsuki seemed to want to keep it as their little secret, so even if everybody in class 3-A knew about it, no one said a word.
So yeah, everyone knew the little fact that those two were childhood friends.
''Hey, Bakugou.'' Kaminari said.
Kirishima, Kaminari, Jirou and Bakugou were in Kirishima's room trying to finish their math homework while Katsuki, who had been adamant of joining their study session, helped them once in a while when they got stuck in some equation.
''What.'' Katsuki responded annoyed, eyes still focused on the problem he was trying to solve. The ash blond had been softly muttering for a while about which could be the best method to get the answer.
That was when something clicked inside Kaminari's head.
''I've been thinking.''
''That's new.'' Jirou spoke, earning a scoff from Katsuki and a betrayed gasp from Kaminari.
''ANYWAY.'' Kaminari said loudly. ''You and Midoriya are childhood friends.''
''So?'' The way he didn't deny it like he usually did took off guard Kaminari, he smiled a little nevertheless.
''You were muttering.''
Bakugou looked up quickly to Kaminari. ''I was not.''
''Yeah, you kind of were.'' Jirou added. They all had stopped trying to pay attention to their homework at some point, focusing on the conversation instead. ''Kind of like Midoriya, you know.''
''Shut up, Hot Topic.''
''But like... less intense.'' Kaminari said.
''I didn't hear it.''
''See? Hair for brains didn't and that's because I-''
''Like, this time I didn't, but you usually do it when you are super focused on something.'' Kirishima cut Bakugou off. ''We don't mind so don't sweat it, bro.''
''What the fuck, I DO NOT MUTTER.'' Kaminari laughed at that and Bakugou's head snapped in his direction. ''That's the nerd's thing, not mine.''
''Sure.'' The blond said, obviously not believing a word.
''You.'' He pointed to Kaminari and quickly lunched towards him, tugging him by the collar with one hand and the later gulped when explosions appeared on Katsuki's left hand.
''It's okay, Midoriya has also some of your habits.'' The girl said. Bakugou let go of the other blond and Kaminari fell to the floor with a thud.
''What?'' Katsuki slighly widened his eyes. ''Okay I'm out, fuck all of you.'' He said and started to collect his things.
''Noooo, I still need to understand this.'' Kirishima pleaded while tugging the hem of the other boy's pants. Bakugou stood up and looked at him in the eye, narrowing his.
''Nah.'' He finally said and turned his back to them, door already opened.
''No mercy.'' Kirishima mumbled and let go of his pants.
''Maybe I'll be Trac-'' Kaminari started singing happily.
''NO!'' Jirou clasped her hand over the other boy's mouth.
Bakugou then exited the room, but instead of going back to his room where those idiots could bother him he decided to go somewhere else.
Deku's room.
The thought crossed his mind, stopping him on his tracks. He quickly erased it from going further. He had been spending more time with Deku lately, which wasn't half bad to be honest, not like he was going to say that to the nerd even in his deathbed.
Their relationship was far from being fixed but they were trying, succeeding even. He guessed that was the thing that mattered the most.
Katsuki decided he was hungry and, with a sigh and messy mind after the conversation in Kirishima's room, he started to go down the stairs in order to cook something in the kitchen, which would also distract him. Flawless plan if you asked him.
He nodded to himself.
Yep, fuck you Kaminari.
Two weeks had passed and the topic hadn't been brought up again, which surprised Katsuki to be honest since all of them were nosy bitches like his old hag. And that made him almost forget about it.
Almost.
He had been paying more attention to Deku. Searching for any kind of trace of his own habits on the grenette's ones and viceversa, but he came empty so he kind of brushed it off.
Till this day of course, because the universe knew he was a dick.
''I'm so confused.'' Mina said, setting her tray of food in the table where Katsuki had been eating peacefully in the cafeteria. All of them nodded except Bakugou who didn't know what they were talking about.
''I didn't even know the cafeteria had hot sauce.'' Sero commented. That grabbed Katsuki's attention and he looked up, Kaminari, Kirishima, Mina and Sero already starting to eat.
''They don't.'' Katsuki said.
''How would you- yeah okay makes sense you know.'' Kirishima said. All of them having worried and confused expressions in their faces.
''You all look like your fish Nemo just died.''
''We saw something.'' Mina started.
''Congratulations, you have eyes.'' Katsuki responded in a sarcastic tone.
''Indeed we do'' Mina continued, making Katsuki cry a little in the inside. ''But that isn't the reason of our post-traumatic stress. Midoriya is.''
''What about Deku.''
''He was eating.''
He took a deeep breath. ''I swear on your dead fish Nemo that if you keep giving me vague answers I'm going to rip your horns off.'' Katsuki threatened.
Mina gasped and touched her horns worried. ''He was eating...'' That's it. Katsuki started to- ''With hot sauce.''
''But like he poured the whole fucking thing in his food.'' Sero made a puff noise while shaking his hand imitating what the blond supposed was, Deku pouring hot sauce in his food.
That stopped him from getting up and strangulating the girl. ''So?'' He started eating again. ''Deku likes spicy food.'' He said, like it was the most obvious thing.
''But he looks like a marshmallow.'' Mina added.
''A marshmallow.'' Katsuki repeated slowly. ''Besides, I wasn't the one who burned his tastebuds, it was his mother.'' He shoved a spoon of rice in his mouth. ''Her spicy food is the shit.''
''Midoriya-san?'' Mina said.
''Did you just compliment someone?'' Sero asked in disbelief.
''How the fuck do you even know her?'' Katsuki asked, ignoring Sero's question.
''Well I bumped into Midoriya once while shopping bikinis and he introduced me to his mother. So sweet...'' Mina explained.
''I though you were the only masochist in class...'' Kaminari mumbled softly, probably for Bakugou not to hear.
''YOU WANNA SAY THAT AGAIN, PIKACHU?!''
''No, thanks.'' The blond quickly said raising his hands in surrender.
''Excuse the behaviour of my friend, please.'' Kirishima said and proceeded then to hit Denki on the back of his head. He looked like a mother that had been called from the school because his son pushed Tiffany down the stairs after calling hs mom ugly. ''He isn't right in the head.''
''That's because you hit him.'' Mina said.
Katsuki wondered why people liked to have friends and why was he still here. He finished his food and the bell indicated it was time to get to class. The others seemed to have finished also so he stood up and started to walk towards his classroom. The others would follow. Or not if he had some luck.
He had to ask Deku if the cafeteria sold hot sauce.
''MILK, MILK, MILK!'' Uraraka screamed. ''OR WATER, WHATEVER!''
''I have ice.''
''That would be very unsanitary, Todoroki.''
''I DON'T CARE!''
''Why did you even ate my food?'' Asked Izuku with a pout.
Uraraka answered this with a deadly glare that made Izuku shiver.
''Nevermind!'' He kept walking fast, because Iida had already scold them for running two times. Uraraka had had the great idea of tasting the green eyed boy's food without him knowing after he had added hot sauce in it. Which led them to a stressful search for milk in order to revive the brunette's tastebuds. ''I think Tokoyami usually brings milk to-''
''Fuck milk!'' Uraraka yelled while walking towards the girl's bathroom. ''I'm going to drink this shitty water and the drown myself in it.''
Todoroki and Izuku gulped while Iida kept chopping the air after hearing Ochako's words.
''And you are not going to get near my food again.'' She pointed Izuku.
''But you were the one that-''
''Let it go, Midoriya.'' Todoroki whispered to the grenette while patting his back gently.
The door of the girl’s bathroom opened again, a smiling Uraraka peeking from it. “Also, don’t wait for me, drowning takes a while.”
The three boys nodded and started to make their way to class.
''So, did you finally watch Frozen?'' Izuku asked with excitement. The green eyed boy had been trying to convince Shoto to watch the movie since they had started to be friends, knowing that he finally did it kind of made Izuku proud.
''Yeah, today I may try some of Elsa's moves.'' He said while imitating some. Izuku giggled at that, he suddenly imagined his friend trying to build a ice castle.
''I need to see that.'' Izuku didn't think any of Elsa's attacks would be very useful in any fight but it may be funny to watch the other boy focused on practicing them.
''Sure.'' The taller boy nodded.
''Uraraka is going to be late for class. This is so irresponsible.'' The blue haired boy said while entering the classroom. ''I hope she doesn't live up to her words.''
''It's okay, Iida-kun. Uraraka wouldn't just drown herself.'' A pause. ''Because that's hard to do.'' Izuku looked at Todoroki for moral support, who only shrugged. ''Right?''
Okay, he was starting to get worried.
''Midoriya!'' He heard Kaminari yelling, he turned to greet him as he sat down in his seat. The blond jogged a little to where Todoroki and him were, Iida already waiting patiently with a perfect posture for classes to start in his own seat. ''I saw you pouring hot sauce on your food.''
Izuku nodded. ''Yeah, why?''
''I didn't know you liked spicy food.''
''Neither did we.'' Todoroki said. ''Uraraka may die today.''
Kaminari started laughing. ''Good one, Todoroki.'' He then looked at the serious expressions of the two boys and suddendly stopped. ''Oh, Uraraka, you poor thing...'' He said with a sad tone.
''My mom cooks a lot with spices so I kind of got used to it.'' The grenette started and showed the half empty bottle. ''And I found this in my room yesterday.''
''Why would you have that?''
Izuku shrugged. ''Dunno.'' Kaminari nodded at that and suddenly Kacchan appeared behind him.
''Deku, where the fuck did you get that.''
''My room.''
''How?''
''Mom, probably.''
''So there isn't spicy food at the cafeteria.''
''Sadly.'' Izuku thought about it. Asking wouldn't hurt, right? ''Do you want to go and buy some after school? This one is almost finished and we don't have any at the dorms.''
''Fine.'' And with that, he sat down on his seat in front of Izuku, turning around to keep talking with the grenette. Izuku smiled a little.
Kaminari and Todoroki weren't paying attention to their conversation but instead having one on their own. They stopped abruptly and turned to look at them.
Kacchan and him exchanged a look. Weird.
''We had an idea.'' Kaminari started. Something twinkled in his eyes.
''Yes.'' Todoroki nodded.
''I'm out then.'' Katsuki said. So much stupidity for a day.
''You can win...'' Shoto said, clearly a little confused about what to say next. He looked at Kaminari. ''Money.''
Thank, God Uraraka wasn't here.
''You may now have the right to speak.'' The ash blond said, suddenly interested in the conversation.
''Is it illegal?'' Izuku asked in a low voice. Illegal and money together would summon Iida and Uraraka and he did not want that.
''No.'' Kaminari whispered, he look deep in thought for a minute. ''I think.''
''Okay so what. Speak up, Icyhot''
''We have noticed you two have a lot of habits in common.'' Todoroki said. ''And we thought about making a-''
''Bet with both of you!'' Kaminari interrumpted. ''What about being each other's self for five days?''
''How much?''
''Ohh, Midoriya asking the big questions.'' Kaminari wiggled his eyebrows.
''60000 yens.'' Todoroki said with a monotone tone and Izuku choked on air.
''Wh-''
''Deal.'' Bakugou said quickly.
''Todoroki, why.'' Izuku looked at his friend worried.
''It will all be my father's money because I don't know what more to do to piss him off. This seemed like a good idea.'' He said.
Izuku sighed. ''And if we lose?''
''Which we will not.'' Katsuki added.
''I get the money.'' Kaminari said with a happy smile.
''The fuck, isn't it his old man's money.''
''I was joking.'' Sad expression in his features.
''No, you were not.''
''No, I was not.'' Smiling once again, the blond kept talking. ''Bakugou can cook for us for a week and Midoriya... ideas, Todoroki.''
''Haircut.''
Everyone stopped talking.
''Dude...''
''Shit, that is good.''
''So?'' Kaminari asked.
''It is on.'' Izuku spoke with a dangerous look and smile.
This was going to be interesting.
