Chapter 1: Howls and Misunderstandings
Chapter Text
Katsuki Bakugou sat on a stool inside Mina's bathroom while the woman gave the final touches to his make-up. He'd dressed up in torn-up jeans and a ragged t-shirt, keeping it simple as per the pink-haired woman's wishes. Mina had spent an hour on his arms, gluing prosthetic claws and covering him in blond, synthetic hair. Then she'd spent the next hour working on his face, placing a prosthetic for his nose and then covering him up with only GOD knew what else. The last thing she'd done was set in his made to order slit pupil, yellow colored contacts.
"Aw shit, Bakugou! You look great!" Eijirou snickered as he held his cellphone up to take a picture of his best friend.
"You are a masterpiece." She made a chef's kiss gesture, stepping out of the bathroom and falling into Eijirou's arms.
Katsuki turned to look at himself in the mirror, his mouth gaping at how freaking feral he looked. She'd outdone herself, all that plaster and fake hair on his arms really did look like a werewolf's. His face? The snout Mina had plastered on looked like it belonged to him for real, the eye shadow around his eyes making his yellow contacts pop out more. She'd combed his hair in such a way his ears couldn't be seen, a pair of pointy, clip-on wolf ears sitting on his head.
"Fuck YES. I look KILLER." The blond growled placing both his hands on the marble top as he admired his porcelain, glued-on fangs.
"You already killed to begin with." The couple had a fit of laughter going on, one Katsuki wasn't sharing in.
"Okay, you fools go on to the party. This girl has to witch up and you two need to help Todoroki be a good host." Mina shooed them both away from her bathroom locking the door once Katsuki was fully out.
"Let's go, bro." Eijirou shook his head all the while getting out of the woman's bedroom. She'd made him the favor of gluing some neat horns to his forehead plus given him some wicked face patterns to go with his Oni costume. The get-up consisted of a set of thick ropes over his chest, wrapped in an X over his pecs and a pair of traditional Japanese pants coupled with wooden sandals. He'd practiced walking on those for weeks just so he could pull them off today.
Eijirou was the one that would drive them to Todoroki's house, the couple of them getting in his old blue convertible celica before speeding off to the rich part of town. Todoroki was a rich kid and his family had the largest mansion and plot of land in the county. Once they'd arrived, they handed the keys to the valet and set off to walk up the stairs that led to the receiver of the enormous modern mansion. Shouto Todoroki received them at the top, the man dressed up as a sort of roman warrior with everything but the helmet, his entire attire in shades of black and blue. He'd added a hood to his cape, and he'd gone as far as using black lipstick and blue eye shadow.
"What the fuck, half n' half?" Katsuki eyed him up and down unable to pin down what the man was going for.
"Yeah, who convinced you to wear make-up?" Eijirou continued.
"Welcome to the Underworld, I am Hades and I'll have your souls remain here for eternity." Perhaps if he hadn't said that line in monotone, he might have sounded scary.
Katsuki and Eijirou stared at the man with smiles on their faces, trying their hardest not to laugh. A useless attempt.
"Buddy, you need to work on your tone!" Eijirou chuckled, Katsuki full-blown laughing his ass off.
"Holy shit, that was soooo spooky, half n' half! You terrified the soul out of me!" The blond mocked, grasping at his stomach, gasping for air.
"It's a good thing you're both here, Momo thought I'd be fine on my own, but clearly I'm not." Shouto rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "Come, I'll show you where the alcohol is. We're expecting people to truly flood in in about twenty minutes. I'll show you where the good stuff is and please don't tell anyone outside our circle about it."
"Oof, you can trust us, odd eyes. Anything for your fancy booze."
Katsuki took to drinking, downing a whole bottle of pink champagne on his own. He'd convinced Shouto to let him use a thermos to carry it around when people started flooding the house.
"It's the least classy bullshit I've ever done, but this champagne is glorious and I've been looking forwards to it for some time." Katsuki rose his thermos, taking a large gulp from it, like the gremlin he was.
"...You're not having any more until New Year's." Shouto rolled his eyes, a faint smile painting his face. He was already tipsy, half n' half was a super light drinker after all.
The boys hung out together welcoming guests right until the girls arrived at the mansion. They drank and danced for some time before a Persephone Momo took Shouto away to be a good host while Mina took Eijirou upstairs to get some of their sexual tension released. He did stay with Ochako and Tsu for a while longer but eventually, they also started making out and there was no level of drunkenness that could keep him around those two being so disgustingly adorable.
He took his thermos full of pink champagne and headed out to the gardens on the mansion's backyard. The Todorokis had an unnecessarily big maze on their premises. If you'd gotten lost in it enough times, it was probable you knew the right turns that would lead to the lonely, wooden gazebo that sat in the middle of a small pond.
Peace and quiet reigned here. He could finish getting drunk, and maybe howl at the moon a couple times without being disturbed. It sucked all his friends had someone to be with, rubbing their happiness all over his face. His intention was to find someone who he could hook up with too... but no one had called his attention, even as tipsy as he was.
And, well... actually hooking up with a random extra would have meant delaying the inevitable. The next day he'd wake up feeling like shit and wanting to forget he got laid in the first place, like with all his other one-night stands.
Besides, what better way to spend the spookiest of nights than alone, drinking fancy alcohol and howling at the moon?
Funny enough, tonight's moon was full, which only made the fact that he was howling at it like a madman a little more reasonable. In his mind at least. Once he was done howling, he finished drinking his alcohol and laid down on the gazebo's floor. His head was swimming and he felt like a fit of giggles was coming onto him. Well, it was either that or he was about to start crying like the miserable, lonely college student he thought he was right now.
"Hey! You can't be here!" An unfamiliar voice spoke to him, forcing him to sit up if only to glare at the stranger that had DARED interrupt his goddamn sulking. "We have to go!"
"I can be wherever I want, I'm best friends with the host." Katsuki spoke up sounding clear, impressively enough. Maybe he wasn't that drunk. "You're the one that shouldn't be here, pack your ass and get the fuck—"
The man felt something come up his throat as he stood up. Hurrying to the gazebo's edge, he opened his mouth to vomit on the pond. Nope, he was drunk enough.
The stranger came up to him, his hand hovering over the blond's shoulder. It was funny, he smelled like forest and... sweat? It wasn't a bad scent, but it was still stupid funny considering that by this hour, if you were at a party you either smelled like booze or you smelled like sex.
"You're in danger!" The stranger repeated holding his arm. Were... those... fake claws like his? "We have to leave, we don't want the hunters to find us."
"What the fuck are you talking about? Are you high?" Katsuki pulled his arm away from the stranger, stepping out of the gazebo and onto the cobblestone path that allowed one to reach it. "Or is this a sex thing?"
"What?" the man stepped out of the gazebo along with him, the moonlight making it easier for Katsuki to see how he looked.
Turned out this guy was also dressed up as a werewolf. Two large, brown, fluffy ears rested in a bundle of wild green curls, the man's hands still very much human but sporting very convincing claws. His large green eyes had slit pupils, they even seemed to glow. Freckles covered his cheeks, and he had fangs that stuck out of his mouth. There was a tail too... and it was wagging??? That's some expensive robotic prop.
"What is wrong with you? Doesn't it hurt???" The man once more approached him, Katsuki looking at his feet while trying to catch his own balance.
This guy's barefoot? Katsuki wondered seeing the stranger's feet. They looked odd, perhaps... he wasn't barefoot? Or Katsuki was super drunk because this guy's feet looked a little disfigured, like paws?? What.
"I'll take you with me whether you like or not. We're few to begin with." The stranger stepped closer, growling. What the fuck was up with this dude?
Katsuki once more tried to step back, the stranger coming at him fast. The blond tripped on his feet and fell backwards, the stranger falling on him and pinning him down.
"Oh, so it is a sex thing." Katsuki blurted, half wanting to punch the other guy off him and half just... maybe letting whatever had to happen, happen.
The stranger lowered his head, sniffing his chest and neck. He rose his face afterwards, scrunching up his nose and making Katsuki glare at him.
"Get the fuck off me, extra." He tried pushing him off but accomplished nothing, the man over him was super strong. Or, once again, he was super drunk. "Oi, get the fuck off."
"You smell like alcohol, I can't catch your wolf scent." The man rolled his pretty eyes, his pupils shifting size. WOW those were some fancy-ass contacts. The man once again sniffed him down, god knew why, and then pulled the blond up unto his feet effortlessly. The sudden shift made the blond's stomach uneasy again, something crawling up his throat.
"I uh, fuck—" Katsuki turned his face, leaned a bit and vomited over the water by pure luck.
"This must be your first moon, don't worry, I'll take you somewhere safe."
"Wait what—" Katsuki was trying to SAY something when the stranger picked him up and swung him over his shoulder as if he weighed nothing. "PUT ME DOWN, HOLY FUCK. WHAT THE SHIT?! FUCK, YOU ASSHOLE!"
"Calm down! Stop struggling so much!" The stranger held him with a vice grip as he flailed and caused his stomach to become more upset.
"WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!"
"Why are you so crazy—"
Katsuki managed to attain some level of common sense and willed himself to knee the stranger on his stomach.
"OW!"
That moment of weakness provided a window for Katsuki to push himself off the other. He fell on his face but didn't give himself time to feel pain. He just got up, threw a punch at the man and managed to land it on his face.
"NOBODY assaults Katsuki Bakugou." The blond howled before drunkenly kicking the stranger's side. That had done more damage to himself than to his opponent, as the impact made him feel sick again. Falling to his side, Katsuki crawled to the edge and vomited for the third time today. "Nobody gets Katsuki Bakugou drunk like Katsuki Bakugou, fucking shit."
"You done? If this is how you thank someone trying to save you, I don't want to know what you do to your enemies." The stranger picked him up, Katsuki too weak from having vomited yet again to struggle. "Talk about being loud and rude. Such a rowdy wolf, definitely not good for you to be roaming around on your own."
"You fucker, put me down..." Katsuki complained, drowsy and feeling like his entire world was coming and going.
"Soon."
The ground vanished in an instant. Well, not vanished per se, just became really far away. It was absolutely crazy.
"What the hell..." He said in a low voice, sobering up faster than he'd ever manage in his entire lifetime. "What..."
He stared at the stranger's tail, reaching for it and pulling on it. It wasn't coming off, the stranger even yelped.
"HEY!!! THAT HURTS!" They landed on the ground and Katsuki let go of the tail from the surprise. "Okay, upfront it is."
Katsuki got manhandled, pulled forwards and now being held bridal style. Katsuki could see the man's face, glowing green eyes staring down at him. That wasn't a special effect, this guy's eyes were glowing... and his EARS WERE REAL. He saw them twitching! What the fuck!
"Holy shit. You're a real-life furry."
"Uh no, we are werewolves." The stranger seemed confused, but he was giggling. "Guess you must've been turned without knowing. That explains why you were hanging out at a human's place on a full moon night."
"I need to stop drinking. Maybe half n' half put something in the champagne to get me to stop consuming his fancy shit..." He was rambling, the stranger readjusting him in his arms and managing to shut him up.
"Don't struggle or I could drop you."
"Wait, where are you—" And up in the air they went again, Katsuki freezing and holding on to the stranger for dear life.
Too drunk for this. Too drunk for this. This is utter bullshit!
The werewolf took them out of town, bouncing from spot to spot and at one point from ceiling to ceiling. Then he just carried him through woods to a cabin. Now, if the blond thought of escaping, his chance was pretty much gone once they'd landed on the last house before the woods. This was the middle of fucking nowhere, even if he managed to escape, he'd probably die before finding his way back to town as drunk as he was.
"We're safe now. You can spend your first full moon here without exposing us."
Once he had his feet on the ground, Katsuki stared at his kidnapper with a very... well... traumatized expression. Blank stare and everything.
"...come, you should finish transforming. You're already pretty much there!" The stranger started taking his clothes off, Katsuki too fucking dead inside to give a shit. "I'm Izuku Midoriya."
And that's the last thing he said before he'd stripped off his underwear and his bones started cracking. Brown fur sprouted from the places chunks of his skin fell off, the man slowly and for what the blond could tell, painfully transforming into a hulking, fucking dire wolf.
"Eh?" Huh. Fuck.
The wolf wagged his tail, rounding up on the blond's legs and rubbing himself against them. He bit into the other's pants and pulled, Katsuki FINALLY shaking himself out of it.
"Oi. NO!" He groaned trying to get Izuku to stop pulling on his pants. "I'm... I'm not a werewolf, you stupid mutt!"
Izuku stared at him, turning his head in confusion. The wolf whined, sitting down and lowering his face.
"You think I'm fucking with you?" Katsuki growled angrily before he removed his ears. The wolf whined even louder when he ripped his fake nose off. "See?! You kidnapped a human from a costume party, fucking dumbass!"
Izuku stood on his four paws again, running circles around the blond before he decided to start pushing him towards the cabin.
"You can't keep me here!" Katsuki complained as he got closer to the cabin's steps. "My friends will worry!"
Looking at the moon was all Izuku did to reply, as if staring at the bright celestial body would somehow grant Katsuki the power to understand him.
"What is it?"
Izuku whined moving his gaze from the moon to the blond's face.
Right, werewolf. If he'd transformed into a wolf, then he'd stay like that till morning. Riding him wasn't an option with how drunk he was, he might be sober now but midway he could fall off and that would complicate things. Fuck.
"Al-fucking-right, here's what we're going to do. I'm going to sleep off my ridiculous drunkenness and in the morning after you've run under the moonlight, eaten little kids or whatever the fuck it is you do, you'll take me home." He crouched down so he was eye level with Izuku, who took to licking his cheek excitedly. Frankly, Katsuki would rather have him go for his throat than act like an oversized puppy. "Don't try to act cute out of this. I am WAY too fucking drunk to give a fuck."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, sighing as he went up the small flight of stairs and placed his hand on the doorknob. He stopped when he heard the wolf growling, turning around to see what on earth could be wrong now. Izuku ran up to him and pushed him indoors, his whines making it seem a matter of utmost urgency.
"What the actual fuck?"
His growl got angrier, the wolf moving down the steps again to jolt about frantically. Feral eyes, beady green orbs lit with bright green hellfire, glared at him, the wolf's maw open wide as he snarled rabidly. The puppy was gone, what was left was a terrifying creature that wanted to eat him. Okay, maybe he DID prefer having act like a puppy.
"Shit!" He exclaimed going inside and slamming the door shut just in time. The wolf had jumped towards him, crashing headfirst into solid wood. The door was sturdy, unnaturally so considering Izuku must've weighted close to two hundred pounds with how big and burly he looked like. Three consecutive thuds shook the door before all remained quiet. Seconds later, the blond felt his world turn, his vision flickering on and off before he blacked out.
Chapter 2: Howls and Hangovers
Chapter Text
Now, hangovers were a mean friend to Katsuki to begin with. The fact he'd apparently slept on the floor didn't help the ache in his body. He sat up, noticing he'd been covered up with a warm blanket at least. That should've made sure he didn't catch a cold on top of the terrible headache he had going on right now. He touched his head, the weird unpleasant feeling of losing balance accompanying the gesture. His costume was a fucking mess, his ears were missing although he vaguely remembered taking them off. The plaster on his arms had fallen off in places, the pieces scattered on the floor.
"Okay...silver lining, at least I didn't wake up in a gutter." If his costume was a mess, he did NOT want to see his face. His fake nose was gone too so that was a pretty good sign that whatever remained of his makeup did NOT look okay.
He groggily got on his feet, careful to keep his balance as best as he could. The world was far too bright, and his head was too heavy, but he had to figure out where in the fuck he'd woken up at. The small cabin was made and equipped to be lived in by one person. The smell of burning wood remained, he looked to his back and noticed the fireplace had been in use although not the night before. There wasn't anyone else in here with him, so he assumed his night had been pretty insane.
"Ah shit. Definitely gotta piss..." He went over to the only room in the cabin, wishing it was a bathroom, only to find a small bedroom with a rather cozy looking bed. He sighed, settling for going outside to relieve his bladder. The morning light was blinding at first, his head pounding and making him want to hurl.
"Where in the fuck...?" He mumbled, coming down the stairs to the cabin and walking over to the bushes to do his thing. "What the actual shit did I even do last night?"
He had barely finished zipping his pants up when he heard the sound of crunching leaves. He darted for the cabin, as groggy as he was, and sat by the stairs. Someone was approaching the cabin, the sound of footsteps getting louder. Katsuki had NO idea what to expect but given he was alive and fully clothed, he doubted he'd gotten in bed with a serial killer or someone who wished to harm him.
From the bushes, a rather well-built man, full set of abs and packing very much up front, came out in all his naked glory covered in blood and mud. The man's mouth and his neck in particular were covered in thick layers of dried-up blood. Perhaps he'd spoken too soon about the serial killer part.
"Oh! You're up!" Katsuki blinked twice as he noticed the man's... wolf ears... perk up over unruly green curls, his tail wagging behind him excitedly. "Hello..."
Memories from the night before came flooding back. All the crazy stuff from the gazebo, the jumping around they'd done and, finally, this guy's ability to shift into a fucking DIRE WOLF.
"Holy fuck. You're a furry." Katsuki got up, his eyes running up and down the green-haired man. "Werewolf, not a furry. Shit."
"Umm, sorry about last night... I really thought you were one of us." The green-haired got closer, Katsuki edging back. "I won't hurt you, otherwise, I would have eaten you last night... don't you think?"
The man smiled, showing off all his teeth including his very sharp canines. He looked very friendly, even with his fairly menacing smile. Katsuki stayed still as the other approached, the werewolf taking to looking at him, ears perked up and pupils blown.
"You smell sick, all that alcohol from last night must be really working on you now, huh?"
Now that the man was closer, Katsuki could fully appreciate the smell he had on him, mint, forest and sweat... and boy, looking down at his well-endowed lower half was making him feel things.
"...now you smell funny." The werewolf scrunched up his nose, his cheeks flushed and his ears drooping. "You should go inside, drink some water? I'll go put on some clothes."
"O-Okay." Katsuki had officially stammered in the presence of furry hot piece of ass. First time to happen.
His headache was killing him, so he felt grateful to re-enter this man's abode to drink a bottle of cold water from a hidden mini-fridge while he sat on his kidnapper's sofa.
"You remember my name?" The man asked coming back to the blond's field of vision wearing a set of baggy pants, a hoodie and a pair of red sneakers. Katsuki shook his head, the other running a towel over his now cleaned up face. "It's Izuku Midoriya, I know you're Katsuki Bakugou from all your rambling last night."
"Rambling? Sorry about annoying you, my kidnapper." Katsuki rolled his eyes, letting himself lean back on the sofa.
"I have some acetaminophen for you, here." Izuku poked his hand, handing him the pills before plopping by his side. Katsuki took the pills and took them with a gulp of water before he dared look at the rather bubbly werewolf at his side. "I'm really sorry I kidnapped you, I'll take you back home whenever you're ready. I can't jump around in broad daylight, so we'll have to walk."
"...couldn't you smell I was... human?" Katsuki asked, closing his eyes and begging the pills wouldn't take too long to kick in.
"Couldn't, the scent of alcohol was too strong... you looked like such a convincing wolf too!" Izuku looked away, his ears twitching a little. Huh, cute. "I promise, I'll be out of your hair in no time."
"...what about your secret?"
"I'm sure you'll keep it. You don't smell like a bad guy." Izuku scratched the back of his head, looking quite nervous. "Actually... I shouldn't let you go back. So, if you could promise you won't tell anyone, I'll feel a little better about this whole mess."
Katsuki glared at the werewolf, the latter whining under the pressure.
"Your secret's safe with me." Katsuki felt compelled to pat him, scratch the spots behind his ears a little. It seemed appropriate. Probably wasn't. "Just get me the fuck home."
Katsuki's headache was appeased by the pills, and once he felt better, he asked Izuku to lead him back to town. They spent a good hour in the woods, Izuku offering to carry Katsuki and the blond telling him to "politely go fuck himself". By the time they were in town, Katsuki was grateful for Izuku's attire. Izuku had to place a beanie on his head to cover his ears, his tail cleverly hidden in his baggy pants. One thing was explaining a costume during Halloween night, but in broad daylight it would be hard to hide the fact all of Izuku's animal features were real. They were lucky they weren't the only ones heading back home in costumes, no one looked twice at them as they made their way through the streets.
FINALLY they made it to Katsuki's apartment complex, a fairly new, five story building. They went up the flight of stairs until they reached the third floor. Izuku was sniffing around like a madman, Katsuki telling him to tone it down a little lest someone happened about them and thought he was high or drunk. The werewolf nodded, his nose still twitchy. Katsuki's apartment was the second to last door to the stair's left. He fumbled with his keys for a while before someone else opened the door for him.
"Oh dude, thank GOD you're alive. Where have you bee—" Eijirou was standing on the inside of Katsuki's apartment in a plain t-shirt and a pair of jeans. He was also wearing a pair of sunglasses which definitely meant he was as hungover as Katsuki. The man had stopped talking when he noticed Izuku, who'd hidden behind Katsuki like some sort of shy puppy. A snort escaped the blond as he made the comparison in his head, Eijirou giving him an even worse estranged look. "Who is this?"
"He's... uh, my hookup!" Katsuki exclaimed, definitely not sounding the least suspicious. "He and I sneaked out of Shouto's yesterday to mess around at his place."
"And you just... went out with a stranger?" Eijirou raised an eyebrow at Izuku, the werewolf nervously holding unto Katsuki's pants.
"He's cute don't you think?" Katsuki WANTED to sound cocky, but god knew how loud he was screaming internally.
"...yeah..." Eijirou stepped out of the way, Izuku finally deciding it was a good idea to speak up.
"I wanted to make sure he got home safe. He has a pretty bad hangover." The werewolf offered his hand to the redhead. "I'm Izuku Midoriya, sorry Katsuki couldn't warn you about us leaving."
"We were both pretty hammered and horny." Katsuki added nonchalantly, hoping that would swat Ei's suspicions.
"A pleasure to meet you, Izuku." Eijirou took the werewolf's hand and shook it vigorously. "Eijirou Kirishima."
Izuku gave him a smile, Ei corresponding and getting Katsuki to relax.
"I'll leave you two to it then, we'll see each other tomorrow?"
"For breakfast, yeah. See you, Ei."
The redhead waved goodbye at them, turning around and leaving afterward. Neither of them moved until Ei was out of sight.
"Well, we handled that well enough."
"He has keys to your place?"
"Best friend privileges... you want to come inside?" Katsuki offered, the werewolf shaking his head profusely.
"I've caused you enough trouble as it is. I'll leave you alone..." Izuku bit his lower lip, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Although... I'll stick to your vicinity a little longer, make sure hunters don't come after you."
"Why would they come after me, idiot?" Katsuki leaned on his door frame, staring daggers at the werewolf. Izuku flinched, taking to looking down towards the floor as he drew circles on it with his feet. Huh, last night he seemed a world cockier than he did now. Interesting. "Wolf boy..."
"I may or may have not rubbed myself all over you this morning? It was involuntary, I came in to check on you when I was lucid and not running on moonbeams and you kinda clung to me and you smelled so good all of a sudden even with the alcohol my instincts just kicked in and I scented you before I could stop myself—"
"Jesus fucking H Christ, shut the fuck up." Katsuki glued a hand to the werewolf's mouth, the latter whining into the other's palm. "Short version. Go."
"You smell like wolf and they can track that."
"But they won't track you? The actual wolf?"
"I'm in my hybrid form right now, I can hide my scent like this... but in my full moon form... you'll smell like me for a while. I'll stick around until the scent is gone, that way I make sure they don't hurt you."
"Well, as long as you're conspicuous." The blond rolled his eyes. He was so utterly done with this supernatural bullshit. So. Done. "Take care then."
The werewolf nodded, giving the blond a very adorable fanged smile before leaving his doorway.
"Freaky wolf thing aside, I really wish he'd been my hookup." Katsuki mumbled closing and locking his door.
Chapter 3: Howls and Asking a Werewolf Out
Chapter Text
Seven whole days had passed since the Halloween party. Katsuki would LOVE to say things went back to normal, but they sure as hell did not. The first time he spotted his werewolf kidnapper was the very next day, Katsuki was changing buildings at his college campus when he noticed a familiar blue beanie. Izuku was kind of minding his business, seeming absorbed in his book as he sat on one of the many stone tables available. Katsuki rubbed his eyes wondering if he was seeing things, but no. That definitely was the freckled idiot. He ignored him, knew the other was just dealing with the consequences of his actions anyway.
Eventually it just got downright entertaining. Katsuki dedicated his free time to look for the blue beanie in his vicinity. Sometimes he'd spot him walking amongst the crowds, other times he'd catch him eating a snack or reading books. Katsuki didn't linger on his form for long until day four. Izuku looked... odd... in his beanie and baggy pants. Fuck. No, the word he wanted to use was cute.
Day seven had him fiddling with his fingers, nervous as he thought of an appropriate way to ask the werewolf who had kidnapped him out for a cup of coffee. It was ridiculous to ponder on it as long as he had, but Izuku had told him he was only around to make sure he wasn't being stalked by hunters, or whatever, and not because he was interested in him in some other way. He had to ask him the right way, one that told him he wished to have the werewolf around perhaps for a while longer.
Today of all days though, Izuku wasn't ANYWHERE to be seen. At first, Katsuki thought he'd just missed him during the morning but when midday came he started getting suspicious. The werewolf was good at hiding, but he'd ALWAYS catch a glimpse of him somewhere. Evening came and Katsuki realized that he wouldn't spot Izuku today.
"I must've stopped smelling like wolf..." He mumbled as he made his way back home, shoulders slumped and feeling super grouchy.
He stopped for a minute, an irksome thought worming its way into his thoughts.
What if the hunters got him?
Once he'd gotten home, he paced about for a half-hour scratching at his arms and getting all sorts of angry. If Izuku had left due to his scent wearing off he'd tell him, right? He looked like that sort of polite person to begin with, so he'd definitely tell him.
Only one thing to do then.
Equipped with a flashlight he kept on one of his kitchen's drawers, he walked out of his apartment determined on finding the cabin he'd been in a week ago. Getting to the edge of town where they'd popped out of wasn't an issue. Navigating through the woods trying to remember the path he'd taken back was a whole new world of problems he thought he'd never have in the twenty-first century. Retracing became harder as the skies darkened and as he went deeper into the woods.
Under his first spur of emotions, this seemed like the only rational idea. Now, kind of lost in the dark, he'd fallen into the realization this was a terrible fucking idea. He kept going, praying that he'd either find Deku's cabin or some other sign of civilization. Eventually, he did come across it, but it took him forever to happen about it.
He'd seen a light between the trees, good news. He followed after it, stumbling into the familiar clearing and holding in an excited yelp. The light came from inside the cabin, which brought instant relief to Katsuki. The werewolf hadn't up and vanished or gotten caught by hunters.
He walked up the flight of stairs, wondering on if he should knock or not. Then again, he might not have much choice considering going back now would be extra hard. He let his fist hang over the door as he weighed his options right until the door opened all on its own.
"Hello?" Izuku had poked out, wearing his beanie, a sweater and a pair of sweatpants.
"Hi."
The surprise on Izuku's face made him light up like a starlit sky, a short excited gasp escaping his lips.
"Katsuki!" Izuku exclaimed, seeming excited out of his mind to see him right before he creased his brow. "Katsuki? You... came all this way?"
"You didn't follow me around today. Decided to check up on you... what with all that shit you said about hunters and what not." Sounding nonchalant was a lot easier than looking the part. He looked away embarrassed, reprimanding himself for being concerned over his stupid, lycanthropic kidnapper. What a goddamn idiot he'd been for worrying about this fucking fool.
"That's... thoughtful of you..." Izuku noticed his discomfort, it was obvious anyhow. "It's pretty late. Why don't you come inside? I mean... I can accompany you back if you'd like but I got some food on the stove, so maybe after I've finished cooking?"
"Sure, uh, fuck, yeah?"
The cabin was warm and bathed in orange light, the fireplace turned on and an oil lantern over at the kitchenette. Katsuki took off his jacket and placed it over the couch's arm before he sat on it feeling super uneasy.
"Are you a vegetarian?" Izuku asked from the kitchenette. "I made some rice and I got salad, but my main course is skirt steak."
"I eat meat, did you just say steak?" Izuku chuckled at the surprised tone.
"What term?" There was a giggle at the end there.
"Medium rare."
Now, Izuku didn't have a rice cooker, so he was using a cooking pot to make his rice. That meant there were many scents in the cabin, although nothing like the mouthwatering smell of steak keeping his sight glued to the werewolf as he handled the pan in the kitchen.
"Come! I wasn't planning on having a guest, so I'm sorry for the small portion." Izuku had served the steak and rice on a dish, placing it on his table for two. He also had a salad bowl ready, bringing it to the table as Katsuki sat down wondering what part of the amount of food he'd been served was small.
"Izuku, you can't possibly think this is a small portion." Katsuki wanted to cry, the piece of steak looked absolutely delicious.
"It's not?" Izuku looked legitimately confused as he brought a small cup filled with homemade chimichurri sauce.
"Fuck, Izuku this is a lot. Thank you." Katsuki was struggling with keeping a straight face.
It was too adorable how the other considered the monster-sized piece of meat he'd served Katsuki was a small portion. Kinda made him realize he wasn't ready to see Izuku's dish. The portion he'd been served was small in comparison. The man needed two large dishes for his meat, and he'd just gone and brought the entire pot of rice to accompany it.
"Do you always eat that much?!"
"Isn't this normal hungry...?"
"Apparently for you it is."
One would think Katsuki would be the first to finish, and he was, but not by a large margin. Izuku was a ravenous wolf on the table, even if he used a knife and a fork. By the time Katsuki finished eating, Izuku was finishing up his second plate and picking up the last of the rice in his pot.
"...wow, you really do get super hungry."
"It's not super hungry..." Izuku was still wearing his beanie but the blond could imagine his ears perking up.
"Why don't you take that thing off?" He motioned to his head, and Izuku straightened up in his chair.
"Oh! Right." The fluffy pair of ears bounced up, twitching a little after Izuku released them from his beanie.
"So, do I still smell like dirty dog?"
"Ah, no! You're in the clear!"
"And when were you planning on telling me?"
That was just the start of an awkward conversation. Izuku's wolf ears drooped as he looked up and fiddled with his fork.
"I uh, I didn't think you'd need to know? I mean—"
"Here's some advice, don't go saying there might be people hunting you and then up and disappear. Very fucking impolite."
Katsuki picked up all the dirty dishes and took them to the kitchen, he noticed there was no sink. He had to turn around to look at the wolf confused.
"How...?"
"I'll take care of them later! I go out to the river to clean them since we got no water here."
"But where do you..."
"Also outside."
"...yeah, no. Can't stay here. I need a hot water shower."
He felt bad about not being able to help Izuku with his dishes, but who the hell on this day and age didn't have water on their cabin? Nope, he was a sweaty boy, and he sure as hell wasn't going to stay the night without—
Wait, he was planning on staying over?
"It's alright, I'll take you home." Izuku's ears were still droopy, which pretty much gave indication that Katsuki had either offended him or upset him in some other way. "It's dark, so I can sneakily carry you back!"
"I know it's imposing of me already, but do you mind if we walk back instead of... doing your bunny slash wolf thing?" He'd come here to check on Izuku because he'd been worried. Now that he was here, he remembered he wanted to ask him out. Gathering the bravery to do so normally wouldn't be an issue but again, how the hell did someone ask a werewolf out?
"Sure, I don't mind one bit." Izuku's ears did that thing where they perked up and his tail started wagging like crazy. Guess that was a good sign.
Izuku did leave the dishes soaking in a bucket of water before he placed his beanie back on and tucked his tail. It was already pretty late at night so it wasn't hard for him to convince Katsuki to let him carry him to the edge of the woods. Once there, they continued the way to Katsuki's home on foot. The streets were empty, so it gave Katsuki an additional smidge of actual bravery.
"So, do you move around a lot?"
"Yeah, I gotta. Keeps hunters off my tail. It's my first time in this town! My friend lent me the cabin, but normally I stay in cheap motels." Izuku sounded giddy, his hands stuffed in his pants while Katsuki walked fairly close to his side.
"So, you've been to a lot of places? Even out of the country?"
"Mhmm, I've run through many lands under the full moon."
"You wouldn't... stay here long?"
"Not without a reason, I tend to stay for three moons at most."
"What if I wanted to ask you out for coffee?" There he said it. Holy shit, that had been hard.
"Oh!" Katsuki turned, trying to look cool in the process, to see Izuku sporting flushed cheeks. Oh fuck. He was so damn fucking adorable. Fuck. "That's a very good reason for me to stay! I would love to go out with you."
Maybe he wasn't expecting such a "for sure" answer. Hell, he didn't even think he'd get an answer. But hearing the freckled wolf boy voice out his reply sounding so merry was enough to get his heart to skip a beat. All in all, his crazy idea to go out to the woods to search for Izuku had paid off.
Chapter 4: Howls and Trouble
Chapter Text
And so, they started going out on dates. They weren't spaced out either, every afternoon they'd go out for coffee and sometimes Katsuki was brave enough to actually invite Izuku out to dinner. The first time, the werewolf had talked him out of paying the bill. By their second time, Katsuki told him to "sit the fuck down and let him pay the shitty bill". Given, he wouldn't be able to afford lots of dinners with how much the wolf ate so eventually they settled on splitting the bills for when they did.
Eijirou kept telling him how much happier he was now and how he was cursing a lot less. Of course, everyone else teased him about too, asking him to hurry up and let them meet whoever was keeping him docile. He'd immediately start screaming at them to mind their business while Eijirou dropped clues of how Izuku looked like. It was annoying to hang out with them for too long, so he was glad he could use the very object of their bullying to escape them.
Today he and Izuku had decided to take a stroll down the park, sit down on a random bench and have their Starschmucks coffee out in the fresh air. Izuku was always more comfortable outdoors, people made him all sorts of jittery. Katsuki figured the sounds they made might drive him crazy, asked about it and was told that only a little. Yeah, right.
"I got a massive biochem exam next week, so I'm thinking we start meeting at my place." He suggested. "That way you can help me study, my friends are going to be busy studying for their own stuff so..."
"That sounds like fun..." Izuku gave him a shy smile as he took a sip from his cup of coffee. By now, the blond could tell something was wrong with the werewolf. Him looking fidgety while avoiding eye contact? Yeah, this dork was holding out on something.
"What's up? Too soon to ask you to my place?"
"Uh, no, no! It's umm... the full moon's around the corner."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah... I can hang out with you for a couple more days but I get... you know... wolfier the closer we get to it." Izuku placed his coffee cup on top of his legs, looking down at it seeming very nervous. "I mean, I get jumpy and I've been told I growl a lot. I don't exactly pop the claws and the eyes until the day of the full moon itself but..."
"Right, staying in town might catch a hunter's eyes." Katsuki reasoned, clicking his tongue. Of course, having a werewolf friend would have this sort of complication.
"I'll still help you study while it's not so bad!" Izuku quickly added, scooting closer to Katsuki. He looked at him with huge doe eyes, his freckled flushed cheeks and his cute pout making the blond internally scream.
"Is it too risky to ask to see you before the full moon though?"
"I can meet you for a couple minutes." Izuku's beanie moved a little, Katsuki KNEW his ears were all twitchy.
"My place then, that way it'll just be us." Katsuki took his hand to the back of Izuku's head, sneaking his hand under the beanie and scratching. Was he allowed to do that?
Izuku shut his eyes and actually made a short small rumble sound.
Fucking shit what the fuck! Izuku was, for all intents and purposes, a huge puppy.
"I uh," Katsuki retracted his hand, Izuku whining miserably before he straightened up embarrassed. "Sooooooo yeah! My place, tomorrow. Hopefully, biochem won't give you headaches."
"Y-You would be surprised! I went to college myself! You're looking at a Chem major Suma Cum Laude right here." Izuku looked super proud of himself.
"So, you really are a nerd?"
"Eh?"
"You're a nerd, that's cute."
Smarts and brawn, Izuku had them both. The blond should have been less surprised about Izuku being so good at biochem. It was a complicated subject, so at first Izuku had to get a refresh. Once he got the ball rolling, he was rolling. He'd made little notes on Katsuki's notebooks as he helped him review, taught him ways to memorize things easier. Not that Katsuki would have trouble doing that considering it was hard to get the nerd's excited face and voice out of his head.
As he promised, the werewolf had made himself scarce for the last three days. Katsuki had heard him growling during their last study session. With the exam being the next day, the blond asked him to head back home, keep his head low.
"If it's too hard to come by, don't. Just make sure to come the following day, just so I know your furry ass didn't get caught or anything."
"I promise to come by first thing in the morning either way!"
Without his werewolf to keep him company, he'd resorted to hanging out at Ei's and Mina's for the downtime after his exam. They were still studying, but they offered him beers and let him chill in the living room.
Today, he'd had to stay some extra hours in college, dealing with some group project nonsense. He was concerned he might be a little late to meet Izuku at the accorded time. The last time he'd run home, he was a kid afraid of getting an ass whooping for being out smoking weed and drinking alcohol in a random parking lot with Ei and the rest of the idiot squad. It was refreshing having something positive to run to... even when in the end it didn't result so.
"You're in my goddamn way, rude assholes." He grumbled thinking of taking to the street.
"Well it's on purpose!" One of the two was a short woman with blond hair tied into two buns and huge yellow eyes. Creepy as fuck. Her schoolgirl attire didn't help. "We wanted to have a little talk with you!"
"Well I don't know you, so screw you and fuck off." Katsuki tried to go past them but the man, someone taller than him and with black hair and piercing blue eyes that very much reminded him of half n' half's gripped his wrist and held him in place. This guy was dressed in all black, his leather jacket zipped up and his pants way too tight.
"We're not asking. You're coming with us."
"Hey, hands off!" Katsuki growled, snapping his hand off the other man's grip. The girl came up behind him and pinched him with something.
"What in the fuck?!" His vision got hazy and his body started feeling heavier by the second. The blue-eyed man caught him as he slumped forwards, a car pulling up on their spot.
"Get him in before someone notices." The driver opened the passenger seat's door, speaking in a hushed tone. Katsuki was furious but his body wasn't responding.
"He doesn't have wolf's scent on him, do you really think he knows something about our wolf?" The woman tucked him the back seat of the car, sitting beside him as the black-haired man got on the front seat.
"I saw him with a strange guy at the park the other day. We lose nothing by asking him."
"I can smell it on him, this one knows a wolf alright."
"WOW! Shigaraki is so amazing!"
Oh no. They're hunters. Katsuki realized, managing to move his hands, he was trying to fight the drowsiness and the heavy fog over his eyes.
"Oh! He's fighting! Should I dose him again?"
"Do it, if he's so tough, he won't mind." That was the driver.
"Half the dose, Toga. We don't want him to OD."
"Gotcha!"
Katsuki managed to wriggle on the seat, but that wasn't much of an impediment for the blonde girl. She pinched him again, this time Katsuki instantly went out like a light.
Izuku was happy to have gotten a friend. Sure, circumstances for how he'd made that friend weren't exactly... conventional, but he was still happy.
He kinda liked liked Katsuki too. Sure, the blond was kinda angry looking all the time, but he'd softened up over the weeks they'd been together. He'd caught glimpses of him hanging out with his friends, and he had seen how grouchy and loud he could be when he was annoyed. It was kind of endearing he didn't get yelled at as much as his friends did. Plus! Katsuki was smart and understanding to a capacity the werewolf never imagined a human could be, at least not one that had just found out werewolves were real. Katsuki was a total cherry bomb, with his lovely, spiky blond hair, shimmering blood-red eyes and absolutely entrancing scent... It seemed crazy to NOT be attracted to him.
Izuku had settled on leaving the man alone after his smell had rubbed off, but then he came out looking for him even asked him out on a date and it became too late. The werewolf had pretty much developed an immense crush on the other, even though it was obvious the target of his affection wasn't aware of it nor did he seem to show further interest other than having a close friend with hairy ears and a tail.
The approach of the full moon made his wolf instincts act up. All of them. The gods knew he had to control so many impulses when he was at the blond's apartment, it got harder the closer they drew to the night itself. He'd taken a break from their now daily meetups, storing all of his self-control for their short date today at his place.
I'm gonna have to prepare to jump out the window if it gets too hard... plus an explanation for him. I am not looking forwards to that.
He was coming up on Katsuki's apartment complex, clawed hands hidden in his pockets. His fangs had popped out too, which is why he'd resorted to wearing a mask. Being so close to his house made him remember he was nervous about seeing him like this. Last time, he'd been rescuing a fellow werewolf, one that had been stupid enough to get drunk on a human's turf AND smelled repulsively of alcohol. This time he was meeting his crush, whom he had the hots for and whom he was very much afraid of hurting.
He wasn't even supposed to stick close to humans for too long! What the heck was he even think—
His thoughts came to a halt when he caught Katsuki's scent. He sniffed the air excitedly, running towards the source while forgetting his issues. He rounded up the corner and stopped dead on his tracks. There were strange scents here. Strange as in, they appeared to be stifled, bare traces he normally wouldn't be able to catch. Katsuki's scent stopped with them, abruptly and out of nowhere. The werewolf had to bite back a growl itching to come out as he thought the worst.
Hunters.
An angry storm exploded in his chest, liquid fire running in his veins as all he wanted to do was get his Katsuki back safe and sound.
Chapter 5: Howls and Blood
Chapter Text
Katsuki awoke in a haze. His thoughts jumbled, his sight blurry and his head heavy. He thought he was going crazy, his limbs strung up and making his nausea worse by keeping him in midair.
"He awakens! Right on time!" The annoying girl's voice made him cringe, the sound too sharp on his ears. "Seems like the drugs are giving him a hard time! It's okay, big boy! I got you!"
A sharp pain to his neck later he found his haze slowly depart him, his surroundings becoming clearer. He was in a sort of abandoned warehouse, the roof gone at places, the floor littered with trash and metal pipes, the walls riddled in graffiti.
"What the actual FUCK?!" He growled the second he got his voice to work properly. "Let me go, you dumbass, shit for brains!"
"Oof. This one's a whole piece of work." The man who had caught him was the one to speak, his laid-back demeanor only irking him more.
"I will absolutely MURDER ALL YOU FUCKERS!" He struggled, the chains keeping him suspended jingling angrily. "LET ME GO!"
"And we will, as soon as you tell us what we need to know." A third man, whose voice he'd assigned to the driver on the car, stepped closer to him. If the other two were creepy, this one was downright terrifying. Dull red eyes stared into his, dark circles underneath them, the man's face riddled with scars, chapped lips upturned into a crooked smile. His messy white hair didn't help his image. Izuku looked more human than this guy.
"Jack off, asshole." Katsuki growled defiantly. No spooky ass gang of hunters was going to fuck him up. "Suck my dick."
"While I AM highly inclined to do that—"
"Dabi, Oh my GOD."
"Tell us, blondie, where is your wolf friend?" The guy with white hair spoke up. Katsuki snickered.
"What wolf? There's no wolves in these areas." He wanted to spit at him, but he had to play it cool. "Ya'll must be fucking high off your brains. Kidnapping someone to ask them about wolves? What a bunch of fucking freaks."
"Oh, we're the freaks?" The man pulled out a knife, raising it up high as he gave Katsuki his back. "Toga?"
The girl walked up to Katsuki, taking the blade being offered to her in the process. She gave him a disturbing smile, like she was excited out of her mind, her blushed cheeks and giggles giving him the awful impression she might just have a fucked-up crush on him.
"I'll ask you one more time, blondie. Where is the wolf?"
After hours of torture, they'd finally gotten him to scream using a branding rod. It took them a whole lot of slicing and three presses of the hot iron, but Katsuki squealed. They'd left him to think, barely hanging unto consciousness as he bled from his multiple wounds.
"You ready to talk, blondie?" Shigaraki, the leader of the three, came up to him, the other two trailing behind him. Dabi held the branding rod, a blue fire covered hand over it.
"I'd die before giving you what you want."
"Humans have breaking points, you'll talk. Dabi—"
The sound of doors yielding and crashing against the floor stirred Katsuki's consciousness. The blond rose his head, his vision faded at the edges but sharp enough for him to recognize Izuku's wolf form.
"Ah, seems like our wolf came to us." Shigaraki spoke up, Toga giggling while Dabi huffed. "That makes this a lot easier."
Izuku was snarling, his hackles stood on edge as he glared at the hunters. Katsuki's heart wanted to leap out of his chest. He wanted to be relieved, wished that he could feel better about being rescued, but he couldn't. Worry throbbed in his chest.
Three against one. Izuku was at a clear disadvantage.
"Izuku... run..." He managed, coughing and wincing in pain afterward.
The wolf growled louder, Katsuki's answer apparently riling him up even more. Two seconds later, Izuku charged at Shigaraki, the white-haired man pulling out a Glock from his holster. Two shots echoed in the warehouse, Izuku having avoided the bullets as Toga dabbed at him equipped with daggers on both her hands. The wolf didn't have an issue avoiding those either, pushing the petite woman away and making her fall on her ass. Dabi, wasn't much of an issue either. His choice of weapon consisted of special gloves that made his fists into actual blue-fire balls. The perk didn't really provide an upper hand, as Dabi himself was very slow compared to Izuku. He'd missed landing his punch, the wolf clenching his jaw around the other's foot and dragging him across the floor. He did let him go when Shigaraki took aim at him again.
Izuku was toying with them, avoiding bullets and dancing his way out of the path of every and any of their attacks. Even when the three of them were engaging him in perfect synchronization, Izuku offered no windows. The furious wolf was the one to take first blood, sinking his fangs on Dabi's side and throwing him off against one of the warehouse's walls.
"Dumbass!" Toga darted to check on him while their leader remained locked in battle.
Shigaraki shot at the wolf. The white-haired man hadn't missed a beat, not even when his partner had been mauled and thrown aside. Shigaraki was fast, but hell, Izuku was faster and he jumped around everywhere.
It was a matter of time before the hunter slipped up, to Katsuki's relief. Izuku closed his maw on Shigaraki's hand, tearing it and flinging him off like a rag doll. With a bloodied snout, he neared a twitching Shigaraki, the white-haired man glaring at him before Toga called everyone's attention. She'd pressed the edge of a blade against Katsuki's neck.
"Here's what'll happen, cutie. You'll bare your neck and we'll let him live." Toga sounded angry, a complete one-eighty from her previous behavior. "Don't test me. We die, he dies too."
"Izuku, don't you dare consider it...."
"Shut up, pretty boy."
The growls got lower, the wolf glaring daggers at Toga. The blade on his neck hurt, he felt it sink just a little deeper, Izuku's bark making the pressure go away. Katsuki saw him considering Toga's deal, it was obvious in his glowing green eyes.
"I can handle myself, don't fucking dare bare your neck."
The wolf whimpered, Toga giggling as she took that as the dire wolf's reply. Izuku lowered his head, baring his nape to the blond woman. Taking advantage of the moment he let down his guard, Shigaraki used his working arm to stab his side with a silver blade, Izuku whining loudly and stumbling on his paws.
"NO! GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Katsuki's pain vanished, his words tainted with both anger and despair. He struggled against his chains, hurting himself in the process. He didn't care, Izuku was going to get killed because of him. He had to DO something, anything! "Izuku FOR FUCK'S SAKE."
Toga walked over to the bleeding, shivering wolf, blade in hand.
"COME BACK HERE, YOU BITCH!"
"Oh, shut it, blondie. Your wolf friend is trying to save you, and this is how you repay him?" She giggled, her voice pleased.
"GET BACK HERE! FUCKING DAMMIT—" Katsuki was about to dislocate his shoulders when out of nowhere, Izuku jumped Toga. She wasn't ready, the heavy wolf tackling her down and sinking his fangs on her shoulder. The girl screamed bloody murder, stabbing Izuku a couple more times before she stopped fighting, her hands falling limp to her sides.
"You...!" Izuku looked back at Shigaraki and growled angrily, slowly making his way to the hunter. "Do it, kill me. Show him what sort of monster he's been protecting!"
"Holy shit."
Katsuki looked at the warehouse's entrance, Ochako standing by the entrance staring at the scene before her with a horrified expression. She looked badass in a biker jacket, shiny black pants and knee-high combat boots, her belt equipped with lots of glowing flasks. What the hell was she doing here dressed like that?!
"Are they here—?" Todoroki rushed to her side, doing a double-take at the scene. Ha was wearing the male version of Ochako's getup, except instead of having a belt full of glow sticks, he had an actual charged crossbow in hand and a quiver on his back. "Fuck."
Izuku's attention had been caught by Katsuki's friends, the wolf snarling and dripping drool and blood from his snout as he stepped towards the duo.
"Frenzied?"
"Yeup."
Ochako's hands glowed purple as she took an offensive stand, Todoroki aiming his crossbow at Izuku. If he'd said he didn't want to vomit at the thought of seeing Ochako and Todoroki kill off an already badly wounded Izuku, he'd be lying. His energy had to go to something else though. The chains had done some damage on his skin from his earlier struggles, so it definitely hurt extra worse when he forced himself to move.
"Wait—" He choked out, no one paying attention to him.
Okay, louder.
"FUCKING SHIT, Izuku!" He screamed, his throat burning and his chest hurting while all his limbs shook from the exertion. That had gotten something done.
Izuku's ears had twitched, the wolf turning around with his bloodied maw still open.
"That's right, nerd. I'm okay, they're my friends... we're okay." He spoke as calmly as he could manage. "Come here, c'mon."
The wolf whimpered, slowly prodding towards Katsuki. He was calm now; his hairs having gone down and his eyes showing concern rather than rage.
"Good boy." Katsuki gave him a strained smile receiving a whimper as a reply. The wolf let out another whine, nuzzling the blond's chained feet before he looked up at Katsuki with glimmering eyes. Puddles were forming by the wolf's feet, his fur slick with blood. "Fuck, Izuku..."
"Katsuki!" That was Ochako's voice, she seemed to be running towards him judging by the sound of footsteps. The blond rose his head to make sure she didn't have hostile intentions. Thankfully, her hands had stopped glowing.
"Well this is a mess..." Todoroki stood over Shigaraki staring at his mangled arm. "You guys deserve this for hunting in a safe haven."
"Ah, Shouto... so nice to see you..." Dabi had gotten up, his clothes in tatters but not showing any sign of bleeding or of being hurt.
"You were smart enough to wear a guard under your clothes?"
"If it wasn't him, it might've been you who beat me up."
Ochako got busy trying to figure out how to undo the chains. Once she'd figured it out, she set out to undo them starting by the ones tying his legs and then the ones tying his arms. Izuku lay him on his legs underneath Katsuki and dampened the blond's fall once the woman got rid of the last set of chains. Izuku whined pained when Katsuki plopped onto him, but after that he was making a soft, rumbling sound. The scent of forest, blood and mint filled Katsuki's nose, and even if his body ached like hell, he'd relaxed. He took a long sniff, rubbing his cheek against Izuku's soft fur.
I'm sorry...
"How are the trespassers?" Ochako asked as she crouched down to check up on Katsuki first. She'd placed a hand on his back and shook him a little.
"Just mauled, take care of Katsuki and his friend first. Their mage can do first aid while he waits."
"We're clearly in a worse condition than the others." Dabi protested.
"Take your time, Ochako."
"Dick move, little Todoroki."
"The others aren't violating any peace treaties. So yeah, dick life, Dabi."
"You hurting too much, Katsuki?" Ochako asked, the blond shook his head slightly as he ran a hand across Izuku's bloodied fur. "Okay, him first."
Ochako helped him get off Izuku and told him to lay down. Katsuki refused, remaining on his knees with Toga's dagger still sticking out of his thigh.
Magic was real, which wasn't surprising at all considering he had a friend werewolf. What had shocked him out of his socks was the fact his close friend Ochako was capable of using it herself.
She'd taken out one of her glowing vials, one that glowed cyan, and poured the contents over Izuku's gaping wounds. She then started saying words in Latin, moving her hands over Izuku's fur. She pulled out the blade Shigaraki had stuck on Izuku at first, Izuku whining miserably, his paws twitching as Ochako asked Katsuki to hold him as she finished soaking the wound with the glowing stuff. Izuku wouldn't stop whining, although his squeals were low and held back. Katsuki ran his hand caringly over his fur, trying to soothe him as Ochako worked her magic.
"That will keep him breathing. He was poisoned with silver, so he'll need lots of rest..." She turned to the blond, who was not bothered by the cold at all even though he was bleeding from everywhere and his side might as well have fallen off. "Now you'll let me take a look at you, stubborn idiot?"
With Izuku taken care of and seemingly unconscious, the blond decided he could lay back and let Ochako see him. Like with Izuku, she took out a vial of glowing substance, amber in his case, and started pouring it over the wounds as she chanted in Latin. It didn't hurt, at the worst he felt an annoying tingle, like an itch. Removing the blade on his thigh hurt more than what it took to close up the wound itself.
"I'll have to bandage your chest... SOMEONE used cursed steel to brand you and white magic doesn't work well on those." She sounded sorry and angry as she sat him up to bandage him. "How did you get involved with a werewolf?"
"It's a long... convoluted story."
"Is he the boy who's had you in such a good mood the past month?" She was taking her time with the bandages, her tone giddy and bubbly despite the circumstances.
"Maybe."
"Awww..."
"How did you find us?"
"We were looking for Tomura Shigaraki and his merry band of assholes on their babysitter's behest. You're lucky we caught their trail when we did." Ochako finished up bandaging him, giving them a final check before nodding, satisfied with her work. "Well, you're good to go. You're going to need to take things easy for a while, you've lost a lot of blood."
"But not enough." Todoroki had walked up to them, crossbow on his back now that there was no threat. "Can you give our problems a quick fix while their babysitter gets here?"
"Sure." The brunette got on his feet, saying some stuff in Latin that felt pretty much like insults directed at the hunter trio. Dabi answered in kind, Katsuki seeing him moving his hands and flicking his wrists over Toga.
"We'll escort you both to your homes, I also promise an explanation." Todoroki helped him up, Katsuki's gaze stuck on his furry crush.
"...I want to stay with him, this is all my fucking fault... I don't want him to be alone."
Todoroki didn't seem to question that, on the contrary, he looked like he understood him very well.
"Alright, where to then?"
Chapter 6: Howls and Kisses
Chapter Text
Todoroki had told Dabi to wait for someone by the name of Kurogiri, and that if he didn't see them back at headquarters, he'd put out a bounty on their heads. The hunters taken care of, the four of them left the warehouse. Thanks to Ochako's magic, they'd managed to take a certain sleeping, huge wolf back to his home. She'd hovered him through the forest, all the while using a sort of magical compass to find the hidden cabin.
"Wow, this place has some good magic protecting it against ill intentions!" Ochako was surprised as they walked into the clearing, she seemed super excited too. "I really have to ask your friend about it, wow!"
Once inside, Katsuki set a bunch of blankets on the floor besides the couch along with some pillows. Ochako lay Izuku on them, the wolf immediately curling up on the warm make-shift bed. Katsuki laid down on the couch and placed a hand over the wolf's head.
"We'll come by tomorrow to check on you." Todoroki spoke up, Ochako giving the blond two thumbs up.
"...Ochako's a witch... and you are?" Katsuki asked lazily, his wolf friend making grumbling sounds as he scratched the back of his ears.
"She's actually a mage, and I'm human, we're both Guardians. We're also hunters, but unlike the assholes that captured you, we do so to protect humans and supernaturals alike."
"Sorry we didn't, you know... tell you. The supernatural world is meant to stay hidden from humans since ya'll tend to overreact." Ochako stopped for a second to stare at Izuku with a small smile on her face. "Although... you decided to... date... the supernatural instead of freaking out about it?"
"Yeah well, when you're kidnapped by a godsent hot piece of ass, you don't question the fucking universe, round cheeks—"
"Did you just say kidnapped?"
"—you date your werewolf kidnapper, especially since he's such a fucking cute dork." Izuku was asleep, so he could afford saying this stuff out loud.
"I'm definitely not inquiring about that further, not until you introduce him to us formally." The brunette chuckled, Todoroki staring blankly at them.
"Aside from the wards on this place, I can guarantee you'll both be safe here, it falls under our turf. There's a shitload of politics you're gonna have to catch up with if you're planning on dating a werewolf, but that can all wait." The heterochromatic eyed man turned towards the door, Ochako following. "Rest up and be thankful this all happened during a full moon. Had he gotten stabbed that many times some other night he wouldn't have walked out of that warehouse at all."
The duo left the cabin, leaving Katsuki alone with a seemingly dead asleep wolf. Izuku was riddled with scars now, the thick lines pink colored with a silvery center.
"Hey, you'll be okay, right?" Katsuki mumbled, getting no response from Izuku other than a sleepy, half pained whine. "...I shouldn't have let them take me..."
The blond didn't sleep well that night. He didn't want to sleep at all to begin with, so he only dozed off whenever he lowered his guard. Izuku would whimper and he'd be up, taking to stroking Izuku's fur whenever he looked too uncomfortable.
The night of the full moon ended, and with dawn, Izuku's body started to change. His fur fell off, his bones clicking and warping his figure until the green-haired remained naked on the sheets on his human-ish form. The scar from the wound Shigaraki had inflicted, the worst of them all, was placed on the man's side, right above the spot Katsuki had gotten branded on. A chuckled escaped him, the thought of them having matching scars seeming too stupid cheesy.
Izuku had effectively messed up his own make-shift bed with the shedding he'd done. Katsuki thought of taking him to his bed, all dirty as he was. Thankfully, there was a bucket of clean water at the kitchen he could use to wipe him down. Thank you, past Izuku.
Once he'd managed to clean up Izuku, his face hot and red as he did his best to clean out the other's lower half without peeking too much, he took the other man to his bed. He was heavy, but Katsuki could handle him, all for the sake of getting him somewhere comfortable. The blond tucked him in before he went on to take off his dirtied clothes. He cleaned out the dirt on his skin as best as he could and lay by Izuku's side.
That's pretty much how he spent the rest of his day too. Todoroki had come by that morning to see how they were doing and bring them breakfast, but the werewolf had yet to stir awake.
"He's hibernating. That's how they heal up. He'll wake up eventually." Half n' half explained, Katsuki too tired to even question further.
He ate his breakfast, said goodbye to Todoroki who mentioned he'd text him for an update later before he once more left him alone. Katsuki sat on bed, going through his texts and emails for a small while. Nothing urgent to take care of, which meant he could go back to watching over the freckled man. His breathing had normalized by dusk, right on time for Ochako to bring him some dinner too. He ate, talked with her for a small while about school and the idiot gang, and after she'd gone, headed back to bed. Seeing how peaceful Izuku slept now made him feel relieved, and so he was finally able to fall asleep.
The scent of bacon hit his nose and stirred him awake. His body was still sore, so he grumbled in pain as he sat up on bed. He'd been tucked in, and upon removing the sheets over him, discovered his bandages had been changed too. Izuku was no longer in bed with him. Instead, the werewolf stood by the door with his stupid cute ears perked up in surprise.
"Katsuki..." He whispered, his ears twitching as the blond's eyes fell on the tray of food he was holding. "Good morning?"
"...Morning to you too, dork." The warmth in his chest spread all over his body, specifically his goddamn cheeks. If he was blushing right now, he would punch himself in the face.
Izuku was wearing his baggy pants, although he'd elected not to wear a shirt. The new scars on his chest only made him thrice as hot in Katsuki's eyes, the blond's brain short-circuiting as he thought of how much he'd LOVE to kiss the crap out of those delicious abs.
"I kinda had a feeling you didn't leave my side until I woke up... so..." Izuku brought the tray over, placing it down over the bed and offering it to Katsuki. The golden, scrambled eggs looked absolutely mouthwatering, the absurd amount of bacon on the side also making him tear up.
"What makes you think I stayed at your side all along?" Katsuki teased, Izuku sitting close to him and invading his personal space by pressing the side of face to his neck. "Uh... what the fuck?"
"You smell," Izuku chuckled, rubbing his face all over Katsuki's chest.
"...wait, what are you doing—" Katsuki was in trouble. Izuku had pushed him down on the bed and was rubbing himself all over the blond. For a second, Katsuki thought he was going to die when the other's thigh pressed itself against his crotch.
Oh my god, don't pop a boner. Too early in the morning to be dealing with this shit, PLEASE don't pop a boner, don't—
"There, now you don't smell too bad."
"Yeah... now I just smell like mangy mutt." Katsuki deadpanned, Izuku's ears drooping as he pouted looking quite miserable. He reached towards the back of the werewolf's ears, scratching there and getting the other to wag his tail happily as he leaned into the other's touch. "You really are an enormous fucking puppy."
"I'M NOT A PUPPY!" Izuku whined, not looking one bit convincing in Katsuki's eyes. The blond would never let that one go, Izuku was his goddamn adorable, sometimes 200-pound puppy and no one could tell him otherwise.
Izuku got off him and sat on bed wearing a pout, watching over Katsuki as the latter ate breakfast. Only when he'd finished up his eggs and found himself munching on the remaining crispiest, toastiest pieces of bacon he'd ever had, did he decide to strike up a proper conversation.
"How did you know I was with them?" Perked ears and large curious, green eyes settled on him.
"Your scent abruptly vanished in a spot by your apartment, huge red flag. I knew it had to be hunters so I lost myself for a couple hours trying to find you." Izuku lowered his gaze, fiddling with his fingers while his ears remained perked up on his head. "I caught your blood's scent... and I heard you scream and I just... I found you."
"Guess it's great to have a friend who can literally smell when you're in trouble." Katsuki rolled his eyes pulling Izuku onto bed and pressing him against his chest in a tight hug.
It felt great having the werewolf give in to the hug and even take advantage of their proximity. He'd taken to stroking Izuku's soft curls as the latter rubbed himself on him, flushed cheeks and wagging his tail.
"I was so worried when they took you," He was making that rumbling sound whenever he wasn't talking. It was unbearably adorable. All he had to do was stick out his tongue and that was it. The softest puppy. "I was furious to begin with. When I saw you strung up back there, I saw red. All I wanted was to end them for hurting you. You didn't owe me anything, you could have told them about me to make them go away."
"You'd have me break my promise and help them hurt you? Not ever, moron." Katsuki couldn't rumble like Izuku, so instead, he resorted to nosing his locks, which interestingly enough smelt of mint. Someone had taken a good bath, huh.
"Katsuki, I was willing to lay my life down if it meant you'd be safe."
"Don't you EVER dare do something that stupid! I won't forgive you."
"But—"
"This wasn't your fault." Katsuki cupped Izuku's cheeks, squeezing them as the other looked up at him with sparkly green eyes and plump, pouty lips.
How is he even ALLOWED to be this fucking cute. Fucking shit, what in the fuck.
"If anything, it was mine for not being more aware."
"NO! If I hadn't kidnapped you—"
"Nope, not your fault. Stop. Shut up." He squeezed his cheeks harder, small whines leaving the werewolf while his tail wagged like crazy. "...are you seriously rubbing yourself on me after getting cleaned up? Your hair smells nice."
"You smell so bad, Katsuki! Sacrifices must be made!" Izuku laughed.
The embarrassment the blond felt was surreal. He ended up trying to push Izuku off while the other clung to him, like they were children. They got rowdy, pushing at each other until the sound of a clattering dish interrupted them.
"FUCK, THE BACON!"
With breakfast out of the way, the two of them got on their way back to town. Izuku lent him a huge sweater, which Katsuki had unilaterally decided to keep, since his had been turned to shit. Even with the new shirt, Katsuki looked, and mainly smelled, dreadful, so they had to sneak around and make sure no one that knew him would spot him. He definitely didn't want to explain why he looked like he'd been to war. Izuku was more than merry to climb up alley walls with him on his back just to avoid the routes his friends normally took. It was a fun trip, even with all the sneaking and the tension of getting caught.
Now that he was standing by his apartment's wide-open door, staring up at his mint smelling werewolf felt a lot more awkward than he thought it should. Would it be weird if he asked him inside now?
"You smell distressed, everything okay?" Izuku asked worried, his ears twitching in his beanie.
"Calm down, puppy." Katsuki pressed a hand over the other's face, trying to sort out what he'd end up doing. They stayed still for a while, the sudden awkwardness in the atmosphere making them both uneasy.
"...you... like me, right?" Katsuki started, lowering his hand and staring at him straight in the eyes. They'd almost died, might as well come out and say these things straight. "Because I like like you, wolf and all."
"I..." Ah, there it was. A scarlet blush that covered all of his dumb, freckled face. If he said he didn't like him back, Katsuki would implode. "I do like you..."
"Cool," Katsuki dropped his seductive smile, a trademark shit eating grin with droopy eyes that Ei and Mina had confirmed could make anyone magically lose their undergarments in a heartbeat. "Then we can say we're...more than friends?"
Braindead. That's how the blond had left Izuku.
"I uh, we... what..."
Katsuki rolled his eyes, a chuckle escaping him before he pulled down on the other's shirt. Warmth spread all over his face as he pressed a soft kiss on the commissure of Izuku's lips. It felt right, being this close to him and being so awfully and helplessly head over heels.
"Do you wanna be my boyfriend?" Katsuki asked, eyes lidded and his voice a mere whisper.
"Y-Yeah."
That did it.
The blossoming warmth in his chest turned into an intense heat as he pressed their lips together. He closed his eyes as Izuku took the initiative, licked his lips asking for permission to part them. The rush he felt when the werewolf tilted his head and kissed him deeply wasn't like anything he'd felt. Even with his eyes closed he was seeing fireworks, his arms wrapping around the other's neck just to feel him closer.
"You smell funny..." Izuku stopped kissing him, both of them heaving for air.
"I think you know why." Their noses brushed together, a smile creeping on both their faces, their half-lidded eyes twinkling with excitement and desire. Katsuki pecked him again, this time using that to slip his tongue into the other's mouth. One deep breath later, they were kissing each other slowly, tenderly. Katsuki's fingers laced themselves into the green curls underneath the other's blue beanie, Izuku's hands reaching down to the other's ass.
"Woah! Down, boy!" Katsuki chuckled when he felt the firm grasp on his butt cheeks. The werewolf in question had let out a whine, pressing his forehead against Katsuki's. Scratching the back of his boyfriend's neck seemed like a good idea right now, so he did. "Come inside, I'll shower and then we can talk about letting you grab more of my ass, okay?"
The atmosphere was disrupted by a thumping sound, Katsuki looking down and noticing Izuku WAS thumping his leg, his tail had even popped out of his pants.
"Holy shit."
"I'm happy! I can't help some things!"
"For fuck's sake, c'mon, puppy." Katsuki pulled him inside and closed the door shut.
Both their lives had given a rather unexpected twist out of a completely unexpected encounter. It was crazy, sure, but finally feeling wanted was quite the intoxicating emotion, especially when he had the object of his affection longingly kissing him breathless against his apartment's door.
"You know what? Fuck it, my shower's big enough for two if you want to join me." The sound of thumping nearly killed the mood, but it wasn't enough. The high of having his cute werewolf boyfriend unconsciously grinding against him now that they'd taken a chance to breathe made up for it pretty well.
"I'd love that."
