Chapter 1: Prologue

"Mama, where are you talking us?", Mikumo asks. Izu grabs his twins hand, both of them sitting in the back of the car. Inko stops the car in a parking lot and answers: "It's alright, Miku, we are just going to the doctor. Just a little check up for your quirks."
The three leave the car, Izu keeps his hand linked to Miku and rambling how great their quirks could be, possible combinations, mutations. While Izuku mutters and Inko turns deaf on him, Mikumo listens to every word and asks things.
While their shadows look like copies, they don't. Izu is a lot like their mother with his green hair and eyes, Mikumo took a step after their father, black curls and red eyes. But those curls must be a dominant gene, Izuku got hair so curly and fluffy, it defies gravity. And still they are twins and complete each other like yin and yang. And exactly like they are similar opposites there is an egg in each of their brains, single hearts beat simultaneously in the eggs.
At the doctor they have taken x-rays of their feet. "Miss Midoriya, I'm happy to tell you that both of your sons have quirks, thou I don't know why they didn't develop yet. Either they have weak quirks that don't really show or extremely powerful quirks and their bodies still need to adjust to them. May I know the quirks of you and their father?"
At the doctors statement Izuku lets his toy fall to the ground and hugs his twin, muttering "We are going to be heroes!"
Inko uses her quirk to pull the toy to her. "Well, I have got weak telekinesis and their father has… fire breath."
Tsubasa claps in his hands. "Perfect. I am sure your boys will develop their quirks soon and will do magnificent things with them."
At the next day they tell Kacchan, their best friend and the only one brave enough to get near the weird twins. The explosive boy is fuming happy. "Finally! We are going to UA and we will beat All Might's records and be the three top heroes!" Mikumo stands next to them and nods while Izuku cheers.
Over time their roles don't change, Miku is introverted where Izu is extroverted and vice versa. Until they hear the gossip. "Oh, look, there are the quirkless twins!" "Come on, you don't want to get near those useless twins!" "Have you heard it? Those two quirkless losers want to go to UA!"
Katsuki distances himself from the two, calls them mean nicknames. It's lunch break in fourth grade when Kacchan approaches them with some other people, bullies. "Why don't you two just go up and take a swan dive of the roof, huh? Pray to be born with a quirk in your next live!", he sneers and sets of small explosions. Izuku gets those explosions onto his biceps. He cries. And Mikumo loses his chill. The egg inside of him cracks open, showing a black bird.
Suddenly it's about everywhere, cold darkness consumes the classroom he and his brother hid inside. The black fire destroys everything. A little bloodstream leaves his right eye while their bullies try to leave the room. Only Bakugou gets caught in the door frame.
Izuku shivers and lifts his eyes. "Miku, why is it so cold… holy! Miku, look, this is amazing, it must be a quirk!" He rambles on until he sees his twin. "Miku! Your quirk! This is your quirk, it finally developed!" Izuku's egg bursts open too, revealing a white bird.
In his excitement he doesn't notice the white-golden flames bursting from his own body. In a game of light and darkness the room gets restored and both fires dissolve, leaving no sign except for a bit of soot in the shape of a bird at the ceiling.
And Bakugou. His chest is burned. His face unrecognisable, his hair grey. But they recognize the boy who was their friend once. While they sit next to him and Izuku bleeds a little from his eyes too, there are also tears streaming down his face. One tear comes in contact with Kacchan.
A soft glimmer of white heals his wounds and leaves no trace but for a little bright bird tattooed onto the boys spine. Katsuki calfs. "Took you two shits long enough!" Then he gets up and leaves them.
Since that day no person in school is even brave enough to look at them, fearing the fire. In secret they call their quirks Phoenix and Antiphoenix. And they practice. Thank goodness their mother isn't home often and their father left them more than enough money to have a comfortable life near the sea.
So they go to Dagoboa beach and train, Mikumo destroys rubbish with aim and Izuku patches up things they could use. Within half a year the beach is clean and the support industry booms. But the boys don't leave the sandy area. They use it to do physical training too, sparring, running, doing all the stuff harder to do on sand. They know that fitness is the key to get into UA next to a useful quirk.
During a few sparse they meet a boy with lilac hair and indigo eyes. Shinsou Hitoshi. And Toshi is as much of an outsider as they are. Of course they make him part of the group. Another person they invite is Hatsume Mei, a girl with pink hair and pure craziness in her eyes. And like that the group uses the beach as their personal training ground to get into UA.
Maybe one or two of Mei's machines freaked out and forced Izu to get Hitoshi and Mei back to live but that is only a conspiracy why they have the phoenix on their spines too.

The twins wake up simultaneously with aching backs. Well, not only the backs. Everything on their torso hurts like something was burning itself inside their skin. Izuku takes off his shirt and the room is lightened. Because there was something burning itself into their torsos.
A giant bird shapes itself into each body in the color of their fire. While Izuku got details in gold and red Mikumo got them in blue and green. Those birds looked like twins judging by everything else than color. They were like the brothers, similar but opposite.
And while the shapes are burned into their skin both birds are able to move and as suddenly as it came the pain is gone. Mikumo looks at Izuku. The other doesn't even open his mouth but Mikumo hears him mutter. The mutter is inside his brain. Izuku! Mikumo thinks and the green haired looks up. "Miku? What is wrong?"
"Izu… we have telepathy. I didn't open my mouth. And I heard you mutter without opening yours. Our Quirks became stronger!" Mikumo smiles and Izuku grins his sunshine grin.
Suddenly he pales. "Miku, what if we can't only keep our thoughts to ourselves? I like sharing my thoughts with you but with others? I don't want everyone knowing my thoughts."
Mikumo shoots a look at his phone. He grabs the device and crosses the room to get to Izu. "Let's call Mei. She will figure something out."
Izuku tears up. Thank you, Miku. And with that, Mikumo presses the green call button. "Akatani Mikumo, have you looked at a clock?! I was sleeping!", Mei greets them.
The three start giggling. "Mei, we know you only do power naps and those you only do during the day.", Izuku explains. Hearing Mei makes all their worries less.
Miku stops laughing. "Mei, we need your help. Our quirks became stronger and we got these kind of tattoos and telepathy and we don't know if it's only between the two of us or everyone or something!"
The inventor in Mei shows and she starts audibly to tinker. "We are going to meet up after school tomorrow at the beach. You have to tell Toshi.", she says before hanging up.
Izuku takes the job of texting Hitoshi, then they kuddl up in Izuku's bed and quickly fall asleep.
They wake up two hours later to Mikumo's mobile phone. The red eyed boy shuts off the alarm and gets up. He is the first to shower and as soon as his hair is covered in towels he gets back to Izuku's bed.
Izu, your turn! , he wakes his brother mentally. Sleepy and with an adorable bedhead the green haired gets up. That bedhead is the main reason why Miko likes to be the first to shower. The second reason follows three seconds later as he climbs into the warm bed.
Izuku wakes him once more after his shower and they get ready for school. On their walk to middle school they don't talk visibly. They practice their telepathy. They try to communicate with others but that doesn't work.
They sit silently in class, compare answers without others noticing. And then they hear Bakugou. What the fuck… stupid school… i hate everyone here… they don't even have to recognize his voice, the words are sign enough.
Kacchan, can you hear us? , Izuku asks. The blond turns around fuming. "What kind of question is that, Deku?!", he snarls with explosions popping. The twins exchange a look.
An honest question if you were able to hear us in the last lessons. , Miku explains telepathic. Bakugou looks at his mouth and his explosions die.
Telepathy… why do they have telepathy? What is happening? , Katsuki asks himself the rest of the day. And after the first twenty minutes it starts to annoy the boys.
Katsuki, would you mind to shut the fuck up? , Izuku asks him kindly. Mikumo bursts laughing. Kacchan looks at them with wide eyes. The telepathy link to the blond goes silent on both ends.
After school they take the short route behind the school to the beach, they laugh and make impressions of Bakugou and the other idiots in their school. Behind them the sewer opens up and a green slimy thing attacks Mikumo. Run, Izu! Get help! , he screams at his twin but before he is even at the end of the tunnel there is a loud "Smash!" and Mikumo is free.
He calves and calls mentally for Izuku. The boy comes back and cries a tear for him. Mikumo vomits green goo but feels better instantly. "Thank you. I hate infections."
An booming voice surprises them: "Are you alright, my boys?" There is All Might. After finding out about the real heroes meaning underground heroes they value All Might less but still that is All Might, the number one hero.
Izuku faints. Mikumo feels his tattoo shift uncomfortably and rises in front of All Might. Protecting his brother. "I am fine, Sir. Thanks for your concern but with him by my side i don't need to fear anything. Sadly he fainted in shock so it would be nice if you could sign him one of his notebooks, you were his idol as a toddler."
Now All Might is the one surprised. "Sure, my boy. Call an ambulance if he doesn't wake up within the next minute, okay? I'll be getting this villain to the police department!" And with that he somehow collects the villain in two plastic bottles and jumps of.
You can stop playing dead now ., Mikumo jokes and Izuku gets up. "Let's go to Mei and Toshi, they must be waiting here!" They leave and don't notice the two bottles of slime villain that fall of the sky behind them.
Izu? , Hitoshi asks. The boy immediately responds: Huh? His eyes go blank while Mei and Miku try their best not to think into the conversation.
It took them time to make a mental connection between the four of them but they managed and decided to keep that link up all the time. And now they practice Toshi's quirk through the link. They already know that using the link while one person is controlled breaks the effect.
And exactly that wakes Izuku up. HELP! I don't know if this works, but please help me!
"Kacchan!", the twins say simultaneously and run off, their phoenixes shift once more like they want to break out of their flesh and fly. But they help them finding Katsuki, who is suffocating by the slime villain. There is police and Heroes but nobody acts.
Mikumo breaks through the barriers and steps up to the heroes. "I'm sorry, but if you don't want to help this kid, at least allow the two of us to use our quirks. It would be pretty bad if he dies."
The heroes seem shocked and only nod. Mentally Miko tells Izu the plan while going to Bakugou. He raises a hand and a circle of black fire surrounds them, Izuku uses his fire to repair the mall and get the fire caused by the explosion down.
"I don't want to kill you, so let the boy go!", he growls at the slime. The slime laughs while Mikumo tears up. A single tear leaves his eye and that is enough. He lets it drop into the villain. And the villain becomes a puddle. The black fire dies and Miku catches Kacchan.
"Izu! Fast, tears!", he screams and his brother runs to them. Already crying he leans above Katsuki and tears drop on his forehead. The unconscious boy lets his palms pop in small explosions.
"That was fucking reckless, you two. But thanks, i guess. It would have killed me. You saved my life for the second time, Deku. And you, I owe you nothing, Yamikumo.", he snarls while his eyes say otherwise. The twins just hug him.
"Kids! What is that?!", asks a small Mt Lady and points to the backs of both. Izuku turns to her and Mikumo sees what is wrong.
"Izu, i think our birds dislike cloths. Your uniform is burned down to your skin where the phoenix glows. You are literally on fire at the moment.", he laughs.
As he takes of his jacket he can see holes too. Somewhere in his mind there is the chirp of a happy bird gaining strength to fly once more. Carefully he moves his wings while a dark burn on Miku's back does the same.
The black-haired gives his brother a weary look. "Izu, your fire better can repair our uniforms. Mother would be furious like she is every time we need new ones."
Izuku laughs and lights up in a single flame of white. Mikumo steps away from Katsuki and gets swallowed by flames too. When the boys leave the fire they wear perfectly clean and whole uniforms. Vibe Check , they say together and to every marked.
"Vibe Check", Bakugou mutters. And looks at them. "Deku, answer me, god damn it!", he yells suddenly.
Izuku stumbles back. "But… I listened. You said Vibe Check like we did via mental… you didn't hear us say it! The connection is gone, you are unmarked! Show me your spine, I need to know if the bird is still there."
Bakugou shifts his uniform down, showing them the position where the phoenix of Izuku has been visible. The mark is truly gone. A single bloody tear runs down Izuku's cheek.
You won't remark him, Izu. I will. It will only weaken him a little, i know how to control my tears. , Mikumo tells his brother. But we will give him the choice. "Bakugou Katsuki, would you like to be marked again? We know how to keep the link low and only for emergencies like today.", he offers.
Kacchan gives them a weird look. "You offer that shit? Come on, Yami, poison me." The black-haired smiles and a tear leaves his eye. They let it drop onto Katsuki's hand and he pales a pit but stands strong. A black bird forms on his neck.
Welcome back to the marked! , Izuku announces and shoots Bakugou a smile. Miku hits his head softly and hands the bleeding boy a tissue.
"Take care of yourself, i gave you the weakest tear i got and it lowered your health. So stay away from sewers, hospitals and children. Best thing would be to go home and sleep. See ya in school, Kacchan!", Miku tells and leaves with his brother.
After a display of their powers nobody dared to step in their way. Kamui Woods seemed to hide behind Backdraft and none of the heroes dared to look them in the eye. With a precise movement all cameras were swallowed by black flames.
It was about 9 PM when Izuku and Mikumo re enter the apartment once more. Their mother lays in her bed and sleeps but there is some food for the two on the counter. They eat and go to bed fast.
That is their day routine, getting up early, coming home late. Their homework they do with the help of Hatsume and Shinsou. They know better than to go to their mother. Their mother who didn't care for them since their sixth birthday without quirks.

When their alarm goes at six AM this day Mikumo and Izuku are out of bed immediately. It is finally the day of the entrance exam for Heroics. The entrance exam for UA.
It had taken them a lot of time to convince principal Nezu that they had to be in the same testing ground for the practical exam but they managed and already got Mei through the exam for support and she helped the twins and Hitoshi through the exam for General Education.
After their morning routine they meet up with Toshi at the front gate to UA and while chatting they stumble across Bakugou who seems to learn everything once more.
"Kacchan! We thought you were already in the exam room. If you need us, you know how the mark works!", Izuku greets him and Mikumo nods. Hitoshi seems unconvinced but he trusts the small twins.
They split up and go to their respective rooms. And while some would consider their actions cheating it isn't. They are allowed to use quirks during all UA exams. And without it, all five wouldn't have 100%. Yes, they all get full points due to Google.
When Toshi meets the twins in front of the auditorium they cheer. Even without placing in the top 40 at the practical exam they have high chances to get in.
So they take their seats in the auditorium and chatter with Mei, only Izuku really listens to PresentMic and tells the others.
Suddenly a blue haired student gets up to ask a question: "Sir, what about the fourth robot? You showed us three types, the orientation sheet shows four. And you three! You clearly don't pay attention! If you failed the exam at least show enough respect to the others and pay attention!"
Hitoshi growls and Mikumo's fist is covered in black flames. Izuku gets up and shoots them a comforting look.
"I am sorry if we gave you the illusions of not paying attention because we weren't paying attention. Through our mental link we discussed about the secondary point system and why UA never announces it, giving the only chance for people with non combative quirks to transfer in the sports festival while that one is biased too. It is strange for a school with high policies against quirk discrimination to have biased exams, right?", Izuku says loud and calm before taking his seat again and turning back to Mikumo and Hitoshi. The boy with the blue hair looks as surprised as PresentMic does. A white bird chirps proud and flutters a little.
Faster than expected they go to their testing area and thanks to Mei's hacking skills the twins are there together with Toshi. They are the first to run when Mic gives the start signal and they are the first to destroy robots.
In a conversation with Mei they categorized all points possible, first the obvious villain points, second rescue points and third collateral damage points. Izuku was responsible for minimizing collateral damage and worked together with Hitoshi on rescue points while Mikumo protected them and destroyed robots.
Two minutes before the end they hear the zero pointer. And they run towards it. Mikumo destroys the ground under its feet and Izuku repairs it simultaneously. The zero pointer slowly but surely gets trapped in the ground but its arms and weapons are still active. And hell, they are really active.
"Help!", echoes through the three and the robot is forgotten. They rush to a girl trapped under the rubble caused by the zero pointer. It takes Izuku a second to analyse the situation.
"Hitoshi, use your quirk on her, Miku, burn the rubble and make a wall in front of the zero pointer, it works via heat sensors. I will heal her and simulate targets for the robot if needed." The two others follow the order and the student is freed within ten seconds. A tear marks and heals her and a second one removes the mark.
The phoenix twins both cry blood at this point in time but the exam isn't finished yet. "Toshi, get her as far away as possible and stay close to her, I don't want you to be hurt.", Izuku tells. The fires die down and the phoenix brothers step towards the giant robot. It's time to end this villain even if it won't get them points or to have a heroic equivalent: glory.
The area around the two bursts into flames of black and white but this time they don't fight, they harmonize and end the zero pointer. The only thing left is a phoenix burned into the concrete on the floor.
In the heart of the phoenix lay two boys, one of them has black curls that fall in his face while the other got fluffy, dark green curls that defy gravity. The boys have same proportions, same height, same weight. The only thing that changes them too are the birds burned into their skin.
The area is silent, only the end signal and the click of a cane are audible. It takes Hitoshi a moment to gain control over his body once more but before the cane gets close to him and the girl, he rushes forward to his friends.
There is a loud cry of fury as he breaks down next to them. It takes Toshi a moment to identify the voice as his own. "You both are so stupid! How the hell did you think destroying the zero pointer would do any good? You both are so heroic, it seriously hurts.", the lilac boy sobs.
Toshi, we know, you are angry but would you mind to cry silently? My head tries to kill me at the moment and Miku feels the same. , tells Izuku him telepathic. Knowing the consequences of their quirk overuse he ruffles their hair and rips parts off of his jacket to cover their eyes.
The click of the cane comes closer and closer until it reaches Toshi. "Are you alright, young man? What about those two reckless boys?" The teen turns around and looks in the eyes of Recovery Girl.
They take a few steps away from Izu and Miku, Toshi explains towards her that his friends only suffer from quirk overuse, there is nothing to heal. She leaves them some gummies and takes her way to the next area.
This time Hitoshi orders the two around and feeds them with energy gummies. They can't even stop the insomniac from patting them. When the two feel strong enough to walk Toshi has to lead them towards the exit, they don't recognize Uraraka, the girl they rescued from the rubble, asking PresentMic to give the three some of her points. They take the fastest way to Dagobah to meet up with Mei. Toshi texts her to take the kit against migraine with her.
The rest of the day Izuku and Mikumo are in the cool, dark cave on the beach while Toshi and Mei use the daylight to nap in the sun. When the light fades and the sun sets they start tinkering with Mei's inventions, Hitoshi is once more her involuntary testsubjekt. But the time with Mei gave all three great dodging and fighting skills.
In the moonlight Miku and Izu leave the cave, their friends are happy to get them home, while Mei might mutter her anger about time missing to use her babies, but that is probably a coincidence.
When the twins get close to their home they say their goodbyes and get inside fast. No light flashes inside, the house stays dark and Mei goes on with Toshi.
On the next morning there is light in the apartment, light and sound. The sound of hands meeting the faces of children. Inko hits them.
They were too late yesterday. They were at UA yesterday. They are quirkless. Over and over again she tells them. Izuku doesn't cry. He stays strong.
Mikumo does cry. He is furious but he won't use his quirk to harm his mother. Izuku wouldn't want her to die. So Mikumo doesn't let his full power get into the tears. His tears will only harm her a lot at contact, they won't kill.
When Inko faces Mikumo again she smiles. "I think you both understand my point, don't you? So please, Miku, deary, get me a cup of coffee and then you two will go to your room, let me lock the door and you will write a letter to UA and explain them that you two are quirkless no matter what your assignment papers say and that you won't go to UA. Are we clear?"
Her voice is so sugary sweet, it's disgusting. But Mikumo nods and goes to the kitchen to make his mother a coffee. He will not harm their mother. He. Will. Not. Harm. Their. Mother. No.
A silent tear falls into the cup, a second one follows. They are weak, they won't kill. The coffee pours into the cup and some milk and sugar follow. Silently he sets the cup on the coffee table and goes to his room where Izuku waits. They close the door and wait for their mother to lock it.
They wait.
And wait.
They hear their mother in the hallway, her steps are slow and weak. The door to their room opens, their mother seems paler than usual. She takes a sip of coffee and the cup falls out of her hand. It bursts on the ground.
"This is your fault. The lord makes me pay for giving birth to two quirkless, gay bastards.", she tells them and locks the door.
Outside they hear something fall. It must be soft and heavy. Izuku rushes to the door and shakes the handle, his hands covered in flames. Miku takes his phone and calls the police, tells them about being locked in a room and fearing about their mother.
The man on the other side of the line - Tsukauchi Naomasa - tells them to wait, they would tell a hero close by. The twins don't really believe them but agree and wait. In the meantime they talk to Mei and Toshi.
When the phone rings, it's the police. "Kid, sorry, but the only hero close by is Eraserhead. He will be there in a few minutes, do you know, where a spare key to your apartment is?"
Mikumo stays silent for a few seconds but answers: "Well, our spare key is at a friends house, I'll quickly ask the kid, if he can come out and help a man trying to get to us."
The detective agrees and the line is dead again. Katsuki agrees to help immediately. And not because they are friends but because he owes Izuku. Sure…
15 minutes later there is a knock on their door. "This is Eraserhead. You better don't troll.", a dry voice tells them. Izuku tears up in full fanboy mode. After a soft click the door is unlocked and opens.

Red glowing eyes stare at the twins. "So this is a surprise.", a hobo with scarf greets "You are the pyro twins from the UA exam. And Nedzu wants you two problem children in my class."
Katsuki looks like he lost everything he values in this world. "But… Deku… but Deku ain't got a combative quirk! How could he capture villains with healing powers? And the fucker only got six years of training!"
Six years are enough to kick your ass, remember how Izu saved your life twice? , Mikumo asks angry.
"And keep your fucking voice out of my head! I took this stupid mark in case you might ever need a real hero to save your asses, not the other way around!", he yells back. Eraserhead looks confused. The twins laugh.
Mikumo, the master of ruining moments, asks: "Does our mother live? I wouldn't want to kill her."
And once again the moment is ruined. "She lives. But you got her in a coma. How did you manage that? Wait… do i want to know how you did that?"
Izuku gives him a wary look. "It was an accident, I didn't even know that tears came into the cup. You know I would never kill mother!", Mikumo defends himself. He really didn't notice.
Izuku shoves past the hero and Katsuki, his eyes watery. "You may have done it unintentionally but I will have to clean up your mess like I always do." Tears fall down on Inko's body but the abusive woman doesn't wake up.
"Izu… I'm so sorry, I know you loved her. I never wanted to hurt her.", Mikumo tries to apologise. Two sad birds chirp inside of them.
The air heats suddenly. A sudden wave of white fire hits Mikumo. "Keep you sorry. You killed her! You killed our mother! You and your cursed quirk! You are just like our father, a villain, they should put you into Tartarus with him! You are the Akatani of us. You are no Midoriya. You never were. And now you killed my mother."
Waver after wave hits Mikumo merciless. He kneels in front of Izuku, the black phoenix on his back burning. His tears are bloody. But he doesn't defend himself.
When the black haired boy hits the ground Aizawa breaks through his shock and activates his quirk. No further waves hit Mikumo and before the furious Izuku can do it himself he is captured in Aizawa's scarf.
"Slow down, kid. Your mother is not dead. She's just in a coma, she'll wake up. Since the acceptations of UA are on their way here already I'll be the lucky person to tell you you are students of UA. And considering your speech you are basically orphans now. Nedzu will be happy to have you two as wards of UA.", Aizawa explains, his red eyes never losing Izuku.
Mikumo, who did his best to get up again, falls back to the ground, weakened by Izuku and the news. "We don't have to have parents?", he asks hopeful. His words alone touch a weak spot in Aizawa. Not that he would ever let someone know. His grip on Izuku loosens.
"I will contact the police and Nedzu for this matter. Use your quirks and prepare to be expelled within the first day.", he tells them with a cold tone in his voice.
The next week is a mess, Izuku and Mikumo receive their letters by UA, their invitation into the heroics department. And even with Izuku hating the idea they design costumes together. Because that is what they had in their deal with Nedzu. To go through everything together as a team.
They didn't expect to break apart. But here they are, on their way to be a hero team with Izuku hating Mikumo. And Mikumo is thankful to move into UA, he gets his own room there so Izuku is less close.
Izuku won't hear his crying.
Won't hear him sob in his pillow every night they are apart.
Won't see his tears when he is called Akatani-san by his brother again.
And like that the weeks pass by, Mikumo and Izuku are excused from the last school days, they have to see Hound Dog at least weekly. It is their excuse not to see Mei and Hitoshi.
Mikumo refuses to eat, to leave his dark room except the meetings with Hound Dog, to speak to anyone else than Izuku.
And that is the one thing Izuku doesn't do. He won't speak to his brother if there is another way. His mind is completely blocked. His days are spends in the hospital, crying next to his mother until this migraine makes his pass out.
On the first day of school Mikumo and Izuku both nearly don't make it in time, Izuku is familiar with Mikumo waking him up and Mikumo is familiar to be woken up by Izuku after a shower.
Yamada wakes the whole house for the wards of UA with a scream. The poor man didn't know he drunk the last coffee on the whole campus, he really didn't, but when Aizawa demands coffee he won't accept that.
So Izuku and Mikumo make it to class in the last second, the angry caterpillar called Aizawa Shouta they ignore successfully. It works for them to sit silently together at a table, to listen to Aizawa, to follow the orders.
But when the two are in the changing room hell rains down on them. The first to hand them their asses is Bakugou: "Oi, Yami, Deku, who do ya think you are to ignore me? I tried to contact you two idiots more times than I called any of the extras from middle school. What the fuck is wrong with you two?! Only because you got rid of that abusive hag you better don't think you are any better than I am!"
The air chills and a black fire awakens on Miku's back. "I told you and him that it was an accident. I never intended to do it and i feel terrible without your shit. But in your case I would be careful with everything wet, what I did to her I can do to you with ease."
"And that leaves one question: why didn't you two tell us? I thought, we were friends? You two and Mei and I.", asks the second person to hand them their asses. Shinsou Hitoshi. They got him in.
"But…", tries Mikumo to say but Toshi's quirk kicks in.
"Toshi…", and Izuku is out too.
In quiet the boys get dressed and because Mikumo and Izuku are already finished when they got brainwashed Toshi lets them leave the room.
Chaos immediately rises. "Were those tattoos on their backs?" "What is the connection between the two and Shinsou and Bakugou?" "Who did Bakugou mean with abusive hag ?"
It takes Bakugou twenty seconds to explode in anger. "Shut the fuck up you stupid extras! You don't know anything about me, about them, about anything!"
A lot of people looked hurt but Shinsou felt like intervening would be the wrong thing to do. Because Bakugou was right. They had no idea what was wrong with Izu and Miku. Not even Toshi had.
Because the people he considered his friends were strangers to him.
Because the people who knew him best didn't even think about telling him who they were.
Toshi leaves the room and sees Izuku and Mikumo staring at him with blank faces.
Suddenly, while looking in the numb eyes of the green headed boy, he remembers. The long evenings in the summer when they lied on the beach and talked about everything and nothing, how bright Izu's eyes shone when he smiled back then.
After one last command he releases the twins. "Be phoenixes."
Two birds answer his command with a happy chirp, they want to be phoenixes. They only have to convince their holders.
So they start immediately, opening their mental doors against their holders command and happy chirps fill the minds of Katsuki, Mei and Toshi.
"Sensei."
"Tomura."
"They got in. We will have the plans by Friday."
"Good."
"What about our weapon?"
"Finished."
"What will we do about the witches brats?"
"End them. I don't tolerate disobedience and Witch needs a lecture. Offer the twins to your little toys when I have their quirks. I told Witch when she was pregnant, now she will suffer the consequences."
"Of course, Sensei."
The screen gets turned off again and the scratching of fingernails on skin fills the bar.
"Kurogiri. Tell me, what do you think about the plan? I don't like the part about Witch. We already lost Dragon thanks to those brats, we can't lose our last ace. We will give those fucks quirkless back to her. Just how she loves them."
"Whatever you wish, Shigaraki."
"Good. I don't like my pets dead. You can't play with dead pets like you can with living ones."
"Of course, Tomura."
"If they resist, kill all of them."
A scream comes from a metal door.
"Kurogiri, feed my pet. Tell her about my plans with the birds."
"... Quirk assessment test. You all are free to use your quirks in the best way possible. Akatani, Midoriya, you two will be working together, Nedzu said so."
The twins look at each other and nod. Izuku is still angry but he will not get expelled because of his issues with his brother. No, he will stay strong and work with him like professionals do. He will be a hero. Like All Might.
"Bakugou, do the ball throw. But you can use your quirk.", Aizawa tells the blonde.
After a loud "DIE!" there was a display showing 705.2 meters. Wait… 705.2 METERS?! In middle school his high score was around 67 meters!
For the grip test the twins let Mikumo do the test while Izuku coats his brother's arm in flames and Mikumo burns the handle lightly. They come in fourth.
At side steps Izuku takes the turn and does it quirkless, he used to practice it on the beach a lot. They come in seventh in that category.
The dash does Mikumo by propelling himself forward with his fire while Izuku waits at the start and sets the floor on fire. Katsuki is next to them and gets over the line just a moment later. The twins take third place.
Long jump, Mikumo propels the lighter Izuku into the air and puts fires on the ground to create small explosions when the cool air comes in contact with the white fire. They come in fifth.
Last category. The soft ball throw. And they make a plan. Sure, they can't beat the Infinity made by Uraraka but they could do a lot of stuff close to that. Second place is Bakugou so far but his score was something they could beat easily. So Mikumo goes inside the white circle and tosses a small part of the ball to Izuku who jogs away calmly.
Aizawa gets impatient. They were up to something. They already used their quirks pretty efficiently in every test so far but his monitor still shows no movement for the ball. His eyes itch just from imagining what his… no those... two problem children would do if they'd get along and be allowed to use their quirks out in the open. Hell, he even fears the coming development of their quirks.
There is a chill going down his spine as Mikumo throws the ball but the ball is coated in black flames. It never touches the ground. Except… no. That's impossible. But that tech is built by Powerloader himself. It wouldn't malfunction.
"Congrats, you got in second in this category with 5068.2 meters." There is a boy, Shinsou Hitoshi, quirk brainwashing, he did well without even being able to use his quirk. And he smiles. Oh yes, he would remember that boy. And the blonde next to him smirking he would remember too. There was something with those four and he will find out.

The next days are exiting, they get to know their English teacher PresentMic, their art history teacher Midnight, their mathematics teacher Ectoplasm and so many more pro heroes who are their teachers.
Of course they are more excited about Eraserhead than any other hero and do their best during his lessons but all teachers are super awesome.
Well there are some people asking the duo why they are so similar and are counted as one student while having different family names and so on. But it is okay. People respect them. And the Iida dude intervenes every time there is a rather personal question.
So life at UA is fine.
And then there is the lesson everyone seems to be hella excited about. Heroics. There isn't even a teacher listed for them. But at least Mei, Toshi and the twins are sure that if will be a daylight hero, someone to teach them stage fights.
All 21 student sit together in 1A and wait. The lesson started 15 minutes ago. And with a terrifyingly loud sound the door is opened and All Might enters.
Can I please play dead again? , Izuku asks Hitoshi and Mikumo. Sadly they say no.
"Put on your Hero Costumes and meet me on ground… I think alpha is free. Yeah, let's say ground alpha. Meet me on ground alpha.", tasks All Might them.
And chaos rages once more. "Our hero costumes?" "Wait, we never tried our costumes on!"
Is it normal for a teacher to have the incompetence level of All Might? , Toshi sasses.
Mikumo giggles a little while Izuku tries to become part of the floor. And that little happy sound makes a heterochromatic boy look up. A blue eye and a grey eye meet the red eyes of Mikumo.
And suddenly the giggle is gone. Small black flames start to dance around the Antiphoenix. A blush makes its way up Mikumo's cheeks and he turns away.
But while All Might explains stuff their eyes meet again. Only for short glimpses but they meet. And while the unnecessary explanation goes on and on Mikumo's face turns completely red. It matches his eyes at least.
And of course Hitoshi and Izuku see it. And of course they have to tease him about it. In his shame the black flames burn parts of his uniform away. And Izuku laughs at him.
But All Might finally finishes and containers come out of the wall. At student 18 there are two bags with gear. One is titled dove and the other is titled raven. An inside joke from Mei.
So the maniac got a hand on them. There are now two options: They will either be super overpowered or they will explode. The twins hope that Hatsume tested the gadgets at least before.
When they get into the changing rooms Toshi is the first person ready since his costume is made for stealth and flexibility. His costume is dark purple and black, the only thing not in this tone is a little bird drawn onto the back of his voice changer. Two bo staff rest in holsters at his tights. All in all he looks like Eraserhead without the scarf and goggles but with Mics speaker and more purple. And Izuku is damned if Hitoshi doesn't look hot.
Izu's costume is bright. Mei's babies look deadly. The belt is something he and Mikumo insisted on, something she made on her own. Small capsules filled with liquids. Some are white, others are black. A little post-it labels the belt "Tearbelt". It's even made Mikumo-proof.
They had to use Izuku's tears on the material. It took weeks but it worked, it was unable to be consumed by the black flames. But it's there and unlike the costume the belt is pretty loose.
The costumes are a dream even though their mother would be disappointed. They are skin tight, revealing and make the boys look feminine. But they insisted. They had to do this, everything else would be stupid and unfair towards all female heros.
They have masks hiding eyes and noses, the upper part starts as a neckholder protecting the throat and spine, small and flexible straps of metal connect long gloves to the top, on the sides the waist is exposed as well as the chest. The top ends less tight in two pieces of fabric dangling around their thighs, a bit above the over knees they wear. The whole back is only covered by small straps of metal showing the majestic birds.
Both costumes are in the respective colors of the birds, gold metal, red and white fabric for Izuku while Mikumo has blue metal, green and black fabric. Small gems in the color of their eyes are embedded into the costumes as well, small extras from Mei, they are buttons to activate small weapons. There are lasers, darts, bo staffs hidden in the boots, knives, whips and some the twins can't even identify.
A small note from Mei tells them to set the whips on fire when they are in trouble. All in all: they are equipped. And the smell of fire lays in the air even though the Phoenix fire is without smell. Must be someone else with a fire quirk. But who? The only person that showed a related quirk to fire is Katsuki.
They leave the room with Toshi and go to ground alpha, soon after the three boys are outside they are surrounded by girls. Oh, yeah, right, Mei is among them. So it's protective girls.
And looking at Mei they already found their mission for the year. The black haired girl in a very revealing costume looks like she is definitely crushing on Mei. And her three gay friends would be fools to let that opportunity slip.
The view of the tinkerer speaks more than words, how her pupils zoom in and out on costume details, how her fingers twitch in anger and she chews her lower lip in excitement.
Mikumo being kind hearted steps towards the two. As he speaks there are obvious hints towards the mutual crushing going on: "Yaomomo… i thought my costume was revealing but yours… should we exchange until maybe you and Mei can design something better?"
The lesbians are oblivious. But Yaoyorozu declines the offer and puts on her jacket instead, good choice in spring.
The situation got awkward soon and the dork of the day also known as All Might was a blessing in the moment he continues his lesson.
"So you will pair up in teams of two and encounter another pair. One pair resembles the villains who want to blow up the area with the bomb placed inside the building. The other team are the heroes and have to take down the villains or reach the bomb. Each team will get capture tape and who gets captured is taken out. While two teams are in the field the rest of the class will stay with me in the observation room and watch the battle.", he explains the task.
Mikumo raises a hand. The teacher nods to have his student speak: "Sir, we are actually 21 students. So either Hatsume here participates and a team does the task twice or we will make a team of three. If you opt for the second will that be done by the deal Izuku and I did with Nedzu or do you have other plans?"
All Might nods and some sweat runs down his forehead. "The Nedzu deal it is. Now the first teams to go into battle are… Bakugou Katsuki with Iida Tenya against Asui Tsuyu and Kirishima Eijirou!"
Like that the lesson goes on until only five people are left. "Last but not least: Todoroki Shouto and Shinsou Hitoshi as the heroes and… Midoriya Izuku and Uraraka Ochako as the villains!" Mikumo clears his throat loudly. "Of course will Akatani Mikumo be part of the villain team."
They all get ear pieces and the team of three gets send into the already in parts destroyed building. "Okay, Uraraka-san, your quirk is zero gravity, right?", Izuku asks the nervous girl next to him. He plans again.
She nods and looks at her palms, her fingertips have the signs for a five point quirk. "Okay, let's find the bomb we have to protect before the villains can steal it and use it for evil. Backup will arrive 5 minutes after the entrance alarms get activated."
"That… that is not our objective! We are the villains. All Might said so!", Uraraka argues. Izu gives her a wink.
"But we are heroes in training, don't you think? So we should have a heroic perspective. The perspective Izuku made up could be as right as the one sensei gave us. A misunderstanding maybe and now teams of unknown heroes will encounter each other because they want to protect a dangerous bomb. They will mistake us as villains and we will mistake them as villains. None of us will have to have an identity crisis.", Mikumo explains.
The three reach the bomb and Izuku examines the terrain. "Uraraka, as soon as the timer starts you will take the gravity from this bomb and go into hiding. Miku, stay close to the bomb, if they get up beyond us I'll notify you. Destroy the ceiling and send the bomb flying upward. No reaction to Toshi and a ring of fire should keep you safe from the Todoroki. We will try to confuse Toshi with the link. When I say Europe you start with the plan. Uraraka, please do me a favor and hide underneath this story."
The timer sets off and the girl touches the bomb quickly before heading towards the basement. It takes about twenty seconds for ice to reach the twins. More because of instinct than choice sends Mikumo a wave of black flames towards his brother. The icy prison backs off and Izuku whispers one word towards Mikumo. "Europe"
A wall of black flames shoots up towards the ceiling, burning it completely until sunlight hits them. With two fingers Miku sends the bomb flying. White flames hide all traces of this maneuver. Right in time for the duo to encounter Shouto Todoroki, his scarred side covered in ice and his red lens shining malicious.
Ice cages the twins again, slowly getting them closer together. When their backs meet all grief is forgotten for a moment and a chirp by two birds echoes through the mental link. Mikumo draws his whip, coating it in flames while Izuku takes a bo staff coated in flames too.
"As phoenixes we can't allow Zeus to take Europe away, can we?", Izuku says a little snarky.
It was always the greek mythology that inspired the twins. How things could have been better in the old stories. Before they discovered their quirks it was always the gods as the quirked. And everyone with godly blood had the potential to become a hero. To do the right thing and protect the ones who could not do that. Protect people like Europe from the grasp of selfish people with more power.
A flick of Mikumo's wrist is the only answer. Like hell they would someone take away something they protect. Izuku attacks the right and exposed side of the heterochromatic while his twin takes care of the other one. The icy armor slowly falls apart and reveals red hair, a bright blue eye, a red scar and blue cloths.
With one last flick of his wrist Miku captures Shouto and Izuku takes off to catch Toshi. The red eyed sighs and takes care of taping the wrists and ankles of Todoroki together. "Like… you know, i'm sorry for destroying your costume and stuff, but seriously, rethink it. It limits your movement and sight. If that lense helps you use glasses next time. And maybe have something to warm you up. Without a heater and against another rather cold quirk you'd totally be screwed. Maybe add something for first aid too…"
Like his brother Mikumo starts rambling but Shouto listens. So when the dark haired offers a hand to help him on his feet he takes it. Within a moment they stand close enough to each other to feel the others breath. Bare hands keep in touch for the moment. "Thank you, Akatani-kun."
Barely a whisper but enough for Miku. "Call me Mikumo or just Miku." The other nods.
"Okay, Miku-kun. Call me Shouto." A smile ornates Miku's face, not Izuku's sunshine smile but shining like the moon and stars at night.
"The villain team wins!", cracks through a speaker and Mikumo takes a shocked step towards Shouto. Both look startled and take a few seconds to calm down and take in the statement. The exercise is over. Mikumo, Izuku and Uraraka won.
With linked hands the two make their way towards the observation room leaving the cleaning to someone else.

In a hurry Izuku leaves the room. His brother would take care of the formal capture and what kind of twin would Izu be not to notice the obvious crush the dual haired and the anti Phoenix have.
A carpet of flames takes care of the ice and frees the way for the phoenix towards Hitoshi. Now did the icy genius manage to capture you in ice or did he find out that your fire is a bit op against him? , asks the brainwasher.
Izuku refuses to respond. The entrance is only a few meters away. Deactivating the bo staff and activating a pair of flame guns the boy slides outside right underneath Hitoshi's weapon.
A shot of white fire in super speed barely misses Toshi's stomach. But of course the lilac boy can dodge like an expert. They trained with Mei, they can dodge even sleeping.
He grits his teeth. "Let's dance." A wave of sped up fire blasts shoots at the brainwasher who reflects a few with his staff, the others pass him.
Izuku's wrists come in contact and the pistols vanish. He sends with his feet some fire at Hitoshi while his hands activate a crossbow, firing at his opponent he uses his flames to propel himself upwards into another house.
Mei, I know you loved creating those costumes but don't you think, this is a little too much? , the lilac says in their secret chat. Crackling is the only answer but enough for Hitoshi to brainwash their friend. Tell me their weaknesses. Now.
The gems trigger the appearance of my babies, they don't have fingerprints or something yet, if you can get close enough you could get the weaponry to glitch. I made an emergency button too and it is on their lower backs. It deactivates all systems until they get close to my transmitter or the coordinates of the beach. Mei is done and when Toshi locks eyes with Izuku he notices how the brainwashing is finished. The Phoenix propels himself higher to escape physical contact.
But of course the bo staffs weren't the only gadget Mei gifted Hitoshi with. A grappling hook connects to the wall next to Izuku and only a jump saves from from being captured. The wind is rushing against his face while he falls. His arms refuse to move forward, the ground comes closer every second. If this really would be his last moment he wants to thank his brother, his mother, even their father, he might have been a villain but in the end he never used his fire breath to kill.
That's it! Fire breath! His chest feels squeezed but he takes all his force to get air in his lungs. When he opens his mouth again he screams. But there is no tone leaving his mouth, it is fire, white and living fire. Suddenly there is less pressure on his body. He lives. His father saved him.
Flames rawr around him when his feet touch the ground again. Emerald eyes are filled with tears when Izuku looks around him. He is not dead, not even wounded. Two small flames emit from his shoulder blades but disappear soon again. On his knees the boy cries.
In that position Toshi finds him again, he offers the smaller a hand which is taken… and used against him. In one smooth movement Izuku wipes the others feet from the ground, captures his hands and blocks the rest of his body with his own. The white tape around Toshi's wrists shows it, the twins and Uraraka won.
It takes a few seconds before All Might announces it but they did it. They won.
When they meet up with the class again All Might doesn't leave time for chitchat. "Now, who can tell me about the MIP? The Most Important Person."
A few raise their hands and Katsuki is the one to answer the question: "It was Deku, he made the plan and they all executed it. Round Face wasn't that necessary, Half'n'Half rushed into it without much of a plan even though he knew Yami and Deku had fire based quirks, something ice is not very effective against. Petunia tried but had the wrong environment, he's more of a underground person, working in the shadows suits his fighting style and his quirk more, he had no chance even against a repairing quirk. Yami took care of really capturing Half'n'Half if he and Deku would have swapped places the battle would have been over a lot sooner."
All Might looks like he would have accepted everything but that. "Young Bakugou, that was mostly correct but the MIP was not young Midoriya but in fact young Akatani. Without him that plan would never have worked."
Katsuki looks ready to kill and he is not alone. "Izu, would you mind to show your quirk to our sensei? Kirishima, please give me the honor and play the guinea pig.", Mei demands. So they take position, Kirishima activates his quirk and Izuku sends a wave of fire towards the male.
Like a stone he hits the wall ten meters behind him and the crack is repaired by some white flames too. The class applauds while All Might looks rather surprised. "Sensei, if you don't want students dead you shouldn't have me fight them with my quirk. Izu can do enough damage to take care of things we want intact.", Miku replies. His red eyes look dead and the air chills while the tattoo on his back comes alive in a mix of green, blue and black.
The blue eyes of All Might shine in fear. "Class, you are dismissed. Akatani, Midoriya, please stay for a moment.", their teacher says. The twins exchange a look with their friends. Wait for us in the classroom? , Izuku asks and they nod. 20 students leave the room and the Phoenix twins stay back.
"Midoriya, Akatani, I saw what you two did in the entrance exam. At first I was impressed, really. But after seeing you today i noticed something. Midoriya, you have a non violent quirk, there is no chance you could have gotten into the hero course on your own. And I just discovered your secret. You are the children of Dragon! You are villains!", he exclaims.
Black flames emit from Miku and their breath looks foggy. "Don't you dare to call my brother a villain. Our father might have been one but we came here because we are going to save lives."
In the same time Izuku sets a distress call off: Get Aizawa! Fast! Miku… he will kill Miku!
Three seconds. That is the time it takes until the door is kicked onto the floor and Aizawa in his full hero montour glares at their teacher. A flash of red is all they see before a growl escapes the mouth of their homeroom teacher.
"This is your first lesson. You had a plan made by experienced teachers. Nedzu himself made teams for even matches while sparring." A hint of guilt shows in the number one's eyes. "And you decided to just don't care and let the students fight in buildings? Without safety measures? Without experience of any kind? What kind of teacher do you think you are? They tried on their costumes for the first time, some of those are constructed to have deadly consequences! Have you gone nuts?!"
The ranked hero tries to speak. "Oh no! Don't you dare to pull out an excuse! I'm not done yet! Because not only you don't follow the plans we made for you, no you also threaten our two newest wards?! You do that hard enough so students come my way because they fear you will kill two innocent children?!"
Now All Might indeed speaks. "Innocent children? They are the sons of Dragon! They are villains, just like their father! They cheated to get here and they somehow manipulated Nedzu! And they thought they could use a villainous technique without me noticing! But no, I am smarter than that! I found out and I will not let them hide among us anymore!"
Another growl. "Don't you even dare to come close to them. These children are under the protection of Nedzu and I. If you just think about laying a hand on them I will do everything I can to end your pitiful existence."
"But Dragon…" "Dragon had more morals and brain cells than five of you! And each of his sons can outsmart him. They have the will and potential to become heroes and I will take care that they are going to be heroes. Out. Now."
All Might leaves and the tension disappears with him. "You two problem children. I'm sorry for his behavior and assure you that I won't let something like that happen again. But please take the time to explain how you notified Shinsou, Bakugou and Hatsume."
Izuku who usually likes to talk about quirks remains silent. "Sensei, you see, our quirk is a combination and mutation of our parents quirks, our father has fire breath and our mother has minor telekinesis. It formed our Phoenix quirks with not only the fire aspect but also our tears. I can harm people who come in contact with my tears while Izuku can heal with his. Everyone came in contact gets a small Phoenix mark on their spine like the ones on our backs just smaller and unmoving. It connects us to them and gives us the ability of telepathy."
Aizawa nods. "That sounds like an advantage during fights. But it makes you more valuable, when villains find out about this you will be their target."
They nod. "We… we figured but for as long as we only keep our friends and trustworthy people in it… if we use it in battle we can also unmark with a second tear…", Izuku answers with a stutter.
"I knew you were smart. Now get out of your costumes, Nedzu wants to meet you before your session with Inui." The boys bow and head off. They don't see their sensei smile a little as they take of.
"Tomorrow they will get the plans, sensei. But it seems like they will need a distraction. All Might is confirmed. The info is leaked and by tomorrow morning the press will be on it like vultures. That will be our first distraction. A security breach is our plan B. If nothing works Kurogiri will take care of it."
The scratching of fingernails once more.
Heavy breathing.
"News about the twins or a student All Might care a lot about?"
"A third year, Mirio Toogata, seems to have awoken All Mights interested. The twins showed their potential, they have a lot in common with Dragon. I want them! I want them in my League! With me or dead! All dead!"
Crackling. Fists meet the bar.
"I want those bird to be mine! And you will shorten their wings, they will be unable to fly. My birds, sensei. They are going to be mine. All of them!"
The door behind the bar gets shaken and screams echo through the room.
"Kurogiri, i want her to shut up! Make her shut up!"
Scratching again. The TV gets turned off.
The screams behind the door continue until a misty man enters the room with the source. A flash of dark green gets yanked away.
The bar is quiet except for the scratching.
Whimmering fills the cell of Shigaraki's pet. "Please, Kuro. Wake up. This isn't you. Remember who you…"
A strangled sound escapes the room.
A limp body falls onto the ground and Kurogiri leaves the cell. A long and green hair is left on his sleeve unnoticed.
"Something else, Shigaraki?"
The younger nods.
"Notify the others. I want a meeting of the area leaders tomorrow evening. And we need someone to have a look on the child All Might has a personal interest in. Maybe something we can ruin his life in society with. Let us show the blood on his white west."
The man nods silent for more orders.
"Get going! I don't want to wait all day!"
Soundless the man vanishes.
"So… we have two birds to catch, a king to kill and with his prince we will let the monarchy fall.", the villain thinks out loud.
His fingers twitch like they need to do something. "Kurogiri, where is my Nintendo!"
He screams and hits the bar. A dusty hole stays back. "If you need things to be taken care of completely, take care of them yourself.", he mutters towards himself while searching for his Nintendo.

Thursday is a surprise package for the twins, in the homeroom periods Aizawa lets class elect representatives after whatever system they like. Iida as the kind person he is takes care of the voting system. In the end it's a tie between Yaoyorozu and Toshi for second place while Izuku and Mikumo got a clear first place.
"There must be a mistake, I'm not… I can't…" With pleading eyes Miku looks at his brother. Nobody might have expected it but the broccoli boy has a devilish grin on his face.
"Come on, Miku, it will be fun, don't worry."
The red eyed twin shivers visibly. You are absolutely evil, Izu.
In the second vote Yaoyorozu is elected second class rep.
The lunch on Friday is rather uncomfortable. Everyone was on edge after the press somehow found out that the number one hero was teaching at the school.
The twins are scared if someone would discover their parentage. The names Akatani and Midoriya were unknown to public but deep in the heroics business… well, it was rather uncommon for Detective Tsukauchi to declare two family names the truth. Akatani was the family name of the birth family of Dragon, Hisashi Midoriya was the name he took after marrying Inko.
With a total of 3 class representatives 1-A got even more attention, much to add on to the twins uncomfortable feeling.
The sudden siren blaring made the two jump in their seats and soon all students were on their feet, running towards somewhere nobody knew clearly. Mei and Toshi were parted from them soon and only their linked hands made Izuku sure about his brothers presence.
They bumped into Iida accidentally but the tall runner was like a rock in the flood and kept them and Uraraka safe from the masses.
"What happened?", the girl asks scared.
"The barrier is down. Someone is on school grounds.", Izuku informs. He learned the alarms once for fun.
Iida nods. "The press got in. The other students need someone to tell them!"
It takes Izu a millisecond to fix his eyes on Uraraka. "Take Iida's gravity away, Miku and I get him up and then towards that exit sign.” He points towards the exit in the hallway.
Iida seems rather hesitant but has no choice. Mostly involuntarily he is floated onto the glowing sign where he takes position and begins one of his speeches.
"You all need to calm down! It's just the press and this behavior is unfitting for UA students!" His hands jab through the air. "Return in order to your home rooms and be careful with the smaller students, we don't want any casualties."
A white fire spreads from underneath the sign. "Please step away from the flames, they can't harm you directly and we need some space to let Iida back to earth.", Mikumo tells with a dead voice.
The other students return to their usual doing, some get back to finish eating, others go into their classrooms.
A small boy stays close to the group, his hands twitch exited and drool hangs from his lips. His eyes are focused on Uraraka's skirt. The boy moves silently forward and grips the skirt only to be stopped by a pale hand around his wrist.
"Let go of her this instant or prepare to burn." Red eyes set on the boy with purple orbs for hair.
The perv stutters and lets go of the skirt but is unable to pull away. Mikumo quirks an eyebrow. "Got something to say before I ask Mic-Sensei if you are in his class?"
Grape boy pales before turning furiously red. "You are unfair! You all have flashy quirks and get all the girls! But I will win the sports festival and get into the hero course as well!"
A new voice gets into the conversation. "I'd like to see you try and get crushed." A pair of tired eyes meet Miku's.
The small guy answers: "I will-" His eyes go blank under Toshi's control. "Tell us your name and class. Once I lift my control you will never even look at a girl without her permission."
"Minoru Mineta, Class 1-D. Understood."
Just for the show Hitoshi snaps his fingers and Mineta leaves with his eyes fixed on the floor.
Uraraka beams at them smiling. "Thank you, that was so cool! That perv bothered me since the entrance exam."
Chatting the group of five goes back to their classroom, the twins don't really focus on their surroundings but instead trust the people around them. This changes when they reach the door and Uraraka goes silent.
In gigantic red letters is one word written across the wood: VILLAINS. Inside the classroom Katsuki yells as well caused by Kirishima holding him back. The reason the redhead had to is the twin's table. A dragon's wing is drawn onto the plate as well as curses and other things.
"I will find this damn fucker and kill him!", Bakugou screams in fury. Sero, Satou, Ojiro and Mina look apologetic at them, a bucket with sponges already next to them.
Shinsou looks ready to join Katsuki on his killing spree but Izuku lays a hand on the taller's back. He smiles. "Don't worry, let's just wait for Aizawa so I can clear it up with my fire. The mess here is no problem."
Izu has gotten stronger, back when they were younger the broccoli would have been in tears. Miku is proud and worried, Hound Dog probably could offer a solution.
When Eraserhead arrives in class he seems to have aged multiple years. The only thing his eyes offer is anger. But he allows Izu to take care of the door and the table. He also lets the class representatives take over once Izuku is done.
Momo doesn't know the plan yet but she'll probably be fine, her position will be the only thing that won't change. Aizawa doesn't seem to care about the class rep as well so it should be fine.
Mikumo starts: "Today has been eventful to say at least. And… my brother and I came to the conclusion that we are less suited for this position than another member of our class. Therefore we planned a new system that will change our class rep but hopefully won't unnerve any of you."
"The press incident makes clear that Iida Tenya is a better leader than the both of us, therefore we would like him to take our position if he agrees to the adjustments we made.", Izuku takes over "We decided that the class rep and their vice should be equal so nobody will abuse their power."
"We wouldn't expect it but Yaoyorozu deserves an equal position, she is smart and could lead us as well. We also wanted to take some of the work away from our class reps by giving them a council of sorts-"
"Said council will be where third place Shinsou Hitoshi and us will be seated. We will make plans and give advice even though the class reps will be the ones to make a decision." Izuku takes a breath before both look at Iida.
"Iida, would you agree to the system we made and take over as class rep at the side of Yaoyorozu?", Miku asks while holding a hand out.
Iida takes the hand and shakes it. "It would be an honor." Izuku smiles and takes Iida's hand as well.
"Then it's settled. Good luck, class rep!" Beaming Izu drags Miku back to their place between Shinsou and Bakugou.
Seriously? You pulled me into your council mess? Why not Snowflake or Froggy? Or Floaty or whatever? , Shinsou complaints.
Mikumo rolls his eyes. Because we thought you were smart, dumbass. We also know that you dislike using your quirk for making others do what you want.
Toshi growls a little but the three smile as well. The home room lesson that is basically a supervised study hall by now is calm, every now and then Mei chimes in and talks about the stupid people in her class or her wonderful new babies. It sounds like PowerLoader got all hands full with containing her crazy genius. And who would the hero trio be to take away that fun by selling Mei's weakness to the Pro. They aren't that cruel. Not if it's about their best friend.
A kick into the ribs.
"Kuro… I know you are still in there. Fight. Please, fight it. You are stronger than him. You don't want to hurt them. You want to protect, don't you remember? You always wanted to be a hero."
A hit in the face.
"Hisashi and I always tried to shield you. You were like a brother to us."
A kick aimed at the gut.
"Their quirks are phoenix related, right? They will need help, Kuro. They don't know about the families quirk history."
Choking.
"Please. If you can't do it for me, do it for Hisashi. He did all he could for your safety as well. His last heist was to get a stabilizer to keep the quirks in your control."
Another hit in the face.
"There is a damper in his treasures. So you can get rid of the collar. You can be free, Kuro."
Another hit.
"You know where to look and how to get there. Save my boys, Kuro. Save Izu and Miku. In your heart you are as much of an Akatani and Midoriya as Hisashi and I."
A kick.
"I will try, Inko. I will try."
Tears hit the ground.
"That's all I can ask, Kuro. I love you, little Hero."
More tears.
"I don't know how long I can stay in control of my mind anymore. I can't even stop hurting you."
A punch.
"It's okay, Kuro. It is okay. I know better but I've had worse. I will be fine. Just take care of my babies. Don't let Chameleon take them."
"I am so sorry, Inko. But I will try. For you and Hisashi."
"Akatani-kun? You wanted to talk to me?", the pro hero asks.
The phoenix nods slowly. "It's about Izu, Sir. He… he got better control of his emotions and… I know he was hurt and he would have cried about it but now… I am worried about him. I don't want him to smile when he's sad. He shouldn't have to lie. But… how could i protect him? How can I stop people from calling him a villain?"
The counselor sighs. "You know, even the best heroes can't stop all attacks. They are sometimes as powerless as quirkless people."
Mikumo grits his teeth. He used to be bullied for a lack of a quirk and even back then he could protect his brother. "Don't you say another thing about quirkless people! I was quirkless for the majority of my life and still was able to keep Izu out of trouble." He doesn't know when he left his chair or when his flames started dancing around him but Inui looks a bit scared and very sorry once Mikumo could read his face.
He calls his quirk back in the blink of an eye but some damage is done. Izu would have to clean up his mess again. That's why Miku dislikes his quirk. Sure, it gave him a great advantage in fighting but it's only ability was destruction and death while Izu could repair and heal.
"Izu was right… I am the villainous twin, he is the better half and deserves to become a hero but me… I should ask Aizawa-Sensei to put me into GenEd after the exams.", he says in a moment of weakness. Izuku didn't forgive him and definitely dislikes their current situation.
Now it is Hound Dog's turn to get angry. "You shouldn't think like that. You have a quirk perfectly suited to protect others and the guts to do it. You and your brother lived through bad things but you two are strong, Akatani-kun, you were the one who got you out of that relationship with your mother. So you can't talk or even think like that. Didn't Aizawa tell All Might he would make you into Pros? Think about how disappointed he would be if you refused."
A ruby eye glances up at him. "Are you sure? I could be a hero like Aizawa-sensei?"
The pro nods. "I am certain. Aizawa himself had a lot of trouble becoming a hero, his quirk isn't any flashy and his personality not really made to deal with fans. But he found his place in heroics and you agree that he's doing a great job, right?"
The anti-phoenix smirks. "He's awesome. The best hidden Hero out there."

The bus drive to whatever location Aizawa chose is normal. Everyone talked, Katsuki threatened multiple people with death and Mikumo managed to fall asleep on Kirishima. The redhead chatted happily with the awake twin, discussing quirks and exchanging thoughts about everything and nothing.
"Dude, you and Akatani-kun have super similar quirks. How did you find each other and got the deal with Nedzu? It's like I'd have a soulmate with a softening quirk!", is one of Kirishima's first questions.
Izuku bursts out laughing. "We're no soulmates, he's my twin brother, I have our mother's name and he got the name from our father."
The look on Kirishima's face is similar to Kaminari's after he short circuits himself.
"Midoriya-kun. I want to tell you that I'm a very straightforward person.", the girl with a frog quirk joins the conversation.
"Oh… okay, Asui-chan -"
"Please call me Tsu.", she interrupts "I noticed that you and Akatani-kun have not only quirks similar to one another but also very similar to the number two hero Endeavour and the high class villain Dragon."
Out of years of practice Izuku can lie calmly to her: "You see, our mother's quirk is telekinesis. Our father had similar to Dragon a fire breathing quirk but there is no relation between our father and Endeavour or Dragon. Miku and I just studied them because Phoenix and Anti-Phoenix are in their pyrokinesis aspect very like their quirks. Just because we aim to be heroes doesn't mean we have to do everything ourselves, right?"
From there on the whole bus is part of the conversation, discussing similar quirks on all sides of society and how to use them in heroics. Just a few moments before Aizawa tells them to leave the bus Mikumo awakes as well.
"Izu, please be careful today. My Phoenix feels something bad coming." And Izuku can only agree, his tattoo shifts uncomfortably as well. Something evil and villainous is incoming.
As the class enters the facility all caution is forgotten for a moment. "Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint! Or short USJ.", greets the space hero Thirteen.
Thirteen is Uraraka's idol and the girl starts quietly talking to Izuku about them. While the heroes make an introduction about rescue heroes Miku's tattoo shifts again, sudden flames emit from his back as he falls to the ground.
Close to the fountain a black gooey portal appears letting a lot of villains out. "Thirteen, stay behind and protect the students!", Aizawa yells and prepares to jump down into battle.
A white wall of flames stops him. "We need a communication system first. You are suited best for surprise attacks, don't risk your life that stupidly!", Mikumo tells his teacher.
Izuku steps forward and offers a small container from his belt to him. "Use it when you are hurt or need to contact us, we will notify the school. And take care of yourself."
Mei, we are under attack. Tell Nezu now. , Miku tells their friend while the underground hero jumps into battle.
"Class! Come together, we can't let them scatter us!", Iida calls out. The twins go into the group's core together with Momo, Toshi and their class rep.
"They have a portal, we can use Thirteen against that, Miku and Tokoyami would make a good combination, Hagakure and Aoyama would work together as well, Kirishima and Bakugou would make a good team.", Izu starts to strategize.
Iida adds: "I could get the harmed people from the battlefield, Izuku, you should stay in the back with Kaminari, Uraraka and Momo as our secret weapons and to take care of the injured."
Momo nods. "Yeah, Sero and Mina could probably make a small passage for you and stop any villains coming close to us. And Shinsou…"
"I will take down their leader.", the brainwasher points out the obvious.
"Okay class, we have a strategy!", Iida calls out. The grin of Bakugou shows bloodlust and everyone seems okay with the plan.
"Remember, stay close to you team mates if you have one and don't do anything that might kill you. Alas stay away from that big thing.", Miku rounds up.
"Then let's go.", Todoroki says impatiently. He clearly doesn't like crowds. With a last nod from Iida the class's fighters go into battle.
Thirteen is the first to go down, with their own quirk used against them it didn't take much more. Thankfully Sero stayed behind as well to tape the suit before Izuku could burn it shut again.
Next to go was the team of Bakugou and Kirishima but they stayed together and kept in contact with the twins. A few thugs were no problem for two of the strongest students of 1-A.
It was much later with Hagakure and Aoyama already out of battle as well as Todoroki teleported into another zone that Izuku feels true fear. Kurogiri who is responsible for the portals gets Toshi out cold and ports Miku away as well as Tsu. Their figures fall near the shipwreck zone.
For three seconds the Phoenix loses control. White flames roar and take down half of the villains left. Miku! he mentally yell is just as desperate as the cry he lets out. As his eyes meet Toshi's again there is the feeling from middle school again, a burning like when the phoenixes came.
Two cocoons of flames appear in different places, one around Mikumo, one around Izuku. Not gonna die today.
When Mikumo opens his eyes he can see the surface of the water. Usually his mirage would be visible there but it's just a lot of darkness. But he still floats above the water.
Slowly his body gets higher but all Miku can feel is his fire burning slowly. Miku? You… we… we got an upgrade, I think.
Izuku is fine as well, similar to his brother. The flaming wings on his shoulders are a new but welcome weight. It is strange to feel the weight of flames, usually they were just a feeling like a butterfly's kiss, soft and barely noticeable. The wings feel like new limbs and still alien. Like a borrowed tool.
That feeling slowly moves to the rest of their bodies, laying over their costumes at some places. Mikumo recognizes the new weapons first at the same time he fends of a villain with some shark mutation. There are claws on his hands like extension of his nails. They are black and blend into a glove made from small feathers in the colors of his fire.
From the biceps downwards hang long feathers like loose sleeves, the shoulders are free while a strap connects the chest with a helmet protecting the skull but also providing a facemask ending in a beak on the nose.
The chest piece is rather simple, the upper back is left open showing pale skin where the phoenix burn would be and the attachment of the flaming wings. There are pieces left out along the waist and feathers forming a skirt that's short in the front and long in the back.
Mei's overknees are covered in feathers as well with a small claw extending out of the heel able to grab things as well as slice.
Each twin is clothed in his respective fire colors with some sort of visor in the color of their eyes.
Izu watches worried as his brother tumbles through the air not used to flying yet. The green sunshine himself wonders how to get himself up but his first concern are his friends.
Hey, I'll take care of the plaza here, can you get our scattered classmates here? Jirou and Kaminari are gone, Todoroki is somewhere as well and Tsu is in the water. Shoji is missing as well. , he lets Mikumo know.
As Izu gets up from the ground Mina and Sero turn around. "Listen, I'll go in and get the others. Aizawa didn't use his capsule yet so he's probably fine. We don't know about their bird but our side still didn't show their greatest weapon. I trust you to take care of the people I send here even though I will try to heal everyone with distance attacks. Keep Iida with Momo, we can't have him rush in, okay?"
The two nod and Midoriya starts running towards the stairs, his wings flap furiously until he jumps.
And flies.

I said i'd double update so here the second chapter for today. I'm so happy i got past my block! How do you like the new costumes (name reveal in a month or two)? Don't worry, Mei-chan's costumes are still intact and unharmed even in Miku's case. And yes, you read correctly, with that new costume the tattoo like phoenix is gone (because it went from inside to outside). Also another power showed itself that will become important in Kamino and the Overhaul arc (it's called Phoenix ash).
Do you got ideas for internships and work studies? Like, what pro should take them under their wing? And no, i won't do it with hawks because my bby Tokoyami has to have his special thing. I mean, the big chick will try to take all 3 birbs but i don't wanna have that happening.

Chapter 9: Chapter (Ascending)
Summary:
Previously: Izuku Midoriya and Mikumo Akatani got into UA wth their two best friends, Hitoshi Shinsou and Mei Hatsume, their mother is in a coma after she came in contact with Mikumo's tears and not even Izuku can wake her up. All Might found out that the twins are the son's of high class villain Dragon but Aizawa protects them. Talking about Aizawa, 1-A is attacked by the League of Villains at USJ, all electronic signals are jammed but that's no issue for our Phoenixes who just recieved an upgrade. But what is the creature Shigaraki brought with him, who is in the League's secret room and what's actually up with those bird quirks?

Chapter Text
Activating the whips Izuku lashes out at thugs freeing his friends and classmates in the process. Tears of anger swell in his eyes that come in handy once he reaches Shinsou. Two drops just fall down shortly after one another, mixed with a little blood already.
The brainwasher gets up fast, the two staffs in his hands ready to fight. "Come on, Toshi. Miku is busy so we gotta take on the big bad guy, okay?"
The lilac nods and together they get to Shigaraki. Izuku flexes his hands in their feathery gloves revealing talons like the ones on his shoes but bigger. Behind the green lenses in the helmet nobody can actually see Izu's eyes but Shigaraki can feel them burning on his body and into his soul. For the first time since he was a kid he feels fear.
"Hey, Handyman! What makes you so special? Why are you their leader, huh?", some kid in a suit like that pro hero asks him.
He clenches his jaw. "Nomu! Get Eraserhead and kill him!" It was caused by the similar outfits that Shigaraki goes after Hitoshi. The boy barely deflects a hand meant for his head, instead his bo-staff gets disintegrated. But instead of being concerned he smiles and gets bathed in white fire repairing the staff and even the smallest rips in his costume.
"May I introduce you to our back up? The Phoenix here will be your greatest nightmare and with me at his side you can't even fight him."
Red eyes behind a hand glint in malice. "Oh, you'll-"
"Will I see? I don't think so."
Izuku suddenly intervenes, swooping up Toshi for a high ground. Aizawa-sensei? Do you need help? We have the leader in our control.
Mikumo is the first to respond: Just think very loud if you want to tell us something. Also I have secured the teleported students and am coming with Todoroki towards the black creature, Kacchan and Kirishima are coming as well, they just take the land way.
Aizawa's gruff voice appears soon in their heads: Good work. I'll take care of the portal if you take over the big guy. Midoriya, stay close to the leader, if he gets free or something it would be a pain.
They all confirm, even Bakugou, and start their mission. A wave of ice hits the Nomu followed by a wave of cold flames slowly eating the monster's limbs away. Aizawa is freed and starts taking on Kurogiri. Bakugou and Kirishima join in, with their help the portal is taken down quickly.
At the same time Izuku and Hitoshi are struggling to keep the leader untouched. Unused to the wings, Izu stumbles and hits Shigaraki with his whip across the face, taking the hand away in the process. For a second he wants to laugh but he feels the Phoenix flare up in panic, his wings beat rapidly and his feathers ruffle. A wall of flames rises and saves Izuku barely from Shigaraki's grip.
"Nomu! Kill the birds! Kill them now! And everyone who comes in your way!" The black creature breaks free and charges at Mikumo. The entrance doors crash and a blur of red, blue, white and yellow hit the Nomu away.
"All Might!", comes from students and villains alike.
The pro hero has an easy game against the monster especially with Todoroki and Mikumo keeping it in check and the twins being its main goal. Its shock absorption might be a good counter to All Might but in the end physics still apply to it and without any grip on the floor it gets sent through the glass dome of USJ.
"Kurogiri! Get us out!", Shigaraki commands and while the yellow misty eyes are trained on Izu and Miku the man has no chance but to follow. Not even Aizawa can stop him.
In a dark portal the two disappear but Snipe got a good shot into Shigaraki's left hand and Yamada's screech left the thugs with covered ears and too slow to follow. A female villain with snake hair panics and the vipers jab at Aizawa, biting him all across the torso, arms, throat and face. Most of them only scratch the skin but some do indeed bite, one even rips some flesh from under the pro's eye.
For a second time slows down until it moves too fast. Aizawa falls and Izuku propels himself into the air flying at his teacher.
The blood dripping from his eyes falls onto the ground while he tries to cry but nothing except the red liquid leaves his eyes. Mikumo lands next to him and grabs him around the shoulders. It's only a hug but Izuku throws against the arms, trying to stay above Aizawa for his tears. His belt didn't contain more than one container and Mikumo doesn't have any containers of healing tears yet.
Finally the tears swell up in Izu's eyes and bloody drops fall onto Aizawa. The wounds start closing slowly, scar tissue forming under the teacher's eye.
"Midoriya, stop. Recovery Girl will take care of it. Midoriya!", yells Cementos. Midnight comes close but is stopped by a wall of black flames.
"It's okay, Izu. You saved him. He lives. It's enough. Come on. We have to go to the others, Mei and Toshi are probably worried sick.", Mikumo murmurs instead into his twins curls. Both of their costumes had vanished and left only the official ones left, bloody tears probably leaving evil stains.
Exhaustion and migraine catch up to the green haired a few seconds later, his tears stop and only blood leaves his eyes now. His body goes slack and Miku picks him up bridal style. The ruby eyes of the Anti-Phoenix glow and his aura is worse than the one of a villain, not even All Might approaches them. Only Present Mic passes them without a second care in the world because the pro's world is lying unconscious on the floor thanks to Hizashi's own mistake.
Mikumo passes Izuku to Hitoshi and breaks down himself barely outside the facility. The grass cools down until it klirrs like glass.
A white suit steps into Miku's field of vision and a perfect split of red and white leans close to him. A warm hand comes to rest on his forehead chasing away all the cold of black fire and fight.
Mikumo takes a deep breath and the blood pours from his eyes as he slowly passes out. Only the feeling of Todoroki's warm hand stays.
It takes until Wednesday that 1-A has lessons again. At least Aizawa is fully healed and only a few bandaids are left as a sign of the fight.
"Get into your gym uniforms. The coach and I'll wait on field beta and work there with you on teamwork and hand-to-hand. The school has informed your parents and guardians about future events and how we assure safety in the future. There is also a new councilor just for this class as well as all the other hero classes. She's called Cece but you will address her with 'Ms Councilor'. You all will have to see her every now and then so you better make the appointments than me or Nedzu.", Aizawa hands them the information before the class heads towards the changing rooms.
Only in the separated room the class starts talking about what happened. Kaminari with his nonexistent ability to read the mood starts questioning the twins: "Man, that was so awesome what you two did during the incident. I still don't understand how you got a signal out, all my support items didn't work no matter what frequency I used. And the new costumes are super dope."
Sero agrees while the others try to look busy. Bakugou sets of small explosions though. "We have a strange form of telepathy tied to our ability to heal and kill."
Shinsou takes of his shirt and faces the room to hide his mark.
"That sounds awesome! It's super manly to have secret communication abilities with your friends.", Kirishima chimes in.
Hitoshi laughs and turns around. "Sure, if you like to have a bird on your spine all the time and you have to keep your thoughts silent so nobody listens in. And if you like near death experiences."
It's the first time for the class to see the white Phoenix burned into the skin close underneath his neck. Right on the spine glows the little bird exactly like the one on the voice modifier.
"That means they used their quirk on you?", asks Tokoyami's quirk. The boys are still not used to have her around most of the time especially since Tokoyami explained her gender identity. But for Mikumo Dark Shadow is a nice companion.
"Yeah, Izuku saved his life multiple times. His tears can heal. Kacchan got the same one in my colors since last year so we could communicate during emergencies and Izuku showed already signs of overuse.", the black haired explains to her.
The little bird twirls around him. "So it's in the colors of her fire?"
That confuses all boys. "Her?"
The shadow giggles a little. "You never talked to her, didn't you? And your brother doesn't talk to him either. I mean, they didn't even introduce themselves with names…"
Tokoyami hisses: "Dark Shadow, stop that. Their quirks shouldn't be our business."
Slowly a light bulb brightens in their heads. Figuratively of course. "So our quirks are sentient? Like, completely sentient? Not just the powers but all the knowledge about danger and where Marked are, all that was them, not a quirk aspect?", Izuku solves the riddle.
Dark Shadow nods happily and the twins give her a smile. She really is too cute.
We need names for them. We know yours is male and mine female. Any ideas? Also, we should ask Tokoyami if he wants to be part of the telepathic group. , suggests Mikumo.
Izuku nods. The fear of losing his twin and later his teacher who already did so much for them… Izu decided that his brother is more important than a woman who didn't love them for eleven years.
We have opposite abilities but are twins. Like the sun and moon in ancient times. He winks at Mikumo who realizes what his brother implied. Apollo and Artemis. I like that.
It seems like the birds did as well considering their happy chirps. Apollo and Artemis definitely like their names.
In the uniforms the class goes together to the gym and Uraraka starts an excited conversation with the group around Izuku.
"So you just found out that they have their own mind? Didn't your quirk specialist fill you in? Or your parents? Usually sentient quirks are passed down and quite uncommon."
Izuku only nods and lets Hitoshi drag him. The migraine from Monday still makes him dizzy and rather tired. If Apollo feels the same or even worse?
A reassuring song echoes through his mind. Apollo is fine.
Coach Miyeta and Aizawa are chatting in the gym, a parkour already built up around them. The usual matts for hand-to-hand lay in the middle, enough for ten students.
"Class, we decided that five pairs of you start in the middle. You know the drill, no quirks or you'll get extra miles to run later. And you won't use your quirks for those as well. The rest can use their quirks in the parkour. Don't damage anything unless you are in danger.", explains their home room teacher.
The coach takes over. "Once two of you finished a round in the parkour you'll switch with a team in the middle. Always take the team longest in the middle or you'll get extra laps. Understood? Midoriya, Akatani, you'll switch after two rounds and the one not occupied will get extra training with Aizawa and I. We gotta work on your quirk stamina."
The class confirms but can't stop to talk about their disagreement. The pairs for hand-to-hand a quickly on the matts and start sparring while Izuku and the rest of the class starts the parkour.
Mikumo watches Aizawa closely. "You want me to attack you. With my quirk. That can destroy basically everything. After you nearly died two days ago."
The pro nods and his eyes look more exhausted and annoyed than ever.
So he takes a breath and closes his eyes for a second. Artemis? Would you help me and take care he doesn't get hurt? Probably only Izuku can hear the conversation since he made sure to keep Toshi, Mei and Kacchan out but he isn't really sure.
Artemis responds instantly, her wings grow out of Miku's back in all their flaming glory and feathers spread all over his body. She screeches and flaps her wings. Mikumo lets her control his body completely.
And so the Anti-Phoenix ascends to attack her pray.

Sooo, Hi!
This is not a chapter. This is me, telling all of you what's going to happen. As you can all see this fic has been on basically hiatus for a looooong time. Cuz I had a life. And life was stressful, and annoying, and i absolutely am thankful to be back in my writing zone.
But i still have a life, it is just better balanced now!
Yet the question arises: what will happen to WFB? Let me tell you:
I will keep this work up as it is but won't update it anymore. With this chapter i will mark it as completed. Instead of nothing happening to this AU I still adore so much I will make a series though, a series where I will post rewritten scenes from WFB in a continuous story but with much less commitment issues than a multi chapter story.
The phoenix boys, their plot and ideas aren't lost yet. I will rework them and hope to see you all in the rewrite some day!
