Those three words...
The summer that has brought Risa and Otani together was a great one for her. Not even in their senior year of high school yet, was Risa in another world. They shared kisses in private as Otani was afraid to show her in front of their friends. Mostly public display. She knew eventually he had to grow out of it. Agreeing not to bother him when it comes to kisses, or hand holding in public.
What was said everyday by Risa were those three words..
"I love you, Otani."
Hearing her saying those words had his heart leaping out of his chest. He known how he felt about her too. The tall girl, madly in love with the short man. She eagerly awaits for him to say the words right back. Hoping it would come true before the end of the summer.
"I love you Otani!" Otani sighed. His face brightened red with just that comment. "Yes..I know..." He waves his hands away.
As content as she was, deep down she was devastated. "Otani, please say it right back.."
He looked right back at her. Her eyes said it all. She was so devastated and sorrowful.
"...No pressure about those words."
She shook off her head. Giving him an understanding nod. Eventually it would come true. It had to come true!
"Let's go Karaoke?"
"Yes! A great idea," Otani clasps his hands. "The one by the train station isn't far from here."
The loving couple still in the beginning stages. They were always fond of each other's company even through minor disagreements. The walk to the Karaoke place was brief. From there Risa would try reaching out for his hands. He was mindful of what she was doing. Looking around he slowly held out his hands for her. "Are you sure?"
"Just shut up and hold my hand!" He spat at her.
She snarled taking his hand. His hand was nearly as sweaty as her own. Or it could had been the hot day she tries crushing his fingers.
To no avail! He had strong fingers all thanks to playing basketball. Risa mumbles few words. None heard by Otani. They've made it to the building where the Karaoke setting was. Entering they made the arrangements for just themselves and their friends coming in the hour. While in waiting Otani looks over a manual of music lyrics. Risa sits beside him.
"Let's listen to them."
"Oh yes I'll look it up now."
Otani tries looking up new music of their favorite group. Umibozu. It was found in the last few pages. Risa begins playing the music. She sings along. In a very bad voice.
"You're horrible." He would say mocking her.
She was callous with his remark. Either way both were enjoying singing and dancing. Just the two of them.
Otani looks her way few times. She was an amusing young girl. Heck tall she was but couldn't help liking her so heart tightened just looking her way. What did it mean?
Shaking his head, Risa looked back at him. A little concerned she was too. "Everything okay, Otani?"
".u...uh.. I...love you.."
Those three words...
Risa prances on him. Face bright red. As was Otani. Not saying a word lips met one another.
Chapter 2: Your kisses makes me fall for you

Your kisses make me fall for you
Risa couldn't get the thought of Otani kissing her. They shared a kiss unbeknownst to him. It flooded her mind in the last few weeks. All she had to do was tell him what he has done to her. Her heart especially.
"I was planning on giving up on him..." She would tell herself.
How she had failed to do so. The small kiss he's giving her etched in her heart, and mind. One day during school when the teacher was discussing of what will happen during their junior trip, all Risa could do was panic. Atsushi took noticed. Whispering how she was being weirder by the day.
"You're so weird..." He whispers leaning close to her. "Would you calm down.."
Too bad she couldn't. As he was the one that was effecting her panic attack. Out of nowhere she screamed aloud. All in class looked their way. Atsushi could just shake his head, scratching top of his head.
"I don't think she's feeling well...sensei.."
"Does she need to go to the infirmary?"
"Yes, possibly I can take her?" He rose his arms.
A nod from the teacher as he gets out of his chair. Risa would laugh uncontrollably as she was losing her mind. Her best friend looked on worriedly. Shaking her head figuring it had something to do with her realization and feelings for Otani.
In the nurse's office, Otani looked out for her. No one wasn't around, as the nurse allowed them to stay. Though they weren't supposed to miss their next class. Luckily, it would be lunch for them both.
"Koizumi, you worry me sometimes.." He sits on a chair.
She looks back at him. More at his lips once he talked. Leaning closely to his face, caressing it gingerly. "You did something to me..."
He rose a brow. Slightly confused as he puts her hands down. Back onto her lap while wondering what she meant by her comment.
"..what did I do to you?"
She giggles while poking his lips. From there just kisses him. His face heated up when his own lips returns the kiss. A tiny peck turns into a make out session between the two friends.
Not realizing both were being watched. None other than by Nobu. How jumpy she was soon as she saw them pull apart. Their faces redder than a ripped tomato too.
"omg, I can't believe this."
She pulls Risa away from him. All Otani does is back away from the chipper girls. He had to leave. Surely he wanted to. Something was stopping him or someone exactly.
"You two were kissing," She nudges the tall girls' arms. "How was it?"
Looking back at an embarrassed Otani, all she could do was giggle. It felt very good to have him kissing her back. She surely knew his lips was a tasty treat for her.
They stared at one another. Faces turning pinkish as noticed by Nobu. Trying to get them to look her way, she snapped her fingers few times.
"Oi...!"
"...Y---yes...?"
"You want a taste of her again, hmm?" Nobu teases.
All Otani could do was stick his tongue out. "It was very nasty..." In such denial he was. But didn't want to play in Nobu's hands either. Risa could do just smack his arms. "How bad you were too...!"
They began arguing among each other.
Throughout the afternoon, the one kiss between them was replaying in their mind. More so in Otani's mind. He wasn't aware she was a good kisser. Scribbling in his notebook the many times he'd like to do it again. With her.
For Risa, during their last class she looked his way. He was looking over his notebook, or workbook giving to them by the teacher earlier that afternoon. Her mind replays it all.
"I can't help it...that kiss is making me want to fall in love with him..." She would write in her notebook. Somehow it couldn't be helped how she truly felt for the shorter boy. Falling in love with him wasn't a bad thing.
It was how he'd see it. Was it a bad thing all because of her height? Embarrassment in her part, just being around him, he'll see her as a friend. She wanted more than that with him. For sure she did!
The last bell rang as everyone jumped out of their seats. As does Risa, and her friends. More Nobu, as she grabbed Risa's arms.
"We're going to talk of what happened today."
"Why Nobu-chan?"
"Was it good for you? Though he could be lying to us, just to protect his dignity." She whispered when looking at him.
Her eyes followed. Pinkish cheeks once he looks back. A small smile gives it all away. He smiles back before going back to getting his things ready for basketball practice.
"I'll get him again for this, Nobu-chan." Risa promises. She fists pumps the air.
Chapter 3: Shy Kisses

Shy Kisses
Chiharu couldn't wait to experience many things with him. Her current boyfriend of a few months. Though the biggest step for the shy quiet reserved girl was being comfortable with him. As well as knowing their feelings among each other was mutual. As their friends know, always pushing them to go on dates.
"Yes we will." Chiharu says in a lower voice. Her body stiffens every time he looked her direction. Giving him a warm shy smile. He would do the same before sitting down on his desk.
"Have you guys kissed yet?"
The nosy tall girl sees her friend's face reddened. Already knowing the answer to her question. A quick nod coming from Chiharu has Risa overjoyed. Homeroom not even starting and she's jumping for joy. How happy and lucky were her girlfriends. Chiharu would try to hush her in a low voice.
The boys weren't aware what was going on. But Otani already knew Risa was being hyper as ever. Rolling his eyes he looked back to Suzuki. The smaller of the group was curiously wondering how the date went once the friends split up few days ago.
"What kind of move you made on her?"
"We haven't gone too far if that's what you mean." Suzuki states looking towards the girls. Figuring they were jabbing Chiharu about their date a few days ago.
"I never thought that." Otani assured him. "This seems like it's new to you, and Tanaka-san."
A nod was his clear respond to Otani's statement. Sharing nothing big between his friends. They were comfortable among each other. Getting to know about each other. What's their biggest dream. As one of them wasn't sure what she'd like to do when she's grown into an adult.
"I'd would love to help you reach out for your dreams." Suzuki patted her shoulders. His free hand playing with few strands of her hair. "Whatever it may be."
Those words had her flushed. A bit of embarrassment while she was gleeful. A guy of her same age, getting to know, believing she'd fall in love with him.
"Thank you, Suzuki-san."
Not a word was said by him. Sharing few kisses among each other. Their first kisses being toward each other, as it turns out to be shy kisses. Their bravery as their relationship consumes on, from shyly embracing each other, or shy kisses as their heart would change into one.
Suzuki and Chiharu remembering that, as their friends continued to call on them. Risa waves her arms at her. A giggle coming out of Nobuko knew what was happening with her. Same ordeal going on for Suzuki. The boys already knew the look. They known Suzuki was falling hard for the cute girl. Their shyness and interaction among each other, seen by the friends throughout the summer was very cute.
"What's going on with her, Nobu-chan?" Risa would ask while seeing her giggle.
"Our Chiharu is falling in love."
"Is that true, Chiharu-chan?"
The expression on her face said it all. Looking back at her boyfriend too. They shyly and happily shared a sweet gaze upon each other. Suzuki believed in his heart, as he was feeling it she was meant for him. As for Chiharu, a feeling she's never experienced has her flowing with so much happiness.
"I want to make her/him mine forever." The couple would say in their mind.
Chapter Text

He knew he had to save her. He knew he didn't want to ever see her going through any danger. Wrapping his arms around her while throwing his body. How lucky for her Suzuki was her knight. The biggest regret for the both was not being together at this time. Looking up at the sky while tears stream down her face. As well as he's looking down from the sky above.
"I'm sorry I'm not there with you right now."
Suzuki would say while watching her. The most he has seen of her since his final breath was pure darkness in her room. Or anywhere she went. The foursome friends trying to get her to awake from her despair.
Not much would come out of her. Except fresh tears. Her friends and family comforting her the best way possible.
Suzuki would do the same. As a spirit he would soar down a few times since his tragic passing to tend to her. What he would do for her is give her a cold hug. Welcoming the cold embrace few times at night in her room she could feel his presence there.
"It's not fair. You're not Ryoji."
Chiharu hiccupped laying her head between her legs. His own sorrow mood wishing to see her warm beautiful smile. Or hearing her laughs. He'd whisper into her ears.
"I love and miss you. I haven't gone anywhere! Please know and remember that I'll always be here for you, Chiharu."
Whispering his compassioning words for her. Suzuki knew he didn't have enough time. He had to soar right back up with the angels in the sky. Before doing so, he decides to share a precious memory and time with her. He does so as his angel wings twinkled powder of warm sprinkles into Chiharu's heart and mind.
A memory fondly remembered by the two. Their last night together before his timing.
A couple for a decade now were buying ice cream together. How in luck for them the parlor was still opened and had few costumers. Counting them as well. Deciding on getting the same thing.
"Are you sure, Ryoji?"
She would ask him cutely. Grabbing for his arms, while resting her head.
"I'd eat anything you'd want to eat too."
She heartfully giggled. He does the same as the line moves along. Just two people in front of them till their turn.
"Maybe we can try something new."
"Okay," He agrees making sure he had enough money, "What did you have in mind?"
"A strawberry ice cream with sprinkles?"
Tilts his head as he looked onto the display. Few of the cold treats were nearly done. He understood it all because of the timing.
"I don't see what you want on display."
A little sad she tiptoes seeing what exactly was there. Still holding onto his arms as she sighed. She was defeated as he was correct. Suzuki stayed on line while he pulls her back into his arms.
"It's closely our turn once their done."
He points to an elderly couple up ahead. Not to long their done and it's their turn. Eyes looking to what was available and tasteful to them.
She'd ask the ice cream scooper of what's available. The older women gives a brief statement of the kinds of delicious cold treats that were there visible on display. What catches Suzuki's attention the most was the mentioning of hot fudge sundae.
"We'll get one!" He clapped his hands together.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," Pulls her in his embrace while kissing top of her head. "We're going to share it."
"I know and I didn't forget."
Not to long they've gotten it. Suzuki paying for it as Chiharu looks for a quiet booth they can sit in. Finding one she dashes towards it. The booth was right beside the back door of the parlor shop. He joins soon after with a small spoon in hand. He could gaze at her in amazement, anytime. She does the same. Not a word said while sharing their late cold treat together.
"I love you."
"I love you right back."
The sudden flashback replaying in her mind has her waking up. A little shook up she goes towards the window. Few sighs coming out of her while hugging herself, and looking right up at the night sky. A sudden spark of lights has her smiling. Happy tears. How in reality she knew he was watching her.
Up in the sky he pleads for the angels to have him watch over her. Knowing he wasn't her guardian angel, didn't really matter to him. She was his soulmate. Ever since they were both teenagers in high school. The angels would agree to have him watching her, when it was needed. Needed the most. As of tonight Suzuki knew he had to be there for the sweet kind girl. Or young women she's become, and always love her forever.
"oh my heart. I'll always be beside you."
Notes:
I wrote this as someone I love so much has died in mid March. As for Suzuki, it's up in the air for all to guess how he passed away.
