Chapter Text
You looked up at the big set of modern looking buildings in front of you, protected by a large wall that wrapped around the entire campus. You were very lucky to even be here right now. Sure you had the advantage of being from UA anyway behind you, along with your reputation but you still felt lucky to be going to Musutafu's best once again.
You were taking primarily hero courses as you had been in the past except at a higher 'difficulty' with more coursework and such . On the side you had the normal, science and English, fuck math no one wants that. Along side your final course of Animation and graphic design. Which they had graciously added to the extra curricular.
You were pulled out of thought by your father who had wrapped his arm around you and squeezed. "Oh so you're done with your fans now?" You teased earning a chuckle from him.
"You know I have to keep the people happy. And so do you." He smiled.
Your father Hoshi was a well known pro Hero Meteor. The newly number 6 hero. His quirk? Emitter, the ability to create baseball sized objects from various materials or objects and launch them like projectiles. The objects themselves appear to look molten and emit a harsh heat of around 900°C, and can be launched at speeds of up to 90 mph.
Can you tell how you got into UA yet?
You were lucky in your upbringing to say the least. Anyway lets step back from the past and get back to the present.
"Yeah, yeah I know." You breathed as you looked back up. "You know you don't have to come in with me right? I'm a big girl I can do it all by myself despite what my dear mother seems to think." You pointed out a little sourly.
"You know she just wants you to be safe. I'll just tell her that I came in if you really don't want me to." He agreed with a sweet smile plastering him from cheek to cheek. Christ you could see where you got your looks from.
You gave a smile back. "Would you? I'm literally an adult I'll be fine by myself. The only reason you're bringing me here is because my car hasn't been repaired yet." You reminded as you watched him put down your suitcase.
"I know. I feel like I'm dropping you to UA again." He reminisced.
You slowly turned to look up at him. "You literally are dropping me to UA this is the exact location, just a different part of the campus." You pointed out. You shoved him playfully before grabbing your suitcase. "Anyway! Get out of here I have stuff to do, people to meet. It's already 10:30am as it is." You beamed, a hint of nervousness behind your words.
You said your goodbyes and thanked him for bringing you before you walked into one of the on campus apartment buildings. They had recently been built and were separate from the high school dorms along with the actual high school. Since you weren't at that stage of life and you were in a university you wouldn't have a normal classroom set up you would have an auditorium set up, where you just walk in and pick a seat at random, sit down and listen to the person at the front.
These apartments were different from the high school dorms in most ways as well. These were fully fledged apartments, each one had its own living area, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms. The whole business, and you also had to pay rent. Which is completely understandable.
UA had put a LOT of money into this, making everything look as modern as they could, along with having high quality of everything.
Now you could have had an apartment on your own but it was cheaper to share. That's the primary reason. You didn't mind sharing, but your only problem was you didn't get to choose who you were sharing with.
And now was the time to meet your roommates.
You stood outside the door of apartment B-6. It was called B-6 for one reason, it was on B floor and it was the 6th room. Simple.
You took a breath and opened the door to see a very confused looking man sat in the middle of the living room floor trying to put together a table of some sort. You smiled at him as you caught his attention. You knew that face. That was Denki Kaminari, or Chargebolt as his hero alias. You watched as he bounced up onto his feet and let a few screws drop off of his shirt.
"Hey!" he beamed as he walked over. "New roomie?" he questioned.
"Don't call her roomie that's such a loser thing to say." Another voice chimed in, you turned your head to see Mina Ashido, or Pinky. You and her had worked together a few times considering your dad's agency and the agency she worked at were sister agencies. She was someone you considered a friend. "Hey Y/n!" She greeted with a smile.
"I'm Denki." Denki introduced.
You gave a nod. "I know who you are Denki. I'm Y/n if you didn't catch it."
"Ohh you're Vibranium!" Another rather bouncy voice interrupted. "We know you!" He beamed.
Eijirou Kirishima, Red Riot. A manly hero if you'd ever seen one.
You smiled a lot more comfortably now that you'd met these three. "That's me." You replied sheepishly. "Nice to see you again Kirishima."
"You too!" He smiled as you all started to get more aquatinted.
Your room was at the end of the hall, closest to the bathroom and next to an empty room. You scrunched your eyebrows as you walked into the living room. "Who's room is next to mine if you've already chosen yours?" You questioned.
"Oh that's Bakugou's." Kirishima hummed from where he was sat on the floor, attempting to help Denki with the table. "Speaking of him, he's not gonna be here until a little later on. And since he's working today I thought I'd give you the heads up that he might be in a cruddy mood when he's back."
You nodded before going back to your room to unpack. Which you were done with by about 2pm. You walked into the living room and threw yourself down onto the couch, sitting amongst the others as they still worked on that damn table.
You conversed and got comfortable with each other as time went by, quickly learning that you all got along incredibly well, within the first hour that you were hanging around, you were all laughing and giggling at each other as you all attempted to set this side table up for the couch. You were lucky to be surrounded by these kinds of people.
At around 6pm you finally got the table set up, it was a little wonky but that added charm. You were currently walking in with four cans of soda, throwing one to Mina, Kiri and Denki before the apartment door opened next to you.
You turned your head to see Bakugou walking in, his face dusty and his costume dirty as he dropped his gauntlets by the door. "Oh! Hi Kacchan." You grinned.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!" He fumed as he glared at you.
"Kacchan? That's your name isn't it?" You hummed obliviously.
A low growl came from his throat. "That damn Dek-" He was cut off by your giggle as you held out your unopened soda can to him.
"I'm just fucking with you dude." You teased. You frowned as he pushed his way past you, nearly knocking the offered drink out of your hand before you caught it. You watched as he stormed his way towards the bathroom before slamming the door behind him.
You could hear Mina start to giggle as he finally got out of earshot.
"You really made a good first impression huh?" She laughed as you turned back around to them before moving to set yourself down on the couch next to her.
Kirishima looked up from his place on the floor. "I warned ya."
You shrugged at him. "I just wanted to see what would happen. How annoyed he'd get at me." You admitted.
You all sat quietly and watched TV for a while before Denki perked up.
"Hey you guys, I'm starving can we get something to eat? Maybe go get burgers or something?" He asked optimistically.
You opened your eyes since you'd started falling asleep and looked at Mina who was leaning against you doing the same thing. Barely a day in and you were already this comfortable. "We don't exactly have much choice since we haven't gotten groceries in yet." You explained watching as his face lit up.
"Oh hell yeah! Burger time baby! We could even go ask Sero, Jirou and Yaoyorozu if they wanna come." He beamed.
Mina opened her eyes and looked at him. "What if I don't want burgers? Also I'm pretty sure that they've eaten, Jirou texted me about some sort of dinner they were having earlier." She questioned.
"You could get something else." Denki replied. "But I want burgers!"
"Burgers do sound pretty good." Kirishima agreed as he looked up to you and Mina before he stood up. "I'll go ask Bakugou if he wants anything." He offered.
You nodded. "I'm down for burgers. Mina if you don't want a burger we could go someplace else to get you something."
She gave a dramatic hum as she thought. "I mean I could just look at what they have." She admitted as she stood up.
Denki bounced out of the arm chair and smiled. "That settles it then! Burger time!" He chirped as he walked to his room to get a jacket.
You all got up and got yourselves ready to go get food. It was a little chilly out and pretty much dark outside so you got one of your thicker jackets before throwing on some sneakers and walking back out to see Kirishima and Denki by the door.
"What did Bakugou say?" You questioned.
Kiri shrugged. "I don't know, he's being weird right now. I think he just wants to go to sleep."
"It is almost his bedtime" Denki teased, looking down at his phone.
You frowned a little, "So he said he didn't want anything or did he just say nothing at all?" You hummed watching the red haired man shrug. "Whatever, he can sort himself out." You brushed it off as Mina came out of her room in a full face of makeup.
"All that for burgers?" Denki quizzed as he fixed his hair.
Mina raised an eyebrow at him as she grabbed her keys. "Uh, yeah. It's a good excuse for makeup." She admitted as the four of you walked out.
You decided to walk to a near by restaurant to grab something, since walking was easier and there were plenty of places close to campus for you to get food.
Mina had ordered a Rice burger with extra okra, furikake fries and a drink. Denki had ordered a simple cheese burger with extra cheese and two sets of fries, and Kirishima had ordered two double beef burgers to satisfy his rather large appetite.
You ordered your regular take out meal, nothing fancy.
You all sat down at a table in the quiet restaurant and talked amongst yourselves as you did so, just getting to know each other better. Which was so much easier than you thought it was gonna be.
"So. Y/n." Mina started. "Why Vibranium?" She questioned. "You know as your hero name."
You finished a bite of your food and swallowed it, looking around at the other three, They all seemed intrigued as to why you chose it. "It's kind of stupid." You admitted.
"No it's not. I mean we don't even know it yet but it sounds cool as hell!" Kirishima tried to reassure you. "So I bet the backstory is just as cool."
You smiled. "I'm afraid you're gonna be pretty disappointed if that's the case." You chuckled. "You know how my quirk lets me make chains? Well they're strong. Stronger than most metals if not all of them. Sure they can still break but it takes a specific hit to do so. Or a specific series of hits in certain soft spots." You started to explain.
"Well Vibranium came to mind when I was a kid. I remember watching Captain America, you know, the first Avenger. And watching them explain his shield I kind of just thought about how my chains were like my shield, as stupid as it sounds. and having that sort of emotional connection to it, when the physical qualities of them matched up I sort of decided it and stuck with it." You concluded.
Mina smiled at you. "That's actually super cute." She confessed.
"Kinda manly if you ask me." Kiri approved earning a nod from Denki.
"I don't know what you thought was so stupid about that." Denki crunched through a mouthful of burger before earning a kick under the table from Mina.
"Don't talk with your mouth full." She scolded before finishing off her food and downing her drink.
You smiled softly and looked down to your remaining food. You weren't exactly expecting that kind of response but honestly it made you really happy.
Once you had all finished you decided it was time to head back to the apartment. On your way there you remembered that Bakugou hadn't eaten anything, and as much as you would like to brush it off and just go home you couldn't. He looked rough when he'd come in and you could tell just from the state of his clothes that he'd been working hard. You looked around the street for a place to pick him something up before spotting another take away.
"You guys go ahead, I'm just gonna grab something from here." You informed before walking in and looking at the menu. You decided to pick out a serving of Tantanmen ramen with extra rayu for extra spice. Not that you had any idea if he would like it or not, it just seemed like something he would.
You walked out of the take out to Mina, Kiri and Denki waiting for you. "I thought I told you to go ahead?" You questioned confused.
"You did. But we weren't gonna leave you, we came together so we go home together!" Mina beamed as you all started walking again. "Anyway what did you get in there?" She pried as she looked at the container in your hands.
"Oh I uh. I got Bakugou something." You admitted sheepishly. "Just in case he hadn't eaten." You brushed off.
"That's mighty kind of you Y/n." Kirishima praised. "What did you get him?"
"Just some Tantanmen ramen." You hummed as you all walked back.
The apartment was silent when you walked in, signalling to you that Bakugou was probably asleep. But you wanted to go give his food to him anyway, even if it meant placing it on his desk for him to get later.
You quietly walked to his room and gently knocked on the door before letting yourself in. His room was dimly lit by his TV but other than that it was dark, and quiet. You walked in and closed the door lightly before looking over at him laying asleep in his bed. He was turned away from you, his body facing the far side near the window. His bed was placed up against the wall your bed was placed up against but other than that his room looked different.
You chewed your lip before looking around for something to write a note on before seeing his studying supplies and grabbing one of his sticky notes and a pen to write a little note for him before leaving.
As soon as his door shut he turned his head and opened his eyes, making sure that you were gone before he sat up to take a look at what you had left for him, that smelled delicious. Picking up the note first
I bought you some Tantanmen.
Don't know if you like it but I didn't want you to go hungry.
Y/n
He stared down at the note for a second before throwing it onto the bedside table, taking the ramen and opening it up. It looked incredible, and frankly Bakugou was excited to eat it. Not that he would admit it to anyone.
You rubbed your eyes as you headed towards the bathroom to brush your teeth before heading to bed, noticing that Mina was taking her makeup off in the mirror.
"Hey was he awake?" She asked as you got your toothbrush ready.
You shook your head at her. "Nah, I just left it on the side for him with a note. Hopefully he doesn't yell at me for wasting a sticky note." You joked gently earning a small giggle.
She looked over at you as you started to brush your teeth before she continued to rub moisturiser into her face. "He just needs time to warm up. He's not that bad." She defended. "And besides you did call him Kacchan with the purpose of annoying him, the minute you met." She pointed out.
"It was funny though." You garbled through a mouthful of toothbrush and toothpaste.
"Ha! Yeah it was." She smiled. "I think you're gonna fit in great with the rest of our friends." She enthusiastically told you. "I mean it. I can just feel that shit you know?" She expressed as she finished up before moving out of the way of the sink for you. "Anyway. I'm going to bed. See you tomorrow." She smiled as she ran her hand across your back while walking out.
You gave a muffled 'Goodnight' through your routine before finishing up for yourself. You made sure that the door was locked and everything was shut off before heading to your pretty bare room. The next few days you knew you were gonna spend setting this place up and you were rather excited for it.
You threw on an old shirt and a pair of shorts before crawling into bed. You flipped your TV on with the intent of watching something until you fell asleep but as soon as you put something on you were out like a light.
Everything felt good, like good things were going to come from this.
