Fleeing Sunlight

Summary:

“Ah- Hey!” Mona ran out of her house and looked out at the girl and something in the back of her mind told her this was wrong. She attempted to look into the girl’s future as she ran off, but all she was met with was a fall and cold nothingness.

She shivered and looked at the drawing on the table in her house before closing the door and running off to find the girl, but by the time she got to the gates, Klee was long gone.

Mona stood there before remembering what Klee said, “The Grandmaster!” She turned on her heel and ran to the headquarters.

The Abyss takes what it wants, and it doesn’t let go.

Taking Mondstadt’s Spark Knight however- was unexpected.

~~

Y’all I’m actually finishing this :D

Notes:

I thought of this about 2 months ago and I had to write it out.

I adore Klee and I’m so sorry

(Heads up I have commitment issues with writing long stories but hopefully my hyperfixation will last)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Albedo watched as a blur of red went through the now open door and approached him.

He looked down at the girl as she wrapped her arms around him. “Big Brother Albedo!!” She looked up at him and grinned as he smiled gently at her and per her head. “Klee.”

Klee giggled and let go to grab something from her backpack. “Look!!” She pulled out a few flowers and held them up.

Cecelias.

Albedo frowned a little then smiled again, “Where did you get these Klee?” He hoped she hadn’t gone out of the city exploring alone again.

“I got them out on one of the cliffs! I heard Mr. Venti talking about how they were there and I know they’re your favorite!” She grinned more.

He crouched down, “They’re very pretty Klee, but hasn’t Jean been telling you not to go out alone? You know there have been more Hilichurls and Abyss Mages near the city as of late.” He tried to remind her not to go out without seeming upset, he knew that she would feel guilty if he scolded her.

“Well… Yeah… but I wanted to get you them!” She swayed back and forth looking down, still holding out the flowers to him.

Albedo sighed gently and took the flowers, “They’re very pretty, thank you, Klee.” He gave a gentle smile. She looked up and grinned then jumped a bit, you could hear the light clink of her bombs in her backpack.

Albedo smiled and pet her head, “Do bring Kaeya or Amber out next time though, okay? I’m going out to Dragonspine again tomorrow and you’re going to have to listen to Jean’s rules okay?”

Klee frowned, “Can’t I come with you?”

Albedo shook his head, “Klee you know how when I have that sign on the door that says ‘experiment in progress’, you aren’t supposed to come in?” Klee nodded, “That’s what it would be like on the mountain, I’m always working on an experiment.”

Klee gasped, “Always?”

“Mhm.” He nodded, “So we wouldn’t be able to spend time together, and you wouldn’t like having nobody to play with right?”

She shook her head again.

“So you have to stay here with the knights, and you can play with them.” He spoke and she agreed, “so you have to follow Jean’s rules, can you promise me you’ll follow them?”

She nodded and held her pinky finger out, “Uhuh!” Albedo gave a small smile and locked fingers with her.

Klee ran through Wolvendom looking for her friend, gasping when she found the wolf-boy on the path running through the forest with a couple of Wolfhooks in hand.

“Razor!!” She grinned and ran up, jumping in front of him.

The Wolf Boy looked down, “Red Burny girl.”

She giggled at the name and grinned more, “I wanted to help Razor hunt for his L- Lup-”

“Lupical.” The boy spoke, saving the girl the trouble of saying the word.

“That!”

Razor let out a short hum as he crouched down, “ Lupical not here in forest right now. Lupical is away.”

“Huh? But isn’t the Lupi- Lup-”

“Lupical”

“Aren’t they your family? Why would they leave without you?”

Razor winced.

Klee stood there thinking for a moment, “Oh! It must be like how Big Brother Albedo left to the mountains without me because I wouldn’t like it there!”

Razor didn’t want to explain and just let Klee take his silence as an agreement.

Klee hummed, “Well then does that mean Razor can play with Me?!” She grinned up at him.

Razor let out a grunt and agreed with the girl, setting the wolfhooks he was holding down.

Klee sat coloring in Jean’s office as she and Lisa spoke in hushed voices at the desk, looking at the documents in front of Jean.

Klee swung her legs and finished her drawing walking up to them.

She held the paper and stood next to the chair Jean was sitting in looking up at them.

Lisa looked over Jean’s shoulder, standing on the other side of the chair, “Hey sweetie, is something wrong?” She asked.

Jean looked over at that, “Do you need something Klee?”

Klee smiled at them and held out the paper.

Jean took the paper and gently smiled looking at it, “Is this us Klee?”

Klee grinned and nodded, Lisa looked at the paper and smiled.

“It’s wonderful, sweetie.” Lisa reached out and pet the girl on the head.

Jean reached over and gave the girl a hug.

“Thank you, Klee.”

Klee bounced on her feet and smiled, “Can I go play now?”

Jean laughed gently, “Sure, but don’t-”

Klee had run out of the office with the word “Sure”.

“Leave the city…”

Kaeya stood talking to the guards at the main gates, checking in when he saw a blur of red pass.

“Klee?” He turned and watched her run across the bridge, happily yelling her apologies when she scared off the pigeons.

Kaeya sighed and said his goodbyes before chasing after the young pyro user.

When he caught up to Klee she was sitting on a log looking into the lake.

“Jean would be upset if she heard that someone tried to fish with bombs again,” Kaeya spoke, walking up behind the girl, picking her up and setting her on his shoulders.

Klee gasped as she was picked up, “Big brother Kaeya!!” She looked down at him.

“Hey, Little Spark Knight.” He spoke.

“I wasn’t going to try and fish, I was just looking.” She poorly lied and Kaeya set her down.

“Uhuh.”

“Really…”

Kaeya chuckled, “Well, I suppose I didn’t see anything, why don’t you come on back to the city with me now and you can play inside Mondstadt, there are a lot of Abyss Mages lurking around here.” He smiled and guided the girl, throwing a warning look at the pyro mage he saw in the trees down the path from where they were.

Klee nodded, agreeing because Kaeya was agreeing to not tell Jean what she was doing, walking back with him.
