Chapter 1: Cuyanir|Survive

Chapter Text

  Chapter One:
Cuyanir

"Spectre 2 to Ghost , mission success. Phantom returning home"

Hera Syndulla smiled slightly at the thought of going home. To her Family .

"Understood Spectre 2, safe travels love" A reply came.

It had been a long mission, one of dodging TIE's and gathering intel, and as per usual, her contact had been incorrect about some aspects, much like the fact that it was well more heavily guarded than anticipated, being 5 Star Destroyers and a dozen or so cruisers, significantly more then intel had suggested. Had she known how much of a struggle sneaking under the radar would have been she would have fetched the crew with her and stormed the place instead.

Nevertheless, here she was, plotting the hyperspace coordinates the head back to Yavin V when something piqued her interest. A light on the Phantoms dash lit up red, flashing with a slight beep - there was an incoming ship.

Hera held her breath, holding off on making the jump out of instinct.

Then a flaming ship, no bigger than the Ghost, came unsteadily out of hyperspace but as damaged as it was, the pilot kept it steady and handled it well despite the fire. How this pilot was so calm was unknown but Hera's heart pang. She should help the ship because it wasn't of Imperial design so it shouldn't hurt, plus the Rebellion could do with a pilot so....steady.She justified her need and want to help.

The modified K-36 Redthron made a harsh jolt as Hera could see as the left engine failed, making a sharp nosedive as it headed towards the planet.

The comm radio gave off some static as it flared to life.

"K-36, Icarus, Do you require assistance? Over" Hera spoke, hopeful to have some insight about who was on board, but no reply came.

The eerie silence sent a chill down the Twi'lek's spine as her hope grew dim in fear of someone being harmed on board.

She hesitated before setting her mind to the task.

" Ghost , I'm gonna be a little late. Don't wait up for me" She smiled but her heart ached as she won't get home to tuck Jacen into bed.

Someone needed help, and that is something she can never ignore.

"Zo! you better be working on that fire, external comms are down, we're on our own" A tired blue-skinned Togruta sighed, whipping her brow as she fought the Yoke to keep steady on entry out of Hyperspace.

"Nolah, I'm trying it's hard to fix when you're flying so erratically" A voice came over the local comm, sarcasm bled through the thick accent. " Tazi sa'mahr , do not insult my flying or I'll dump you here" Nohal smiled as she bantered with her friend as they made the shakey jolt out of hyperspace.

"You'll do no such thing, jun muchi ruti , as without me your ship will fall apart."There was a smug smile on the Twi'leks face.

Suddenly a long clanking sound bounced and echoed throughout the ship, alarms and bright red lights blinking and droning.

A long groan came from the pilot, followed by a screech as the yoke pulled free of Nolah's hands and the plane took a nosedive.

The last thing the poor girl remembered was a concerned call of her name from somewhere deep in the ship and a crash before darkness crowded around her vision, consuming her consciousness.

When Zoyah came around, her head stung and her arm felt as if it had been crushed, Her mind clouded and thoughts blurred, her eyes shot open in a panic, scanning around the familiar room of med bay in the ship she called home. confused and with very little recollection of the events that lead her here made her head spin and nausea to settle in.

" Numa? " her voice was hoarse and her throat so dry that once she spoke she spluttered into a coughing fit.

instantly her vision was blotted with dark spots and nausea increased, she held her stomach in the hope not to throw up.

She wiped her mouth, alarmed when her hand came away with blood. A new wave of panic washed over her and her steady breathing became labored and body shaking, a numbing sensation flooding through flesh, tingling down her Lekku. Zoyah's mind raced a mile per minute, every bad outcome, interaction, and situation raising up her throat in the form of bile.

Suddenly, there were hands on her upper arms, careful around her bandaged injury on her left shoulder, the touch feather-light, caring, motherly.

The green tinge of skin visible through her blurred limited vision, but then her head was plunged back into darkness as her past swallowed her whole. The only thing to be vocalized through her violent sobs was "Misha, narsu A" Mother please stay before exhaustion wrapped around her and pulled her back into unconsciousness.

Once Hera located the ship, it was easy to assess the damage and what had been done would be pretty easy to repair and it was safe to enter as entry seemed to dampen the flames when it crashed. Granted Hera was far more concerned about those who were on board than how the ship looked.

It had been about 2 standard hours since Hera had patched up the 2 girls found onboard the ship.

A young Togruta of blue skin had been slightly pinned against the dash but wasn't critical, a few broken ribs, cuts, and bruises and what looked to a nasty large burn down one side of her body, but due to the clothing being intact Hear assumed these to be old, just stressed by the crash.

Once Hear knew she was stable and in no further danger, she ventured further in - finding a Twi'lek unconscious and bloody - debris lodged sharply in her shoulder and cuts and bruises across her face and torso, a bang to the head clearly left an impact as blood ran down her Lekku.

"Kikalekki have Mercy" was all she said as she steadied her mind and got to work.

It was about another hour before either of them woke up, The young Twi'lek, who seemed panicked and in a frenzy after trying to talk, slung her into a coughing fit.  Hera tried to calm her mind, with soothing circles on her right arm and soft words upon her lips but the panic took its toll, stealing the girl back into unconsciousness.

Hera pressed a hand against her head, not overly warm , she let out a content sigh as she laid the girl back down in a position that wouldn't cause further pain before leaving to try find something for the girls, some clothes, food, or water, and when she returned with 2 outfits she had found a few ration bars and 2 containers of water she let out a soft smile, The Togruta was awake.

"Here, this will help" A woman held a glass towards her, her mind clouded and struggled to find the words to question her, so she took the glass - glancing around the room first.

She noticed when she came too that her wounds had been tended too and so had Zoyah's, which though gave her some concern also filled her with contentment that they were both safe in some form of the word.

She took a sip, and then down the rest of the glass as the refreshing feel on her hoarse throat soothed some ache.

"W---who are you?"

The older Twi'lek smiled softly, green eyes filled with care. "Hera" she let out a hand for her to shake. "Hera Syndulla"
