Chapter Text

Remus Sanders is today years old and he likes singing and moving fast and the taste of red dirt and his name and learning fun facts.

Like! Fun fact! Remus was one of a pair of brothers who got to suck on a wolfs boobies and fight to the death and build a whole city and that’s cool and that’s why he picked the name as soon as he remembered it, even though all the other sides of Thomas have been agonising over what their names should be for weeks and weeks and weeks.

He thinks the other Creativity should be Romulus so they match but when he told him that – and tried to tell him about the wolf boobies – he’d slammed the door of his room in Remus’ face and said ‘no way!’

That’s another fun fact! The sides have rooms now.

The other sides do. Remus doesn’t. Even though he figured out the name thing first.

Curiosity thinks it’s because Remus doesn’t fit. Thomas doesn’t actually want to use him like he wants the other Creativity. Curiosity says he ‘doesn’t make a substantial part of Thomas’ personality’ and will probably fade away as he grows older.

Emotions was so relieved to hear that he started to glow blue.

Remus pouts. He’s going pull out some super scary nightmares later and make emotions shine all his scaredy colours.

Actually – no time like the present! He reaches into his body and pulls a chunk of it out, begins tearing off other pieces until it starts to look like a shark. Then change his mind and makes it a zombie. Then a zombie shark!

“What are you doing Remus?”

“De!” Remus beams at denial. Or deceit. Or defiance. He can’t decide on a name OR a function, even though Remus thinks they’re all pretty much the same.

He hasn’t picked out a proper body yet either. Instead he cycles through theirs – right now he’s doing his best impression of Curiosity which is the most BOARING shape because Curiosity basically just looks like Thomas.

De crouches down to look at his shark and Remus leans over to steal his glasses, turning them into wiggling snakes.

“Did you know koala bears all have chlamydia.” he asks?

“Gross.” De sticks out his tongue. “Do you wanna come in?”

“Yeah!” Remus bounces up, leaving bits of his body lying on the floor outside De’s room. He must have been waiting for him but why he cant remember. He tries to think of another fun fact to tell him but gets distracted by De’s room.

It’s cool! Like Thomas bedroom but darker. Small blue green flames spring to life around the edges when they walk in.

“Like Hades’ house!” he cries, spinning in circles whilst De grins.

“What’s yours like?” De ask and Remus lets himself keep spinning until he falls to the floor.

“I dint get one.” He tells him, thinking absently about how to spin more- maybe if he crawled inside the dryer?

“What?” De snaps His body shifts, to look like emotions, pulsing red “How come?”

“I’m not goanna exist much more.” Remus tells him. He feels weird and cold like those bodies on Everest. Even though the green flames are still burning and Emotions' body gives off heat when he gets mad. “So it doesn’t matter.”

“But that’s not fair!" De cries and that’s kinda funny because De’s always the one saying life isn’t fair and cheating at monopoly. Except it’s not that funny because De seems really upset now, losing his grip on emotion’s form and shifting into what passes for his own body. It’s smoky and ill formed and it kinda hurts to look at, but coils around Remus and squeezes and that feels. Kinda nice.

“We’ll find your room.” He tells him “But, if you don’t know where to go, you can always come here.”

Remus doesn’t do a lot of forward thinking but. De can keep stuff form Thomas. If Remus stays in his room Tommy might no know about him at all. Might not be able to get rid of him

“Wont that be bad?”

He’s bad. Everyone says so. Adults always start shouting every time he gets to sit at the controls.

“I don’t care.” De growls and coils tighter around him. Remus gives him a little push and helps him put on a proper snake form. The coils are smooth and silky and crushing as De squeezes.

Fun fact:  there are over two hundred types of snakes that are so strong or venomous they could kill a human with one bite.

“You could help me pick a name.” De says, sounding almost shy. “Then it’s a fair trade.”

Remus giggles wetly, running his sticky hands over De’s scales.

Fun fact: Janus Sanders is Remus Sanders' best friend.
