Subaru was despairing he tried everything, asked for help, begged, and was humiliated for it.
Time and time again he was reminded of his worthlessness.
[ No I can't give up there must be something I can do, I can still...still...] Subaru hit rock bottom he knew that he did everything he could.
Wrath started to fill him.
[ These people are supposed to become King? Don't joke around not one of them tried to protect their people. Only trying to get something from it. Even Crush that so-called Military Genius preferred to see Emilia die rather than help. Worthless don't make me laugh. At least I tried to save them while others choose to do nothing.] He was furious his helpless mocked time and time again.
[ There's nothing left to try, this loop is doomed.] Sorrow took place of Wrath he would see Emilia die, Rem and the villager they'll all die again and there's nothing he could do.
So great was his despair and sorrow that it reverberated through an old link.
What people forget is that Spirit contracts are soul-bound.
Such links, if strong enough could perpetuate through death and life again.
A bond from a lifetime and centuries ago stirred.
The [ Divine Dragon ] woke up.

High in the sky at the top of the Pleiades Watchtower, a Dragon lay.
His time stopped, no longer could he think, no longer could sorrow fill him.
Out of duty, he honored the contract forged with the Lion.
Out of friendship, he guarded this tower against those who wish to conquer it and free the evil within.
Still, he slumbered for centuries. A ripple was felt, a frayed bond spurred into life again.
Sorrow, Wrath, Despair, Fear after centuries he felt once again. Yet those feelings did not originate from him.
He gave up Wrath, he did not need to fear, Despair was an old feeling one that withered.
All he had left was sorrow.
From where did those feelings originate and why did they reach him?
His curiosity picked, he used his precognition.
As a Divine Dragon, his sight was unmatched.
[ Impossible, he died 400 years ago this one felt it so strongly ]
400 years ago the bond shared between him and his dear friend was shattered by the latter death.
[ This bond is indeed the one I shared with Flugel] The contract forged with Lugnica was tied loosely to Farsale bloodline; it had no depth like the one he currently felt.
Volcanica felt hope.

Subaru was still sitting on the ground weighed down by despair. Till a strange foreign feeling invaded him.
He felt hope.
[How ridiculous what am I hoping for? Great going Subaru you're getting delusional] he thought derisively.
[ Thou are not delusional my friend]
A voice reverberated in his mind.
" That's it I'm finally insane Hahaha" He cried with tears streaming from his eyes.
[ What plagues thy mind? Why have thou not called this one for help?]
" Help? HELP? don't joke around no one helped me no matter how pleaded no matter what I offered no one helped." Subaru yelled bitterly, thinking that he lost it.
[ To help one friend is only natural. Let me help thou. Why does thou need help? ]
" I'm weak, so weak they all died because of me and they'll die again. The White whale and that damned archbishop of Sloth there's nothing I can do against them !." Subaru yelled, reminded of the hopeless situation he found himself in.
[ The White whale you say? Gluttony creation This one can easily deal with. Did the Witch of sloth surface again to wreak havoc upon the world?]
" There's no Witch of Sloth. Only a crazy guy who calls himself Sloth and worships the Witch of Envy ."
[ This one shall deal with them and make them regret harming this one friend. What else?]
" What else? There's nothing else taking care of these two is impossible anyways " Subaru answered dumbfounded.
[ I'm starting to think that I'm not hallucinating. Ahh still no one would help someone like me.] Subaru lapsed in thought.
[ Thou are not worthless. Still, This one shall once again renew the contract that binds us. Well shall we swear ?]
" Swear? Why not I have nothing to lose anyway. I swear to honor the contract that binds us." Subaru declared still thinking that he was hallucinating.
[ I Volcanica swear to honor the contract that once tied us and shall bind us again.]
[ Wait Volcanica I heard that name before .......wait that can't be!??] Subaru thought in disbelief.
[ Indeed I am the Divine Dragon Volcanica] the voice no Volcanica answered smugly.
" Huuuuuuuuuuuuuh?" Subaru's scream filled the clearing.

After both oaths were pronounced a golden crystal appeared in Subaru's hand. This single piece of jewelry was the irrefutable proof of what ensued.
" A crystal? Is it like Puck's one? Still, a sign of life would be appreciated." Subaru muttered.
" Well let's try ... VOLCANICA COME OUT!!" He yelled, his eyes scrunched in determination.
" Yes? Why did thou call me ?" A voice sprung out from the crystal.
Golden light filled the clearing. From it emerged a tiny dragon.
Subaru stared at the mini dragon. Volcanica stared at his contractor.
Silence ensued till.
" Oi aren't you too small to be a legendary dragon ?!" Subaru exclaimed impulsively.
" This one real body guards the seal as per our contract. This body holds but a silver of my power. My true form tower above all ." the Dragon spoke slowly. Power emanated from his diminutive form.
Subaru could not feel the crushing pressure, protected as he was by the contract.
Had anyone been there to witness this scene they would have been left speechless.
Out of awe and plummeted by the pressure.
" Flugel thou truly did not change a lifetime after and thou are still this fearless. " The dragon spoke fondly reminiscing of a better time.
A time where he traveled the world accompanied by A transcendent Swordsman and a Great sage.
" Flugel? Nope sorry I'm not the tree guy." Subaru exclaimed.
" Tree guy, what are thou talking about? Flugel was the Great sage who saved this world."
The dragon spoke up startled by his friend's sentence.
" That's even worse, there's no way I'm that guy then. I'm sorry but you got it wrong." Subaru slowly shook his head truly sorry thinking that he tricked the one before him.
" This one cannot be deceived thou are indeed Flugel and This one Friend. The bond shared between us do not allow such doubts."
Subaru was looking dubiously at the pocket-sized dragon.
" Aahh fine believe what you want. But can you help me even in this form?" Subaru spoke hope colored his tone.
" Indeed to face the White whale this one shall travel from the tower. It should take this one less than half an hour to reach thou." The dragon spoke deep in thought.
" Sure, I always wanted to be a pokemon trainer," Subaru exclaimed.

In front of the Flugel tree, a shadow appeared.
The White whale once again resurfaced.
A single boy stood in front of the threat, hope fueling him.
Rem was at Crush mansion. Worried by the absence of her hero.
A dragon soared in the air, rejoining his friend in a hurry.
One beat, two-beat, The White whale roared the Divine Dragon entered Flugel crossing.
The battle of Titan started.
And finished just as quickly.
In one breath attack, The Divine Dragon destroyed the white whale.
" Well this one has taken care of Gluttony let's pursue our hunt, my friend." The dragon turned toward his friend.
Subaru was left speechless.
The spectacle before him left in awe but more importantly.
" What did you eat to grow this tall?!!!?? A Lion !??!!" He yelled in shock.
" No, this one contracted them ?"
" What?"
"What?"
The two continued their conversation.
Unaware of the audience watching them.
Crush and her followers watched dumbfounded as the Divine Dragon and the boy she thought to be worthless, interacted like old friends.

Subaru and a now pocket-sized dragon resting on his shoulders.
He was making his way in the forest towards Sloth repair.
In a certain green-clothed merchant carriage.
[ Ah I'm lucky to have found Otto now I can make it !] He thought determinedly. He was truly thankful for the dragon who saved him.
The dragon feeling his contractor thought turned towards him.
Sending reassurance through their bond.
" No need for thanks that's what friend do"
[ Play it cool Subaru don't cry] He thought his eyes wet with tears.
" Thou are still a Sage Candidate upon finishing thy hunt we shall make way to the Watchtower. Thou need to master thy authority." The dragon announced seriously.
" I don't know what it is but I'll trust you!" Subaru spoke while clenching his fist. He chose to trust this Dragon who helped him with no hesitation.
Volcanica looked fondly towards his friend.
Both ignored the Merchant driving the cart. Otto was shaking, the pressure emanating from the miniature dragon proved his identity.
The Divine Dragon was driving in his cart. [ Whyyyyyy what did I do to deserve that.??!!!?] He thought despairingly.
Subaru finally noticed the trembling merchant.
" Don't worry Otto he doesn't bite".
[ Natsuuuukiiiii- san are you crazy??????!] Otto yelled in his mind. Dumbfounded by the sheer gall of this young man.
Volcanica was watching the scene, amused.

Upon arriving near the cave the duo left the merchant behind.
Slowly shadows surrounded them. Sloth's Fingers prepared themselves to fight the intruder.
They were easily discarded by the Dragon.
Calmly they entered Sloth's hideout.
" Welcome Followers of love the ordeal is upon us !" A figure exclaimed.
Writing in a grotesque way the archbishop of Sloth Betelgeuse Romane-Conti greeted the duo.
" Betelgeuse what happened to thou ?" The dragon asked in sorrow.
" You know him? " Subaru turned toward his companion.
" I did once when the witch factor of Sloth did not rule his mind."
" Witch factor? What are you talking about ?" Subaru asked not understanding the terms used by his partner.
" The incarnation of sin. The entity that grants witch their power. This is what this one is referring to." The dragon answered his eyes, never leaving the mad spirit.
" Okay? Can you do something about it? "
" This one can. Forgive me, my friend, still, I wish to save Betelgeuse to honor the friendship we once shared "
" I don't mind. You say that he was driven insane by something out of his control right if you can return his mind it's fine I guess." Subaru announced he was still furious at the archbishop.
Hearing that something is controlling him abated his rage somewhat.
The archbishop, tired from being ignored, chose to attack the boy, his invisible hand diving at high speed.
Only to be stopped by a simple barrier. The dragon readied himself unleashing a barrage of golden flame.
" I thought you wanted to save him not burn him?!!??!" Subaru yelped in shock.
" Purification by fire is a certain method." The dragon responded unbothered by his companion's shock.
From the flame, a dark tar rose the witch gene of sloth was separated from its Host and chose a new one.
The Ignorant Sage candidate.
Betelgeuse Romane-Conti was free from sloth after over one century of possession.
He opened his eyes only to be met by the sight of his master and Volcanica-sama.
Tears of joy filled his eyes from being freed and from seeing his master once again.
Soon after he fell into deep sleep drained by the experience.
Volcanica separated a small fraction of his mana creating a mana crystal to house his friend.
Once again Subaru held a crystal in his hands.
" Why did he disappear in a crystal??! He was a human right?" Subaru asked, shocked.
" Betelgeuse was a Great spirit, holding Sloth for so long drained him. He must slumber to recover his mana." The dragon nodded.
[ Another crystal. Forget Pokemon I am in Jewelpet.] Subaru thought amused by the sudden genre change.
Drained by this long day the duo slowly made their way toward the mansion.
The course of history was forever altered.

The Sage council was panicking. Upon the dragon steel, a new prophecy appeared.
[ I have contacted my Friend Natsuki Subaru; he shall be treated with the respect owed to his station.]
This sentence plunged the council into Panic.
That foreign boy earned the Divine Dragon favor.
Following the Lion King's footsteps, he contracted Volcanica.
This deeply shocked them only to remember that the same boy was beaten an inch from his life and humiliated by this kingdom's knight.
Would the Divine Dragon demand retribution for the treatment the one he called friend suffered? Such thoughts traversed their minds.
What is his station? Was he the new king?
Lugnica no longer possesses a contract with the Divine Dragon as such the boy could command him to turn toward them.
More concerning rumors ran that Natsuki Subaru went to each candidate to request help to defeat Sloth only to be let down horribly.
Uncertainty plagued their mind.

In Lugnica the rumor of the Divine Dragon appearance and the identity of the one accompanying him spread.
That boy had called The Divine Dragon to slay the White whale.
He then made way toward Alram in Frontier territory to slay Sloth.
This tale left many septical and yet the corpse left by the White whale and the Divine Dragon figure was seen by the Capital inhabitant.
" The sage, that boy is like the Sage " one voiced out loud the thought shared by many.
A new legend walked Lugnica.
The rumors of the awful treatment of the new Hero had yet to spread.
In the following days, it would be spread by the servants of each candidate household fearing the Divine Dragon judgment.
This new development would plunge Lugnica into a mass panic. For now, awe and reverence were evoked by this legend in the making.

Crush was panicking, Natsuki Subaru contracted the Divine Dragon Volcanica.
What did it mean for the royal election? Was Natsuki Subaru the new King?
What of her plans to break the contract between Volcanica and Lugnica?
She truly believed that entities like the Dragon God did not care for humans.
Yet the scene of Natsuki Subaru and Volcanica sprung in her mind. These two interacted as old friends would.
The divine dragon looked truly happy bantering with the boy.
The same boy she let down when he requested help to save the woman he loved.
That very same boy possessed the Lion King's quality the same king she so admired.
Upon hearing such news the blue-haired maid hastily left the mansion. Heading towards Roswal L Mathers territory.
" Are you alright Crush-sama?" The cat-eared trap asked his mistress.
" What will happen for now I wonder?"
Her mind was truly a mess.

A certain mauve-haired merchant was panicking despairing she ran damage control and yet it was too late.
The knowledge of the beating Natsuki Subaru received at the hands of her knight was already well known.
And now the knowledge of the meeting she had with him also spread. The way she conned him was known.
She could already imagine the rumors being spread.
The foreign fool tricking the new Sage. The dishonorable fox abuses the King's kindness.
Her reputation was going down the drain. No one would trust a merchant who so easily discarded a contract.
Why did she trick that boy again? Because he was an easy target? Because she wanted the information he possessed without paying the price for it?
As they say, Karma is a bitch.
And now she was reaping the price in full force.

The orange-haired princess was in shock. She sat staring at nothing in particular.
Her mind could not comprehend the current situation.
The pig no Natsuki Subaru contracted the [Divine Dragon].
What in the world happened? The world was for her enjoyment and yet.
Yet she lost.
Natsuki Subaru formed a contract with the Divine Dragon.
Did she lose to HIM?
Priscilla would remain deeply shaken for many days.

After regaining the mansion Subaru was greeted by Rem.
She breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing her hero safe. Only to notice the pressure emanating from the dragon perched on his contractor's shoulder.
She bowed deeply greeting the Divine Dragon.
" It is an honor to welcome you in this mansion Volcanica-sama" she spoke, her voice slightly shaking.
" Rem I'm back! Hey Volcanica that's Rem she's a dear friend" Subaru gestured towards the bowing maid.
The pressure affecting her was instantly lowered.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
" Welcome back Subaru-kun!!" She exclaimed happily.
" I'm back Rem." Subaru smiled happily, glad to have succeeded.
Now he could look forward to the future.
