The Loud Blond Next Door

Summary:

So there outside of the 1-A dorms, Hitoshi Shinsou promised his father that he would in fact never date a loud Blonde. Especially ones called Denki Kaminari.

The thing with promises is you should never make ones you can never keep fully.

Sorry I know this makes it sound like it going to be a ShinKami story but it won't be.

Notes:

Heyo, please forgive the single paragraph that is randomly larger in font size than the rest of the story, i’m unsure of how that happened or how to fix it. If anyone know how to fix it please let me know, would be greatly appreciated xx

Chapter Text

He was officially a part of Class 1-A. After almost a full year of training, he’d gotten into the hero course. His dreams had been crushed when the disaster that was the sports festival happened, defeat had been accepted and life continued. Until Eraserhead approached him with an offer of training and a second chance. From that point on his life began to turn around, training was tough and painful but with every fall he brushed the dust off and picked himself back up. Nothing was going to get in his way. After months of studying hard and training harder with a few hiccups along the way, the day came where he was pulled out of his general studies class to join both hero classes for a joint training session. His second chance had come and he was determined to not let it slip through his fingers. Despite his efforts and determination, it felt as if he wasn't good enough compared to the rest of the students and was ready this time to accept defeat. That thought was immediately shut down by Mr Aizawa informing Hitoshi that while he has a lot to catch up on he is good enough to transfer.

So here he is, outside the UA dorms, bags in hand ready to get settled in and take his next step to become a hero. Before going in Aizawa had said he wanted to have a talk with him about what he had no idea and why he didn’t talk to him back home. Placing his bags on the steps, he sat and waited. The campus was rather quiet, most hero students had taken the opportunity to go home for the holidays. Thankfully for Hitoshi that meant fewer people annoying him on his first day in the dorm. Dealing with class 1-A was not something he wanted to deal with but compared to class B they seemed like the better choice. That Monoma guy was something, his grudge against class 1-A was utterly confusing. To be jealous of the class for being constantly involved with villain attacks and the media coverage that came along with it, was most unusual.

He was drawn out of his thoughts by someone joining him on the steps. He didn’t have to look to tell who it was, so he continued to stare out at the empty campus.

“Do you have anything you’ll need? Your bag is rather small.” Aizawa asked. Shinsou rolled his eyes and laughed.

“Papa already made sure I have everything. You were there.” All he got was a hum in response and no further continuation of the conversation. As much as he loved to sit in silence and enjoy the company, the suspense was killing him. He wanted to get the conversation out the way so he could get inside. The sooner he got inside, the sooner he could introduce himself and hideaway.

“ What do they know about me?” He questioned, preparing himself for what type of questions he would be bombarded with.

“That you’re a former general studies kid, that I trained and helped get transferred into the hero course.” That was it. He knew that being an underground hero helped keep your personal life and identity safe and that Mr Aizawa isn't an open person but to not have told your class about any major parts of your life was next level. He opened his mouth to ask another question when he was interrupted.

“Before you ask, no they don’t know about Hizashi and me either. They’ve never asked so I never told them. You’re welcome to tell them whatever you want as long as you don’t waste your class and study time gossiping. Now, any other questions?” He made the decision then and there that he would not be telling the class anything, no matter how much they questioned him. He shook his head in response, as he got up to stretch his legs.

“ One more thing, Hitoshi. I told you this when you left but I’m telling you again. No loud Blondes. I saw Kaminari flirting with you during the training exercise and as his teacher, I can’t forbid him from it but as your father, I can forbid you from dating him. Am I clear?”

That’s what this was about. He waited outside the dorms to hear him lecture him on the same thing from before he left. He struggled to keep a straight face as he explained it wouldn’t be a problem. He had no plans to make friends, let alone start dating someone.

So there outside of the 1-A dorms, Hitoshi Shinsou promised his father that he would never date a loud Blonde. Especially ones called Denki Kaminari. And with that, he headed into the dorms. Ready to start the next chapter of his schooling.

Despite explaining to the class that he was not here to make friends and had no interest in trying to, Hitoshi was now stuck with one Izuku Midoriya in his dorm ‘helping’ him unpack. The rambling boy seemed to not be able to take no for an answer when offering to help unpack and set up his dorm. Originally agreed to Midorya showing him which room was his since he left Aizawa outside and introduced himself on his own, forgetting that he hadn't been told which room was his. Stubborn and not wanting to waste any more time, he let Midoriya show him the way up. That was where they were supposed to part ways, but the boy had started rambling about his neighbours and he was unable to find an opening to cut him off.

Through him, he learnt that the room next to him was occupied by one Bakugou Katsuki. And he got an apology for Bakugou's rude and loud outbursts in advance. The other two rooms were occupied by Kirishima and Shouji. Kirishima he’d already met during the training exercise, he had a bright and friendly personality that made Hitoshi make a mental note to avoid being dragged into conversations and social gatherings. According to Midoriya, it had happened with Bakugou, and the two of them were surprisingly best of friends. He however still had luck on his side as Kirishima had gone home for the holidays. Meaning dealing with him wouldn't begin until the start of the school year. Shouji on the other hand wouldn’t be a problem at all, he tended to keep to himself and was the quietest out of everyone on the boys' side of the floor.

By the time he’d finished unpacking, his guest had moved on from his neighbours to discuss the chores system the dorm had in place. A handful of students took turns making dinner while the rest rotated between dishes. Not wanting to be one of the people cooking for 20+ people, Hitoshi volunteered himself to dish duty. The dorms used to have shared showers and bathrooms until daily arguments broke out about hair products and body washes being used and moved around. After the second week of arguments breaking out daily, renovations were done and now each dorm room had a private bathroom. This of course Hitoshi already knew, having to listen to his dad complain about it for weeks every night at dinner. He pretended to be surprised when told the final straw was when Bakugou threatened to blow up the Bathroom and both Sero and Kaminari for purposely rearranging everything in the cupboards, purely for the intent of annoying him. The rest of the Chores were managed by Iida and Yaoyorozu, meaning he would be added into the rotation at a later date. Not that it bothered Hitoshi at all, in all honestly he was surprised that they were smart and mature enough to have a system, either that or that had been more arguments and fights that led to its existence. The second was more likely.

Day turned into night. Dinner was announced through a series of shouts and yells as Bakugou banged on everyone’s door, all while claiming that everyone would starve without him. The meal itself was surprisingly good, the company not so much. While collecting his bowl, he tried to slip past midoriya and sit on his own. His plan was working so well until the seat next to him was taken up by Kaminari, who in turn was followed by Ashido, Sero and Bakugou. The latter was obviously forced over to sit at the table, making his annoyance known by the way he slammed his bowl down on the table. It started out quiet with them all focusing on their meals in sweet sweet silence. That was until Kaminari broke it. Throwing question after question at him. All shot down with as minimal words as possible.

“Did you finish unpacking?”

“Yes”

“Are you happy to finally be in the hero course?”

“Yes”

“Do you think you’ll miss being away from home?”

“No” The moment it slipped out his mouth, he knew it was the wrong answer. Three pairs of shocked eyes stared straight at him, minds scrambling to figure out their thoughts on the response. Even a pair of red eyes had found their way from glaring at the table to analysing him. It felt like an eternity before the awkward silence was broken by Kaminari laughing about how he was glad to be away from his siblings at first, Ashido and Sero quick to laugh along while agreeing. Conversation turned into what they loved about the dorm life now, the three easily forgetting about Hitoshi. Desperate to leave the table before they remembered him, he shovelled down his food and excused himself to go wash up. All the while the pair of deep red eyes continued to watch him, as if waiting for something else to happen.

It was his first day in the dorm and he’d already been annoyed into a friendship with Midoriya, was close to revealing personal information, not comfortable sharing and managed to attract the unwanted staring of Bakugou. Way to go Hitoshi. Sleep was definitely not coming tonight, not when his mind had decided that overthink dinner was more important.
