Summary:

Alberu reminiscences about Cale's disguised as a priest, much to Cale's annoyance.

Work Text:

“Remember how you decided to go to the Whipper Kingdom after you heard about the alchemy fire?”

Cale eyed the crown prince with suspicion. He doesn’t even hide his sigh in front of the future king. There he goes again, asking something that happened long in the past. He must be up to request something weird again.

“How about you turn back into a priest?”

“What?”

Alberu let out a snicker much to Cale’s scoff.

“How about you, turn back into your priest form?”

“Why should I?”

“I want to see it again.”

“You’ve seen it before.”

“Well yes. That’s why I want to see it ‘again’.”

Cale let out another sigh after the emphasis on the word ‘again’. See? Really, what’s wrong with this prince? Alberu starts to do some reminiscing this morning and it doesn’t sit right with Cale. Especially this request he made. It’s not as if the other previous request is better either. All of it was just so annoying to Cale that he’ll probably have a hard time choosing between being near Alberu or looking at Ron’s benign smile when he brought over a glass of lemonade.

He shouldn’t have come to Alberu’s office if things going to be like this.

“Then why should I?”

“Remind me how deceiving you look.”

“You say I’m scamming people?”

“You go around the continent doing exactly that.”

Well, he’s not wrong. But it isn’t a scam in a bad way since it’s all contributing to Cale’s peaceful daily life. Isn’t in a 'bad' way for HIMSELF, actually.

“He is not scamming! My human is a good person!”

Raon exclaimed when he approaches them together with On and Hong. The little dragon happily flew next to Cale before landing on the soft sofa. He changed Cale’s hair color to silverish white and Cale’s eye color to sky blue, before puffing his chest with pride.

“See? He’s weak but he’s a good person.”

Cale sighed for the unknown time today. He doesn’t give a care about how charming his hair glistens when the light touches it, or how his blue eyes somehow rivaling the beauty of the sky.

Even with the beautiful sight of the priest-like Cale Henituse in front of him, Alberu let out his laugh while the cats snicker at how Cale looks. They all ignore Raon who’s puffing his chest like a toddler who managed to finish his lego tower.

“That is a scam.”

“A scam!”

“See? Even the cats agree with me.”

The Henituse family firstborn rolled his eyes.

“Change it back, Raon.”

The little dragon visibly sulks a little before changing back Cale’s hair and eye color to normal. Somehow it is calming to see the red color back.

“Now go back to play.”

“We’re hungry.”

“The food will come later.”

Raon and the children go back to play in the corner. Cale immediately sighs after they concentrate on playing.

“There you have it.”

“As expected of the treasure of our kingdom, so priest-like you managed to deceive a kingdom.”

“Please, I am not worthy of your praise, Your Highness, the star of Roan Kingdom, the sun of the-”

“Stop it.”

Cale smirked when Alberu sighed. He still hates it when Cale excessively compliments him. They really do forget anything about kingdom manners and act like typical seniors and juniors. The crown prince finally sat next to Cale, leaning on the comfy sofa of his office. He shrugged while remembering how priest Cale looks like.

“Still, I think you’re better with red hair.”

“You waste your time earlier then.”

“Not really.”

There’s a short pause, an awkward one because Cale has another bad feeling about this.

“How about that time when you shrunk?”

Again, Cale rolled his eyes. This needs to be stopped or else.

“Maybe you can change into-”

This time, Cale sealed Alberu’s lips with a kiss, enough to stop the crown prince’s next absurd request. He let go after some seconds, leaving frozen Alberu sprinkled with strawberry dust on his cheeks.

“No more reminiscing. Bear with that.”

Alberu throws his glance at Cale. His smirk somehow looks annoying.

“You didn’t think that’s enough, right?”

Of course, Cale knew.

But no. Not now when they're in Alberu's office with children watching. Cale sends a gaze back at Alberu, using the same annoying smirk as him.

“You can get the rest later, Your Highness.”
