Chapter Text
Harry startled awake to rapping on his cupboard door. “Boy! Wake up, breakfast is late!” Aunt Petunia shrieked. Harry groggily pulled himself out of bed, wincing as he pushed himself up with his injured arm. Uncle Vernon had punished him for not completing his long list of chores a couple days ago.
He pushed the door open and limped to the kitchen. Dudley’s and his friends still enjoyed chasing after to him and using him as a punching bag even though they were fifteen now, not eleven. Harry simply didn’t have the energy or the body strength to fight back.
He pulled the bacon out of the fridge. Harry actually enjoyed cooking, just not for his relatives. Aunt Petunia was very picky and didn’t eat if it wasn’t perfect, Dudley ate around three people serving and Uncle Vernon always looked for a reason to punish him.
Harry himself was very malnourished and had to steal food from the bins occasionally. It was good that Aunt Petunia mainly just picked at her plate and left a lot uneaten. He always grew skinny in the summer holidays and had to work to put some of the weight back in when he got to Hogwarts. This time he was going back into fifth year. He had watched Cedric die and Voldemort be resurrected, and yet Dumbledore had still send him back to the muggles he knew were abusive. Harry hated Dumbledore ever since he realised he knew Sirius was innocent all along but still let him go to azkaban and left Harry with magic-hating abusers. He knew Dumbledore was grooming him to be the perfect self-sacrificing martyr for the ‘light’.
Harry himself was neutral in the war as he just didn’t care anymore. He didn’t agree with the muggle hating ‘dark’ but also didn’t agree with manipulative old men that acted “for the greater good”. He just wanted to live normally without wondering if he will make it past seventeen.
“BOY! You are burning the bacon!” Uncle Vernon roared as Harry braced himself...
