At first Pattie couldn’t believe her eyes. Sure she’d known that George and Ringo were best friends, but now that she’d seen them kissing, everything made perfect sense. She wasn’t even particularly hurt. She loved George with all her being but she loved Richie, too. She silently closed the studio door and made her way to the kitchen. Pattie put the kettle on and before it started to boil, George and Ringo tumbled in like two playful puppies.
“Cup of tea, boys?”
“Yes, my dearest, we’d both love some tea.” George grabbed her hand and pulled Pattie in for a kiss.
Pattie laughed a little self consciously. This new found realization would take some getting used to.
All you need is love, she reminded herself and as she served Ringo his tea, she couldn’t help but reach out and ruffle his hair with her fingers.
“Should I call Maureen and have her come for dinner?”
Ringo beamed at her, his bright blue eyes twinkled with happiness. “That would be perfect!”
George and Ringo shared a secret smile and Pattie pretended not to notice they were holding hands under the table.
Pattie left the room to call Maureen. Now that she knew the truth she realized at last how she could make her husband happy. After all, wasn’t that what marriage was all about?
