Chapter Text
"Gar, stop it!"
A bittersweet expression was left on Raven's face as she watched the two lovebirds in front of her. The boy was tickling the girl's sides as she had a fit of laughter.
Garfield and Terra; the new couple of the group.
Raven would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't jealous. I mean, it's not like she'd been close with Garfield for years all to have her spot stripped from her by a girl he hardly even knew. Yes, she was finally admitting to herself that she'd grown attached to the goofy boy.
"Hey, I like your top!" Terra complimented as she and Garfield entered the bookstore.
Raven was quickly pulled from her thoughts as the other girl came into view. Her long, blonde hair swayed back and forth as she approached the counter. Raven's blue eyes met Terra's, and she admitted defeat.
Terra was absolutely beautiful, and Raven could never compete with the other girl.
"Thank you," Raven meekly responded and tucked her short strand of hair behind her ear.
Terra smiled widely at the other girl before a pale freckled arm was thrown around her shoulder. "Hey Rae, we're going to see a movie, you wanna come?" Garfield questioned. "There's totally room on my moped."
Raven met both of their gazes and shyly looked away. "It's fine, you two go ahead. I'm going to be closing up here soon."
"Aw," Garfield said with a disappointed expression. "Well, maybe next time."
The two of them waved goodbye before they exited the store, leaving Raven in her solitude.
Raven let out a long, drawn out sigh as she walked across the ledge that stretched out over the cliff. Above her was a bright full moon, and below her was the deep abyss of the ocean. Kept inside was the unknown. Her lips twitched the slightest as she smiled at the sight of the moon's reflection dancing along the rippling water.
Walking was usually the best method in easing her mind, and the sound of the ocean usually calmed her anyway.
Her eyes landed on the dark blue waves crashing against the rocks. She inched closer to the rope railing and placed her hands on the metal pole that held it up, using it to steady herself. A few huffs of breath escaped her lips as she took a break. Perhaps she had pushed herself a little harder than usual.
As she thought about today's events, she couldn't help but feel sorrow. Her lower lip slowly began to tremble as she fought back tears.
"It's okay, Raven," she whispered to herself in a reassuring tone. However, the more she tried to stop, the easier they came steadily flowing down her cheeks. No, it was not okay. Her heart was shattered. The only boy she'd ever grown close to was gone, swept away by another girl.
While she tried to contain her emotions, the faint sound of a voice became audible. Someone was singing.
"O broken hearted one, your soul has grown weary..."
Raven warily turned her head to study her surroundings, trying to find the source.
"Have you turned to the ripping tides to engulf your lonely tears?"
As the voice got louder, she realized that the voice held a masculine tone, so it had to belong to a boy.
"Ease away all the hurt and pain that you've carried through the years..."
When she couldn't see anyone around her, she hesitantly leaned over the rope railing to look downward.
"But if given the chance, would you forget the past?"
Her eyes widened when she spotted a male figure in the water below, singing to her. From her height, she could only make out vibrant green eyes shining up at her.
"You and I can start all over..."
Before Raven could speak, the rope holding her steady gave out, and she was plummeting to the dark waters below. The boy who was singing now held his arms out wide, as if he were planning to catch her. This is when an alarm went off in her head.
This was a trap—
"We can love again, my dear..."
—and she was caught.
Once she hit the freezing water and sank below the surface, Raven met the deceitful gaze of the boy who was swiftly inching closer to her.
Her vision slowly began to fade as she sank lower and lower into the icy saltwater, and she could just barely feel a set of sharp nails clawing at her skin as she was reluctantly took into strong arms. It didn't take long for her struggles to cease as she felt herself growing weaker by the second. Every inch of her body felt paralyzed.
The last thing Raven remembered before blacking out was the immense warmth of the stranger's lips on her numb ones.
