Chapter Text
Time couldn’t pass any slower.
It was the last 5 minutes of his last period in school but every second of it passing felt like an hour for Peter, (I mean honestly why couldn't the bell just ring already?) and no, it's not because the class is boring or anything like that. (although he was in physics and he basically knew everything his teacher was saying already, but that’s besides the point.)
It’s because it’s Wednesday, and Wednesdays are lab days with Tony. so excuse him for being on the edge of his seat.
Ever since the Vulture incident Peter and Tony were getting closer and closer every day. They talked to each other more, ate dinner with May and Pepper at the tower, upgraded/fixed his suit together, Tony would even let Peter help with his Iron Man suits and some of the gadgets for Avengers.
Although Tony was a little strict over his alter ego and overprotective whenever he has a “Big” fight, (aka freaking out on him,) (not that he was complaining about it or anything, he was happy that Tony was looking after him, and to be fair he might have had hid some injuries from the man before, even though he was really fine and they healed in like, a day at most.) he knew that the man cared about him and wanted nothing but the best for Peter.
So one thing led to another and boom! His “internship” wasn't fake anymore.
Yes, they used it as a cover story for spider related stuff but then, after a month of spending time in the lab to come up with a formula to dissolve his webs, (cause, y’know, it may come in handy at some point.) Tony thought that why not make his internship real since he was already learning new things (and that's the only reason Tony suggested, not that he loved having the kid around in the lab or anything.) and of course Peter accepted with open arms.
Which leads us to now. 8 months of going to the internship every Wednesday and the reason why Peter can't sit still.
The bell finally rang, Peter storms out of the class, bits Ned and MJ a goodbye, gets to his locker, grabs his things and makes his way out of the school. He only stops to locate Happy's car and when he does he runs to it and opens the door.
“Hi Happy.” he greets cheerfully, getting into the car.
“Someone’s excited.” Happy said, looking at Peter from the rear view mirror.
“Yeah, I’ve got this idea that I want to try out with Mr. Stark and I can't wait.”
Happy nodded his head in response muttering something that sounded like nerd before starting the car.
The ride to the tower was long due to New York's traffic. So Peter just fished out his phone and scrolled through social media the entire ride.
After 40 minutes or so, Happy announced their arrival. Peter thanked him, then grabbed his bag and got out of the car, heading towards the tower.
“Hello Peter, welcome back.” FRIDAY greeted him when he entered the private elevator.
“Thanks FRI. Is Mr. stark in the lab?”
“No, he is currently in the lounge room at the compound. Would you like me to announce your arrival?”
“Nah, I like it when I barge in and scare him.” Peter answered.
The doors of the elevator opened and he walked out, heading to the kitchen which was attached to the common room.
“Mr. Stark, you can't believe what happened today.” he started as soon as he was at a range that could be heard, entering the kitchen and making his way to the fridge to grab something to eat since Tony kept left overs and snacks for Peter ever since he started coming to the tower.(cause, y’know, fast metabolism and all.)
“We had chemistry today right? and today's experiment had something to do with dry ice and water and some other stuff that I don't remember cause an idea popped in my head and I started to calculate and survey the idea to see if it’s possible and guess what? It IS! so I was so excited and couldn't wait to show it to you-” he grabbed a leftover pizza and started his way to the living room while talking a mile a minute. (and eating.)
“-and it sucked cause time just wouldn't pass and I still had two more classes until the school was over and then Flash somehow managed to explode his work which I honestly have no idea how is that even possible, nothing too serious though but that's not important so anyway moving on to my idea which is, drum roll please, what if we come up with a formula that will harden itself and be kind of indestructible so when-” Peter couldn't finish his sentence as he entered the common room and saw the sight in front of him.
Oh no, he totally forgot that today was the day.
The bite he was eating caught in his throat and he started choking when he saw the “rogue” Avengers standing in the room with Tony and it seemed like he walked in on their conversation cause everyone in the room was staring at him.
“Jesus kid,” Tony said, making his way to Peter and patting his back. “You alright?”
Peter nodded his head, swallowing hard before answering in a hoarse voice. “Yeah, I'm good.”
“When did you come?” Tony asked.
“Just now.”
“Why didn't FRIDAY tell me?”
“I asked her not to,” Tony gave him a look that said go on “I like it when you get scared and say how I ruined your time of peace.” Peter used air quotes at that, smirking.
“You little- '' Tony was cut off with another voice.
“Uhh Tones,” the pair turned their head to face Steve Rogers. “Who’s this?”
“Oh right, my bad,” Tony said while putting his hand on Peter's shoulder. “Guys, meet Peter Parker, my personal intern.”
Everyone's eyebrows shot up in surprise while Peter just waved at them shyly. Blushing a little.(yes, he had met them before, fought them to be exact. but that was Spider-Man. not Peter Parker.)
“You have an intern?” black widow asked.
“Which is a teenager.” Hawkeye smirked.
“Uhh yeah.'' Tony answered, annoyed. “Plus, the kid's a genius, even I can't keep up with him sometimes.”
Peter felt heat rush to his cheeks at Tony's words. “Mr. Stark,” he whined, embarrassed.
“What? It's the truth, you underestimate yourself.”
“Why do you hate me?” he pouted, feeling miserable.
“I don't hate you, you're my favourite intern.”
“I’m your only intern, and please stop embarrassing said intern in front of THE Avengers.”
Tony only smiled at him satisfied and Peter dropped his head in defeat. (he could hear the others chuckling.)
“Where are you from son?” Captain America asked Peter and before he could even think he heard himself answer “Queens.”
A strong sense of Deja vu hit him as he realized what just happened.
He wasn't ready for the Avengers to find out who he is, not yet at least.
But by some miracle Captain America didn't seem to notice as he said “Brooklyn.'' and offered his hand for Peter to shake, which he accepted happily.
But no he couldn't just leave it at that. and like the idiot he was, the words just flew out of his mouth. “Yeah, you said that before.”
If Cap didn't notice before, he sure did now as he squinted his eyes, analyzing him before asking, "And when have I done that?"
He could feel everyone's eyes on him again, and he could feel Mr. Stark fighting the urge to face palm. Why couldn't he just shut his mouth?
Peter knew if he didn’t say something now, this situation would get more intense. So, he quickly explained.
“We studied ww2 in history and our teacher showed us a documentary which you were in, explaining what was it like back then and how you were "just a kid from Brooklyn" before becoming captain America and stuff.” (Which wasn’t entirely a lie the only difference is that Peter had zoned out through the whole lesson due to the lack of sleep from the night prior in patrol and wasn't paying any attention to it.)
The tension between them disappeared as captain Rogers huffed out a laugh, and Peter let out the breath he didn't know he was holding. good, he said to himself, he bought the story.
"I can't believe they use that to teach." Cap said.
"You should see the PSA's." Peter grinned. (he could see the others holding back laughter.)
"Oh god." Cap groaned. "they still use those?!" something about how everyone were acting told Peter that the avengers had something to do with the PSA's.
"Oh yeah totally, especially the detention one."
"Ok, I like this kid." Hawkeye said at the same time the Winter soldiers asked "You did PSA's!?" Cap nodded, giving up on fighting back.
"Hey, it's your own fault for losing the bet. don't give us that look." The falcon reminded, chuckling.
“Ok, hate to ruin the moment," Tony spoke, still grinning. "But we have work to do. Pete,” Peter turned his head yet again to face the man. “Why don't you go to the lab and start your work without me. I’ll be there in a minute or two.”
“Yeah, alright.” he nodded, then turned to the others and waved “bye, it was nice meeting you all.”
And with that he started his way to the elevator.
-----------------
Peter was working on his web shooters when Mr. Stark entered the lab.
“Sorry I made you wait, that took longer than I expected.” Tony apologized, making his way to where Peter was tinkering.
“It's ok, don't worry about it. I know how busy you’ve been lately.” Peter reassured, smiling at his mentor. There was a moment of silence before he continued, “Mr. Stark I am so sorry for walking in like that, I totally forgot that today was the day the others would move back otherwise I would come straight to the lab.”
“Don't stress about it,” Tony brushed it off. “It's ok, I was planning on introducing you to them anyway. I'm not mad or anything.”
“You're not?”
“No, of course not.” he smiled at him. “But I'm not so sure about the other things that you did.” Peter winced at the memory.
“Yeah about that,” he took a deep breath before continuing “sorry..? But I fixed it and they didn't find out.. right?” he asked nervously.
Tony shook his head and sighed before answering, “No underoos, they didn't.”
Peter's body visibly relaxed. But then a question popped in hi head.
“Should I like.., tell them that I’m spider man or…” he trailed off, waiting for his mentor to answer.
“I mean, if you want to yeah, you can tell them. but if you don't that's okay. I mean it's not like you have too and I'm not gonna just tell them, it's your secret to tell. not mine.” Tony shrugged, understanding evident in his voice.
Peter smiled at his mentor, a warm feeling blooming in his chest. “Thank you, Mr. Stark.”
Tony grabbed his shoulder and patted his back, smiling at Peter before clapping his hands.
“Now, tell me about this idea of yours you were talking about.”
