Chapter Text
DJ hated a hangover and every time he made a promise to himself that he would never drink that much again, but of course it was always a promise made to the wind.
His head was popping and his stomach was shaking, but luckily even though they were aboard the tour bus they were still stationary, as he wasn't ready for any kind of swing yet. He had drunk a lot the night before and remembers little or nothing of what happened.
He remembers that alcohol flowed freely, that Nikki was the only sane one, drinking only his coke. Tommy who was drunkest of all, so much so that he started doing a real lap dance for Nikki, who didn't know if he should laugh, get excited or get mad at his drummer but it was fun to see him in action.
And then there was that blond boy, who he flirted with, even though he wasn't the blond boy he wanted, even if it wasn't James.
Slowly DJ goes into the kitchen of the bus, if a microwave, a small refrigerator and a few other things, inside a hole, at the end of the tour bus was the kitchen then so be it, but DJ had other ideas of what to call it, certainly not kitchen, but by now they were all used to the lifestyle in tour.
As he passed through the corridor he saw Nikki and Tommy cuddling in the sofa, Tommy was resting his head on Nikki's lap and seemed not feeling too well and the bass player was stroking his hair and talking softly to him.
Nothing new there, but it always made DJ smile, even if he was a little jealous for what the two had, because he too would have liked to be like that with his beautiful singer.
He sighed a little in frustration as he passed the two lovers, exchanging a hello with Nikki, but saw that Tommy had fallen asleep so he went on his way, leaving them alone.
Arrived in the kitchen, there was James who was preparing some coffee and DJ could not help but smile widely at the beautiful sight in front of him, but something was wrong with the singer, he seemed sad and when he noticed the presence of the guitarist he tried to smile but without success and DJhe could see that his eyes were red as if he had been crying.
"Everything is fine?" he asked worriedly, he had never seen James cry.
"Yes" James replied, but DJ could understand that he wasn't, he was weak and forced but just as he was about to say something Nikki arrived.
"Good morning, I'm glad I don't have to feel the disgust of the annoying hangover symptoms anymore, you all look like zombies" said the bass player with a chuckle. "Mostly DJ, you must have had a very fun night."
"I don't remember much actually" had only vague images of a beautiful body beneath his.
"Maybe if I didn't drink so much," James snapped, DJ is speechless, he doesn't know what to say or do, he has never seen James like this.
"Everything is fine?" Nikki was worried now, seeing the ever-quiet James that way.
"Stop asking" James was furious and he couldn't stay inside that bus anymore, he went out without saying anything else.
"What did you do to him?" Nikki asked with a stern look at DJ.
"Nothing, because I should have hurt him" how he could hurt the man he loved more than anything else.
"Last night you were ..." Nikki stopped abruptly, rubbing his forehead.
"We were what?" DJ asked, starting to get frustrated with the situation.
"I hope you didn't do what I think you did because if you did and you don't remember then I understand James's anger."
"What should I ... fuck" green eyes that look at him with passion, as entered him.
He was not an ordinary boy but he was James, how he could and above all what he said or did to hurt his singer in that way.
"I think I did what you think I did," DJ said with his head down.
"Well, Ashba fix it now. It's really time for you and Tommy to calm down with drinking if you don't want to do any more damage." Nikki's tone gave no room for any protest. DJ had to fix things.
Honestly DJ didn't know where to start, did he have to wait for James to come back after he calmed down or did he have to go find him and talk to him?
"I don't know what to do," he said faintly more to himself.
"Don't let it go for too long, looking for it is bestit's something Tommy and I have learned very well." Nikki understood the doubts that beset the guitarist.
Sure Nikki had a lot more experience than him, he really went through hell both personally and with Tommy, he knew well how to deal with it but it wasn't easy for DJ.
"I'm going to find him." DJ sighed heavily, afraid he might not be able to fix things.
"Go, everything will be fine," the bass player reassured him.
It wasn't hard to find. Near the bus park there was a small path that went through a grove, at the end of it there was a small lake. Sitting on the bank was James throwing stones into the water.
"My grandfather always told me not to throw stones in the water because it scares the fish" DJ wanted to lighten the situation but with little success.
"If you came here to ask me again if I'm okay you can go Daren" James was really mad that he called DJ by his full name.
"Listen James please, whatever I said or did was not my intention."
"I understood this, now you can go and drink yourself into oblivion and take whatever else."
"I don't remember what I said or did wrong, I ..." DJ pauses to take a deep breath "I remember flirting with someone and I vaguely remember being with someone but not you, I thought you would never ..."
"Instead I do but after you had fun you chased me away like a stupid little groupie." James could no longer restrain himself and was crying.
The guy he loved more than anything else had treated him like a cheap whore.
"I'm sorry I don't know what to say except that it was the alcohol that spoke" DJ's heart was shattered at seeing James like that.
"I knew you were drunk but I didn't imagine that much, I was a fool to think you wanted me that way." James sighed sadly.
"Yes, James I have wanted it for so long but now I've ruined everything, believe me I would never have hurt you if I realized it was you" now DJ was crying too.
"You hurt me DJ, but I'm so in love with you that ..." James stop unable to continue.
"I'm in love with you too, James and I feel so bad for doing this to you."
"Prove it to me," James whispered.
"I will" DJ looked James in his eyes trying to convey the sincerity. "I'll do whatever it takes," he added then wiping the tears from his singer's face.
"Promise not to drink that much anymore" James asks shyly and trembling slightly.
"I promise," DJ whispered, stroking James's face.
He was more than sure he wanted to keep his promise.
