Work Text:
Jayce tripped over scraps of metal, searching for Viktor. He was here, and the man knew it. Maybe he’d take him back. Maybe it was worth it.
“Councilor Talis” A robotic voice sounded through the alleyway. Jayce jumped at turned with his weapon at hand.
“Relax.” Said the voice, a familiar yet distorted slavic accent gracing it’s words. Jayce reached out, wanting to touch the other, yearning for what he could never have. He wanted to scream his emotions. The voice- Viktor- stepped out from the shadows, his bright glowing eyes illuminating the alley. Jayce looked on in horror as he saw what viktor’s body had become. He was now taller than Jayce, stronger than Jayce, nothing he was before.
“What… have you done to yourself?” He almost choked out.
“Wouldn’t you like to know, Man of Progress?”
—
“I love you, I love you. That’s what I wanted to say. I love you, I always have, I never should’ve-“
“You’re a bit late for that, Councilor. Don’t you think?” Viktor let the words escape his mouth coldly beneath his mask. He could feel his breath against his own lips, he felt his lie freezing him.
Viktor watched Jayce turn away. He grabbed his arm.
—
Viktor took off his helmet for Jayce. He would allow Jayce to see him vulnerable for one last time, he could spare him this. Jayce looked shocked. He searched for even a bit of the tender way Viktor looked at him before. Before all this. Before they parted ways. There was nothing. Viktor seemed devoid of any emotion, even negative. He stood and stared blankly.
Was Viktor not satisfied? With him? Of course he wasn’t. He never was, that being the reason they halted their work together; he never gave up when it was time to reconsider the morality of anything they were doing.
Viktor stepped forward and held Jayce’s shoulder, reminiscent of how Jayce would pepper light subtle touches on Viktor’s body as they worked. It was almost nostalgic.
“Kiss me.” Viktor said, the distortion his helmet gave his voice no longer present. His raw voice was just as beautiful to Jayce, even if more monotone. Jayce kissed him. He kissed Viktor with all he had in him, and Viktor kissed him back. He wrapped his arms around Viktor’s waist before-
A sharp pain shot into Jayce’s ribcage.
