Aslan Still Calls

Summary:

A working monologue and musings of Narnia and her kings and queens. Introspection and thoughts about how much these children went through.

My sister strikes again, invoking her inner poet this time with these. Hope you enjoy them. I sure did.

Chapter 1: Wolfsbane

Chapter Text

High King Peter the Magnificent, Emperor of the Lone Islands, Lord of Cair Paravel, and Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion.

How many cuts and bruises has this boy put bandages and band-aids on, how many before he led his baby brother into a real-life battle and nearly lost him?

Without Lu’s cordial that brought his brother back, how much guilt would reside on Magnificent's shoulders?

How many fights did he have with Susan before ruling in unity and trust for fifteen years, along with Edmund and Lucy? Is it strange to be young and grown-up at the same time?

Oh, High King, how different it was to come back to a world where you have no choices any longer, where you have no authority and your word and bravery mean nothing. High King Peter to Teenage Peter.

Tell me, how disappointed were you? How many choices had this boy made of wars that involved the Lion, centaurs, fauns, knights, and their enemies — only to come back to a very different story. Still a war, but different. In one, he was on the front lines, and in the other he could do nothing.

Tell me, Peter, how difficult it was to become a child again when you have a Lion’s Soul and the sound of His roar ringing in your ears. Sir Peter Wolf’s-Bane, how often do you want to go back to the man you were — worthy of Aslan’s titles.
