leave him alone, i know what i’m doing

Summary:

Everyone is trying to get Sebastian drunk, but luckily Kimi is here to save him from these vultures.

Notes:

This is for my girl, EgaoSaranghae. Happy birthday, sweetie! 🥳

After Kimi told this story during his retirement party…

“The first time they met they went out to a bar and the guys around them were trying to get him drunk, and kimi was taking the drinks for sebastian; he kind of was acting like a bigger brother, put his arm around him, and that was kind of the start of a really great relationship.”

…this just begged to be written, don’t you think? I guess it’s set somewhere in 2006.

As always, special thanks to the bestie fanatic4f1! She’s the best cheerleader a writer can ask for 😍

Enjoy! 💕

Chapter Text

How it starts

Don’t get him wrong, Kimi is enjoying seeing Sebastian all flustered and tipsy.

Maybe a little too much.

The boy is trying hard to keep up, clearly wanting to fit in and seem tough like the rest of them, but it’s hopeless, really. Sebastian’s face is covered in red blotches, his fist occasionally rubbing in his eyes as they become more and more glassy with every drink he gets offered.

There are three beers and a vodka still waiting for him, the kid shaking his head and putting on a brave face as he starts on yet another glass, his hand trembling a bit when he brings it to his lips. Kimi knows that Seb is not going to be the one giving up, not ready to back down from the challenge they keep throwing at him. He’d rather throw up and pass the fuck out than admit defeat.

Stubborn idiot.

Kimi can only imagine what the future will hold for Sebastian with an attitude like that.

He’s come to know Seb as a driver who’s very talented and focused on what he’s doing, always wanting to strive to be the best version of himself when it comes to racing. Plus he’s very eager. Kimi caught him with his little notebooks more than once, scribbling down every piece of information he could get, his tongue between his teeth, pointing upwards over his full top lip.

The kid seeks him out with every race weekend, so happy to be in Kimi’s company. Sebastian makes him feel normal, like any other guy, and Kimi likes that. He likes that Seb is so uniquely his own person. Frankly, he never met someone as authentic as Seb, especially not in the racing world.

Of course, he’s easy on the eyes as well.

Amused, Kimi watches Sebastian’s face after he downs a glass of beer in one go. He looks almost sick with it, though he knows how to hide it well with a smile on his face. To a trained drinker like Kimi, it’s obvious that Sebastian isn’t used to drinking this much alcohol. At all. He can see it in Seb’s flushed cheeks, his drowsy eyes and how he’s having trouble standing up straight.

Sebastian’s hips are swaying slightly every now and then, wobbling on his feet, and every time it happens, Kimi reaches out to steady him. It doesn’t go unnoticed how Seb shivers whenever Kimi touches his waist, squeezing the fleshy parts there before he lets go.

It’s when Jenson and Mark try to make him drink the hard liquor, that Kimi decides to step in and protect Sebastian from them, but mostly from his competitive self. Sebastian clearly doesn’t know when it’s time to stop and Jenson and Mark know that all too well, laughing like hyenas when Seb wrinkles his nose - adorably Kimi must admit - as he sniffs the whiskey he got handed.

Kimi throws an arm around Sebastian’s shoulder, crowding in close as he snatches the drink from Seb’s hand. An annoyed look crosses over Seb’s face, the corners of his mouth pulling down, watching as Kimi gulps the whole thing at once.

Damn, those fuckers. They gave Seb the hardest kind of whiskey there is, even Kimi has trouble digesting it. Kimi pulls a face, his brows furrowing together as the alcohol burns in his throat and esophagus. It’s a sensation Kimi hasn’t felt in a very long time.

He shoots a look at Jenson and Mark that says ”really?”. They are watching him with open mouths, clearly impressed by the way Kimi handled that drink. Jenson’s trademark toothy grin is back in no time at all though, whispering something to Mark, but Kimi can’t be bothered. He turns his attention back to Seb, who’s looking at him with something like awe in his eyes.

He also looks relieved and thankful, so Kimi knows he did the right thing.

When Kimi loses sight of Sebastian for a moment, he shrugs and tries not to be too worried. It’s not like he’s responsible for him or anything. Seb is old enough to take care of himself and not get in trouble.

Right?

Then why is Kimi restless and trying to look for a blonde mop of hair in the crowd?

It’s when he returns from the restroom, that he sees Sebastian again, surrounded by the two drivers from earlier. It’s clear that they’ve been waiting for this chance and grabbed it as soon as Kimi was out of sight. And Sebastian is either too polite, too dumb or too proud to decline the drink they shove in his face. Seb’s whole face crumbles after he takes a sip. It’s adorable, Kimi doesn’t have any other word for it and he can’t help but let out a chuckle.

Fucking fool. Kimi thinks fondly.

As Kimi comes closer to the trio, he hears Jenson cackle loudly, the man ruffling Seb’s hair like he’s a child and Seb smiles up at him brightly, obviously pleased that he made them proud.

Fucking fool. Kimi thinks again, this time rolling his eyes. Does the kid not realize they are playing with him? He’s lucky Kimi is here to save him from these vultures.

Smoothly, he slides himself next to Sebastian and puts his arm around the boy again. Kimi swiftly takes the drink clutched in Seb’s hand and swallows it all down in one go. He glances at Seb’s awed expression and then looks Mark and Jenson dead in the eyes.

“Leave him alone,” he grumbles warningly.

“Oh piss off, Kimi,” Mark laughs. “I’m sure Seb knows what he’s doing, right Seb?”

Sebastian’s eyes shift from Mark to Kimi and his cheeks flush pink when their attention is solely focused on him. Right as he opens his mouth to say something, Kimi jumps in again.

“Does he really, though? If he knew, he wouldn’t be hanging out with you two.”

That startles out a laugh out of Jenson, who holds up his hands in defeat. “Ok, ok, fair enough.”

“You’re awfully protective of young Seb here, Kimi,” Mark remarks suddenly, squinting his eyes to look at them suspiciously. “Is there something going on we don’t know about?”

Seb goes beet red at that, positively flustered and he lets out a nervous giggle. And even though the question isn’t directed at him, the fool still decides to answer. “What should be going on? There’s nothing going on.” His voice is high and panicky, way too quick to deny what Mark is implying and Kimi groans internally. Seb’s not making a very good case for himself. For them. But it also opens a can of worms, because with Seb reacting this way, it only confirms what Kimi had been thinking before.

The kid is crushing big time.

On Kimi.

Of course, Jenson and Mark catch on to Seb’s sudden shyness and blushing cheeks as well, two matching shit eating grins on their faces. Jenson looks like he’s about to explode with glee.

“Aww Sebi,” Jenson laughs, reaching out to pinch one of Seb’s cheeks, “don’t worry, having a big old crush is normal, especially at your age.”

Seb swats the hand away, hiding his face behind his own as he rubs over his eyes. “Jenson,” he mewls pathetically, “I don’t- I’m not-“

He opens his eyes again and this time he’s glaring, eyes shooting daggers at both men, but strategically avoiding eye contact with Kimi.

“Don’t listen to them,” Kimi mumbles in Seb’s ear, squeezing his shoulder and feeling Seb involuntarily shiver again. "Maybe find someone your own size to tease, Webber.”

Apparently, it’s the wrong thing to say, because while it brings out a loud laugh from Mark, Seb tenses under his arm and frowns at Kimi, face falling like he’s disappointed.

“Pfff, what do you mean?” Sebastian demands. “That I’m too small or something?”

"Well, you're not exactly the tallest…" Jenson murmurs under his breath, but Seb doesn’t even hear it as he continues to babble.

"I’m not a child, I can hold my alcohol.”

To prove his point, Seb suddenly stops a waitress and Kimi wants to scream at him for being an infuriating reckless idiot for what he does next.

It’s not even about the alcohol anymore and they all know it, but Kimi lets Sebastian get away with it. God knows the boy is flustered enough already.

“What is the strongest drink you have?”

The girl looks at him skeptically, eyebrow raised and lips pursed. “Are you sure you’re old enough to drink?”

More cackling from Jenson and Mark, even Kimi can’t help but chuckle. Not because of her obvious mistrust, it’s Seb’s annoyed little face that almost has him rolling. It’s only after Sebastian shows her his ID, that she answers his question. Apparently they have a really good and strong rum and Seb orders it straight away.

This won’t end well if Kimi doesn’t do something right now, so he excuses himself quickly and pretends to go to the bathroom. He makes his way to the bar where he sees the waitress prepare Seb’s drink.

“Excuse me,” Kimi says loudly to catch her attention. When she looks up, Kimi continues. “Could you change my friend’s order to apple juice instead?”

The waitress snorts, but she hesitates. “Does he know though?”

“Nope,” Kimi grins cheekily, knowing his smile can charm the pants off of anyone he directs it at. “But you know, I don’t want to deal with the aftermath.”

“Yeah, probably for the best,” she smiles back, thoroughly checking Kimi out. If he wasn’t out with Sebastian and the others tonight, he might have tried his luck with her. As it is, he currently has his hands full preventing Seb to become the laughing stock of the paddock. Plus, he isn’t really interested in a girl. At least not for tonight.

He thanks the waitress and goes back to Seb, pretty sure he got away with it and no one saw what he did.

A few moments later, the waitress appears again with Seb’s drink. Seb takes it from her, but the smile on his face is slowly disappearing. He’s probably wondering why the hell he did what he did.

Oh, Kimi can’t wait to see his reaction once he takes a sip.

Seb sniffs it first, his eyes widening a fraction at the smell. He sends a subtle look at Kimi, his eyebrow raising a bit. To anyone else it might seem like he is reacting to the strong smell of rum, but Kimi knows better. To him, the look clearly says I know exactly what you did here and thank you for saving me.

Smirking, he watches as Seb brings the glass to his lips, taking a tiny sip from it. Seb almost chokes when he swallows the liquid, which only makes it more believable that it’s anything but apple juice. Mark and Jenson are watching with amused eyes, both daring Seb to drink more.

And as if to prove a point, Seb lets his eyes go over everyone looking at him, making sure they’re watching as the little shit downs the glass in one go. Eliciting gasps of disbelief and snorted laughter from all around them.

Kimi watches fascinated at the way Sebastian’s Adam’s apple moves as he swallows, some of the apple juice escaping from the corner of his lips, dribbling down his chin, to his neck and disappearing in the oversized shirt he’s wearing. There’s a strong urge to lick that trail, but Kimi is getting distracted by the hollering and shouting from everyone around them.

The smug look full of mischief Sebastian wears on his face when he looks around to see everyone’s attention is on him, makes Kimi laugh quietly under his breath. This kid is unbelievable.

And Kimi is loving it.

He’s so different from Kimi, but that’s exactly why he’s so attracted to him. He’s cheeky and can be a tad bit too full of himself. Thrives and gets drunk on attention (quite literally) with a constant urge to prove himself, very naive at times… all that but most importantly he’s a good person. Kimi can’t help but be drawn to him.

After Seb’s little show, Mark and Jenson finally leave him alone. For now. Kimi knows they will be back soon, so he’s got to act quick. His tolerance for alcohol is pretty high, but even Kimi got his limits. Time to end this circus and get Sebastian back to his hotel room.

“Let’s get out of here,” Kimi leans in to mumble in Seb’s ear, not aware of how that sounds at first. He quickly realizes what it did to Sebastian though when he pulls back to look at him. The boy is all fluttering, hopeful eyes, his cheeks warming up once again as he bites his bottom lip to the point where it turns white.

Kimi is about to explain he didn’t mean it like that (or did he?) when he spies Mark and Jenson coming their way again in the corner of his eye, both of their hands full of another round of drinks.

Shit. Kimi has to think of something quickly.

“Act drunk,” Kimi hisses to Sebastian. “Really drunk, come on.”

“What?” Seb sounds genuinely confused. “Why?”

“Just do it, Seb.”

“But Kimi wh-…” Seb interrupts himself when he spots the men coming closer to them. “Ah, ok, yeah I can do that,” he whispers, sounding almost excited that he gets to act again.

By the time Mark and Jenson reach them, Seb is clinging to Kimi, one arm wrapped around Kimi’s shoulder as if his life depends on it. Seb is putting all his weight onto Kimi, just like any drunk person struggling to keep standing upright, and Kimi has to act fast to keep the boy from falling flat on his face.

Grabbing onto his waist tightly, Kimi feels Seb involuntarily shiver the moment his fingers dig into the soft flesh.

Interesting. And so blatantly obvious.

But no time to think about it or test Sebastian further, because Jenson is already encouraging him to take the next drink.

Somehow, Sebastian managed to make his eyes look all glassy, slowly blinking around him before he fixes his unsteady gaze on Jenson.

Goddamn, but he’s one hell of an actor, Kimi thinks giddily.

“Hi,” Sebastian slurs, very convincingly and if Kimi didn’t know any better, he’d think Seb was truly intoxicated. “Is that for me?”

Jenson hesitates, clearly a bit taken aback by how drunk Sebastian seems to be all of a sudden. Even Mark frowns a bit, squinting his eyes at Seb and Kimi and assessing the situation.

Kimi is a terrible actor, he knows that, but he can’t resist to take the opportunity and jump in anyway.

“Nope, that’s it, you’ve had enough,” he tells Seb sternly, glaring at Jenson and Mark for good measure. Jenson at least has the decency to look a bit guilty, but Mark looks like he wants to protest and see if he can get Sebastian to have at least one more drink.

“Don’t even think about it, Webber,” Kimi puts a growl into his voice, wrapping his arm more protectively around Seb who just melts and even fucking snuggles into Kimi’s side.

Oh boy, Sebastian is sure making the most of this whole thing while he still can, knowing he won’t be called out for it because he’s supposedly 'about to pass out' drunk. The little fucker is mouthing Kimi’s chest through his shirt, pretending to mumble something but only managing to get drool and damp puffs of breath out.

Fuck, he’s making it very hard for Kimi, in every sense of the word, and if Kimi is not careful, the whole bar is soon going to see what Sebastian is doing to him.

“Let’s go,” Kimi says with a clipped voice, shaking Seb to get him out of whatever trance he seems to be in.

Seb blinks up slowly, grinning that infuriating grin. “To where?”

“Yeah Kimi, where to?” Jenson teases, sipping his own drink like he’s drinking tea and getting ready for all the gossip.

“I bet he’s taking Seb with him to his hotel room,” Mark says, snickering, his eyes suspiciously going back and forth between Kimi and Seb, a sneaky smirk permanent on his face.

They really are terrible. The both of them.

“Shut up,” Kimi groans. As far as comebacks go, this isn’t really a strong one, but he doesn’t care. He needs to get Seb and himself out of here and these two are getting on his nerves.

Tightening his hold on the younger man, Kimi drags Sebastian away, towards the entrance of the bar. All the while Seb is staying in character, stumbling after Kimi and getting all flustered. And yeah, maybe Kimi is getting a bit too handsy with him, accidentally sliding underneath Seb’s shirt a couple of times and feeling up the soft, warm flesh underneath his fingers. He smirks when the kid shudders and his cheeks flush pink. Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise Kimi if Sebastian got turned on from all the manhandling.

Ugh, it’s not the right time to imagine Sebastian all hard and wanton for Kimi… he really needs to get them out of here ASAP.

“Where are you taking me?”

“To your hotel.”

Wide, blue eyes stare into Kimi’s own, excitement bright in them. “Will you stay?”

Eh, what? The direct question catches Kimi a bit off guard. To be honest, he hasn’t really thought that far ahead yet.

“Why would I?” he counters instead of answering.

Seb looks away, blushing and stammering. “Well, Uh… I-I mean… I just, I want, I think it would be nice if we’d have one last drink together for the night.”

Ah, right. Kimi can barely hold in his snort with how obvious Seb is, but decides to humor him for now.

“Sure, why not.”

*

The taxi ride is a quick one, Seb’s hotel only a couple of blocks away from the bar. And Kimi is glad for it, because as much as he prides himself for his high alcohol tolerance, when he closes his eyes for a second he can feel everything spinning. He’s not as sober as he thought he was. He figures it’s the hard stuff he took for Seb and he smiles a little at that thought. It’s quite baffling really, how the brat has got him wrapped around his little crooked finger in such a short amount of time since they met.

Once in the hotel lobby, Seb leads Kimi to his room, a noticeable skip in his step, throwing shy, goofy smiles over his shoulder when he looks back at Kimi.

And as much as Kimi is trying to play it cool, he can feel his face react to it, the corners of his lips turning up and smiling back just as goofily. Which only makes Seb’s eyes shine even more, biting his lip around a big grin.

Damnit, Seb really has no business in being this cute.

*

“So uhm… what would you like to drink?” Seb asks him once they’re inside his hotel room, awkwardly fumbling open the door of the mini fridge. Sebastian peers inside and frowns when he only sees soda in it.

“Ach scheiße,” he curses.

“Water is fine, Seb,” Kimi chuckles, sitting down on the sofa in the corner of the room. Seb looks for a glass and when he doesn’t find any, he goes looking for one in the bathroom. He comes back with a water filled glass with toothpaste stains on it, probably from when he brushed his teeth this morning, but Kimi takes it anyway. He’s not sure if Seb would survive the embarrassment of Kimi commenting on it, he’s already so on edge and nervous.

Sebastian is reaching for a Red Bull for himself.

“Eh, is that a good idea?” Kimi questions, sipping on his own water. Seb looks back at him, confused.

“Why wouldn’t it be?”

“You’re about to go to sleep.”

“Right,” Seb says, putting the Red Bull back into the fridge, opting for a Diet Coke instead. “Am I though?” he asks after he’s opened the can and slurps at the foam that came to the surface.

The question doesn’t really come through for a few seconds; Kimi is transfixed on how Seb’s tongue comes out to lick at the can and his own lips. It’s only when Seb is playfully raising his eyebrows that he replays it in his head. But still not really sure what Sebastian meant, though.

“Are you what?”

“Going to sleep?”

The hope in Seb’s voice to get lucky can be heard from miles away. But it’s not like Kimi didn’t know Sebastian would try to get into bed with him. The whole evening has been leading up to this. And if Kimi had his way, he’d have already had Sebastian spread out on the bed, pinning his arms above his head and his legs wrapped around Kimi’s waist.

When Kimi doesn’t answer right away, his face not revealing what he’s thinking, Sebastian starts to back track. “I mean, uhm… You don’t… only if you want,” he finishes awkwardly.

Only if Kimi wants? Oh, but he wants. Ever since he first laid eyes on Sebastian.

“Sebastian…” Kimi pats the space next to him on the sofa and Seb almost trips over his own feet to get to Kimi. Instead of sitting down next to him, Seb lets himself drop into Kimi’s lap, grinning up at him when Kimi lets out a loud “oomph”.

“Hallo,” Seb says, grinning even bigger when he notices how Kimi’s eyes have dropped to his lips.

“Hei,” Kimi almost whispers back as Seb settles his knees on either side of Kimi’s legs and plops his ass down right on Kimi’s very interested dick. He wraps his arms around Kimi’s neck, cuddling even closer, so close that their noses are almost touching. It gives Kimi a pretty good view of those blue eyes, now darkened and full of anticipation, lips parted as he pants softly, just begging to be kissed.

So that’s what Kimi does, leaning in and planting a soft kiss on those full lips. It’s just a brushing of lips really, but the moment Seb tries to take it further Kimi feels his head spin again and it’s not the good kind.

Damn, that alcohol.

Pulling back from the kiss, Kimi watches with regret how Seb’s lips are shiny with spit and even fatter than before, knowing he can’t do anything about it now. Sebastian is having none of it, though, leaning back in for another kiss, obviously very eager to continue this. Kimi has to shove him away gently before Seb finally gets the hint.

“I thought you wanted this?” Seb sounds and looks so unsure and Kimi wants to slap himself. He’s entirely giving off the wrong signals here.

“I do,” he groans, closing his eyes. His hands are still on Sebastian’s hips as he throws his head back against the couch.

“Then what’s wrong? If we both want it, why are you stopping this?”

Sebastian sounds so frustrated and when Kimi opens his again he can see Seb is wearing a matching look on his face, almost scowling at him for denying them what they both want.

“I just want you to remember tomorrow morning.”

“Are you serious?” Seb snickers, almost falling forward with his laughter and taking that opportunity to snuggle into Kimi’s chest. “I hardly drank anything, thanks to Mr. Protective - you - over here. I’m as sober as one can be.”

“Well, maybe you are,” Kimi says, “but I am not. Remember I had all your drinks?”

The laughter fades, a deep disappointed sigh can be heard in its place.

“Are you really that drunk?” Sebastian tries to bargain.

“Not super wasted but drunk enough to not enjoy you to the fullest if we do this now.” Kimi can practically feel Sebastian burning up in flames because of that and he grins to himself. “I just want to show you a really good time, ok? Can’t do that in this state, trust me.”

He can feel Seb nod against his chest, finally relenting and accepting that it’s not happening tonight.

“Tomorrow though?”

Kimi chuckles darkly, bending to whisper in Sebastian’s ear.

“Oh, tomorrow morning I’m going to fuck you so good you will never want me to stop.”

Notes:

Writing a smutty follow up for this at the moment, but since my inspiration (and motivation) to write has been fluctuating a lot in the last couple of months, it could take a little bit longer. I am however having a lot of fun with this so far, so yeah, gonna do my best!

Please let me know what you think? 💕
