Blood…

So much blood…

Jay was running the fastest he's ever run, ducking and weaving through trees. Because a person, no not a person a Thing, came up and bit him. He was bleeding profusely out of his neck, Jay tried to put his hand over the bullet wound like bite marks to slow it down. “Fuck fuck fuck,” Jay wispered to himself as he hid behind a tree. The pain was unbearable but he knew that he couldn’t scream or it’ll hear him.
“Come out little human boy,” the Thing called out. He could hear it’s footsteps as it drew near, Jay panicked and searched for something so he could make out of a weapon. He saw a largish rock and quickly picked it up feeling a little safer. Out of nowhere the Thing soon grabbed Jay’s arm and as a reaction he whipped around and hit it in the face with the rock.
“You little shit!” It hissed in pain and graded it’s face. Jay took his chance and ran for it, his vision soon grew blurry but he had to keep running. Not paying attention Jay tripped hitting the ground hard. He tried to scramble to his feet but to no avail the monster had already reached him.
“I had fun playing our little game of cat and mouse,” it said, looming over Jay with a sinister grin with its fangs hanging out. It grabbed him by the neck and bit him again but this time it felt as if his blood was being pumped with kerosene. He screamed with pain and tried to pry it off of him but with no success. Jay’s vision was fading to black.
“Oh god,” he thought, “I don’t want to die.” Everything became black and his other senses faded until there was absolutely nothing.

Then Jay woke up and shot up, he noticed that he was heavily breathing.
“Fuck,” He wispered to himself. He got out of his bed and headed to the bathroom. It had only been less than a week since he was bit and no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened. He could stop thinking about the feeling of being bit, he could stop thinking about the pure panic that pumped through him, and he could stop thinking about the thing that attacked him.

He hissed as the bathroom white fluorescent light came on. Jay studied himself in the mirror looking at how pale he’s gotten and blood shot his eyes were. Hadn’t left his home since that horrific night because when he first awoke, he felt as if his skin was being burned when it came into contact with sunlight.

He was snapped out of his trance when he felt the sting of hunger fill his stomach. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem and he would just grab a bite to eat but Jay couldn’t find a thing that either filled him up or stood down. Then he had the great idea that he would go to a store and maybe he would find something there to eat and it was 1a.m in the middle of fall so the sun had most definitely had gone down already. He left the bathroom and got ready to leave.

Jay drove up to a smallish grocery store that was still open and walked inside. He walked around for a while but couldn’t find anything that enticed him so he ended up just buying a bag of chips and a soda. Jay finishes paying and another hit of painful hunger hits him but far more instances this time, he hazily stumbles out of the store, he was starving. He stumbled to his car and as he was about to enter his car and go home when someone caught his eye. The person looked like a middle aged man with a decent build and there was nothing that stood out to him but without thinking Jay secretly followed him behind the store. Hiding behind a corner he saw the guy light a cigarette and check something on his phone. Suddenly he had lost all control over his body, ran over to the stranger and bit him on the neck. The man screamed but Jay covered his mouth and continued feeding. Mentily Jay was trying his best to stop his body but nothing worked.
“What happening?” Jay thought, “Why am I doing this?” The man moved less and less until he’d completely stopped. Jay stumbled back terrified on what he’d had just done but far more horrified at the fact that he was no longer hungry in the slightest. Soaking in the guy's blood he booked it to his car and drove off as fast as he could. Only one thing was in his head as he hastily drove home.

“Vampire,”

The next morning Jay was on his bed still mortified on what he had done. He heard his phone buzz and went to grab it. He opened it up and it was a text from Brian.

BRAIN

“Hey me and Tim are going to get coffee at 1”
“you want to come?”

Jay looked at the text and debated if he should go or not. On one hand if he goes he could get himself outed as a monster and or hurt or even kill Brian and Tim but on the other hand he hasn’t talked to someone in almost a week and he could find out how to go back to normal.

JAY

“Sure”

Jay soon realizes that it’s going to be very hard to meet up with the guys since it's going to be daylight outside. He needs to come up with a plan fast because he only had an hour to get ready.

Jay parked his car and headed inside the little coffee shop. When he got inside he scanned the seats for his friends and headed over to the table once he spotted them.
“Woah is that you Jay?” Brian said with a dumbfounded look.
“Yea what's all this,” Tim added, hand gesturing to Jay attire. He was wearing his regular blue denim jeans, a navy blue sweater over what looked like a turtleneck sweater, thin leather gloves, black shin socks, old tennis shoes, a mask, sunglasses and his hat.
“Oh um I think I got a cold and I don't want to get you guys sick too. Also it's cold out, ” He murmured the last part.
“Well alright,” Brian said in response as Jay took a seat. Then Tim and Brian started to talk about college related stuff and Jay just sat staring at the menu.
“Hi, are you guys ready to order,” Jay jumped a little, having just realized a barista had walked up to their table.
“Yeah, I'll have a black coffee,” Tim said.
“I’ll have a lotte” Brian added. Their eyes turned to Jay waiting for him to respond.
“Oh umm I think I’ll just have water, ” He said sheepishly. Luckley water was one of the few foods that Jay could make stay down for the most part but everyone just looked at him with slight confusion.
“Really, if you're worried about paying I'll pay you know,” Brian said to Jay.
“Oh no i'm fine really,” Jay said trying to reinsure the table.
“Well alright, 1 lotte, 1 black coffee, and a water,” The barista said, writing on their little notepad and left. Tim and brian went back to talking about college. Jay noticed that Tim was fidgeting with a napkin and Brian was slowly tapping his fingers on the table.
“Sooo how have you guys been?” Jay asked, trying to include himself in the conversation. Tim and brian turned their heads and stared at Jay.
“Oh I’ve been good, college and work are a pain in the ass though,” Tim said and brian nodded in agreement.
“How have you been?” Tim asked.
“I’ve been great,” Jay lied blatantly. Tim lifted an eyebrow in suspicion on how truthly Jay is being. Brian then slightly laughed to himself.
“You know Jay you kinda look like a vampire from the way you’re dressing,” Brian Joked. “And I wouldn’t be surprised if you were one from the way you’re acting,” Tim added. Both Brian and Tim both started to laugh and Jay joined in, slowly dying inside.
“Wouldn’t that be cool, you’d be able to turn into a bat and fly around,” Brian said, still laughing to himself.
“Fun fact vampires supposedly can also turn into wolves but you don’t really see it in shows or movies since it’s too similar to werewolves,” Tim said, smiling slightly to himself and Jay just stared at him with wide eyes.
“You know anything else about vampires!” Jay said maybe a little too loud but he needed to find out what he could so he could go back to normal. Tim stared at him uncomfortably.
“Well ummm…” Tim was going to say something until he was interrupted by a barista pleasing their drinks down. They all took their respective drinks, Tim and brian immediately started drinking while Jay was far more hesitant. They all drank in silence for a few seconds till Tims phone buzzed. Tim looked at the message and scowled.
“Sorry guys I have to go, my boss needs me,” Tim got up and was about to leave.
“Hey Tim you still live in Rosswood right?” Jay asked.
“Yeah why?” Tim replied with a confused and worried look.
“Ohh just wondering,” Jay said back, shuffling in his seat.

Tim, still with a worried look, left the shop and Jay looked back at brian who had a “I know what you're doing,” face.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Jay said worryingly.
“Why’d you want to know where Tim lived?” Brian asked with now more of a smug look on his face.
“I umm just wanted to know where he lived, so I could ask him what he knew about vampires,” Jay said, shifting around in his seat trying to act calm.
“Oh really, are you sure that you are not going there for other reasons,” Jay could feel his heart stop and Brian still stared at him with a smirk.
“Umm what's that supposed to mean,” Jay was sitting there with anticipation on what Brain was going to say next. “Did he already figure out I'm a vampire, oh god what am I going to do,” he repeatedly screamed in his head.
“Are you? It doesn't have anything to do with having a certain fondness for someone,” Brain said and Jay nearly spat out his water. Jay was relieved that Brain didn’t know but also appalled that he would think that.
“Umm n-no! Tim and I are just good friends, nothing more. I don’t how’d you’d think that,” The hotter Jay’s face got the more defensive he was getting. Brian just scoffed and got up to leave.
“Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night,” Brian said as he was grabbing his stuff. “Anyways I got to go too, see you around Jay,” Brian said and left, leaving Jay alone with his face red as an apple.

When Jay got home, he went straight to his room, tried as all hell. He was about to fall asleep when he felt his stomach growl. Panic was setting in again. He needed to talk to Tim, find out what he can and get rid of this thing before he hurts or kills another person.

The next day Jay drove up and parked his car on the outskirts of Rosswood and got out. He walks up to the dirt road entrance and right past the rusting “Beware big dogs” sign. He walks for a while, taking in how beautiful Rosswood was at golden hour. It was slightly foggy and some gold light peaked through the trees and it all smelled of pine trees. He walks up to a clearing where a wooden house lies, he sees Tim’s car parked outside and other “Beware big dogs” signs litter around. He walks up the porch and knocks on the door 4 times and the door slowly opens revealing a tried Tim.
“Oh hey Jay, what are you doing here?”
