Chapter Text

The first and last person to care about him was his mother.

"I'm so sorry, Izuku!" she sobbed, clutching her son close to her chest. Her sobbing was getting louder and her tears had soaked the little boy's shirt.

"I can't be a hero, Mama?" The tears were running down his face at an unusual rate as his heart thumped in his chest.

He was trying to smile, heroes had to smile, right? He had to be stronger for his mama-

His mother just sobbed harder.

Her poor boy didn't understand yet, but he would soon.

He knew she didn't mean to show it at the time. But looking back, she was scared. He knew the fear was for him.

That's what saddened him the most.

He just wanted his mother back.

As he stared down at her casket, the numb feeling that had been brewing within his stomach for a while now started to crawl it's way up through his chest. It wrapped it's tendrils around his throat and squeezed.

When everyone had left and the sky had turned dark, Izuku blinked and came back to himself. He felt lost and confused. Where did all the time go?

He shook his head and focused on the grave in front of him.

His mother was gone.

His mother was gone.

He took a sharp gasping breath. His chest was heaving. He couldn't breathe, everything was too loud, and the silence of the graveyard was making his skin crawl. He wanted to pick apart his skin, to release himself from this horrible fleshy suit. To bang his head against a wall until he bled and could not stop bleeding. He felt so unbearably lost. He let out a broken sob as he crumpled to his knees.

He clawed at his arms, His nails causing red drip onto the soft dirt and grass. His heart continued to beat out of his chest, his broken sobs muffled by his arm when he bit down as hard as he could to try and ground himself with the pain. The tangy and copper taste of blood filled his mouth and his agony grew stronger.

He couldn't help it and continued to spiral.

The pain he was in was unlike anything he'd ever endured. Was this a divine punishment? Was God real? What had he done to deserve this madness? For his mother to die? Was this his karma for simply existing? His chest was rising and falling far too quickly for comfort. He couldn't stop it even if he wanted to. The black edging his vision finally engulfed him and he welcomed it with open arms. He finally passed out. No longer could he feel anything. It was bliss.
