Adventures of Project Ekko

Summary:

This fanfic is inspired by the original lore of projects in League Of Legends. Most of the story is my take , nothing what happen in my fanfiction is basically cannon besides the obvious facts included in Riot's Projects lore page. Enjoy !

The fanfic will basically be focused on two things Ekko and slowly recovering friendship between Jinx & Ekko...who knows maybe they will feel in love once more 👀

Notes:

To don't make you confused here are a few small notes.

PROJECTs - The evil group who tries to keep control and peace in the city in most drastic ways. No matter what it costs...

G/Netics - A rebel group which decided to fight against PROJECTs for the better future of their futuristic homeland. Some of them are ex members of PROJECTs some of them are just people who wants to fight for the cause.

Projects - Basically most of the characters are Project , half human & half machines , each of them have their unique talents and appereance.

Chapter 1

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪ - ᴡᴇʟᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴛᴏ ɢ/ɴᴇᴛɪᴄꜱ

It has already been five years since Ekko has joined G/Netics after getting recruited by Ashe , their leader. The intelligent hacker from the lower zone had his own private vendetta against PROJECTS. After how the commander of their group murdered his parents he swore on his life that he will avenge them. And he will keep his promise no matter what. He even found how their commander is called , He was known as PROJECT Zed. Oh how much he hated his guts. But he knew that he can't handle his biggest nemesis alone. No matter how much he would disrupt their signal they always managed to fix it in not more than two hours. And that's is where he met the commander of G/netics , Ashe. The male was trying to disrupt one of the main announcements from PROJECTs , but then he was asked to stop. Young hackerman of course feeling bow aimed at him he stopped his actions , he thought that he was gonna be executed right in this spot. But then he heard a femine voice speaking.

Ekko was a little confused , why did someone who looked like PROJECT wanted to recruit him into their rebellion group? What if this is just a trap and they expect him to fall for that? He asked a little unsure about that.

"𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧? 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩?"

The woman looked at him , tilting her head a little. Didn't she look different from typical unit groups? But she wanted to have a hacker into her team , so she needed to explain the case a little to him.

Zaunite looked right into the woman's face which was hidden under the cybernetic mask. He looked at the control panel for a while trying to make a choice, this choice will change his life forever. G/netics huh? The good guys fighting against the bad guys who think they are the good ones by enforcing rules in a wrong way? He raised his eyebrow but one of his hands moved to her direction to offer her a handshake.

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐢𝐧"

And that's how Ekko got recruited into the G/netics. And to be honest he enjoyed himself here. In the first few days the male had made friends with a few veterans. One of them was Yi who had issues with his code a lot before Ekko joined the squad. Young hackerman worked for a few weeks with Yi to fix their code , it was mostly caused by glitches in his code - sometimes he felt like PROJECTs are so poor that they can't hire at least decent techs. But Ekko, using his logical thinking, found the issue in his friend's code and fixed it. Ashe wasn't expecting how brilliant person she had hired to her team but she was really proud of him. PROJECT Yi was back to his full potential to help G/Netics in their cause. Second person who he made friends with after a much longer time was Lucian , it was harder because Zaunite found out that he was once within the Command Line of the PROJECTs. Even he wouldn't be surprised that he was once Zed's right hand. But after some missions together and Lucian explaining to Ekko that he didn't know who PROJECTs really are, he changed his mind about him. He thinks of Lucian as someone who has big experience in distance combat, almost as good as Ashe , in addition he had a lot of useful information. He was spending time together with Fiora watching her practice her fencing skills against dummies. The Green PROJECT was amazed by how fast and precise her attacks with her full-length pulse sword were.

"𝐒𝐨𝐨𝐨…𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭?"

The older female looked up at him, stopping for a while from her practice.

"𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧?"

"𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 , 𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧."

"𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 , 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦."

"𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐲𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬."

Ekko chuckled with confidence , he was quite proud of himself. But it seemed like it didn't impress at all the pink themed PROJECT. He sighed and shrugged it off , maybe next time he will be able to get more along with her. But he felt very welcomed by G/Netics. Ashe always tried to help him climate more into his new group , a team with which he will work for years. . .for a better tomorrow.

Chapter 2: Meet G/Netics members!

Ekko decides to do recruitment promotion video for G/Netics with Ashe's approval

Ekko gave Ashe one of his most clever ideas , why not make a recruitment message that way his leader could hire more possible good young talents into her squad. Green PROJECT already was writing his script on how he would promote a rebellious team. One of the best rebellious teams! And probably the only one…He was thinking for almost four hours , sometimes when he almost got it , he decided to throw that away and think about something else but then he realized that the previous script was actually good! Ashe sometimes laughed from that when she sometimes peeked at Ekko's work , it was his idea after all so she wanted him to do the job. But then he got it! The perfect script! The male seemed excited about his idea! Everyone agreed to that! Hacker slowly picked up the camera from his messy desk and checked the battery state…it was full and he didn't have to charge it at all , perfect! He fixed his mohawk a little infront the mirror , obviously he had to make sure that he looks good and represents G/netics in the best way possible. Of course he wanted to also show that he is the most handsome member of this rebellious squad , yes! Him! As soon as he turned on recording he flashed a big smile infront the camera.

Ekko chuckled as he directed the camera more to his side to show holograms , they weren't always visible just when he turned on his Z-Drive. First person who he wanted to introduce in his recruitment video was one of his closest friends , PROJECT Yi. The male aimed the camera at him , the other was meditating trying to focus…he seemed like levitating? and his sword too…he needs to ask Master Yi to teach him that once.

"𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐆/𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜. 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐘𝐢 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐘𝐢! 𝐇𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬! 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧…𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐳𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐳𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐳𝐨𝐨𝐦!"

He tried to imitate the sounds what he could hear from Yi when he was using his abilities. The orange coloured Project was slicing his enemies with his sword in a blink of an eye , if you blink you wouldn't even notice that. The older man sighed as he felt his meditation getting interrupted.

"𝐄𝐤𝐤𝐨. 𝐈 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞."

"𝐖𝐎𝐎𝐏𝐒! 𝐀𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠!"

Ekko quickly made his way out of Yi's room hoping he didn't get too annoyed at him. He knew that Yi is a patient person but he knew that he has his limit of patience as well and while he is meditating his patience is a little lower. The swordsmen had to deliver himself daily a few hours of meditation so he can have the best performance in battle , maybe hacker prodigy should try meditating as well if it does wonders. Next room was Leona's room , she was the guardian of the whole G/NESIS team. Their shield. He slowly approached her to record her from close up while she was practicing her moves.

Leona stopped for a while and waved to the camera. She was one of the G/NESIS members who was more open to Ekko's idea and supported it. Recently green PROJECT was getting closer to heavy armor combatant but the female never caught his attention and he didn't caught hers as well. Well he had suspicions that Leona might be into women more, maybe that's why he sees her sometimes watching how Fiora trains. Well…he won't judge that. Next stop Yasuo's room. Oh how it didn't surprise him that orange coloured PROJECT was playing on his flute , to his surprise he didn't knew why he was doing that most of the time…did it help him relax? He decided to record a bit of his flute concert and decided to speak.

Ekko waved to Yasuo a little but it seemed like the older man didn't mind him at all and played on his flute. Well at least he didn't feel disturbed. He always felt bad for what happened to him , he was loyal to PROJECTs a lot and was accused of one of the biggest crimes that he didn't commit. He heard that Yasuo got accused of killing one of his people which he couldn't believe , the older man always followed his biggest personal value, honor. Soon he was reaching Fiora's room but then he heard her snoring , it seemed like she was too exhausted from training before. Well maybe she will appear in the next recruitment video. Soon Ashe's room , he could hear some calm music playing in the background. Hacker prodigy slowly walked in and blushed a little as he seemed to walk in a bad moment. He saw how the woman practices yoga probably to be more flexible.

"𝐈'𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐬…𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭?"

The male got a little nervous as he approached closer and started recording Ashe as he thought it would be a good idea for her to introduce herself on her own. G/nesis leader noticed it and smiled at the camera.

Ekko chuckled and whistled, impressed by Ashe's amazing speech.

Ekko sighed in relief after he finished and ended the recording. He walked out of Ashes room and was now heading to his own room. Before going to sleep he probably gonna need to montage the recruitment video in such a way that he will convince how many people it's possible to join their case and then all what would have left is to hack into PROJECT's broadcast system and let their recruitment video spread.

Chapter 3: Familiar Encounter

Summary:

Ekko is sent to hijack important information from PROJECTs' main computers...but his actions got interrupted with grand entrance of his long lost friend!

ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪɪɪ - ꜰᴀᴍɪʟɪᴀʀ ᴇɴᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴇʀ

Finally a perfect opportunity to strike PROJECTs. They seem to be a little distracted with the outlaws. It's nice to sometimes work with less pressure on his shoulder - Ekko thought as he slowly slid into an abandoned building , easy access it seemed for him. He took a short minute to admire the construction and the technology of his enemy. Impressive that someone who has so little knowledge of enhancing their firewalls menaged go build something like that. He used his visor to scan the area trying to find the main computer to which he had to break into. After a while he found it , taking a few looks around him he slowly decided to get into his task. Bypassing their password didn't take him more than thirty minutes. So pathetic. And now the device in front him was fully accessed by him. The male focused on the screen slowly opening files scrolling through them wanting to find important information about PROJECTs future plans for Ashe and G/Netics. It was difficult to focus when nearby explosions were able to be heard , it seems like the outlaws really were doing their job unknowingly helping a hacker prodigy. He pulled out his pen drive and inserted it into the computer preparing to copy some files onto his device. He could feel how cold sweat is dropping from his face onto the keyboard. The noises of the battle getting closer scared him a little and distracted as he copied a few files into his device. He looked into the left direction where he could hear the screams and explosions. No , it must be enough. Ekko quickly pulled out the pen drive from the computer which he hacked and hid under the desk , after a short while a huge blast destroyed the wall. He could peek from his position an completely demolished PROJECT's guard but he couldn't spot who did that to him. Green project could hear footsteps of metallic shoes against the floor then heard a familiar voice.

"𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 , 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬?"

No…it cannot be her. Soon a flashback played right in his head of how he used to play a game with one neighbour girl who was his best friend. He remembers the times when she said that she would want to become PROJECT because she found it quite badass. Funny reason to join them but that's how Jinx was…wait he now remembered her name…Jinx. Ekko risked his life in this moment when he decided to peek from the other corner to see the possible danger to him and his mission. He could spot the black clothed project with pink-blue hair. Half of her face was covered by the mask like most of the projects…including him. In one hand she held a pistol , probably a plasma zapper. In the other hand he saw a rocket launcher which was in the shape of a metal shark. But didn't Jinx want to join the Project's? Why does she fight against them and destroy their robots? He could think of a few reasons why. Maybe she realized how bad PROJECTs are and decided to fight against them? That would give him the opportunity to recruit her into G/Netics. He would be able to get his childhood friend back and probably find out what she had been doing for so many years of them being separated. But then he also spotted other project. . .Yasuo, who seemed a little wounded from the fight. He could see how his old friend aimed her rocket launcher at the swordsmen and then he could hear the explosion. Hacker prodigy cursed under his breath , so Jinx fights both PROJECTs and G/netics?! He became a little worried as a piece of ceiling dropped down near him , he peeked once more and saw the cybernetic wind wall and Yasuo standing behind it. Impressive how his wind wall could defend him from rockets. He quickly stood up and rushed to the exit , obviously it wasn't left unnoticed by the purple project. He could hear the shoots right behind him , and he could sense someone running after him. Time to turn his Z-drive just in case he would get wounded by Jinx's bullet or rockets. As he left the building he could then notice how it collapsed right in front of his eyes. He got a little worried that his ex best friend was now burrowed under the debris but to his surprise she made it out and aimed with her zapper instead at him. He quickly dodged the shot and looked at her face , she didn't seem like under her own control that maniac grin and purple glowing eyes staring at him. He wondered how he started running, how fast he could dodging the best how he could her bullets as she aimed at him with her minigun…wait…minigun? Hacker prodigy peeked from the corner of the wall and just noticed that , so her so-called 'Fishbones' has two modes. Minigun and rocket launcher. Quite an impressive invention when it comes to weapons , he wondered for quite a while if she made it herself. He remembered when they were young they shared the same interest , inventions. When he wanted to work on something harmless , she always prefered to make guns or bombs and somehow he always found it interesing. Back to reality , he figured out he wouldn't lose her if he was going to run in the open so he decided to use the advantage of the city having so many small dark alleys. He still could hear the footsteps chasing after him , he really hoped that purple project didn't know those alleys that well like he did. Ekko's eyes widened as he reached the dead end of the alley with pink-blue neon painting…what if it was her plan from the start. He looked behind himself and he saw her approaching him slowly. Her rocket launcher aimed right into his face as he tried to step back. He got even more nervous as he felt how his back was now pressed against the cold wall.

"𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 , 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐲?"

He shivered as he heard her voice once more , he could still recognise her voice despite it sounding a little…robotic. He asked

"𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?"

Jinx only tilted her head at the question and let out a loud laugh before putting the rocket launcher's end right against his throat.

"𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐃𝐔𝐇! 𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 𝐅𝐔𝐍?! 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓'𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓! 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍!"

Soon he could hear a few shots but not towards him , he saw how bullets hit Jinx's weapon knocking it out of her hands. Green project looked up and noticed a G/netics member , Lucian with Ashe.

"𝐑𝐔𝐍 𝐍𝐎𝐖!"

Ekko hearing it he quickly shoved the purple project aside and made his escape. From the rooftops Lucian tried to shoot her but she quickly moved to the shadows so the double gun wielder couldn't see where she was. Ashe quickly with her ice arrows shot the exit from the alley after Ekko escaped wanting to slow her down. Hacker prodigy sighed in relief that members of his team didn't want to hurt her that much , seeing how she didn't shoot him instantly like others; he is confident that she remembers him. He could hear Jinx's curses as she realized that Lucian's bullets damaged an important part of her main weapon.

After every member of G/netics returned to their hideout , Ekko decided to check the data which he stole from the PROJECTs. He wasn't fully focused as he still was thinking about Jinx and her behaviour , she seemed like in some kind of trance…even he could call it a berserk mode when she was facing others. He jumped a little when he heard how his room's doors opened , he turned around to notice Ashe who slowly took off her mask. Hacker prodigy was a little surprised because he never saw them take off their masks but to be fair he took off his mask as well. The conversation between them started.

"𝐒𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲 , 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫?"

With a small hesitation he answered.

"𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐡…𝐬𝐡𝐞….𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝. 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭."

Ekko turned away from Ashe, focusing back on his task , a little shocked. He knew from his engineering classes how bad it is when the memory core is damaged. But he is more than sure that he can fix it…he MUST fix it. He must get her back. He felt an older woman's hand against his left shoulder.
