Return of the Elden Lord

Summary:

After 9 months, and a grueling battle of life and death through the lands between, Izuku has returned to his original body on earth. A lot has changed while he has been away, feelings come out, tears are shed and friendships get rekindled.

Notes:

This fic is similar to a "sequel" of my other fic, Rise of the Elden Lord.

Though instead of being directly after, this is more of a separate timeline in which Izuku returns to his original body rather than continuing to explore the vast world of Elden Ring.

You do not need to read "Rise" to understand this one ("Return") as all past events for this fic (future events for "Rise") will be explained and filled out. This also constitutes a spoiler warning.

Chapter 1: Return of the king.

Chapter Text

Light.

For once, when Izuku rested at a site of grace it was not darkness that met his eyes as he rest in the limbo between worlds.

The light came from a natural source, the open window of his hospital room. The wind ruffling the curtains and the sound of tires on asphalt and distant car horns met his ears.

A single tear leaked from the corner of his eye, "I'm home."

No sooner had he said it he heard the door click open, he turned to see who entered, spotting a tall yet deathly skinny man enter the room. He had long, wavy blond hair with two bangs that framed his hollow face. Two beautifully blue eyes blazed from within his sunken eye sockets. He wore a white dress shirt and black pants that were roughly 7 sizes to large for man with his frame along with a blue tie that matched his eyes.

Izuku smiled as the man walked in without noticing that the rooms occupant was now awake and sat down in an empty chair across from him with his head in his hands.

"Rough day?" Izuku asked, calmly. He knew who the man was, from his brief moments of listening in through the darkness that over took him when he rested at a sight of grace. The man was Toshinori Yagi, All Might's personal secretary and his mom's current boyfriend.

"You have no idea." The man answered on instinct, looking up from his hands at where the voice came from. His eyes went wide at the realization of what was in front of him, you could almost see the rest of his eyes with how much more light could suddenly enter his eye sockets.

"Don't freak out, cause if you do then everyone in the adjacent rooms would be unhappy at the sudden volume."

Izuku didn't have to worry about that however, as Toshinori was far to stunned to speak at the moment. The boy he had found in that underpass all those months ago as All Might, the one that was the son of the woman he was currently seeing, the same one that had been a coma since he'd met him, was finally awake.

"Yo- you're awake... How?" He managed to say quietly.

"It's... a very, very long story. But it's one that I'm happy to tell in a more... comfortable setting." He did a quick glance around the room and Toshinori caught on quickly.

"Yes, yes of course. Uh, I should really call your mother." Toshinori stood up in a hurry, taking his phone out and starting to dial.

"Please do, but don't tell her I'm awake." He let a small smile appear on his face, his first in a long, long time. "I want it to be a surprise."

Toshinori nodded and quickly told Inko to come by the hospital room, she sounded unsure from his spot across the room, but a bit of encouragement without letting the surprise slip and she said she was on her way.

"Great. Now, before she gets here I need to test a few things as he slowly slipped out of the bed."

"Hey woah woah woah. You've been in a coma for a few years, your body isn't used to-" Toshinori stopped mid sentence as the boy stood up, though what he saw wasn't the small skinny boy you'd expect to have come out of a coma. He was in fantastic shape, the hospital gown which was previously quite loose on him like they should be, was now looking quite tight. This was mainly due to the amount of muscle that the boy's small frame seemed to have gained overnight.

"You're right, just to be safe." He held out his had and a small red bottle materialized in his hand. The boy then took a drink from the bottle and small glowing gold particles flowed outwards from his body. "There. Now, that is one test done." He then materialized a small dagger in his hand. He then summoned a wooden staff with a sharp blue crystal sticking out of the end. Toshinori could only watch in awe as a small blue sigil appeared above the staff and a larger blue sword started to envelope the dagger in his right hand, slowly covering it until the sword extended to well over a meter long.

Izuku promptly made the magic sword, the dagger and the staff all dissapear before holding out his hand. "Lets see if those old laws still apply." Toshinori saw Izuku's eyes glow with golden light as the same sigil appeared above his hand and the same blue sword grew out, enveloping nothing this time but still appearing nonetheless. It all happened with practiced speed, Toshinori didn't have any time to comment or ask questions.

A bright smile spread across Izuku's face. 'What she said was true.'

The sword disappeared from his hand and he knelt down, his eyes gaining their golden glow once again.

But nothing happened. All Toshinori saw was Izuku's smile grow wider after a few seconds of kneeling down, before he promptly sat down and disappeared.

Toshinori panicked going over and checking where Izuku had sat down. 'Oh no, he just woke up. Inko is on his way here what will she think?' He was brought out of his thoughts with a light tap on his shoulder, he spun around to see Izuku standing there behind him.

"Are you alright Toshinori? Sorry for disappearing on you. It seems my entire body comes with me now, not just a physical embodiment of my consciousness." He spoke with a thoughtful look on his face.

*Clang*

Izuku and Toshinori looked towards the door, the metal water bottle rolling to a stop at Izuku's feet.

"Izuku?"

A warm smile spread across his face, a fear small tears escaping his eyes as the only indication he wasn't fully calm right now. "Hi mom, I'm bac-" His greeting was stopped when the small green haired woman came barreling into him with a hug. Toshinori watched from the side as the two properly reunited.

The mother and son hug only stopped after about 5 minutes, but it felt a lot longer for the two involved. Behind them a man, presumably the doctor in charge of Izuku, stepped through the doorway. "It's good to see you're awake young man, how are you feeling?"

"I'm as well as I'll ever be, especially now that I'm back."

"Good, good. I'll go and start preparing some tests, just to make sure you are actually as well as you look. I'll let you three catch up, in the mean time, is there anyone you'd like me to contact? Let them know he is awake?" The doctor looked at Inko, the woman being the only person that really knew anyone that would want to hear the news.

"We can contact them ourselves, I'd like to start talking to everyone again a few at a time." Izuku spoke first, Inko giving him a warm motherly smile of understanding.

"As he said doctor, we'll contact them ourselves, thank you."

The doctor nodded, "Please use the buzzer if you need anything, I'll inform the nurses too so that they aren't surprised."

After the doctor left, Inko properly introduced Izuku to Toshinori, as well as saying they were dating. She told him of what had happened after he fell unconscious.

Apparently, All Might himself had been chasing the villain, only to arrive just before Izuku had slipped into unconsciousness and had woken up in the other world. All Might had then decided to front the bill for his hospital stay, saying that he felt guilty that he hadn't gotten there in time. Toshinori bringing her this news was how the two had met.

"How did you know my name? I hadn't told you it before yet you called me by it when you reappeared." This was the first time during the conversation that Toshinori spoke up, previously only nodding along as Inko told the story.

"Oh. Yeah." Izuku looked slightly sheepish at that, the look didn't really match his slimmer face, though it would have looked right at home if he hadn't changed. "You know how there are stories of people hearing things in a coma? I have small snippets from over the months of conversations happening in whichever room I was in. It's how I knew your name and that you were dating already."

He looked deeper into Toshinori's eyes, the man flinching as Izuku's eyes narrowed. "Also, does mom know?"

"A-about what?" Toshinori felt a small unbidden bead of sweat roll down his forehead.

"About your... How should I phrase it? Second life?"

Toshinori's eyes widened slightly before hardening into a glare at Izuku, "How do you know about that?"

Inko looked visibly worried as the two men in her life looked like they were about to fight, "Uhhh, what's going on? What secret Toshi?"

Izuku sighed before turning back to his mom, "It's nothing, it's very clearly a secret. One that means a lot to him, and likely the world. We can discuss it somewhere more privately if... Toshi would like to." He said his mothers nickname for Toshinori in a very teasing way, one that could very likely be turned on him sometime in the future.

Toshinori let out a sigh combined with a groan at the tease, "Yes that would probably be for the best."

Inko was the last of the three to let out a sigh as the tension from the room disappeared. "Well then, lets change the subject shall we? What happened to you Izuku, what were all the cuts, and bruises, and... holes from?" The second to last word made Izuku grimace, he remembers that wound very clearly. It also brought back up a very unpleasant reminder that they would have witnessed all of his injuries happen, with no way of knowing what caused them or being able to stop them.

"It's a very long story. One that, as I said to Toshinori earlier, could wait until we were in a more comfortable setting."

The doctor at the door made himself known, "I would also like to be made aware of that, your quirk seemed to quite a number on you."

Izuku turned to him, "Of course, though I can say with absolute certainty that I wont be getting wounds like that ever again." Izuku lied through his teeth on that one, not that anyone could tell.

"That's good to hear. We are ready to perform the tests now, just a few general ones for overall bodily health and wellbeing, along with some physicals therapy to make sure you're good to go. Though I don't see any reason to believe you really need it."

Izuku looked to his mom, "Would you like to be there with me?" Inko looked worried at the mention of tests, preparing herself for the worst even though it logically wouldn't happen.

"If I can be then yes." She said, turning to face the doctor.

"That's absolutely fine, they can all be done in here except for the physical therapy. Would you like some more time or shall we start the tests?"

"We can always talk later, and I'd prefer to leave sooner rather than later." Izuku said while stretching his arms.

The doctor stepped aside and a nurse stepped in with a cart full of medical supplies. They did a simple blood pressure test as well as a blood draw, tested a few bodily functions as well as getting a cheek swab and urine sample. The nurse took them away before the doctor lead them to the physical therapy office. There another doctor tested his reflexes as well as got him to do some simple stretches and some light exercise on a tread mill, followed by some light lifting using some dumbbells.

Before the hour was up, they were back in Izuku's hospital room, the doctor standing there with small stack of papers in hand.

"Well Mr. Midoriya, I'm glad to say you have a clean bill of health as well as what must be a record of some kind for the fastest coma recovery over 6 months. We will need you to update you quirk registry though, considering you now know what it actually does."

Izuku looked thoughtful for a second before nodding, a sign for the doctor to continue.

"Other than that there is no other reason for you to be here. When you're ready just come down to the front desk and get your mother to sign the release forms." He smiled and left a small stack of papers on the desk next to him. "These are for you to keep, look at them, store them, what ever you see fit. If you have any questions just ask."

Izuku stood up before suddenly standing in a different set of clothing, the hospital gown folded neatly in his arms. He now sports probably the closest thing he had to every day wear. For a medieval noble maybe. He had a well fitting white dress shirt with the long flowing arms you'd see in a cartoon, some smart black pants as well as shin high leather boots. A green handkerchief tied around his neck beneath the collar. Above it all was a royal red jacket with gold linings, though he immediately took that off and it returned to wherever it had come from.

"Izuku! Is that part of your quirk?" Inko was hopping up and down in front of him, her baby had a quirk just like he always wanted, though she hadn't seen the other part like Toshinori had.

"Yeah, a part of it. Come on, I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to get out of here." Izuku then lead the way down to the front desk, stepping out of the elevator he was immediately met with a face full of ash blonde hair. Though instead of falling to the ground, Izuku caught the person that had leapt at them and caught them in a hug. "Hello Kacchan." He looked up and saw the girl's mother and father standing off to the side with warm smile's on their faces. "Hey Aunty Mitsuki, Uncle Masaru."

"Hey kiddo, good to see you're awake." Mitsuki responded, Masaru just nodding.

Katsumi started waving her legs around, trying to find the ground and failing.

She finally lets go and finds herself falling nearly a foot to the ground. She then looks back up at Izuku before gaining a light dusting of red on her cheeks.

"I knew you wouldn't die, I'd have killed you myself if you did." Not making any sense as she punched him in the arm and marching away pouting when he doesn't even flinch.

Izuku remembers to the time he had accidentally listened in on Katsumi crying to herself at his bedside, it was an emotional moment for her as well as him when he finished resting after his fight with Godrick.

Izuku walks over to the front desk and starts going through the release forms with Inko. After the two are done, they all start heading back to the Bakugou residence. Inko had been staying there since not long after Izuku was hospitalized, as a way of lightening her load as she went through that period.

The group get inside and sit down to relax while Masaru makes tea for all of them. Katsumi tries to ask for coffee but is told to try something other than liquid darkness for once.

The topic of conversation begins in a light tone. The Bakugous talking about how things went for them during the 9 months outside of the stuff Inko already told him. Katsumi brings up how the school moved on without a second glance at Izuku's sudden hospitalization and coma and how much it pissed her off. The others didn't add to it but their faces showed they were on the same page in that regard.

Izuku sighed lightly as he placed his cup down with a clink, "I suppose I'm going to have to figure out what I'm going to do in regards to schooling. Education wasn't exactly my focus these past months."

Everyone had a small chuckle at the perceived joke.

"What was it like?"

"Katsumi!" Mitsuki not so quietly yells.

"What!? It's not like I want to experience a coma to find out what it's like."

"It's insensitive."

"It's alright Aunty, really. I don't really mind people asking about my coma because it didn't really fell like one." He finishes his tea before adopting a more serious expression. "But, the details of what I went through are not something that people of this world are quite ready for, so I need everything I'm about to tell you be kept a complete secret without my permission."

The group all feel the weight of those words hit them a bit harder than they were expecting them to, especially for Toshinori. The teenager in front of them seemed to immediately aged 40 years like an old war spy spilling government secrets.

Seeing no one making a motion other than small nods, he began.

"Ok first, some background information that will make some future information easier to understand." His eyes begin to glow, the same golden glow Toshinori had seen back in the hospital room. "My quirk was useless in this world, the basic function of it was to allow me to see something that no one else would ever be able to. However, the thing I could see did not exist in this world, making my quirk completely useless. Until the day I was attacked, someone saved me then, revealing what my quirk was in possibly the vaguest way you could imagine. When I fell into a coma, my consciousness was transferred from this world to another. I awoke in a strange land where 99% of what I met tried to end my life upon first sight."

A few gasps came from the two motherly figures, Masaru, Toshinori and Katsumi listening intently with paling faces.

"In this world, an event happened that shook it to its core and flipped it on its head. But with it came the need for a leader, a king... A Lord. After finding myself in an unknown land, knowing and trusting no one, I did the only thing I could. Over the first week I had many firsts. My first weapon, my first magic spell I learnt to cast... My first Kill. And as unfortunate as it may seem, it didn't stop with one, and it would never end with one. There were many powers fighting over the large threads of power let loose after the shattering. Giants, Demigods, mortals that fused themselves with the bodies of others to make themselves stronger, creatures risen from the crimson rot that covered the south eastern area of the continent."

A quick glance up from the tea pot showed faces that were likely on the verge of throwing up, along side a single face that said far more about his secret hero career than he let on.

"I fought and killed my way through thousands of different beings, living and undead, construct and beast... human and god. All of it almost seems pointless at the end, looking back along the amount of destruction I caused I only wish I could have done it differently. Though I know that It couldn't have been done any other way."

He sat in silence for a few moments before looking up, his eyes no longer glowing, but instead brimming with tears. "But I don't regret a single moment of it now that I'm sitting here with you, I would do it all again if I had to."

He is very quickly enveloped in a group hug. Katsumi and Inko hugging from both sides before Mitsuki and Masaru form the next ring. Even Toshinori has his hand on his shoulder as he stands behind the couch.

"Thank you, all of you. It's great to be back and all, but I'm afraid it doesn't end there." He moves to the opposite couch so that every one is now opposite him. "What comes next is the most important, mainly because it pertains to this world as well as a secret that is not mine to tell here." He looks at Toshinori, "I will need your help for this, using 'All' of your capabilities. Do you wish to discuss this here?"

Toshinori sighs before speaking, "I trust that those here can keep my secret just as well as Young Izuku's" With small huff and a flash of steam, standing in the gaunt mans place is the number one hero, All Might. The overly large suit from before now barely holding it together on his frame.

Katsumi's jaw will need to get scraped off the floor from how hard it hit. "What. The. Fuck." 'Appropriate'

"Toshi?" Inko could barely hold it in with the amount of startling news she'd been getting today. First her son wakes up from a 9 month coma, said son has be fighting for his life on another world, nearly dying in the process and now she finds she has the most powerful and successful hero in the world as her boyfriend. She's surprised she is still standing.

All Might sighs, "I'm sorry for keeping such a secret from you all, I hope you can understand all the of the implications of this." He looks Izuku in the eyes, blazing blue meeting glowing gold. "You said there is something more."

"Yes, I did. Something I didn't mention before is how the laws of things worked within that world. There is a power known as Grace, it is the governing power within that world, trumping all others in terms of capabilities and power. Because of that power there is a weird temporal effect on the time streams. Hundreds, if not thousands of timelines interwoven. Starting at a single point and diverging in an exponential amount of ways. But the barriers between the timelines are fickle things. They found ways to breach those barriers, forcing themselves into other timestreams with intent to kill the inhabitant. This had never happened to me before, because the grace did not reach here. Earth's detachment from grace was a barrier in its own way."

He sits back down, looking like a man about to tell someone their family has died. "But my return here has bridged that gap, the grace followed my consciousness back to earth and formed that connection, meaning that now-"

"Those that can cross over will be able to come here as well." All Might finished.

"Exactly."

Toshinori stepped outside, phone already ringing in his hand. The door clicked shut and the phone picked up.

"Good afternoon Yagi, how is the young Midoriya doing?" The ever chipper voice of Nezu spoke over the phone.

Toshinori didn't want to know how U.A.'s principal seemed to know his every move and thought.

"He's doing well. Great in fact. He has more muscle on him now than when I brought him in there 9 months ago."

"Good, very good. Now what has come up that has you on the phone with me rather than spending time with them?" Nezu got straight to the point after their small talk, like always.

"He has brought something to my attention, something that even he doesn't know the full extent of, which only makes it more dangerous." Toshinori spoke seriously. Nezu responded in kind.

"Go on."

"If he's fine with it I'd like for him to explain it, he would do a much better job. But if there's one thing to take away from it, we'll be facing a lot more than just regular villains in the coming months, perhaps till it simply becomes part of how humanity functions."

"So I can assume they are hostile?" Nezu asked rhetorically. A few moments passed, "Thank you Yagi. I will perform some preparations on my end. In the mean time, please extend an invitation to Midoriya from me. I'd like to talk to him in the future if at all possible."

"Of course."

"Great. Now go and enjoy the rest of the day, I'll be talking to you again soon."

"Goodbye Nezu." Toshinori said briefly before the call terminated.

A sigh escaped him, 'This is already giving me a bad feeling.'

<An undetermined location>

"Interesting. And this was done with out technology?" A figure obscured in darkness said as he listened intensely to a cloaked figure who was practically coated in red mist.

"Compared to what you have simply keeping you alive? We may as well have just rubbed sticks together to make fire." The figure spoke back.

"Fascinating." He pressed a button on his arm chair, "Doctor, prepare a lab, something has come up that will take the Nomu research to new heights.

<Bakugou/Midoriya Residence>

When Toshinori had gotten back inside, all the occupants of the household were sitting comfortably on the couches watching TV. Surprisingly, instead of a show or movie, it was the most recent showing of the hero rankings. They had run through a small slideshow of the top 100, with commentators bringing up each heroes achievements and most popular case for the half year. They then had their full rundown of the top 10, Gang Orca sliding in at number 10, followed by Ryukyu at 9th, Yoroi Musha at 8th, a hero named DeadSet in 7th, Crust in 6th, Edgeshot in 5th, Best Jeanist in 4th. The top three were still the top 3 Izuku remembered them being in the last hero rankings he'd seen before his "coma". Hawks in 3rd place, Endeavor in his eternal 2nd place spot right below All Might in 1st place.

When All Might's spot was announced Izuku paused the replay and sat back in his seat next to Katsumi who was trying to internally deny how comfortable it was leaning against him.

"I can't believe the number one has been coming over for dinner and we didn't know. I'd have cooked better food." Mitsuki said, kick starting the conversation.

"Your food is lovely Mitsuki, I simply wish I had the stomach to eat more, heh." Toshinori responded, grasping his left side at the thought of it.

"Wait, can you not eat more when your in your All Might form?" Katsumi asked.

"Unfortunately not, Young Katsumi. Do you mind if we switch topics? Izuku could we perhaps have a demonstration of what you showed me in the hospital room?" All Might said, steering clear from talking about his injury to much.

"Sure" Izuku replied enthusiastically, walking around the couch to Toshi while pulling out the same red potion from the hospital. "But first I want to test something, drink this."

"That looks like a health potion from a video game." Katsumi said as Toshi took the bottle from Izuku tentatively.

"Odd that, cause that's what it is."

Those words seemed to instill Toshinori with enough confidence to take a swig of the potion. For a moment nothing happened, not until his mid torso started to emanate the same golden glow that Izuku's eyes still were.

*sigh* Toshinori exhaled in relief, he hadn't realized how much pain he had been putting up with on a daily basis since his injury. "Wow. That thing does wonders, far better then any medicine has done." The empty bottle dissipates from his hands.

"I'd hope so," Izuku said walking to stand in front of the TV, "it got me through some pretty bad injuries while I was away. Probably works better on fresh wounds than old scars. Now, what to show you..."

Izuku sifted through all his items within the grace he held, wondering which would be more wow factor than destruction factor.

"Ah. Here we go." Izuku summoned his prized possession, a large dark blue great sword. Not his most powerful item by far, but something that meant the most to him as a gift.

The room darkened, as if shrouded in twilight. The sword giving of a faint light blue glow and the onlookers gasping and 'Oohing' at the blade. Izuku's eyes drifted all the way from the tip down to her ring resting on the ring finger of the hand gripping the handle. Inko's eyes seemed to follow her son's and suddenly her face switched to that of utter shock and surprise.

"Zuku... i-is that a... r-ring?" she stuttered out

Izuku snapped out of his reminiscing at the mention of the ring, he dismissed the sword and held up the hand. "This? Yes, and I'm very lucky to have it." The darkness of the room faded with the dismissal of the sword and the others got a better look at the topic of conversation.

"Izuku," Mitsuki started, "you know what a ring on the ring finger means right?"

Izuku nodded. "Of course. And it's true, I found someone while I was there. To my knowledge she holds no feelings for me, however as her consort eternal, I will do anything in my power to assist her. Though where she is now, I doubt she has need for my services." Izuku said gazing fondly at the ring.

"ARGH!" Katsumi stormed off to her room, speaking no further words.

The parents exchanged various looks while Izuku watched Katsumi leave in confusion.

'What was that about?" He asked.

"Nothing" the four said in unison.

~~~~
Toshinori and Izuku were currently heading towards UA. With Toshinori driving of course.
They had taken a few days of relaxing and catching Izuku up on recent events, but it was time for Izuku to get prepared. Thankfully the president of UA already wanted to talk to him.
As they entered the school campus they were met outside by a really disheveled looking homeless guy with a weird scarf around his neck.
"Good, you're here. Come on, the rat is waiting."
As he led them inside through the winding corridors, Izuku couldn't help but feel a little bit of his old self spark within him at the thought of walking the halls of UA.
One final turn later and the man stood infront of a door, as he raised his hand to knock the door slid open.
"Come in, come in. The water just finished boiling."
They entered the room and sat behind a desk far to comically for his small size sat President Nezu of UA.
"Welcome to UA, Mr Midoriya, and thank you for accepting my offer to speak with you on such short notice. I know you would likely rather stay with your family and friends considering how recently your time in hospital finished." Nezu started the conversation with the normal niceties.
"And thank you for extending the offer. While yes I would prefer to spend more time with them there are more pressing issues to attend to." Izuku jumped straight to the point.
"Indeed. I have invited my 'unofficial vice president' Aizawa here to sit in if you don't mind. He is very... 'intrenched' in the underground side of heroics and I believe his insights could be of use."
"Of course. I'm grateful, this is making my time spreading information very efficient." He turned to Aizawa, "If you do go sharing this, it goes without saying that this information shouldn't be given to just anyone."
Aizawa grunted in affirmation, "Of course, to do so would be illogical. Let's get this over with so I can still get some sleep before afternoon heroics."
"Right... First things first, what can you expect to fight. Nothing these Tarnished will or can do will match what you know as true or false." He cast a glintstone shard into the air and let it hover above his hand, "They will have magic," he brought out a small curved red dagger that looked like a person's spine. "and weapons unlike any you have ever seen."
"Magic? To what extent?" Nezu asked.
"To show you that, I'm going to need a larger space than your office. So let's maybe wait till later."
He dismissed both the shard and the dagger, "Next, is their knowledge. There are monsters, that are created by grafting large amounts of limbs to a single body. They are horrific creatures, ones that I hope to never see here. They have the combined strength of all the limbs grafted on, each acting as simply more and more muscle. They are not for the faint of heart." He materialized a small page that he had found within the catacombs of Godrick's castle, showing instructions on the grafting process.
Once he was sure Aizawa wasn't going to lose his lunch he continued, "Next is their appearance. If you can see them, they will almost always be coated in a red mist. There are items that will make them be able to blend in though I'm not sure how they will work on this world."
"Great, giant masses of arms and legs, and now enemies with their only identifying feature being easily disguisable." Aizawa said sarcastically. "Next you'll be saying there are ghosts too."
There was a silence from Izuku as he materialized a bell and a small bowl filled with what looked to be ash.
"Oh for fucks sake."
*Ring ding ding* a small blob appears on the floor in front of Izuku, before the blob slowly grows and shifts before taking the exact form of Izuku. Thoughts face was noticeably lacking the expression of a human.
No quicker than it appeared, it slowly disintegrated into ash and flowed back into Izuku’s palm.
"There are, unfortunately. I'm not sure the extent of their item using capabilities here yet, but they were pretty limited in the other world."
Nezu was watching this all unfold with rapt attention, writing down notes on everything. When he finished his current passage he set his pen down and faced Izuku. "Well this has been very informative. If you don't mind, I would also like to see your own capabilities too."
"Certainly." Izuku replied, "Though I do still recommend we go somewhere bigger."
"Hehe, of course. Follow me." Nezu promptly jumped into the scarf around Aizawas neck as he grumbled and began to make his way out of the office.
They shortly arrived at training hall Gamma. Waiting for them was the hero Cementoss.
Throughout the hall were some concrete pillars raised as targets for Izuku.
"Good morning Ishiyama, thank you for meeting us here." Nezu greeted the tall block of human shaped concrete.
"It's no problem, may I ask who this young man is? I assume you want to see what he is capable of." He said, getting up from his seat on the side of the gym.
"Correct. This is Izuku Midoriya. He may not look it but he has just woken up from a 9 month coma and has had a rather powerful quirk awakening." Nezu explained.
He turned to Izuku, "Please do try to show us your best, but I would prefer if the gym itself stayed intact."
"Sure thing."
Izuku walked towards the center if the gym, standing infront of on e of the stone pillars.
'Hmm... I know that Glintstone and Carian sorceress work... How about Gravity sorcery?'
Izuku raised his hand above his head, a purple sigil forming before collapsing in on itself and forming a large stone above his head. As he held it there the stone grew larger and larger before he let the Boulder fly.
It impacted roughly 20 meters away from him and created a large crater in the floor and either crushing the pillars or sending them flying across the gym in large chunks.
'Good, it definitely seems as though my limiters have been removed when it comes to magic. As long as I have the mana I can spend more to make any spell more powerful... Screw it, let's try that.'
Izuku summoned the Moonlight Greatsword again, the gym darkening despite the clear skies right outside.
The dim light of the gym was soon replaced by a blue glow as Izuku cast 'Carian Greatsword'. The magically manifested sword started off coating the greatsword in his hands, but Izuku forced more mana into the spell and the sword grew in response.
In just three pulses of mana the sword was already at its normal maximum size from when he was still in the lands between. But Izuku pushed on, and the sword grew again. And again. And again...
And again.
The sword was still very light, it was only magic after all. But the sword was far to large to swing with out destroying something, intentionally or not. He didn't need to swing it to test it. The Lands Between may have been impervious to magical attacks, but there is no way earth was the same.
He dissipated the greatsword and the magic with it.
He turned to face the group watching to apologize and saw them slack jawwed. Well, Aizawa was hiding behind his scarf but his wide and now fully awake eyes said his reaction was the same as the others.
"Hehe, sorry about that. I've never actually pushed a spell that hard before, I could have gone bigger but..." He said, getting slightly sheepish towards the end.
"Well, thank you for not destroying my gym like I asked." Nezu was the first out of his slack jawwed stupor. "I think we have had enough demonstration for today, we can see some more when you take the entrance exam coming up in a few weeks." He said that while giving Aizawa a sidewards glance.
"Of course." Izuku said.
Aizawa groaned, he already knew he would have problems next year with this one student, then there was another 19...
'I should hand in my notice.'
Notes:
For those wondering, I came up with DeadSet as a hero on the fly since there was no concrete number 7 hero for rankings pre-canon. So I'll give you a run down of his "stats".
Hero Name: DeadSet
Real name: Hidden
Age: Hidden
Hero ranking: #7
Quirk: Grav Lock
Can attach invisible "tethers" to objects and himself, including living beings, that constantly pull the two objects closer together. The closer the objects, the stronger the pull.
This allows him to pull others towards him, himself towards others, redirect or catch physical attacks and even fly under certain circumstances. If the object he tethers to has more mass than himself, he is pulled towards it. If the mass of the other object exceeds a certain amount then the effect of the pull effectively makes him weightless, allowing him to (with control and the right environment) essentially fly.
Deadset wears a plated body suit providing large amounts of protection and plenty of shock absorbing padding within the parts of the suit he strikes with. His forearms, hands, feet and lower legs are all fully plated and rather heavy. The body suit is black with purple highlights, the purple color of the plating is affected by a quirk that allows the color to ripple like water as different amounts of force affect it, adding a disorienting effect to the suit. His helmet looks highly reminiscent of the helmet from Metroid, though matching the color scheme.
DeadSet's main fighting style involves affecting the opponents swings and hits by tethering their limbs to his much heavier suit mid-swing causing them to miss. This complemented with them getting pulled into his own attacks for more power makes him a formidable skirmisher.
He tends to patrol the center of larger cities, his grappling tether techniques not quite as effective for mobility without taller structures around.
Feel free to use this in any fan fictions you happen to include him in, maybe even give Izuku this quirk in a fic. It matches up with Inko's quirk and we all know Izuku could do great things with it.
Till next time.
Chapter 3: The first invasion.
Summary:
A small taste of fluff and a dash of conflict.
"Well, thank you for not destroying my gym like I asked." Nezu was the first out of his slack jawwed stupor. "I think we have had enough demonstration for today, we can see some more when you take the entrance exam coming up in a few weeks." He said that while giving Aizawa a sidewards glance.
'I should hand in my notice.'
There was 2 weeks till the entrance exam, Izuku and Katsumi were excited.
Izuku, surprisingly to others but not himself, didn't have much to catch up on as he was already well ahead of where he should currently be. Nevermind how far ahead he was 9 months ago.
It also helped that he had decided to focus more on magic than his body during his coma. Turns out your mana capacity directly correlates to higher brain function, and being able to simply increase your mana using runes and grace increased your brain's capabilities along side it. And that didn't included his high Intellect stat for his spells.
Izuku was currently travelling through Musutafu's 3rd largest mall. It wasn't very active, since school was still in session, but that meant he wouldn't run into any unsavory old schoolmates.
Izuku window shopped many of the stores, his mom had given him some money to spend but he never planned on using it. He stepped inside a store for the first time that day, intrigued by the rack of records of some older bands he had gotten into from his father's old stash.
As he stepped inside the punk themed music store he was greeted by the girl behind the register.
"Hey, welcome to Jirock & Roll. Let me know if you need anything."
She was fairly short compared to Izuku, straight purple hair kept short around the sides and two long bangs framing her face. She also had what looked like earphone jacks on her earlobes, the right one also lifting up and shaking when she raised her hand and waved. She looked to be around his age, his actual age, and the textbooks infront of her on the counter meant she was likely studying up for an exam.
"Will do, thanks." He stepped around to the records and started flicking through them.
It was just the two of them in the store, old school records and CD's like these were slowly falling out of style in favor of online services.
After a few minutes, the girl at the counter let out a small groan and slouched over the text book infront of her.
"Tough subject?" Izuku asked.
The girl jolted up, as if she had forgotten he was there.
"Uhh yeah. Kinda, just not really used to these kinds of mainstream exams."
"Mainstream?" Izuku said as he gathered up the few CD's he liked and brought them to the counter.
"Yeah." She said as she put the book and test to the side. "Our family was kinda always on tour so I never had a proper education. Homeschooling and online courses. But now, cause I want to get into a certain school, we settled down and I have to learn a bunch of stuff I didn't have to for my other courses."
"On tour? Wow, must yave been cool." Izuku said as he placed the items down.
She started to ring them up. "It was, yeah. It wasn't normal in the slightest but it was our life." She did her thing with the register, "5 CD's is $45."
Izuku grabbed his wallet. "So what school are you going for? I'm going to UA myself." He handed her a 50.
She raised an eyebrow as she took the note. "Going to? You sound do sure of yourself." She handed him the $5 note as change.
"Heh, yeah well. You could say I've been training quite a bit for it." She placed the items in a bag with the receipt and handed it to him.
He reached for the bag but stopped...
'You are being invaded.'
Izuku knew that voice anywhere. The amount of invaders he had to fight in his time asleep numbered close to the hundreds.
He turned to see a man coated in red mist rising from the ground outside.
"Hey, what's up? Why are you leaking a gold mist?" The girl asked.
The invader raised a bow and the arrow on its string crackled with lightning. The arrow was aimed directly at him.
"GET DOWN!!"
The girl turned and saw the arrow as Izuku leapt the counter and knocked her to the ground. The arrow flew through the window of the store, above their heads and into the back wall.
Izuku was already back on his feet, his favorite set of armor instinctively appearing over his body as he stepped out of the store.
Izuku now stood across from the invader. His appearance looking like that of a holy knight as the golden mist flowed from his body as he wore his suit of Carian armor.
"Hey, you two. Stop using your quirks immediately and put down your weapons." A security guard stepped up to Izuku's right side.
The invader drew a katana whose blade was darker than than the mist flowing from its body.
'Shit, not another Rivers user.'
"Sir," Izuku called out," I recommend you stay away. This person is dangerous and will kill you if given the chance."
"Yeah yeah buddy, a hero is already on the way. You two are going away for a long..." The guard was interupted when Izuku slammed him out of the way of a spectral slash from the invader.
"Sir, I won't say this again, please stay away. I will handle this."
The guard responded by standing up and running away.
Izuku looked back at the intruder, they seemed to finally notice just how different a city mall was to the Lands Between.
"Don't get too comfortable. You won't be here for long." Izuku called out as he summoned his staff.
He quickly summoned five floating swords, followed by five more, then another ten, then another 30.
Fifty blue swords floated above Izuku. The invader stepped back slightly, he was was rightfully shocked. They clearly weren't aware of the removed limit on magic.
Izuku sent the swords forward one at a time in quick succession. The invader tried to roll out of the way and proved Izuku's thought. Rolling was not a garunteed way to survive here. Maybe an effect of grace to give the Tarnished a chance.
But no sooner had the invader timed its normally perfect roll had the first sword struck true. Then the second, and the third. All the way through to the 50th sword. Each and every sword stuck out like pins in a cushion.
With that, the invader turned completely to mist and disappeared. The golden mist stopped flowing from Izuku and he put his staff away.
Izuku willed his armor away before a new threat made itself known.
"Stop right there villain!" This shout was accompanied by a large fist quickly making friends with Izuku’s gut as he turned to face the voice and approaching footsteps.
Izuku righted himself in midair and landed on his feet in a crouched position. He willed a different set of armor on this time, the large horns protruding from the front of the armor and over his shoulder providing a comfortable stability. The armor looked bulky and unwieldy, but it's strike defense and granted poise was high. And against Death Arms, who had just shown up, he wouldn't be knocked around like that again.
Chapter 4: Dealing with the "hero".
Summary:
A battle of wits against an unarmed opponent.
"Stop right there villain!" This shout was accompanied by a large fist quickly making friends with Izuku’s gut as he turned to face the voice and approaching footsteps.
Izuku righted himself in midair and landed on his feet in a crouched position. He willed a different set of armor on this time, the large horns protruding from the front of the armor and over his shoulder providing a comfortable stability. The armor looked bulky and unwieldy, but it's strike defense and granted poise was high. And against Death Arms, who had just shown up, he wouldn't be knocked round like that again.
~~~~

Izuku contemplated on how to handle this. No doubt a dispatch call out of a man surrounded with golden mist fighting a man shrouded in red mist would alert those he had discussed with.

But how to stall for them to get here?

He glanced back to the music store he was just in and saw the girl there in the doorway. He remembered the earphone jacks and took a chance. Hopefully she had more to her sound based quirk than earphones on her earlobes.

(Whispering) "Hey, it's me. Can you get your phone out and start recording? I need to stall him till an associate shows up. A civilian recording his actions will make him think at least once before trying to fight."

She nodded and began pulling out her phone.

"What was that? If you’re taunting me you'll have to speak louder." Called out Death Arms. "I just saw you kill a man. Man the press is gonna eat this capture up." Death Arms charged at him, fist raised for a right hook. Izuku stood and took the blow, the armor taking all the force and leaving him shifted slightly backwards. Death Arms recoiled in both shock and pain as he massaged his arm.

'*sigh* Media coverage, always media coverage.'

Izuku saw the girl with her phone pointed at them and he decided to start stalling proper.

"Kill? That would imply they were alive to begin with. Besides, it was self defense, he attacked me first. Then he nearly killed the security guard. I'm the hero here."

Now circling around him Death Arms took the bait. "HA! Hero? Heroes don't kill people on purpose. Only vill..."

Izuku joined him in circling the plaza. "Of course they do. There are plenty of people that are beyond help and a threat to society. That man was one of those people. He showed up with the sole intention of killing me today. And his nonchalant way of swinging at the guard shows he would happily have killed more."

"Ye... yeah well. It's still illegal to do hero work without a license, even if you do get away with killing him. You're still a vigilante."

"Hmmm. Am I?" Izuku let his armor unequip as he returned to his casual clothing. "What's the exact law against vigilantism again? Cause I learnt that it's only illegal to use your quirk to perform hero work without a license... I'm not using my quirk."

"Bullshit." Death Arms called out as he charged once again at the now unarmored Izuku. "If you’re not using your quirk then what's with all the fancy weapons."

'I wonder if he realizes he just framed a question as a statement... No. No he didn't.' Izuku dodged swing after swing of the heroes with ease. He saw a crowd start to gather around the edges of the plaza.

"The weapons are from a place I can travel to when I use my quirk." Not a lie but not the truth either. "But I did not use my quirk during that fight. Therefore, there was no act of vigilantism."

"You still committed murder. You're *huff* still a villain." Death Arms had been swinging for a minute straight at this point. All while chasing Izuku as he lead him around the plaza like a bull.

"Where is the body? Who did I kill? What's their name? All of these are questions you need to answer before you can convict me of murder and label me a villain."

Death Arms was angry now. He was being made fun of, and he didn't like it. As a hero, he wouldn't stand for it.

"Argh! I saw you do it, thats enough reason as any other. As the first hero on scene, I decide how to handle any villain I encounter. And you," his swing went wide, "Need." So did that one. "To be" and that one. Izuku gave him a light tap on his head and leapt back to safety.

"ARGH!!! I'll beat you within an inch of death you cheeky brat!" Death Arms finally stopped giving chase and roared at the top of his lungs.

The crowd that had been gathering gasped at the sudden outburst from the hero.

Only now did Death Arms realize what just happened and he sweat dropped.

"Well now. That is very unbecoming of a hero. To bad it was all on video too... That's going to go viral I reckon."

Izuku turned to face the group of police officers parting through the crowd behind him. Followed by the news crews of about 5 different stations.

Oh yeah... Viral.
