Chapter Text

The dark mirror spoke, it was to tell you what it saw at the core of your being, what house you were to go to at this strange magical academy, but instead it stated what you were afraid it would. That you had no magic and didn’t belong in this school. You knew that you never had magic, but there was always a chance that the carriage chose you for a reason, right?
Wrong. you were brought here by mistake, and worse is no one knows how to get you home. the headmage, Crowley, hadn’t even heard of your homeland. He told you he wouldn’t give up on getting you home and that you could be a student until he found a way to get you home.
“But the mirror didn’t give me a dorm to go to?” you ask hoping he had a solution that was not simply throwing you out to the street.
“Simple, well give you whatever extra room we have!” he states simply “usually the dorms adjust to the number of students summoned, which means one of the dorms has an extra room by default. So let me check here….” He trails of looking through a book that seemed to appear out of nowhere.
“Aw yes, it appears from this moment on you shall attend nights raven college as a heartslabyul student!” he exclaims with a smile.

Outside the heartslabyul dorm is a seemingly endless garden. Headmage Crowley left you outside the gates to find my way around myself. ‘it’s a chance to make acquaintance with your dormmates!’ you remember his grin as he walked away.
So, it was up to you to find your own way to your room. The inside of the heartslabyul gates were a seemingly endless garden with thousands of flowers in bloom. You were never the type to stop and smell the roses, but you were amazed at how beautiful the florals were in this new strange world. It was magical!
Before even thinking it through you reached out and carefully picked one of the roses. A keepsake for such a bewildering day. But before you could even finish holding it to you face to smell it you heard a voice shout from behind you.
“Off with your head!” you turn to see a short redheaded boy pointing a pen at you screaming. He paused looking shocked, “why didn’t my spell work?”
“It isn’t very polite to scream at someone you don’t even know, where did you even come from?” you were irritated already with the madness of this world the last thing you needed was someone yelling their head off at you.
“It may not be polite, but its necessary when one of my students starts breaking rules before even entering the dorm!” he defended himself, growing redder by the second. “And that still doesn’t explain why my signature spell didn’t work on you!”
“How am I supposed to know the rules before I even meet the dorm leader? And its not my fault your stupid spell didn’t work, so just calm your tits!” you start getting fed up, you didn’t deserve such hostility from this guy. Just wait until you meet the dorm leader he would certainly be on your side in this conflict.
“I am the dorm leader! House warden rosehearts to be clear, so have some respect! And everyone should know the rules of the great queen of hearts so that’s no excuse!” shit, no dorm leader on your side this time. This was just great.
“Who in the hell is the queen of hearts! I’m not from whatever backwards world this is!” you scream back, holding back the tears threatening to burst since the black carriage kidnapped you.
“What do you mean? You’re talking nonsense” house warden rosehearts gives you a questioning look, beginning to soften when he hears the quivering in your voice.
“I don’t have magic! I don’t know where I am, Crowley doesn’t even know how or why I’m here, and when I decide to look on the bright side, I get yelled at by someone who didn’t even bother to talk to me first!” you start speaking and can’t stop. Hot tears starting to release from your eyes.
“what’s going on?” a taller man with green hair and glasses has now joined the very red and flustered housewarden. You try to pull yourself together, since first impressions are important, but the floodgates were open and there was no way you could close them now.
You see the shorter of the men whisper to his green haired companion, before promptly walking away.
“Hey, I’m trey, what’s your name?” the tall man bends down so his eye level with you, his eyes sympathetic.
“I’m (y/n)” you manage through sobs.
“Nice to meet you, (y/n), I’m the vice warden. How about we find your room for you?” his voice was so kind; you couldn’t help but calm down a bit. Not trusting your voice, you just nod you head and allow him to guide you to your dorm room.

Trey had stayed with you in your new dorm room, politely explaining what uniforms were for what occasion, and gave you a small tour of the dorm.
Once you finally were able to stop crying you felt comfortable enough to ask Trey questions.
“So, what did I do to make the house warden so angry?” you started there, knowing there were about a hundred more questions in your head.
“Hmmm? I guess it must’ve been the flower you picked, rule 228 states ‘no picking flowers on Wednesday’” he stated flatly.
“But I didn’t know that rule!” you started getting defensive again.
“you’re not from this world, correct?” Trey coolly brushed of your heated response.
“No, I’m not. Crowley doesn’t even know how I got here or how to get me home” I answer his inquiry, feeling my emotions threatening to come back up.
“Well, everyone from this world knows about the great seven. Each of the dorms are based on one of them. Heartslabyul is based on the Queen of Hearts. She has very strict rules. Riddle is a stickler for tradition. So, we all must follow those rules or its ‘Off with your head!” he ends with a halfhearted impression of the house warden.
“Riddle? Is that his first name? and he beheads us if we misbehave!?” I start getting alarmed.
Trey starts to chuckle “of course not. Its just the name for his signature spell. He seals away the rulebreakers magic until they make amends for their delinquency”
“that explains why it didn’t work, I have no magic to seal away, which probably made him more frustrated” I look back at the situation, not quite on his side, but with more understanding.
“Yeah, it didn’t help that you gave him attitude as well.” Trey flashes you a sly smirk
“I stand by my actions” I state pointing my nose up for comical effect.
After the conversation reached an end, Trey excused himself and you were left alone in your room. You went through all the events of that day, trying to make sense of it all. On thing did get you to smile, even though this was by far the hardest day of your life, and that was how flustered and angry riddle got at you smart-assery.
Maybe this world wasn’t all bad after all….
