Chapter Text
Regulus Black
Regulus walked into the large room in which the meeting was being held, took his place at the table, and started to make small talk with his friends Evan and Barty while they waited for The Dark Lord to arrive.
Now, Regulus Black was not easily surprised, but who he saw walk in the door truly shocked him to his core.
Close behind Voldemort, Regulus could clearly make out the shy form of Peter Pettigrew, and he felt his blood boil.
Was Peter betraying Sirius and the rest of his friends? Or was this all some elaborate ruse? What caused Peter to switch sides? Had he secretly been working against his friends this whole time? Regulus didn’t know the answer to any of those questions, but Merlin if he wasn’t going to find out.
Peter Pettigrew
Peter follows Voldemort into the meeting room and immediately spots Regulus Black. He and Regulus have never really been close. They spent a lot of time together back in second and third year, when Regulus hung out with the Marauders all the time, but they rarely spoke. Now, in this terrible meeting, he can feel Regulus’ eyes piercing through him, and he regrets not getting to know him, because maybe if he had, he would have a friend here.
Regulus Black
Regulus doesn’t take his eyes off Peter even once during the meeting, and the second its over he’s practically running across the room to catch up with Peter before he can get away.
He grabs Peters wrist and drags him into smaller side room, “What are you doing here Pettigrew? Does Sirius know?”
Peter blinks at him, “know what?”
Regulus shoves him into the wall and fixes him with a venomous glare, “That you’re a fucking traitor.”
Peter laughs lightly, “like you’re one to talk reggie.”
“Dont. Call. Me. Reggie.” He punctuates each word with a shove. “I hope you know that I won’t hesitate to tell Sirius about you being here today.”
“Why would he believe you? You’re a traitor too, Reggie.”
Regulus turns and walks towards the door, “Incendio”
He ignores the screams of pain from behind him as he walks away. He needs to get to Hogwarts. He needs to tell Sirius.
