Chapter 1: Ch 1: A Playground Marriage

Chapter Text

Peace was never an option.

A fact that was evidenced by Sasuke's parents getting called to the academy in the middle of the day.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice." Iruka bowed respectfully to Sasuke's parents.

"May I ask what's happened?" Mikoto gripped the bag she was carrying. The mother of two was nothing if not concerned. This was most irregular. Both her and her husband were just about summoned to the academy by frazzled uninformative instructors. "Sasuke's not one to cause trouble."

"Well, I wouldn't say he's caused trouble per say." Iruka smoothed out some papers on his desk. "He's just caused quite the commotion at recess with another boy in class."

"I see. Sasuke got into a fight then?" Mikoto pressed, surmising the worst. Her son knew better than to fight outside of the designated spar time. Though her son must just be at that age where being a ninja was the only thing on his mind. Still though something like that could have been a simple note home.

"No, uh, quite the opposite i'd say, actually." Iruka replied. "Both boys are just fine."

"The opposite?" Mikoto's eyebrows lifted in confused surprise. She looked to her husband with a small frown. This teacher had completely lost her. What could be the opposite of a fight?

"Your fellow instructor claimed it was urgent." Fugaku glared arms crossed in impatience. "Get on with it. What's he done?"

"Where to begin? Um...you see...your son, Sasuke, uh...I don't quite know how to put this..." Iruka scratched nervously at his cheek. Sweat dripped from his temple. "Perhaps it's best if you come with me and see it all for yourself. If you would follow me, please."

Apart from an arched eyebrow Fugaku's expression didn't change. He remained unimpressed as Iruka led him and his wife through the academy hallways. What a needless waste of time this had to be. When they reached the fenced playground outside Fugaku's eyes went wide-he was shook. Instantly. W-what the hell was happening here?

Their clan symbol was all over. It was carved into trees, drawn in the dirt, scratched onto the metal playground equipment, even looped onto the fence with red and white colored ninja wire. There was even a particularly giant rendition of the crest painted on the side of the school. However, these symbols were not an exact copy of the normal fan. The red top had been altered. An incomplete black swirl marred the usually clear crescent of red. A perfect combination of the Uzumaki and Uchiha clan crests.

Aside from the crests-which were alarming enough on their own with the sheer multitude that had been handcrafted-there were two rows of fresh picked camellia's leading down the center of the playground that halted at the base of a tree. Lanterns hung from tree branches, fireflies buzzing inside providing light. Between the rows of flowers were petals of blue and red roses all scattered upon the ground.

There were boxes piled high in one corner of the yard, almost as talle as the fence, tied with ribbons and topped with bows. On the opposite side was some sort of make your own Ramen station, as well as a sun and moon themed cake with seven tiers resting perfectly balanced on the teeter totter.

"Goodness, Sasuke did all this?" Mikoto's hand was on her chest in dismay. Aside from the decor that was leaving her husband reeling what was getting to Mikoto was the mob of children that filled the yard. The place was packed and bustling with kids. Did the academy even have this many? Did the village? They were all chattering about not even listening to the teachers who told them to get back to class.

"Oh uh, no ma'am. I believe all of his classmates chipped in to help. But he and another student organized this um..." Iruka cleared his throat. "...u-unauthorized event."

"And just what would this event be?" Fugaku demanded fist clenched at his side. He was seething. What was all this foolery? What had that damned boy done? Why were there so many children out in this yard? He couldn't comprehend what was happening.

"What? Don't recognize a wedding when you see one?" A little girl with sandy blonde hair in four pig tails chided. She was leaning on a fan twice her size, bangs almost getting in her eyes. Cake still smeared on the side of her face.

Fugaku blinked at the child. A Wedding?

"Geez, that guy." A young Nara boy shook his head. His hands were up behind his head. He gazed at the clouds sighingly. "Didn't even invite his parents to the big day. Sasuke's Troublesome with a capital T."

"Yes, well," A little boy who Fugaku actually almost mistook for his own youngest for half a second-spoke up, drawing in ink a picture of a sun and moon kissing in a little book. "Sasuke does have quite the pair on him, just imagine what they'll be like when they drop."

"Sai, sweetie, I don't think Sasuke's parents want to think about that." A blonde girl admonished him kindly rubbing his shoulder. Judging from the crest on her shirt she was from the Yamanaka clan. "Boundaries remember? We've talked about this?"

"Ah yes, we have. Sorry beautiful." The boy conceded with a smile.

"Fugaku!" The man in question turned to see a furious granny cat walking up to him. "Your boy has some nerve! Leaving this note telling my Tamaki to shirk her chores today-"

"That's not what happened grandma! Sasuke invited me to his wedding! It's an invitation. Put on your glasses." Tamaki insisted walking up to her grandmother with a little boy who Fugaku figured was an Inuzuka with the little dog trailing at his side.  "I had to come and show my respect! It's only right."

Granny cat huffed. "And who is this boy clinging to your side?"

"This is Kiba!" Tamaki smiled wrapping her arms around him. "He's my plus one. His dog brought the rings down the aisle! It was so cute."

"I am very sorry my son caused you such worry Granny Cat." Fugaku apologized. "He'll be punished for causing such a disruption you have my word."

"Punishment? You can't do that!" A little Hyuga girl ran up to him voice soft yet fierce. Byakugan glaring. "He's done nothing wrong!"

"Lady Hinata," A hyuga boy, this one a genin, caught her arm. "While I'm loving your new found confidence we do not yell at clan heads. It's disrespectful."

A girl with pink hair and emerald eyes lifted her chin. "We all know he doesn't deserve any."

"That may be but he is Sasuke's father." A boy with bushy eyebrows placed a hand on the pinkette's shoulder. "He shouldn't be disrespected on his son's wedding day."

"Neji's right. So is Lee." A girl with two brown buns nodded. "It's disrespectful to Sasuke."

Mikoto turned to Iruka. "Just where is Sasuke?"

"Uh...we've lost track of him. I'm sure he's still here somewhere." Iruka laughed nervously.

"He is. Why? It is because the newly weds do not have the funds for a honeymoon." An Aburame boy announced.

"Shino! Honey bug, I've got a hundred friends here!" A girl with wings flew around the Aburame boy. "We can get a dollar from everyone! That'll give them lots of funds."

"That's not a bad idea." Shino agreed. "But knowing them they'll just put it towards something to help the legion."

"Could someone please find my son." Fugaku pinched the bridge of his nose. What the hell was this legion Sasuke wanted to help?

"The love birds up in his tree with his groom." A boy with red hair announced. Arms crossed sand swirling around him holding a bouquet of the nicest smelling flowers.

Fugaku's heart stopped. "His Groom?"
This was worse than he thought.

The red head scoffed as he eyed Fugaku. He swirled away in some sand. His voice echoing behind. "And I thought my dad was bad..."
