Chapter 1: Intro, and warning from Sans

Hey kids, Sans here, sans the skeleton. We have a bit of a warning for you. Ruby does not own anything in these stories really other than the idea. Characters like me are from Undertale which was created by Toby Fox. You should try out his games sometime. I hear his new game DeltaRune is pretty fun to and not a bad time. However, my world is still a classic and you are welcome to Undertale anytime. However, if you do come down, I’ll be keeping an eye on you.
Other than that Ruby’s AU ECHOFALLS which is based off of not one, not two, but three AU’s. These AUs are Undertale, Underfell, and FlowerFell (the original)
The main reason why this AU has come into existence is because Ruby found out that FlowerFell, an AU that she used to love, was not what she thought it was. She was unable to read the original story because so many people had changed it into something where a younger version of Frisk and I were a in a relationship. Take note that version of frisk I am not into. They are too young, and I think of them as a kid because they are a kid in that world. In my original world they are a kid, and I wouldn’t actually date them because let’s be honest, I am somewhere in my late 20s to 30s as I am in pretty much every other AU that’s out there. So, dating a kid who is either 10years old or just barely into their teens is a bit disturbing for me as well as Ruby to even think about. She feels like she has been robbed and lied to and feels like everyone else who is on the same page as her and doesn’t know the truth is not ok.
It’s not wrong fully to ship me with Frisk if she is closer to my age. But in the FlowerFell AU the creator of that Universe stated that Frisk there was the same age as she is in my world of Undertale, and as we said, that is a bit disturbing. Don’t get me wrong I understand that Age is just a number and love is love but there is still a line. I follow that line because if they are younger than 18, I will not bother or date them and will instead make them fight good old dad because I do not want to nor will I date an underaged frisk. She is just a kid in my AU, as well as in the FlowerFell AU. Also, although Ruby doesn’t know this for sure, she is probably a kid in Underfell as well, AND we all know there isn’t a romance there. At least none that Ruby or I have heard.
FlowerFell, was originally created Siviosanei and was not a Frans shipping AU. It was another AU that had the story and lesson of kindness in a world full of violence. It has been taken down now because of what people had done and the horrible backlash that was given to the creator for not shipping me and a child Frisk together. Sadly, Ruby has not been able to find the original story because of this anymore and has mainly just found what fans have created. Ruby wants to try and do the right thing and make what people want but in a different AU so that way the original FlowerFell story can come back, and people can fall in love with what it was meant to be.
Ruby understands the risks, and the backlash that she can receive if this is a success, and she is okay with that. She believes she can handle it cause; she has been through more bad times than I can count. Whether that is true, we will find out.
Other than that, though that’s all I have to say. I think I’ve talked enough to last me more than a week, and the amount of air that took Uhg. I am BONE TIRED and have a SKELETON of work to do. So, I’m gonna take a shortcut to Grillbys. I’ll see you there. *

Prologue
Mount Ebott 20xx
A girl was running from a monster. A monster who she once loved. A monster who claimed to be her father, however, he was now trying to kill her. She was only 10 years old and had done nothing wrong. Her father was a drunk, abusive and manipulative being who was uncontrollable. She doesn’t know what she did wrong to deserve this but she knew that she didn’t want to die. So she was running to stay alive. She was running up the mountain hoping he would trip and fall in his drunken state and she could get away, but also praying that she didn’t trip herself.
As she ducked from another branch, jumped over roots, and rocks, and barely avoided another attempt from him grabbing her she ran, but her running came to a halt as she ran to where a Chasm was. It was too big to run around it, and before she could think of anything else she was grabbed violently by her arms and forced to turn around and look at the monster who called herself her father.
“YOU THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY FROM YOUR PUNISHMENT! YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO LIVE LIFE ANYMORE YOU DESPICABLE, USELESS, PIECE OF SHIT TO EVEN EXIST IN THIS WORLD!” The monster looked at the chasm behind her and began to pick the poor girl up. She started squirming, kicking, screaming, crying, and begging the monster to put her down and give her another chance and that she didn’t want to die making him smile a sinister grin.
“YOU DON’T WANT TO DIE HUH? WELL, I NEVER WANTED TO HAVE YOU OR YOUR SISTER IN THE FIRST PLACE! HERE IS MY FINAL LESSON TO YOU, YOU USELESS BRAT!” He said as he held the child over the chasm.
“NOT EVERYONE GETS WHAT THEY WANT!” and with those words he released her arms. She screamed and began to fall down the chasm. Time however, felt as if it slowed down as she heard another voice scream out to her.
“CHARA!” however, it was too late as Chara fell down the chasm to never be seen again. Her Twin sister had followed after them to try and save her. What he did to them was horrible and wrong. How Chara dreamed of running away one day with her. However, now that day will never come. She will never get to save her. She will no longer protect her from him.
Her body was starting to lean back as gravity was beginning to increase its pace and time seemed to be resuming. She saw her sister run to the edge and reach down into the chasm as if she could grab her even though she was out of reach. She screamed and cried for her sister as the monster leaned down to take her away.
With tears in her eyes Chara reached her hand out toward her sister as well as she fell down deeper in the chasm.
“FRISK!” she screamed, as the man grabbed her and took her away, as Chara fell down to the bottom of the chasm. Gravity had pulled her body to where her head would be the first thing to hit the ground. She looked ahead of her towards the bottom where she saw the ground coming fast. However, she saw that she was going to land on beautiful blue flowers and smiled.
She closed her eyes and shed the last tears she believed she had left as a final thought ran through her mind.

Chapter 3: The Fallen

Chapter 1, The Fallen
I WAS WALKING THROUGH THE GARDENS WITH MY SON AND WIFE. WE WERE A HAPPY FAMILY. JUST THE THREE OF US. MY WIFE TORIEL, EVEN THOUGH WE LIVE IN THE UNDERGROUND I COULDNT BE HAPPIER. MY WIFE WAS NEXT IN LINE FOR THE THRONE AND INSTEAD OF BEING WITH THE MONSTER THAT HER PARENTS CHOSE FOR HER TO RULE WITH SHE DECIDED TO CHOOSE ME INSTEAD. I MUST BE THE LUCKIEST MONSTER IN THE WHOLE UNDERGROUND BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT HER, AND WHEN WE HAD OUR SON ASRIEL, I SWEAR MY HEART BURST INSIDE ME OR SOMETHING BECAUSE MY WHOLE WORLD BECAME SO BRIGHT THAT I DIDN’T FEEL LIKE I WAS LIVING IN THE UNDERGROUND.
I PLANTED THIS GARDEN FOR THEM AND BRING THEM HERE OFTEN. EVER SINCE TORIEL AND I’S FIRST DATE TO THE ECHOFALLS I HAVE ALWAYS PLANTED ECHO FLOWERS AND FILLED THEM WITH ECHOS OF LOVE AND CARE FOR MY FAMILY. HOWEVER, WHILE WE WERE WALKING THE GARDENS, WE NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS OFF.
AHEAD OF US WERE THE ECHO FLOWERS BUT A SLIGHT PATCH OF THEM WERE CRUSHED AND WITHERED BY SOMETHING. HOWEVER, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE WHAT IT WAS BECAUSE THERE WERE STILL MANY FLOWERS THAT WERENT CRUSHED AND COVERING IT SLIGHTLY. MY WIFE SAW AS WELL AND WALKED AHEAD OF ASRIEL WHO WAS CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT IT WAS, NOT REALIZING THAT HE COULD BE IN DANGER. HE IS JUST A BOY OF ONLY 15 AND THOUGH HE KNOWS OF DANGER HE DOESN’T UNDERSTAND IT FULLY BECAUSE WE LIVE IN SUCH A PEACFUL TIME, AND I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.
AS WE GOT CLOSER, WE HEARD ONE OF THE INTACT ECHO FLOWERS SCREAM.
“FRISK!” MY SON’S FACE FILLED WITH FEAR, AS HE HAD NEVER HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. THE VOICE SOUNDED TERRIFIED, AND FULL OF FEAR, BUT ALSO SOMETHING ELSE THAT I COULDN’T QUITE PUT INTO WORDS. WE HEARD ANOTHER ONE OF THE ECHO FLOWERS SCREAM IN RESPONSE TO THE FIRST ONE.
“CHARA!” THIS VOICE IN THIS FLOWER WAS DIFFERENT. IT SOUNDED A LITTLE DIFFERNT, BUT EQUALLY AS TERRIFYING AND FEAR FULLED AS THE FIRST ONE. A SUDDEN GUST OF WIND BLEW AND REVEALED THE BODY OF A YOUNG GIRL IN THE FLOWERS. MY WIFE AND I FROZE AND LOOKED AT EACHOTHER FOR A MOMENT UNTIL THE LAST FLOWER SPOKE.
“NOT EVERYONE GETS WHAT THEY WANT!” THIS VOICE WAS MALE AND SOUNDED ANGRY. MY WIFE AND I SNAPPED BACK INTO REALITY FROM THAT AND QUICKLY RAN TO THE BODY IN THE FLOWERS. IT WAS A LITTLE HUMAN IN RAGGEDY CLOTHES THAT WERE SLIGHTLY TORN AND VERY DISHIVELD. THEY HAD SHORT BROWN HAIR AND FAIR SKIN THAT WAS COVERED IN BRUISES ALL OVER. THEIR HEAD HAD A HORRIBLE GASH ON IT AND THEY WERE BLEEDING STILL SO THEY HADNT FALLEN TO LONG AGO. THEIR LEG LOOKED LIKE IT WAS BROKEN AS WELL. MY WIFE SET DOWN OUR SON GENTLY AND SMILED CALMLY AT HIM TO KEEP HIM CALM.
“Asriel. Please get Mr. Gaster and tell him someone is hurt. Then help Sans out and watch Papyrus for a little while until everything is taken care of okay.”
“YES MOTHER.” ASRIEL SAID AND RAN OUT OF THE GARDEN TO FIND THE SKELETON KNOWN AS GASTER. HE IS THE ROYAL SCIENTIST. IN THIS TYPE OF SITUATION, HE WOULD BE THE BEST TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS A HUMAN CHILD.TORIEL KNOWS SOME MEDICINE AS WELL HOWEVER NOT ENOUGH FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS.
“Asgore. Let’s see if we can patch them up a bit.” SHE SAID AS SHE KNEELED BESIDE THE HUMAN AND PULLED OUT HER MINI FIRST AID KIT, SHE CARRIES FOR ASRIEL IN CASE HE FALLS AND HURTS HIMSELF. SHE IS A LITTLE OVERPROTECTIVE BUT THEN AGAIN SO AM I. I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO PROTECT MY SON, AND THE PEOPLE OF THE UNDERGROUND.
“OF COURSE, TORI.” I SAID AS I KNEELED DOWN NEXT TO THE HUMAN AS WELL. NOT LONG AFTERWARDS MR. GASTER CAME. WITH HIS ASSITANT ALPHYS AND OUR NEWEST SQUIRE UNDYNE. MR. GASTER HAD A MEDICAL BAG, WHILE ALPHYS AND UNDYNE WERE CARRYING A STRETCHER.
“YOUR MAJESTYIES, I AM HERE AS REQUESTED. DO YOU MIND INFORMING ME OF THE SITUATION A BIT MORE? YOUR SON TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS SOMEONE INJURED AND IN NEED OF MEDICAL ASSITANCE. I TAKE IT THIS IS THEM?”
“YES, Mr. Gaster It is. A human has fallen from the world above. We found them in the flowers and have only cleaned their wounds to prevent infection and put a bandage over the wound on their head. However, it will need to be changed soon because it appears they are bleeding through it. We did not mess with their leg since neither of us know the human anatomy well enough like you do. Hence why we called you. Please help this human and fix them up.”
“OF COURSE, YOUR MAJESTY.” HE SAID AS HE BEGAN TO WORK ON THE HUMAN CHILD. TORI AND I STOOD UP AS WE WOULD ONLY BE IN HIS WAY FROM THIS POINT FORWARD. HE WAS TELLING HIS ASSISTANT DIRECTIONS ON WHAT TO DO AND HAD UNDYNE HELP HER PUT THE CHILD THE STRETCHER THEY HAD BROUGHT AFTER THE SET THE CHILDS LEG BACK IN PLACE AND IN A TEMPORARY SPLINT.
TORI AND I WENT TO GO TO WHERE ASRIEL SHOULD BE WITH THE SKELETON BROTHERS, WHEN WE GOT THERE, WE SAW THAT THEY WERE PLAYING TAG WITH PAPYRUS. SORT OF. THE ELDER OF THE SKELETON BROTHERS, SANS WHO WAS THE SAME AGE AS MY SON ASRIEL, WAS SITTING ON THE GROUND PLAYING ON A GROUDBOY (UNDERGROUND VERSION OF A GAMEBOY) WHILE PAPYRUS WAS CHASING ASRIEL WHO WAS RUNNING AROUND SANS. PAPYRUS IS 10 YEARS OLD AND IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS SANS AND KNOWS THAT HIS OLDER BROTHER IS A BIT LAZY, AND IF HE TAGS HIM, HE WILL JUST ACCEPT THAT HE IS IT AND TRICK HIM INTO COMING CLOSE AND GETTING TAGGED BY HIM AGAIN.
“Asriel.” TORI SAID SOFTLY, CAUSING HIM TO STOP AND PAPYRUS TO TACKLE HIM IN A HUG AND SMILE UP AT HIM.
“TAGGED YOU!” HE SAID AND ASRIEL SMILED DOWN AT HIM AND RUFFLED HIS SKULL.
“YOU SURE DID BUDDY.”
“NYEH NO NOOGGIES!” PAPYRUS SAID CASUING EVERYONE TO CHUCKLE A LITTLE. ASRIEL THEN TURNED TO TORI AND I COMPLETLEY.
“YES MOTHER, FATHER. IS EVERYTHING OKAY? IS THE HU-”
“THEY ARE BEING ATTENDED TO BY GASTER SON.” I INTERUPPTED BEEFORE HE SAID HUMAN. I DON’T WANT IT GETTING OUT MUCH THAT ANOTHER HUMAN HAS FALLEN DOWN HERE. IT MAY NOT BE COMMEN BUT IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT MET WITH PLEASANT INTRODUCTIONS MUCH AND ARE MORE MET WITH MORE HORRIBLE FATES THAN NOT BY ASSASSINS WHO KILL THEM FOR POWER.
“ASRIEL DO YOU MIND COMING WITH YOUR MOTHER AND I TO HAVE A TALK REGARDING OUR GUEST?” HE NODDED AND SANS LOOKED UP FROM HIS GAME AND SMILED.
“Thanks for helping out and playing with Papy for a bit Asi. I’m gonna take him home now. Could you to tell Dad that we’ll see him there?”
“OF COURSE, SANS. HE MIGHT BE A BIT LATE TONIGHT THOUGH. THE JOB HE IS WORKING ON RIGHT NOW IS A BIT URGENT.” I SAID SINCE THE HUMAN’S INJURIES WERE QUITE EXTENSIVE. THOUGH I DON’T ACTUALLY KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO TAKE CARE OF A HUMAN I DO KNOW THAT IT PROBABLY ISNT AS EASY AS CARING FOR A MONSTER SINCE WE JUST NEED A FORM OF FOOD TO RECOVER ALONG WITH REST TO INCREASE OUR HP SO WE DON’T DIE ACCIDENTALLY FROM SOMETHING WHILE DURING RECOVERY. LIKE DURING A COLD OR SOMETHING BECAUSE NOT MANY OF US ARE ABLE TO EAT WHEN WE ARE SICK AND THAT IS WHERE W. D. GASTER IS HELPFUL. HE IS MORE KNOWN AS A SCIENTIST BUT HE HAS WONDERFUL SERUM THAT HELPS US DURING TIMES LIKE THIS WHEN WE ARE INJURED AND NEAR THE BOTTOM OF OUR HP THAT CAN HEAL US TO FULL HP AND HEAL MOST OF OUR INJURIES. WE MAY BE LEFT WITH SOME SCARING DEPENDING ON THE INJURY BUT WE ARE FINE OTHERWISE.
“Thanks for the heads up. Come on Papy. Let’s go home.” SANS SAID AND BEGAN WALKING TWOARDS OUT OF THE CASTLE.
“CAN WE HAVE LASAGNA TONIGHT?” PAPYRUS ASKED HIS BROTHER GIVING HIM PUPPY EYES. THIS CAUSED SANS TO SMILE AND CHUCKLE A LITTLE.
“Sure thing bro.”
“YAY!!!” PAPYRUS SQUEELED IN GLEE.
“TRAVEL SAFETLY YOU TO ALRIGHT.”
“We will. See you tomorrow, Asi.”
“SURE, THING SANS.” AND WITH THAT ASRIEL WALKED WITH US AND WE MADE OUR WAY TO THE CONFRERENCE CHAMBER TO TALK ABOUT OUR RECENT SITUATION. WHEN WE ARRIVED, WE MADE SURE THE ROOM WAS EMPTY AND THAT NO ONE WAS FOLLOWING US IN THE HALLS AND CLOSED THE DOOR. ASRIEL DID NOT SAY A WORD AS HE ALREADY UNDERSTOOD THAT THIS WAS MORE SERIOUS THAN HE REALIZED WHEN I INTTERUPTED HIM.
“ASRIEL BEFORE WE START, DID YOU TELL THE SKELETON BROTHERS ANYTHING ABOUT THE HUMAN?” I ASKED. THOSE BROTHERS WONT BE MUCH OF PROBLEM IF THEY DO KNOW AND WILL PROBABLY FIND OUT ABOUT THEM THROUGH THEIR FATHER WHICH IS PERFECTLY FINE. I TRUST THAT FAMILY ALONG WITH TORIEL AND WE HAVE KNOWN THEM FOR LONG ENOUGH THAT WE CONSIDER THEM AS PART OF OUR OWN FAMILY AS WELL. PLUS, THEY HAVE DONE SO MUCH FOR US AND ARE WORKING ON MAKING A CORE SYSTEM THAT COULD BENEFIT AND HELP THE UNDERGROUND IMMENSILY. SANS HIMSELF HAS BEGUN WORKING WITH HIS FATHER AND ALPHYS ON IT.
“NO. I ALMOST SLIPPED UP THERE WHEN YOU ARRIVED THOUGH HOWEVER, WHEN I FOUND GASTER I JUST TOLD HIM SOMEONE WAS INJURED AND NEEDED HELP. SANS WAS THERE AS WELL AS PAPYRUS BUT THEY NEVER ASKED ME ANY QUESTIONS OTHER THAN PAPYRUS WANTING TO PLAY TAG.”
“Do you know the importance why we aren’t telling others?” TORI ASKED. A HUMAN HAS NEVER FALLEN WHILE ASRIEL HAS BEEN ALIVE. AND WE SHOULD HAVE TAUGHT HIM ABOUT THIS SOONER BUT SEEING HOW RARE IT IS WE DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL HE WAS OF AGE TO TAKE THE CROWN.
“IS IT BECAUSE OF WHAT HUMANS DID TO US MANY YEARS AGO?”
“Not exactly. Let me tell you a story about a human your father and I met when we were children.”
“YOU GUYS MET A HUMAN! WHERE ARE THEY NOW? COULD I MEET THEM?” ASRIEL SAID WITH EXCITEMENT, HOWEVER, HE NOTICED THE GRIM LOOK ON OUR FACES AS HE ASKED THOSE QUESTIONS.
“WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?”
“Well, that is what we will explain. When your father and I were young a little boy fell into the underground. He was found by your father.”
“I HAD FOUND HIM IN ONE OF THE FIELDS. HE FELL DOWN ONE OF THE MANY CHASMS THAT ARE ON THE MOUNTAIN ABOUT US THAT MAKES UP THE SEAL FOR THE UNDERGROUND CREATED BY THEIR ANCESTORS MANY YEARS AGO.”
“WAIT SO THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE? NOT JUST IN OUR GARDEN?”
“YES SON. WE HAVENT FOUND WHERE ALL THE CHASMS ARE YET BUT WE HAVE MANY SOLDIERS IN THE ONES WE DO KNOW ABOUT JUST IN CASE ANOTHER HUMAN FALLS. THAT WAY, WE CAN KEEP IT UNDER WRAPS AND NO ONE IN THE MAIN CITY’S OR TOWNS FIND OUT THAT A HUMAN HAS FALLEN AGAIN.”
“WHY WHAT WERE TO HAPPEN IF THEY FOUND OUT?”
“The human would be hunted.”
“HUNTED? WHY?”
“Well, many monsters don’t like how we are trapped here, and how we lost to humans many years ago so when one has fallen, they let their rage take over. The other reason is because humans beat us, they have a special ability when that we monsters do not.”
“WHATS THAT?”
“THEIR SOULS HAVE A THING CALLED DETERMINATION INSIDE OF THEM WHICH MAKES IT SURVIVE AS A WHOLE AFTER DEATH. THESE SOULS ARE THE KEY TO BREAKING THE BARRIER AND OUR FREEDOM, HOWEVER THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER USE FOR THEM. IF A MONSTER CONSUMES A HUMAN SOUL, THEY GAIN IMMENSE POWER THAT COULD WIPE OUT THE ENTIRITY OF THE UNDERGROUND. HOWEVER, IF A MONSTER DOES CONSUME A SOUL, THEY THEMSELVES TURN INTO DUST BECAUSE OUR BODIES CANNOT HANDLE THE STRAIN OF THE DETERMINATION.”
“SO WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO CONSUME A SOUL?”
“BECAUSE CERTAIN MONSTERS WANT POWER THAT THEY DON’T HAVE AND FORCE THEIR WAY OUT OF THE UNDERGROUND AND TAKE BACK THE LANDS AROUND THE MOUNTAIN AND CLAIM IT FOR MONSTERS AND TERRORIZE AND KILL ANY HUMANS THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH.”
“BUT WOULDN’T THE HUMANS USE THEIR MAGIC ON US AGAIN?”
“NO. IN THE YEARS SINCE THE WAR THAT TRAPPED US HERE, HUMANS HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT MAGIC. THEY HAVE NO NEED FOR IT ANYMORE SO WE WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE OVER EASILY HOWEVER, IF WE WERE TO DO THAT, WE MAY SPARK ANOTHER WAR AND CAUSE THEM TO RE-GAIN THEIR MAGIC, AND WITH HOW EACH HUMAN WHO HAS FALLEN HAS BEEN STRONGER THAN THE OTHER, THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT IF THEY RE-GAINED THEIR MAGIC WE WOULD NOT JUST GET SEALED AWAY AGAIN.”
“OH. WAIT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LAST HUMAN WHO WAS HERE?”
“My Father took his life.”
“WHAT?”
“ITS TRUE. BACK THEN WE DIDN’T HAVE THE PROCAUTIONS WE DO NOW AND THE HUMAN WAS BEING HUNTED OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN. EVERYTIME HE WAS IN A FIGHT ECHO FLOWERS SEEMED TO GROW OFF OF HIM AS HE REGAINED FORMS OF MAGIC. SOMETIMES MANY SPROUTED OTHER TIMES ONLY A FEW.”
“SO, WHEN HUMANS REGAIN MAGIC, THEY GROW ECHO FLOWERS?”
“WE DON’T REALLY KNOW FULLY BUT THAT IS MY GUESS SON. THAT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT MADE SENSE BUT EVEN STILL I AM NOT SURE THAT IS FULLY CORRECT.”

“WELL, THESE ECHO FLOWERS ECHOED WORDS OR SENTENCES FROM THE PERSON FIGHTING THE HUMAN THAT HAD NEVER BEEN SAID BEFORE. I HAD NEVER HEARD THEM SAY IT AT LEAST BUT AN ECHO FLOWER CAN’T MAKE AN ECHO WITHOUT SOUND. SOMETIMES I WOULD HERE HIS VOICE IN THEM OR MINE. THEY NEVER CHANGED THEIR SOUNDS EVEN IF YOU MADE NEW ONES FOR THEM TO HEAR. THEY ALWAYS REPEATED THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT. IT WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY TERRIFYING.”
“SO WHY DID GRANDPA KILL HIM?”
“It was an act of mercy. Many monsters fought the human when he was down here, and many flowers grew on them to the point they were destroying him. He was suffering by the time he made it here to the castle. The flowers had roots, and many were in his lungs and throat, and all over their body making it hard for them to breath and move. Over half his face was also covered in flowers to the point he could only see out of one eye since the other was fully gone.”
“ALL HE WANTED WAS TO GO HOME BUT BY THE TIME WE MADE IT HERE AND TO THE KING HE INSTEAD WANTED TO DIE BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT SURVIVE IF HE MADE IT BACK TO THE WORLD ABOVE US. HE WANTED US TO USE HIS SOUL TO SET OURSELVES FREE.”
“THEN WHY DIDN’T WE?”
“Because we don’t belong there. As wonderful as the world above sounds and how many monsters including me, have dreamed and wished to be free from the underground, it is not safe for us to go out there like this. Many monsters would attack humans for their powers and hunt them like a sport and cause us to be sealed again or even worse. We could be wiped out by the humans completely.”
“SO, WHAT DID WE DO WITH THEIR SOUL?”
“ALL HUMAN SOULS ARE HIDDEN AWAY.”
“ALL?”
“THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN ONE HUMAN DOWN HERE BEFORE EVEN YOUR MOTHER AND I. HE WAS THE 5TH. THE NEW HUMAN IS THE 6TH.”
“ARE WE GOING TO KILL THEM?”
“No. They have not awakened any powers within them, and they should be able to recover from their injuries more easily than we can. If we are able to prevent the flowers and keep them hidden from the towns and cities until the time is right and they wouldn’t be hunted, they will live with us in the safety of the castle and live as happy a life that is possible for them.”
“SO, I HAVE A NEW SIBLING?”
“IF THEY ACCEPT US AS FAMILY YES. BUT THINK OF THEM MORE AS A FRIEND FOR NOW OK.”
“OK”
If only he knew that this choice would lead to the cause of so much devastation. The loss of both my husband and my son. The anger in my blood that festers when I think of that child. The trust we gave and the betrayal we suffered all for trying to help. The scars covering my face for protecting them at first only for them to almost kill me along with my family in order to leave. As long as I rein, every human that falls down here will die by my hands.
