You have to be kidding me... thought Lucifer looking at the scene in front of him.
What he saw was the detective currently in a very absorbing conversation with a friend from her high school. She assured him that he was only a colleague from old times, but the way he looked at her Lucifer deemed as highly inappropriate.
Considering their new, although very blossoming romantic relationship, Lucifer couldn’t stand a thought that someone else may want to be close to his detective. She is his light, his queen, his everything, and he will not cease to try to be someone she deserves. He would literally give her the world if she asked.
They met this man at the crime scene, he was a witness to the murder. They interrogated him together very quickly and it turned out that he wasn’t a suspect, much to Lucifer’s disappointment. After they finished their normal routine and all witnesses were questioned, the detective said she needed a few minutes to remember and talk about the good old days with Mark. He let her go and because he didn’t want to interfere, he went to talk to Miss Lopez.
"Oh buddy, you've got it bad" Ella snapped him out of his thoughts.
"What?" he looked at her startled.
"You’ve been looking at them for the past 10 minutes. I’m sure you haven’t even been listening to me." Ella smiled knowingly.
"I’ll have you know that I’ve heard your every word and about the first part... maybe you’re right... but did you see him? What is he even thinking, that he can what, suddenly appear and destroy all I’ve been working on for years?" Lucifer thought loudly with exasperation.
"What are you talking about? Chloe is head over heels in love with you. He’s not going to destroy anything." Ella stated confidently.
"But I don’t like that he is standing so close to her... oh no no, look... he put a hand on her arm" Lucifer exclaimed in horror.
"Oh my, someone is jealous... Lucifer, you don’t have to worry, really" Ella said smiling with empathy.
"I’m not jealous! I’m just... You know what, I have to put a stop to this." he replied already walking away from her.
"Wait!" Ella called out, but it was too late, he didn’t hear her.
As Lucifer came closer to the detective, he picked up some of their conversation. Mark was intensively telling some story about how he had so much fun on a party X years ago. Lucifer very discreetly approached the detective from behind, put his hands on her hips, clung to her back, put his head on her shoulder and turned his head so that he could whisper something in her ear.
At first, she stiffened but when she recognized it’s Lucifer, she relaxed a little bit. But then as though remembered that they are in a public place, moreover at the crime scene she turned her head to him and whispered: "Lucifer, what are you doing?"
"And what is seems like I am doing? I felt the need to hug my gorgeous girlfriend." he said blowing hot air on her neck.
"And what have we established about PDA in the workplace?" she countered, but the effect he had on her was noticeable.
"Right, but I can’t wait when I’ll have you all to myself later." he whispered, kissed her neck and stood next to her.
Chloe cleared her throat, her knees weak and heart thumping against her chest.
"Oh, it seems I interrupted something" – Lucifer exclaimed loudly.
"No everything is alright, we were just recalling a party we attended about 20 years ago with Chloe" Mark replied politely.
"Yeah, it was fun" Chloe added.
"How come you’ve never mentioned it before detective?" Lucifer inquired.
"You know it was such a long time ago, I almost forgot about it" she said laughing.
"That’s true. Okay, it was amazing to see you again, but I have to go now if I want to be at work on time" said Mark.
"It was good to see you too, take care" Chloe replied.
"Bye, it was nice to meet you buddy" He turned to Lucifer, and shook his hand.
"Yeah, bye" Lucifer waved him goodbye.
Mark walked away, Lucifer stood there with hands folded into fists and averted his eyes looking everywhere but at the detective.
"Lucifer, what was it all about?" Chloe crossed her arms over her chest.
"I don’t know what are you talking about." Lucifer answered still looking somewhere into the distance.
"Lucifer..." she put her hand on his arm "you know we said no hugging and kissing at work, remember?" she asked softly.
"Okay" Lucifer replied, eyes still behind her.
"Babe, what's wrong? Why are you acting like this?" Chloe wanted to know what caused such a reaction, he’s never before broken the rule they've established unless... and then, it clicked.
"Lucifer, are you jealous?" Chloe asked incredulously.
Lucifer was tired of avoiding this feeling and hiding this from her so he sighed and admitted. "Of course, I am jealous! who wouldn’t have been? Have you by any chance looked in the mirror? You are my whole world, and I don’t want to lose you to some guy who thinks he can just walk in here and take you away from me."
And how that admission affected her.
"Come with me..." Chloe took his hand and led him behind the building, then made sure no one is around.
"Babe, you know I love you so much... and there is no way I would leave you. I’m yours just as you’re mine." She backed him under the wall, took his face in her hands and kissed him softly.
Lucifer groaned in her mouth and turned them around so that she was pressed against the wall. He put one hand on her face and the other on her hip and kissed her deeply. She in turn put her hand in his hair and pulled him to her even more. He started to shift his hand to her ass and moved impossibly closer to her so that there was no space between them.
Still somewhere in the back of her head she knew they are at work, but when his hand sneaked under her blouse to touch her breast and his mouth lowered to suck on her neck, suddenly all the reasons why they shouldn't be doing this disappeared. It felt so good. But she had to stop this if she didn’t want to be arrested for public indecency. What a shame.
"Lucifer, we have to stop" she breathed.
He just started kissing her harder.
"Seriously, babe..." she tried again.
"But I want you, detective" he tried to persuade her.
"I want you too, but we have to wait till we finish work, okay?" she tried to convince herself that she will be able to hold on until the evening.
"The things I do for you, detective." Lucifer said smiling and pecked her lips once again.
"I love you"
"I love you too, Chloe"
When they came from around the corner to the front of the building, they ran into Ella.
"Omg! Finally, you’re here, I hoped that you won’t take longer otherwise I would have to go and break your little make out session, because I was sure you wouldn’t want other officers to hear you"
"Oh, we’re sorry" Chloe said a little embarrassed "but thank you, Ella"
"Speak for yourself, detective, I’m not sorry at all" Lucifer smirked.
Chloe just rolled her eyes.
