Chapter 1: Note
Notes:
A/N: Later I'll update my other story, I just posted this. But seriously I'm worried, something happened to Eijun when I read the chapter 296 on daiya no ace in manga, and the latest chap Okumura giving a strange look at him.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“Please... Please...” his voice cracked when he noticed on the monitor, his sun's heartbeat that was slowly going to a straight line. He felt so desperate. “Come on, I know you won't leave me... You promised! You promised to me Eijun!”
He no longer cares about those around him and the only thing important to him is Eijun. He felt his cheeks wet with tears that never stopped falling. He gritted his teeth while staring intently at that monitor.
He is battling life and death. And for Hongō, he is the same... battling with him too. Because he knows that whatever happens to Eijun, his future will be decided if he survives here. But if he doesn't and that hearbeat disappears completely... he will die with him too.
‘I would rather die with you than live without you...’

Chapter Text
He didn’t expect to meet him and most of all, he didn’t expect to let him into his own world either.
Hongo Masamune really hates losing, so much to his displeasure when he loses to something he tried to prevent. But it was worth it for him, because after all, it was Sawamura Eijun.
The frown on his lips deepened as he watched the person in front of him who was smiling widely and just shrugged his shoulders at what he said.
“Didn‘t you hear me?”
“No—I mean yes! I really just don't care Hongo-san!” Eijun exclaimed, before lowering the his hands from the air. The slight drooping of his shoulders is noticeable and his attention focused in the far direction. He smiled, a weak and bitter smile.
“It’s just that I want to hide from everyone that I got yips after our game in the final against Inashiro.” he chuckled at himself. "So pathetic right? A player who had the yips after losing in finals, cause I am so weak that’s why...”
A few seconds of silence prevailed around after Eijun said that and when he looked at Masamune who didn't seem happy with what he said.
“Stop lying to yourself, Sawamura Eijun.” he scoffs.
“I am not! Everything I said is true Hongo—!”
“Tsk, you’re so annoying and loud.”
“W-What?! Ugh! Your nasty attitude is showing again Hongo-san!”
‘Despite everything, you still haven't changed.’
Masamune’s world only revolves around baseball, he doesn't see himself in a situation where he can't think of playing baseball let alone pitching. If he is often obsessed with improving and winning, now it is new for him to spend the whole night thinking about the person who is in front of him now.
And he's afraid that it might just disappear one day... like a moon when the day comes.
Day... No, it’s sun .. Eijun was a sun to him.
It's at the center of his world every time he sees it but he still can’t help but think that sometimes he’s like a moon despite of his attitude, just like he feels every time he stares at the moon, he really felt calm and the same peace.
And he can't deny that their own personalities are very different when it compared, he also doesn't know how and when they became close to each other.
Because what matter to him, he is so glad he met him.
He is his heartbeat, he is his sun... without him everything is meaningless, everything is dark.
So he hopes that this sun will not get tired of shining and don’t leave him.
Even if there are days when he can't be understood.
Even if he is like this.
“I am scared ‘Mune...” he whimpered under his blanket.
‘No, I was the one who’s scared... What if you’ll disappear this time after I let you go back to that place?’
Masamune just remained standing while observing Eijun's figure under the blanket.
“They're just a bunch of pieces of shit, ‘Jun.” he stated.
‘And they didn’t deserve you...’
“I am serious Hongo Masamune! Argh!! I don’t want to see Miyuki Kazuya!”
‘I want to strangle him, or pitch to his annoying face’
Masamune rolled his dark blue eyes at his direction. “Why did you decided to go back to that place then? Where you can just stay here, we can be together at this team and here you will experience the Kos—”
Eijun immediately came out from the blanket, his cat-eyed face is showing and Masamune was amused at his reaction.
“Because I want to have a pitching duel with you! How many times have I told you that?!”
‘I want to happen that too but I want you beside me.’
He let out a smirk. “And you think you can beat me southpaw pitcher Sawamura Eijun?”
“I will beat you ‘Mune! Just so you wait—!”
‘Yes, you can beat me. You monster southpaw,’
“Then quit whining and let's go.”
“W–Wait!”
‘I am the one who’s waiting, why are you near yet so far to reach and gathered into my arms?
In Masamune’s thought, Eijun can beat him.
He was sure of that because he himself witnessed Eijun’s struggle from the day he saw him, even if he didn’t want to remember that day, it was still part of his cherished memories.
“So how is Eijun?” Enjo, Masamune’s catcher asked seriously.
Masamune stopped pitching for a moment, he narrowed his dark blue eyes at Enjo.
“Why did you ask?” his answer was also a question.
Enjo’s lips twitch at the intense gaze on him from Masamune. He’s really used to his uninterested facade so he’s quite in disbelief at Hongo Masamune who is in front of him now.
“Because I know your personality, it’s not surprising that you two don’t agree on everything except of pitching.” Enjo answered.
“Tsk,”
Enjo just shook his head at the pitcher’s response.
In just short of pan, Sawamura Eijun, wrapped Hongo Masamune into his fingers.

Chapter Text
“I can’t even believe a southpaw like him ever had the yips!”
“Man, then that‘s just how Seidou’s coaches treat Sawamura Eijun?”
“He’s rare, that Sawamura Eijun...”
“I wonder how he overcame the yips that even players from pro-scene baseball sports always chooses to runaway from that. We really can say that he is not just a relief pitcher.”
“Relief pitcher?! He must be ace!”
“But it‘s impossible, even in a team like Seidou. I didn‘t think there is really favoritism in every power house teams, and I didn’t expect Seidou.”
“Kinda felt bad for Sawamura Eijun tho,”
“For real, what is their starting catcher, Miyuki Kazuya, doing?”
“I heard that he himself was chosen to be the captain of Seidou, what happened?”
All kinds of gossip is spreading on social media in the world of high school baseball. And even more hotly talked about is the sudden exposure of a Seidou player’s yips.
It spread after the match between Seidou and Ichidaisan where Sawamura Eijun shined after he shut down the Ichidai batting lineup that was able to get some runs from their Ace, Furuya Satoru.
Talk about how it was too late to bring the relief pitcher of Seidou, who is currently put in the middle of intense pressure because the bases are loaded and no outs causes by their ace. But despite that intense pressure, Sawamura really didn't mind it and showed his true pitching skills.
Which really surprised all the people in the stands and can be seen by the head coach of Seidou.
So everyone got a lot of speculation, a lot of questions and unproven theories because the said team remained silent.
But the hot topic hasn‘t died yet, cause an unknown account from X’s app posted about the happening event inside Seidou. So when that account got a lot of attention many people suspected its a player from Seidou were behind that account.
That post immediately spread quickly and the content of the post was a thread and facts about Seidou‘s southpaw pitcher Sawamura, which Seidou fans and other outside fans did not expect and also the other teams are speechless.
Because one of the things that caught everyone‘s attention was one of the release statement of that account that Sawamura had the yips after their match in the Inashiro finals and that includes the unequal treatment of the coaches to this southpaw who caused him to doubt his own abilities even more.
There were different reactions from the fans and from the different players from other teams. There were others who didn’t believe in that post but those who believed prevailed because of the strange games Seidou was showing.
And a team that was mentioned in that post did not survive from the various questions that were thrown at them by the fans.
Inashiro's official page on X's app was filled with questions regarding Sawamura Eijun. Like what is their reaction to the spreading issue?
Even the account of Inashiro's ace, Narumiya Mei, who is known throughout the high school baseball community, was not missed by fans because of his sudden post that was obviously connected to that unknown account.
@IamNaruMeiya
If that was true, as a southpaw I am furious, he didn‘t deserve that. No one.
Many others commented on that post about Sawamura and called out Seidou. But even Sawamura himself wants to be asked bveryone but of all the famous players of Seidou, he is the only one who does not have an X account, so the others have done nothing but to flood Seidou’s official account which has remained silent until now.
Until two weeks later, not everyone expected that the unknown account to post again after it suddenly went offline.
During those two weeks Seidou's official account became silent and the issue coming from them did not even die. Everyone is still waiting to see what happens.
And just as they expected....
The post of that account is where it said that it was offline for two weeks because two weeks ago since Sawamura disappeared and no one even knows where he went.
But after those two weeks the southpaw pitcher came back as if nothing had happened. According to Sawamura himself, he thought of going home to Nagano because he missed his family and the coaches are so busy so he left instead.
When he was told what was happening in the world of social media, he just shrugged his shoulders while smiling widely.
It can be seen under the long post of that unknown account about what happened, a picture of Sawamura can be seen smiling broadly in the direction of Seidou‘s starting catcher and captain, Miyuki Kazuya, who is giving the pitcher a serious look.
“Are you okay?” Enjo asked Masamune who had been staring at his phone screen for a while.
The pitcher didn’t answer so Enjo just sighed. He took out his phone and tapped on an application that he was sure Masamune was looking at right now.
As expected, the Seidou issue is still not abating. Many are still curious and want answers.
But that‘s not what Enjo focused on when he scrolled down but a post by a fanfage account of Masamune’s. He raised an eyebrow when he saw the screenshot of Masamune’s official X account as if something had changed.
When Enjo read the caption, that‘s when he noticed what had changed in Masamune‘s boring account, which had only been posting about baseball since then.
He saw that its cover photo was new. You won’t notice it right away because it seems like the picture is deliberately blurred, but if you look closely, you can see a hand holding a baseball that is only half visible. But above the ball you will notice what appears to be wind blown brown hair. Not only that is striking but also the beautiful color of the setting sun that shines on that hair so it really won’t be noticed if you don‘t stare at it longer.
@HMbiggestfan!
our beloved Masamune finally update his accountT_T but what’s the meaning of this??
Enjo’s snorted.
“You’ve only known each other for two weeks and you’re already very close to each other... Strange...” Enjo said with a shrug of his shoulders before standing up from his seat.
Masamune looked up and he’s freaking glaring at Enjo.
“What are you conveying?”
“Oh, nothing... I’m just wondering if the sun really affects someone like you from Hokkaido that much?”

Chapter Text
On the ground side of Seidou, there’s no denying the inexplicable strange atmosphere in the environment. But there is only one thing in every soft whispers and gossips in every corner of the school.
The issue within Seidou's baseball team originated from an unknown account that posted on a popular app, causing the entire school, especially the baseball team, to become a hot topic.
The possible owner of that account is still being sought, but before they could take action, the account suddenly self-deleted, leaving the person behind it a mystery.
That's why it was decided to summon the person most involved in that issue.
Eijun stood quietly, his eyes still fixed on the floor. In front of him was their head coach with his arms crossed, and next to him was Takashima Rei, whose face was etched with concern.
"Are you aware of our current situation, Sawamura?"
Eijun looked up and their eyes met with his coach.
He nodded. “Kuramochi-senpai told me everything, but I still don't understand why it's such a big deal to everyone.”
Coach Kataoka stopped in his tracks at what he heard from the southpaw, and then Eijun continued speaking.
"I'll admit, Coach, that in the past few days I was still confused about my role on the team, but eventually, it didn't matter anymore Because all I want to do is to pitch.”
Eijun didn't know why he was saying those words to their coach, but all he wanted was to let them know how he felt.
His lips trembled before he bowed again.
“So I hope you'll trust me again, coach. I want to show that I'm not the same as before, that I'm more reliable now.”
It was as if Coach Kataoka had frozen in place; if you looked closely, you could see a slight widening of his eyes behind his glasses at what he had heard from the southpaw pitcher.
Rei couldn't speak after hearing that, but the pain was also evident on her face for the pitcher standing in front of them now.
It's as if a major realization has dawned on the head coach of Seidou.
Sawamura Eijun.
The pitcher in front of them now is the one who has struggled the most to prove himself since joining the team. He had many flaws, but that didn't stop him from working even harder toward his desired goal.
This is one of the things that proved his hardwork when he had the yips, which was a brutal test for him during his first year. And even so, he didn't run away from that.
Even though he was left behind by others he expected to rely on, Eijun didn't give up.
The yips, which are known and feared by every player in the baseball community, are often run from by anyone who gets it, and they never recover from them.
Despite that, Eijun didn't stop; he pushed himself even harder to improve and get better. He no longer wanted to experience the defeat they suffered last summer.
Where he couldn't forget that painful scenario, the faces of every third-year, their summer just ended.
So he imprinted on his mind that it would never happen again.
But with every effort comes every obstacle that gets in the way.
Instead of the people around him giving him extra strength, they were the ones who made him doubt himself. So, there’s only question on his mind, can he still do it?
Is there still a future for all the hard work and failures he's experienced?
The whole team... and the coaching staff.
It's as if everything is against him.
He could taste the bitterness of reality, the disappointment not only around him but especially in himself.
He's drowning in his own thoughts, believing he'll always be the last option and unreliable. But what is the only solution? If Eijun was already tired that day.
Their last game against Ichidai was the last straw for him. It's sad, so disappointing. That was a big slap in the face and a realization for Eijun.
Just because he was only a relief pitcher who caused the team's big loss last summer.
He became even more insecure about himself, and decided to just run away because he knew he would break at any moment, and he didn't want that to happen.
And he didn't want to continue anymore either.
But in the midst of thinking about just giving up, he met Hongo Masamune.
The person he didn't expect to give him a new purpose in baseball. And because of that person, he had hope again.
At first, he couldn't read him because he was so quiet and seemed to dislike the world. But before long, he gradually got to know that monster pitcher from Komadai Fujimaki, a well-known powerhouse baseball team in the Hokkaido region that always qualifies for Koshien and even manages to become champions.
Eijun admires Masamune.
He admires him, for his various characteristics and aspects he really admires him more.
It was Masamune who saved Eijun from drowning in his own self-doubt, from believing that his abilities were limited.
That's why he wants to repay him, he promised in front of Masamune that he would defeat him the next time they faced each other in battle.
He will show that there are other team pitchers who can compete with him.
Because Eijun knows Masamune's own problems.
He still remembers what he said, which also changed Eijun's perspective on baseball.
“We're both experiencing the same thing right now, but for different reasons. You, Eijun, are no longer enjoying baseball because of the fools around you, while I'm no longer enjoying baseball because no one can beat me. So, do you think we should continue playing if we can no longer see ourselves enjoying baseball?”
That's one of the long words that came from Masamune, but it had a greater impact on Eijun after hearing it.
And that's where the promise, which came directly from the two of them, began.
Under the beautiful moon, they recited their vows together.
That's why Eijun finally found the courage to return to Seidou and continue improving himself.
But it turns out that's not where everything ends when the issue happens.
But that didn't make Eijun afraid; he had a new purpose and he would focus on that. That's why he's in this situation where he couldn't help but say those words to their head coach.
He looked at their coach again, now determined.
"So, that issue, coach, let me handle it—"
"First of all, I want to apologize as your head coach, Sawamura," Eijun's eyes widened at what he heard. “Now I understand, I was blind to everything that was happening and only focused on what would bring us to the team's goal. I didn't see all your suffering just because of my negligence, so let me make everything right.”
Eijun's lips trembled again at what he was hearing from their coach, and a soft gasp could be heard from Rei, who covered her mouth.
“In my desire to further improve the team, I forgot to treasure each of my players, I forgot that I had abandoned you. So, I'm ashamed because it's only now that I realized everything when it had reached this point.”
He turned to Rei.
"Seidou will release a statement about the issue, we will address the problem and apologize to everyone involved, we won't run away and ignore it." He turned again to Eijun, who seemed rooted to the spot. “I see you now, and you've changed my perspective, so thank you.”

Chapter Text
Once again, the well-known app X has become even more popular due to the sudden post by the official Seidou account in the evening when everyone is active on the said social media.
The content of the post is the first apology to the southpaw pitcher who’s at the center of that issue and the admission of the truth that they treated Eijun wrongly. Next came the apology to those involved in the issue and an explanation of the pitcher's yips.
Many were surprised by what they learned from Seidou, because there were still more who didn't believe that Eijun had yips. While others were amazed by him because he overcame the yips, which is feared by every player.
But it wasn't just that that caught the other people’s attention, but also the name mentioned in that post by Seidou.
@SawamuraEijun
Looks like the southpaw pitcher made an account. Many were curious and stalked this account; it is noticeable that it is newly created due to its few followers. However, since he is a hot topic, every time you refresh the wall of his account, his followers increase.
But the curious people about the southpaw also couldn't miss the two unique accounts he follows. One is the official account of their team, while the other was unexpected by everyone.
That's why this added to what everyone was talking about.
Sawamura Eijun, one of the pitchers of Seidou baseball, follows a well-known figure in the high school baseball community, none other than Hongo Masamune, who is also a pitcher from Komadai Fujimaki.
Many were puzzled by what they saw; some said maybe Eijun is one of the players who admires Hongo Masamune, which is why he followed him. However, more were curious as to why he didn't follow any of his teammates.
But before such a conversation could even begin, a post from one of Masamune's famous fans suddenly surfaced and caught everyone's attention.
@HMBiggestfan!
Our Masamune already has a one and only follow! and it’s Sawamura Eijun, do they know each other? I'm super curious!
This is no joke because the when they stalk the official account of Komadai Fujimaki's monster pitcher, they see his following are no longer zero in the but have been replaced by number one! And if you click on it to see who it is, you will immediately see the newly created account of the southpaw pitcher from Seidou.
Because of that, the discussions and speculations among the people intensified even more. Who wouldn't be even more intrigued by this scenario?
Hongo Masamune is known to be elusive with people, and you can hardly hear his voice or talk to him if what is in front of him is not worth it or does not deserve his attention.
Many also say that he has a problem with his temper, and the only ones who can handle and endure his behavior are his battery partner, Enjo Renji, the main catcher of the renowned powerhouse school, and the second is their head coach.
So how did these two connect when they are different and far apart from each other?
No one knows... but many want to find out.
On the other hand, the two pitchers who have been the talk of social media seem to be in their own world with each other.
Eijun can be seen outside their dorm, currently sitting on one of the benches and looking up at the dark sky, but the stars are noticeable.
He was pouting while his phone was on his right ear.
"Shouldn't we be following each other on that app?"
"Tsk, what's wrong with that?" Masamune's response can be heard.
Eijun just chuckled. "I can see that it's a big deal for them, well I can't blame them, a Hongo Masamune is following a nobody pitcher like me! Even your main battery partner Enjo-san, ‘not on your following,"
“I don’t give a fuck about them, i’ll do what i want Eijun.”
Eijun could only shake his head at his response, typical Masamune.
"And you're not just a nobody pitcher, you're Eijun. They haven't seen what I see in you yet," Masamune added to what he said earlier, but his voice was more serious now.
Eijun smiled at what he heard, his gaze softening toward the sky.
“Thank you, Masamune,” he mumbled softly.
“For what?” Masamune asks, his voice sounds confused.
"For giving me a purpose... because of that, I'm enjoying baseball again."
On the other line, Masamune could be seen slightly taken aback by what he heard. He lowered his head, and if one looked closely, his gaze softened slightly, a quick breeze passing by as the corners of his lips lifted slightly.
“Yeah, i’m glad to heard that,”
'and he wishes the joy he could hear from him would never disappear from Eijun, the happy and enjoying Eijun is what Masamune loves to see.'
“What about you?” Eijun asked again.
Masamune glanced at his dominant hand and clenched it.
“I’m getting there Eijun,”
Eijun nodded, feeling excited once again.
"Just wait, Masamune! I will defeat you and take the Koshien title from you, you won't be disappointed in me!”
Masamune grinned at what he heard.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah!! So wait for me okay?”
‘I can wait hizashi as long as it’s you.'
_____
At the end of the section of the benches where Eijun was sitting, behind its wall, a figure could be seen. The bright moon caught the brown hair of this figure.
Standing straight while leaning against the wall was Miyuki Kazuya. He was quiet while holding a can of coffee in one hand, tilting his head and immediately locking eyes with Eijun’s figure.
The usual smirk that was always plastered on his lips was gone, replaced by seriousness, and that was because of the southpaw pitcher he had been secretly watching for a while now.
He has been looking for him for a while now because he didn't see him during dinner. One of the reasons is also the gossip he heard from the first-year students about what's happening on the X app.
He badly wants to talk to him.
But Miyuki didn't know how to start it. Since their last game against Ichidai the southpaw pitcher seemed to have changed, he didn't pay much attention to it because he knew he would be back to the way he was.
But that didn't happen, and instead he changed even more.
His old personality that Miyuki liked was still there but it felt like it was reserved. Miyuki watched as the pitcher became distant from him.
He didn't look him in his eye anymore, pestering him to catch his pitches. He'll only hear in other first-year ones that they'll see him pitch into a net, or once to one of the catchers, Kariba.
Miyuki was inexperienced when it came to his feelings, he didn't have a good personality, and he was aware of that from the beginning but when he was chosen as the new captain of the team he tried his best.
That's why it was too late when he realized that not everything can be handled by a captain leading his team cause; he forgot about a person who had become important to the team.
Despite his efforts to reach the team's goal, there was one person who was pushed back and overlooked excessively.
'What should be done?'
'Sawamura’s figure, he is slowly fading from my sight.'
'He's no longer behind me, he stopped trying to catch up with me.'
'Did I lose him?'
'I want to fix this'
'But how?'
Miyuki sighed, his thoughts a jumble, and he straightened his posture. He glanced at Eijun again.
'I want to talk to him right now,'
He took a sip of his coffee, ready to step forward to show himself to the pitcher and talk to him, but he stopped in his tracks due to Eijun's sudden raise in voice.
He looked at him again and saw the light on the face of the southpaw pitcher, a wide smile and seemingly sparkling eyes. Miyuki had never seen that expression on Eijun again these past few months, and he remembered that it was often directed at him whenever he caught his pitches.
Miyuki's lips slightly frowned at what he saw.
"Who is he talking to?" he softly asked himself. "Is it Chris-senpai?"
He moved a little closer to hear if his suspicion was correct, but he immediately froze in place when Eijun spoke again, his voice clear and loud.
“Masamune let’s enjoy playing baseball together alright?!”
