Big black ear moves with the sounds, hearing the birds chirp high up in the trees by the sight of the big predator, the trees' newly green leaves making their own soft noise as they flutter in the wind. His pig paws quiet, trotting through the woods.
Shouldering the big black wolf are his two betas, Jungkook and Yoongi. Both on the alert, working their noses along the ground to find the scent they are searching for and letting their ears pick up every sound.
The three of them move in silence, after years of patrolling and being in each other's company it's both comfortable and comforting.
A while later, the light brown alpha Jungkook breaks the silence. "Where did he say he scented it?" The wolf is a little bigger than the third one, but smaller than the black one. His coat is long and fluffy, often compared to a very overgrown puppy.
"East border", the black alpha answer,his voice gruff and deep.
"Gender?" The third one asks, his coat dark brown, almost a shade of red. His statue is slim and he could probably be mistaken for a beta if not for his aura screaming power.
"Ed said it was masked, hard to pick up. Beta probably, don't think an alpha would come in on another one's territory. I have a hard time thinking it would be an omega,but who knows…" The black alpha said.
"Mhm…" The smallest alpha hums.
"Yoongi,I talked to Taehyung this morning", the brown alpha then says, pretty timidly.
"Okay? What did he say?" The darker shade of brown alpha sighs, Yoongi.
"Wanted me to tell you to keep a better track of where you put your underwear,he is tired of needing to search the whole den before washing…" He mumbled, trying to cover up the fact that he just said that his mate is incapable of picking up his own clothes by stuffing his snout in dry leaves.
"Taehyung told you to say that?" Yoongi asks, raises his head to look over the black wolf's back to give his mate an unimpressed look.
"Mhm…"
"He couldn't say that to me himself?"
"Mm…
"Jungkook!"
"Both of you, shut the fuck up and focus", the black wolf in the middle barks out. Effectively making the other two shut their mouths.
They walk through the forest in silence for a few minutes, the alphas betas searching the air for an uninvited scent and the alpha the ground for the same one.
It's Jungkook, the light brown alpha, that once again breaks the silence,"Soo Namjoon… You and Jin?"
Seokjin, the beta that the black alpha, Namjoon, has been seeing for the past weeks, in search of his future mate. But finding a good mate as the Pack alpha is hard. Needing his mate to be strong, someone able to take on the role as pack mom.
And he hasn't got that spark with anyone yet.
"We're just friends, I don't feel the feel with him."
"Feel?"
"Yeah, you know, the spark, tingling."
"Mate… You are 24, it's time to find someone to mate", Yoongi sighs, having had this conversation a couple times already.
"Yeah yeah,but I… I feel like I will find them soon”, with them the young alpha means his by fate assigned mate. Not everyone has one, or even has the luck to meet them.
"Fucking sap", Yoongi sighs, Jungkook nodding in agreement.
"As if you lot didn't know Taehyung was your mate before you mated him?"
"We absolutely did, adored him from first sight and knew he was ours. But I'm just saying, you need to get a heir soon and the possibility to grow in love instead of falling exists", Jungkook, as always the poet, says.
"Ahh shut it, I will mate when I feel like it." Namjoon sighs, "Also, aren't I your alpha? Ain't you supposed to respect me?"
"You are highly respected my dear sir alpha", Yoongi mumbles, showing his nose in the dirt, sniffing.
Namjoon just huffs, playing a little offended.
But the three of them have known each other since they were pups, and with growing up together came shit talking. He accepts it, but only from his closets. If it was anyone else from his pack they would be on their back now,showing their belly in submission.
They keep walking in silence for a few moments, before Namjoon suddenly picks up on something.
"I got it." He growls,and the hunt begins.
Together, they run through the forest after the pretty fresh scent, soon finding the one they were searching for.
By the small flood stands a wolf gulping up water. Their coat is matted and dirty, brown from mudd. Masking their scent.
The three wolves stay back for a second, contemplating on what to do. Suddenly, the wind picks up and their scent washes over to the other wolf, their head shooting up at them.
Their eyes are dark, almost merging in against their muddy coat.
Namjoon then steps forward. “You are on my territory, uninvited." he growls, his tail tense and ears and eyes not leaving the wolf.
If the wolf decides to show their submission, Namjoon will let them speak and then decide if they will get housing in the pack or be escorted off their border.
The wolf surprises them all by showing their own teeths, letting their tongue run over their teeths and then snarling. Before either one of the alphas as had the chance to react, the other wolf has turned around and ran.
The alphas from the Kim pack don't waste a second on taking up the chase.
Namjoon dodges the trees with expertise, his big and bulky body making itself longer to take up more land.
“Anyone picked up the gender?” Yoongi huffs from a little behind him.
“No, but small build so probably omega or beta”, Jungkook pants, his big body not as agile as the others, almost running into every other tree.
"Focus, they are trying to shake us off", Namjoon gets out, trying to come closer to the very fast wolf they are chasing.
Namjoon must admit that the small wolf is both fast and smart. Taking turns,running in circles and doing whatever they can to shake them off,but the three alphas are better and are slowly growing closer.
The wolf then takes a sharp turn and runs back to the river, Namjoon snarls and runs after, the other two alphas not as agile and therefore gets a little behind.
The wolf doesn't hesitate to jump into the cold water, swimming as fast as they can in the strong stream.
When they come up on land again, their coat is much cleaner, stil tangled but most of the mudd is gone, though shines a white coat.
Namjoon,much stronger and bigger than the smaller wolf, lets his claws take grip in the sand, and then takes a big leap over the river. He lands with a huff and closes in on the other wolf.
But with the water that has washed them, Namjoon caughts the first real wiff of their scent. And it makes him stop right in his tracks.
Sweet sweet omega. The sweetest he has ever smelled.
With an undertone of…
Pregnant.
Namjoon can feel his whole demeanor change, his wolf stopping their hunt and now wanting to comfort, keep safe.
thinking about this pregnant and vulnerable omega running around his woods, he should have found them sooner.
"Why the fuck did you stop?" Yoongi snarls, irritated since they were so close to catching the wolf.
"It's an omega", is all their alpha gets out before he once again runs after the wolf, now following his scent since he has got a big advantage with his abrupt stop.
Jungkook and Yoongi shares a look, wondering what the fuck the big wolf is doing, but then follows his lead into the forest.
Namjoon follows the omega's lovely scent to a small cave, when coming closer the scent is getting stronger and he can hear the small wolf growling at him to stay away.
But it feels like something is dragging him in, and he can't stop his paws from leading him to the small opening to the cave.
He is met by the omega standing with a wide stance, baring their teeth, their coat standing up so they appear bigger.
Up close, Namjoon can see in what a bad shape the wolf is in, their coat matted, showing bald spots, red and irritated.
His breaths labored, his whole body shaking because it's too worn out from the run.
Their round stomach stands out from the rest of their malnourished body.
The alpha whines low in his throat, feeling all the pain the omega must have gone through.
But the omega just keeps growling,urging him to leave.
Then, a movement behind the omega catches the alpha's eyes.
Once again, a whine leaves his throat when realizing what it is.
A small pup.
It seems to be in much better shape then its mother, thankfully, with well groomed fur and a belly round full of food.
But still, he whines for the small family. The pain.
The omega must have seen him look at their pup, his growl now lower and he seems to be getting ready to fight.
The alpha acts fast, dropping himself onto the ground and turning around to show his gray belly, whining lowly in his throat to show full submission.
The two other alphas, standing behind letting their alpha do what he needs to do, is surprised when witnessing him, the strongest wolf they have ever met, dropping down and showing his belly to an unknown omega.
They share a look, wondering what the fuck has happend to their Namjoon.
The omega doesn't stop growling, but tones it down a bit, they too being surprised by the alphas' trust and behavior.
"I won't hurt you. My pack can give you housing and help you".
"Why?" The omega growls out. Their eyes drilling into him.
"You need help, I can help". He softly whines.
The omega seems to want to protest, tell him that they are doing fine and don't need any help. But then their pup makes a small noise, and the omega is brought back to their senses.
"How do I know you won't hurt us?" They snarl.
"You don't. But I promise you I won't, and I will do everything in my power to not let you get in any harm for the rest of your life."
The omega hesitates, but then slowly creeps forward to smell him, searching for any clue of him hurting their small family. First just the air around him, when they seem to deem it safe they walk closer and noses at his ears.
Namjoon can see their eyes first widen, then slowly dimming over.
"Alpha…" they whimper, their legs starting to tremble even more and the exact moment their legs give out Namjoon has shifted to his human form and has the concerningly light wolf in his arms.
The small pup in the cave now starts barking, seeing his mother passed out in a stranger's arms.
"Shh.. It's fine little pup, all of you are going to be fine…" Namjoon shushes the small wolf.
He then slowly takes a few steps into the cave, needing to bend down to fit into the small opening.
It's small, but it is already gathered from the outside.
It smells strongly of the omega and the little pup. A small nest made of leaves and grass is made in the corner, the pup standing in the middle of it shifting between snarling and whining.
Seeing that there is not much for belongings except for the nest and deciding not to bring anything, Namjoon bends down towards the small pup.
"Hey little one. I'm going to bring you and your mom to my pack, ok? Where we will feed you and nurse your mum back to health. Ok?" He slowly murmurs.
The pup only whines in distress, their small eyes glancing worried at their unconscious mother.
"Come here", he alpha says softly, shifting the omega so he can hold out one of his hands towards the pup. Seeing them hesitate, he encourages them with a low rumble deep from his chest, a sound close to a purring omega.
That wins the pup over and it walks closer, allowing Namjoon to scoop them up and lay them against his chest and their mother.
The little grey wolf keeps whining, slowly licking their mother in distress.
Namjoon sighs, knowing that there is not much he can do until they get back to the pack and the omega wakes up, other than keeping them safe.
Cradling them close to his chest, he walks out of the cave.
He is met by the sight of his two betas watching him with wide eyes.
"What, the, fuck?" Jungkook gets out, seeing his alpha holding two wolves in his arms.
"We need to get them home as fast as possible, the omega is in bad shape". Is the only thing Namjoon says, then starts to walk the way back to the pack.
"Hey, what the fuck is happening Namjoon?" Yoongi asks, walking up beside him in his wolf form.
"I… I think…"
"What?" Jungkook prompts, walking up beside his mate.
"I think I have found my mate".
"Wait, what?" Yoongi asks, looking at the small wolves in Namjoon's arms. The pup is now completely still by their mother.
"Yeah… I think that this is my mate", Namjoon says, looking down at the white wolf.
"And why the fuck do you think that?" The small alpha asks. "Literally, what the fuck Joon? You have known about this omega for ten minutes and now you want to mate them?"
"I-... I have never scented something like this. It's - its the sweetest thing ever, and it smells like… like home. It feels right, like we already know each other. They reacted very strongly to my scent too, it was like they realized I would never hurt them and their body just surrendered."
"So that's why you decided to show your fucking belly like a damn lunatic?" Yoongi snarls, clearly not happy with how this turned out. "And take both them and the pup? Who is the pup even?"
"Yes. I needed to calm them down and showing that I'm no threat seemed like the right thing.
It's their pup." Namjoon finishes. Prolonging his steps.
"Dammit Joonie…" Yoongi sighs.
"It's ok. We go back to the pack and let Jin look over them both, ok? And when the omega wakes up we will talk", Jungkook rationalizes.
"Three, it's three of them. Omega is pregnant". Namjoon states.
At that, Yoongi groans loudly. Why couldn't his alpha just pick someone from their pack? Why the probably feral omega that's already knocked up and has a pup.
Namjoon growls back at them both, telling them to shut up. His alpha side growing irritated and stressed, knowing that his omega needs help as soon as possible.
They walk back in silence, it takes a few hours since Namjoon is still in human form and can't run without rustling the omega around.
Walking into their small village, full of huts, they are met by almost the whole pack, wondering if they found the wolf.
"Alpha is back!
"Are you all ok?"
"Did you find anything?"
"What happened?
"Who is that?"
Namjoon waits for his pack to settle, then opens his mouth."This is the wolf that's been running around in our forest, and their pup." Namjoon states. The little pup looking up from where they were snuggling against their mothers tummy.
"Omega?"
"Yes. We will take all the questions later, right now they need medical help so can anyone send Seokjin to my den?"
Everyone nods and Namjoon takes that as the healer will be called and walks towards his hut, his den. It's the same size as everyone else's, he sees no reason for him to have any privilege's just because he is the pack Alpha.
He ducks under the skin that hangs as a drape by the opening, then laying both Wolfs down on his bed made of skin from moose and bears, the omega still limp and the pup laying as close as they can against their mother.
Jungkook and Yoongi, now turned to their human forms,stand by the opening of the hut, looking amazed at their alpha caring and touching the omega with such love.
Namjoon let's his calloused hands flow over the omegas worn out body and damaged coat. They lay completely still, at his mercy to do whatever he wants.
Letting his hands pet their big ears, he looks over at the pup.
The pup, looking back at him with their big and blue eyes, is in much better shape than their mother.
Their fur is well groomed, grey and shiny. Their little belly poking out a little, a sign of them being well fed.
Namjoon can't feel anything other than proud that his, wait, his? When did he start thinking of the stranger of omega like his?...
But he can't feel anything other than proud of the omega for taking such good care of their pup, even though it can't have been easy.
"Can you shift, little one? No one will hurt you", hu asks softly. Bringing one of his hands closer to the small wolf.
In answer, he gets a show of white teeth and a light growl.
The alpha just chuckles softly, "That's fine too".
Most wolves find their wolf form as most safe, they are often stronger in that form, have sharper senses and well, they are predators.
So there is nothing wrong with the pup finding assurance with their safety in their wolf form.
Then the skin drape is opened and in steps a tall man, his beta scent flowing around in the small hut, his face waring a small smile.
Namjoon turns around, a little startled when seeing that his betas are still around and have seen him fussing. He then looks at Jin.
"Jin, I need you to take a look at this omega and their pup".
"Oh, hello to you too Alpha. And Jungkook, Yoongi", he greets.
"Hi Seokjin", they both say in unison, smiling at the beta that has come to look over the whole pack with his healing abilitys,
"Please, they don't look too good", Namjoon says when the beta hasn't made a move to come closer to the bed yet. His pack mate sighs and then comes over.
When seeing the shape the omega is, the fellow wolf grows a frown on his face.
"Is this the wolf that has been running around the border?"
Namjoon hums in response, now standing up and giving him space to work.
When Jin is coming closer to touching the white wolf with his hands, the pup is making themself known with a growl.
"Oh, hello there.."he softly greets them, not having seen them due to their mothers fur covering them. "My name is Seokjin and I'm this pack healer. That means that I help sick people feel good again. Your mother seems to be a little sick, so I need to take a look at them. Ok?"
The pup seems to weigh their choices, either keep growling and probably be taken from their mother or stay quiet.
With a low whine, they let their small head rest on their front paws. Letting the other wolf look at their mother.
"Thank you." Jin thanks, then starts to look over the white wolf.
They stay put even when he touches their wounds and squeezes their legs to check for any swellings and potential breaks.
He lets his palms rest against their belly, feeling the pup being alive, but a little weak with their small kicks.
When he is satisfied with his check he stands up and turns towards his alpha.
"Alright. They are severely malnourished, which you probably already guessed. Their coat is damaged, probably from fights with other wolves, but also from living in the wild for a while, they have a majority of wounds all over their body, but they don't seem infected so they should heal within a few weeks. Left hind leg is a little swollen, my guess is that it's sprained. It should be fine with some rest. The little pup seems fine, but it's hard to tell when they are still in their wolf form. Once they have awoken I would like to check more thorough, if they consent to, ofcourse. But until then, nothing should be life threatening.” He finishes.
"Okey, thats, that's ok."
Jin then turns back towards the grey pup,"Now, i would like to take a look at you too. It would be great if you could shift so we can talk and I can look more trhougly".
The pup whines lowly, not seeming that comfortable with letting a stranger looking them over.
"You do not have to shift, it's okay to stay as a wolf", Seokjin softly says.
At that, the pup comes crawling towards him. Their tail unsure between their hind legs, ears flicking with every sound.
But they let him look them over, staying quiet and still.
"Everything seems great, little one. Your mother has taken good care of you", Seokjin smiles, happy that the pup is healthy.
At the mention of their mother the pup seems to relax a tiny bit, gives a tiny whine, then crawls back towards them, snuggling close to their throat.
"You mother will be fine with some rest, so how about we let you sleep for a while, yeah?" Jin says, turning towards the alphas that's standing silently behind him.
he gives them all a pointed look and then walks out of the hut.
Jungkook and Yoongi follow him out.
Namjoon stays behind for a second, smiling silently towards the pup and omega, then he too walks out and leaves them behind.
The pup closes their eyes and falls asleep in just a few seconds, exhausted.
